I've enjoyed Linda Howard's books in the past. However this one was a total fizzle. I do not like reading in the 1st person format. Wish I had known before purchasing, eitherwise I would not have bought this book. The entire story line is so far fetched. All the dialogue & romance from the leading guy? Where did Linda dream up this guy anyway? He dumps a woman for no reason at all and then 2 years later, he's bedding her within 24 hours after hooking up with her again. First of all, any guy who stops calling and gives you no explanation, in no way, should ever be given a 2nd chance. But since the leading lady is a blonde, it shows how "fluffy" & "air-headed" and easy as we all suspect blondes are.

The leading guy, in my opinion is an arrogant, mister-know-it-all who stepped on others to rise through the police dept. I believe a lot of women would have never given him the satisfaction of explaining unless he begged for their attention and forgiveness BEFORE pushing them into having sex with him and telling you you have to wait for the explanation. Think about it: how many of today's women would want a man who dictates their lives like this guy did? I'd say not many unless they were truly desperate.

This book was a huge disappointment to me. I will be more careful to find out about the book the next time Howard is ready to publish another.

Most characters in romance today are carrying loads of baggage around---as if we don't see enough of that in reality---and although a little past angst makes for a well-rounded character, it was utterly enjoyable to read about someone who grew up in a loving family, was well-adjusted, and plain fun.

The fact that it was written in first person caused some confusion---I found myself looking back to see if there were quotation marks at times. But what an entertaining read!

I really like the way Linda Howard tries new plots and characters. I hope she continues to write creative stories with characters that are interesting and imperfect. Other authors stick to the same formula time after time simply changing the names of characters. I thought To Die For was both funny and romantic. I loaned it to several other teachers at school who loved it as well! Maybe southern girls appreciate the humor a little more. I'm a true L.H. fan and I own every one of her books. Keep writing for people like me!

When I read the first few pages the style immediately reminded me of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. Which I love. However in this it appears to me that Linda Howard is trying too hard to let us know her character thinks really cool thoughts, acts the dumb blonde but is really, really smart.

That said, the story still hooked me enough to find out how it ends. Linda Howard certainly knows how to write a romance/mystery with very hot guys. I can overlook the frequent 'personal asides' from Blair on how to handle life and men because she has me wondering who the attempted killer is.

Perhaps its because I have used some of the same blonde tricks, but I enjoyed this light read. To Die For was recommended by my reading buddy and at first I wasn't sure I would like it (even though Linda Howard is one of my favorite writers). But once I got into the rhythm of the prose, I enjoyed this different kind of heroine. In fact, I would love to meet the real 'Blair.' This woman knows how to keep a man interested (read that frustrated) and happy. Linda Howard writes the best sex and her male characters seem to be patterned after real men too. If you aren't expecting more than a light-hearted funny battle between the sexes (with a sub-plot of murder and attempted murder), you will enjoy To Die For. As for the murder (as we say down here in LA ~ lower Alabama) ~ 'I think she needed killin'.

I loved this book, mainly because of the heroine's smart ass wit. I am very happy to see this female character step out from the cookie cutter virtuous heroines you become used to. She does not feel overly obligated to help those who wrong her. She seems to be a real strong person, caring and I love that. However, I wasnt happy about the hero in this book. Particularly his remarks about their sexual relationship and the no means no thing. hey if a woman is resisting your ass, take a hint and move on. That was the main chink in the chain for me, kinda pissed me off. But I love Linda Howard, she is one of the best alongside Anne Stuart, Judith McNaught(see Perfect).

One of my favorite things about Linda Howard's writing is her ability not to get "stuck in a rut". This story is very funny, lighthearted and reminded me of "Legally Blonde". The book jacket and the content were at serious odds with each other! My only complaint was the suspense part of this story - the idea of "who done it" was not given to the reader through the story and was only introduced at the end, in a not very believeable way. The humor more than makes up for it however.

