Looking for an innovator? For a "new" idea? For a strange book? Read it. If every book has a way of reading for each reader this asumes that and gives you freedom for reading it's chapters in the order you want to. Increadible!! You will find all this, and also an author that is a great critic of himself, but don't look for a real inspired artist because Cortazar is not. Anyway, read it!

Cortazar displays in this novel one of the best texts of this century novel, it shows the differente points of view of every man. Built in a different structure than an ordinary novel, he made a magnificient scheme about two worlds, two cities, men & women, and our perspectives of life and existence. It is a real shame that does not exist an English translation of this book

This book is one nobody should miss. Cortázar has an excelent way of sayin things and this book isn't the exception, but the temporal structure was wonderfuly surprising in the 50's and is still. But is not just a curious way of telling things, it also deals with the most profound theams of life, love, pasion, relationships and how to understand the world. It is profoundly human, and the ultimate question that rises once you read it is Where do you really find humaness?

Fascinating experiment with words, literary structures, feelings and emotions, Rayuela, in the words of its author, gives a chance to the reader to take an active role in the reading process by freeing up his or her own creativity to choose how to go about this game, what pages to jump to, what chapters to skip, in a stream of consciousness in which many will see themselves reflected.

I read this book straight through, in numerical order. I think the book is revolutionary in it's format, but honestly wasn't that tied to its story. I was so happy when I finally finished. If you like stream-of-thought novels this might be for you, but I struggled through.
