This is as great as any Wilbur Smith has written, and that's saying a lot since I consider all his books great! Very exciting and hard to put down till it's finished. Now, when is his next one coming out?

Another great novel by Wilbur Smith in his Egyptian series. There is nobody who can write adventure stories in a historical context.
I have read all his books and this is as exciting as all the others.

Wilbur Smith is a master of ancient Egyptian lore. His Taita series holds keeps you spellbound, and this story is no exception. This third generation of characters are complex and well developed and the story line exciting.

I have read numerous novels written by Mr. Smith but this one is extremely far fetched and absurb. Most of his novels are based somewhat on historical events howvever this story is almost science fiction.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, having read most of the Egyptian Wilbur Smith series, one after the other. Descriptive, imaginative, factual and easy to read, full of description with feasible characters and exciting dialogue! Would recommend!

Warlock is a well researched and Very well Written. Smith has been wrioting beautifull prose for over 40 years. His So African stories -when read sequentially provide a living history that is presented thru fiction.

Smith's casting of the hero as having real psychic powers (played down in 'River God') was several steps too far. The murders were both predictable and, to my mind, clunky. The last death was all together too predictable, and that the heroines threw themselves in harm's way in the way they did, let alone the final homosexual twist (is that an ironic pun?) or perhaps just allusion to same was too cheap and altogether too Bryce Courtenay schoolkid idea of deep.

Not sure I think the magic and occult add a lot to the story, but they are an essential part of it. It allows the author to contrive escapes from various scenes.
A good woven picture of Egypt and the royal intrigues and some excellent battle scenes. The chapter on Running the Red Road was particularly good.
I had read this when it first came out in book form and I am enjoying re-reading many Wilbur Smith books in Kindle format