Blair Mallory witnesses a murder. The victim is one of the members of her club, Great Bods who had taken to dressing like Blair. In fact she was so good at it that she could easily been mistaken for Blair. Lt. Wyatt Bloodworth dumped Blair cold two years ago after only three dates without any explaination or phone call. When he hears that a blond woman was murdered at her club his first thought is that it was Blair so he rushes over to the club. Upon discovering that Blair is fine he decides that he wants a second chance with her and that he is going to protect her. No matter if Blair wants him to or not. Let me say that I love Linda Howard's books. To Die For is a certain improvement from her last two books. It's more lighthearted(think Mr. Perfect). However it's also not as sexy as any of her previous books, which I really missed. One of the reasons I buy LH books is for the sensuality. To Die For was also written in the first person which is something I never expected from LH.
Let me say this again, I love LH but her last few books just have not been as good as her older works. To me they are just missing something. But To Die For is certainly going back in the right direction after the big disapointments I found her last two books to be. There were some parts that were truly hilarious but I had issues with the way that Wyatt dumped Blair 2 years ago so I had a hard time warming up to him and that detracted from the story for me. But after I've said all this I still think everyone will enjoy it. I have to say that I think the only reason I was somewhat unsatisfied at all with To Die For is because Linda Howard had me soooo spoiled by her other stuff that I keep waiting for another Shades of Twilight or After The Night or a hero like Zane or Chance MacKenzie.

Albeit this book has no plot at all. You won't really give a darn about the slaughter. You'll laugh and you'll keep reading to know about the love story. The part when it says why Wyatt left Blair the first time lacks in imagination but you can't have everything in a book. Well, part of reading a book is to have a good mirth time. So with this book you'll have it.

I have read every Linda Howard book published and enjoyed her experiments with style and content. However, her latest novel, To Die For, published in paperback, was beyond disappointing. I couldn't get past the first few chapters but I forced myself to finish the book nevertheless. I gave the book to a friend, and she had the same problem. We couldn't believe it was a Howard novel.

Now I understand why it's in paperback instead of the usual hardcover release. At first, I thought Howard must have "re-written" an old novel, changed the title, and published the "new, more detailed" version like Elizabeth Lowell (a ploy which I find annoyingly deceptive since the new books aren't really substantially different at all).

To Die For is so shallow. The Point of View is ineffective, awkard, and annoying. Instead of rich narratives and insightful characterization and other pacing devices, all I hear in my head while reading is the "chatter" from the central female character. The noise pollution detracted from real opportunities to craft a more substantial novel worthy of hardcover status. I hope Howard never uses this technique again. It's a cop-out.

If I wanted a "light fluffy" read, I could have bought any of the countless absurd romantic comedies on the shelf and zimmed through them in less than an hour and then throw them away.

I hope Howard and her editors do not follow "market trends" and diminish Howard's stellar writing reputation by producing novels that deviate from characteristics that made Howard such a popular author (Judith McNaught fell into that trap!) In truth, Howard's other books, particularly the shorter novels like Duncan's Bride, are better written than To Die For.

The title is a misnomer because this is not a murder mystery. The who-dun-it part is so minimal when the majority of the book is about the romance between Blair and Wyatt. I didn't like the first-person smart alecky narration at first but that grew on me as I got to know the character. Parts of the romantic banter are downright funny. The book could have been about half in length. Good beach reading!

I really do like Linda Howard, but this book was not even good enough to finish. For one thing the first person point of view was terrible, and I found myself not even liking the main character, she REALLY got on my nerves! I mean, how can you read a book when you do not even like the main character?!? Sorry Ms. Howard, I have really liked your others, but I think next time I will have to check the ratings before I trust another of your books by sight alone.

This book could be categorized as comedy, romance or mystery. It is well written and keeps you interested. The heroine, Blair Mallory) is not the typical blonde. This is a delightful book that makes you crave more.

Howard has finally written a book as good as Mr. Perfect. Her last 3 or 4 books were good, they were intersting but they just were missing something. This book has humor, sex, a strong alpha male and an equally strong alpha female. The take no prisoners characters and satisfying ending make it a great read. Don't miss this one

I had enjoyed the last two Linda Howard books I read and was looking forward to an enjoyable read, but this book is a stinker. First the main character is annoying and since the book is written in first person, we hear her babble on so much. what she is eating how she exercises, her clothes.... blah blah blah I was actually hoping that she would be shot and killed. Second, there is no plot. Reading this book is tedious. Third, the "hero" is a macho cop who displays all the warning signs of an abuser. Being held against one's will is made into a romantic thing when it is sick.

Linda Howard ought to be ashamed of herself for writing this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I laughed through a large part of it. I am someone who has always had a prejudice against cheer leaders. Linda Howard makes me think twice about my perceptions, while making fun of them. I'm looking forward to reading more books by her.

When I read that line I knew it was going to be downhill all the way. Is this really Linda Howard? If it is, it reads like an early manuscript that got rejected three dozen times and now that she's famous, oh, what the heck, let's publish it too. I couldn't even LIKE the heroine and the supposed hero never added up to much either. I kept reading because of my faith in Ms. Howard's ability to tell a story but sadly, this time my faith was not rewarded.

He cranked my tractor? Yes, that line is really in the book. Enough said.

I feel like Linda Howard owes me the price of this book. You get comfortable with an author and you buy his/her books because you are sure you will enjoy them. This book could have been written by Linda Howard's Barbie doll, or maybe her 17-year old neighbor. Shallow, self-centered characters and the male love interest is nothing less than a stalker. Half way through the novel, I was hoping the killer would find what's-her-name and put her out of all our misery. Never finished the book and that's the lowest rating I can give a novel,

This book was a waste of my time, the author's time and anyone else involved in getting this book into print. Linda Howard has written some wonderful novels, so I kept reading, hoping things would improve. It's pretty sad when you start hoping the heroine DOES get killed. I liked the other characters, and liked the town, it was just the nitwit that I could have done without. If the point was to show that even a self-involved impressed-with-herself Southern princess deserves happiness, then the objective failed.

To be honest, I stopped buying LH books because I thought they've become a little stilted (I read a library copy). But I have to say this book was a good, quick, easy read. It reminded me of Mr. Perfect or Open Season and definitely didn't try to take itself too serious. The dialogue was snappy with some nice steamy scenes. It's not War & Peace but then again it's not suppose to be. It was a fun read.

I'm always first in line the second a new Linda Howard book hits the shelves. She always delivers and this book is no exception. Ms. Howard took a very different approach in this book by writing for her main character, Blair Mallory, in the first person point of view. I found it to be very funny and engaging. This is no gritty thriller but rather a more lighthearted romance. There were times in the book when Wyatt Bloodworth's highhandedness was a little much and Blair's reaction equally silly but, overall, I found myself laughing and enjoying the story. I can't wait for her next book!

The plot and storyline was excellent. However my only problem with this book is that it is in first person. You dont even get a clue as to who the killer is, and you get no feel for the other characters, especially Wyatt. I also found Blair to be exactly who she hated being treated like: a dumb blond. She is not that bright and is just damn annoying. Im sorry its the first person thing. If you like first person go for it. It was a great storyline behind it but the whole 1st person thing traumatized me.

I just could not get through the audio version of this book. The narrators voice was irritating and painful. Her voice gave the impression that the Heroine? was a vapid, celf-centered narrow minded bimbo. And geez why does an author feel the need to take up 8 minutes in dialog on how the Heroine chooses what color of panty to wear that day? I kept listening hoping that something awful and paiful would happen to her..

While this may not be Linda Howard's best. It's very good. The plot starts out with a murder taking place at Best Bods. Which the victim was a Blair look-alike. But what looks like a open and shut case. Turns out to much more. This book has some suspenseful turns and just when you think you have figure it out.It snatches the rug underneath you. So if you want to enjoy a good novel. This is it.

All I had to do was plug in Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde" as Blair's character and the whole tone of the story was set.....right down to the 'Pebbles' hairdo.

The best part was that LH had a character that believed that a man had to work for a woman.

Steamy, funny, with just enough suspense and a super cool, romantic, sexy leading man. What more can a girl ask for?

I'm not sure how Linda Howard managed to write two books featuring this character - Blair Mallory. I've read half the book looking for some redeeming quality within Blair's vapid mind, and I finally give up. This is not to say that Howard isn't great. If you want to read some of her quality stuff, please read "Cry No More" and "All the Queen's Men." Loved those books, and loved the people in them.

LH is one of my favorite authors but the last couple of books have been a disappointment. This book was "ok" but nothing spectacular and nothing that I would re-read. For me that is the mark of a great book, I want to re-read it over and over.

The heroine was so shallow and ditzy I couldn't see what the hero saw in her. Didn't find this book to be that suspenseful or tense. Or romantic.

Bring back the old LH - suspense, great fully developed characters, romance.

I loved this book, and highly recommend it! The smart-mouthed heroine is who I want to be when I grow up (Ok, I'm already grown up, but you know what I mean). Despite 3 near misses, she makes you laugh, and keeps her boyfriend worried in the best possible ways!

Plenty of others have given the story line run down. I have to say I really enjoyed the dialog. Blair is sassy with a smart mouth and reminded me a bit of Sunny in A Game of Chance. I didn't mind the "first person" and thoroughly enjoyed the hero. Thought the hero was well developed through dialog. And he's right. Blair is very definitely high maintenance.

I was looking for just some light reading. Well this one certainly is light. Not much substance. Perfect if you are a young teenage girl, which I am not. Blair does have some very comical takes on a whole lot of different subjects. That much I enjoyed.

So I tried to read the book and that was bad enough. The audiobook made it that much worse I believe. The lead character, Blair, is just plain annoying. She is the type of character that usually is a supporting character, not the lead and it definitely fell short. I think that the narrator just added to my annoyance with the whole book. I really miss LH's beginning good reads. Hopefully we will see more of those in the future, and hopefully give them a chance.

I love Linda Howard's books. I frequently read them repeatedly. There are only two now three, that I will not reread. When you read a James Patterson Book, you know what your getting, a first person narrative, but even he allows the other person's thought processes to be known. I found this book completely one sided (obviously after the first chapter). Granted, you have a little foresight into Mr. Bloodsworth's actions but it is superficial. I would have found the story more intriguing if she (Howard) wrote at her best. Filling all the pertinent characters with life, and charisma. The book, yes, had it's funny parts but, I found myself speeding through the thoughts sections of Blair, they were tedisious and repetitive.

Okay, I admit it. I am helplessly addicted to Linda Howard. When I bought this book I anticipated the sexy heroine, the alpha male hero, the suspense, the humor, the tears, oh, you know. What I got was so much more. Linda breaks the rules with this one: from her uncanny first-person descriptions of the typical day of a cheerleader/crime-fighter/fitness center owner to her alpha male (who isn't all that alpha after all) to her warm depictions of family dynamics and potential in-law connections, this one is an absolute winner. In all my years of collectiing and reading (and re-reading) Linda's books, this is the one I keep by my bedside for steamy scenes and laughs. You admit it: Don't you know and love someone like Blair?

I am normally a big fan of Linda Howard and her delivery of romantic suspense. Either her 13 yearold daughter got a hold of Linda's computer and submited a juvenile manuscript under her mother's name, or she has had a labotomy. The dialogue was valley girl-esque, the heroine a shallow, game-playing idiot and the hero was completely undeveloped. This book is to die for - you read it and you will want to kill yourself.

Although I enjoyed the fact that the novel was written in the first person, the novel left a lot to be desired. A huge fan of Howard's novels, I kept waiting for the story to live up to its claim "suspense." If I began reading the novel knowing it would be a cute love story between Blair and Wyatt I might have enjoyed it more. The problem was, there was supposed to be a stalker/killer, but instead we received a cutsy love story. Don't get me wrong, cutsy love story is fine, as long as the reader goes into "To Die For" knowing that the title is taken from a 13 year old teenager's phone conversations about her latest hearthrob.

I really enjoyed the book, but had to get past my reluctance to read a book written in first person. I'm not a big fan of first person. Too much I, I, I. It was a surprise to find this book written that way, but all in all it was a funny, entertaining read.

I loved this book (and its sequel "Drop Dead Gorgeous"). Both books have both mystery and romance and are written in way that is easy to read. I really liked the characters and the hilarious way they interact with eachother. I hope that Howard writes more novels about this entertaining couple, but the books don't appear to be written in a way to allow more books to follow, which is a shame.

I had a very good time with this one (certainly more than with "kiss me while I sleep" did LH really wrote this one ???).

"to die for" has a very good story, excellent characters (even if I hate when the story is related at the first person !).

Wyatt is a true howardian hero and the heroine is charming, witty and likeable !

The sparks fly and the story is a fast reading full of turns and suspense.

Thanks Mrs Howard for this very good one !

If constant bickering is what you like reading about, this book is for you.

I was thouroughly disappointed after the first 100 pages. The book felt cheaper to me, and I couldn't find the suspense after that.

The book just does't hold a mature feel, and it read like the two main characters where still in highschool.

The only way I'd recommend this is if you'd read avery other romance/suspense novel there is.

It took me 4 days to finish a Linda Howard book!!! I put it down time and time again. Unheard of! This story was so sophomoric I cannot believe Linda wrote it. But the Dedication gives a hint. A high maintenance friend who gave her the inspiration for the story.

It was almost as bad as Janet Evanovich's co-written books. Awful! No way did it come close to her MacKenzie series. I did like "Cry No More". Wyatt just didnt do it for me this time.

Very disappointed.

I have to admit that when I first read this new novel by Linda Howard a couple of weeks ago, I was at first disappointed. It didn't seem to fit the usual style of books I've come to expect from my favorite author. However, I gave it a second look last weekend and took a little more time to really give the first person, bantering dialogue style another shot. Now this is one of my favorite Linda Howard books! It's fast paced, and intellectually interesting to read.

Probably the worst Howard book that I've read. To Die For is pretty much a carbon copy of all those latest bestsellers about shopping addicts. The main heroine is annoying to the point when you really want her dead. She keeps repeating how she is so smart and great, but misunderstood as a dumb blond former cheerleader stereotype. However she acts and thinks exactly like one of those proverbal "dumb blondes". And that's besides her inability to say "no" to sex with the main male character, even though he behaves like a chauvinistic pig and she knows it.
The plot is weak and totally cliche. Very disappointing. Not something I expected from Linda Howard at all.

I'm not sure what's going on with Linda Howard, but this has got to be one of the worst books she's written in a long time. It was even worse than, Kiss Me While I Sleep, and I didn't think anything got worse than that.

The 1st person account was "totally tacky," especially as we didn't know what the hero (Wyatt) was thinking. The plot was boring and predictable, and the sex scenes (always Linda's best parts,) were just plain boring. I agree with a previous reviewer who mentioned that it read like a harlequin romance.

The story did not read like a typical Howard story. It almost seemed like she wrote this story YEARS ago, but just decided to publish it. Take my word: Don't pay full price for it like I did. You may just want to borrow this one from your local library.

I had just finished reading The Rogue by JD and was convinced that stories narrated in the first person were not to my appeal. But as soon as I read the first page of this book I realized I was dead wrong! This story had me hooked inmediately. It's a light story that had me chuckling every couple of pages. The writing is very witty and appeals to my taste for light entertainment. Great book for a rainy/snowy day.

I find it hard to believe that a man like Wyatt would be interested in a pain in the ass like Blair for anything more than sex. He only needs to look at Blair's father to see what life will be like without his manhood intact. Yikes! I never warmed up to Blair and that makes for a miserable read. Read "After The Night" and pass on this awful book.

I have never read anything by this author before and never will again. This book has been sitting in my to be read pile for years and I took it out of desperation. I wish I'd taken something else. I have never despised two main characters more than Blair and Wyatt. The ridiculous romance, the arrogance of both characters, just the sheer stupidity made it painful to read. I was hoping someone would take them both out with a single shot and put them, and me, out of my misery.

Normally I snatch up a new Linda Howard book and relish reading each and every word. But this is not what I've come to expect from the author of such jewels as Sarah's Child, Duncan's Bride and the MacKenzie series. Her "inner beach bunny"? Give this one a miss.

Let me first say that I have read almost everything that Linda Howard has wrote, dating all the way back to the early 80's. This book was by far the worst thing that I have read from her. I honestly could not believe that Linda Howard wrote this. I hate saying this because I think she is a terrific author and can do so much better. The main character, Blair, was a dizzy self absorbed women. Half of the book was spent focused on how beautiful Blair was and how everyone wanted to be like her. Linda Howard fans, save your money on this one.

Linda Howard has a way of keeping the reader totally drawn into her writing until the very last page. Although most of the time with romance novels, a reader can gage how the ending is going to be and this book was really no different. This book was good, but not one of her best. The book focused to much on two characters and not enough "outsiders" to keep the reader from "guessing" what was going to happen next.

I was quite dissappointed with this book. Maybe it's because I had read almost all of Linda's books and had set a high expectation for this one. The story line wasn't that bad but it just didn't pull me in as Linda's previous books like 'Dream Man' or 'kill and tell'. It could be that I was bias since I don't like book written in first person. I think Linda is better at writing in 3rd person. Anyway read the book and decide for yourself :) There's quite a bit of humor in this novel :D

Linda Howard is one of my all time favorite authors. It is hard to say anything bad about her work. Other than the first person POV it was really good. If you can get past how annoying the girl is you'll be OK. Usually I stay up late and try to get her books read in two nights, this one got on my nerves so bad it took almost a week to read it. If I wasn't familiar with her work, I would not have finished it.

I normally love Linda Howard's books. They're sensual and they have great story lines with awesome alpha male heroes and, usually, the heroines are a lot more tolerable than the one in To Die For. Blair is so self-absorbed, spoiled, and such a pain in the butt that I just wish I could reach into the book and smack her sometimes. The other aspects of the book, plot-line and hero, are just what I would expect from a LH story. As far as I'm concerned, the only fly in the ointment is the heroine.

This is Linda Howard at her funniest. A heroine who has "ditzy blonde" down to a fine art, but who is actually smart as a whip...a hero who is constantly baffled, befuddled, and bemused by her. If you're from the South, don't miss this one: you'll see traces of your friends (yourself?) and family. The whodunnit is exciting, too.

It took so much away from the book that I really couldn't get into the main charaters. If you like the first person story line, you will probably like the book. For me it just didn't cut it. Sorry, Linda. Please go back to writing your books like After that Night, Mr. Perfect, Cry No More, Shades of Twilight, Dream Man, etc. I will just have to wait and see how the next one reads.

Somtimes you come across a book that has it all; an intelligent, witty & hillarious heroine, a hunky, sweet male lead, awesome secondary characters & a gripping plot. This is definitely one of the worse books that I have ever read. Thank god I didn't buy it, but got it from the library. As some of the others reviewers have stated, the book is just filled with fluff and lots of inconsequential information. I found myself skipping over pages and pages of could-care-less info. The female lead was so weak and mealy-mouthed...the fact that the male lead simply had to look at her neck and she would get all weak-knee and fall into bed with him, was just pathetic.

I've read a few of Howard's books and thought they were great, but her last two have been simply nauseating...I couldn't even finish "To Die For". Yech!

Normally I enjoy Linda Howard's books, but this was so silly it can't even qualify as horrible. When the heroine rambles on about how to make coffee, you know the author is trying desperately to fill up the pages any way she can. This was one of the few books I couldn't force myself to finish, because I just didn't care how it ended.

I am a long time fan of Linda Howard. I was excited (as most fans are)when I saw her new book on the shelf. Let's face it. She is tried and true and you know what you are getting when you pick up one of her books. While I did enjoy aspects of the plot and the characters, the sizzle that is her trade mark is absent. Great plot, memorable charecters and smokin' love scenes are the reason we love Linda;implied love scenes can be left to another author.

Her love scenes remind me of the Harlequins I read as a teen.

I loved this book. Enjoyed the first person narrative. I actually found the relationship believable because I think the bickering, insults and barbs are pretty much what a lot of us do in our relationships. The list keeping was hilarious. I am starting one of my own!

Stupid, characters not believable -- there is nothing good about it. It's an insult to readers everywhere. Linda Howard has written some decent books, but she must have been smoking crack when she wrote this.

Ok, maybe the battle of the sexes does wear a bit thin, but this is the first giggle-out-loud LH I've read. Mr. Perfect had yucks, but this one was delightful all the way. People are complaining because a cheerleader and a football player seem a bit shallow? PUH-LEESE.

I agree with another reviewer that the narrator of this book was annoying. Why the need to use a pseudo-southern accent? It just made the female character sound more vapid and unappealing. After the first tape, I decided enough was enough.

First and last time I read Linda Howard if this is her typical style. A little reality please. A police officer takes the victim home with him. Yeah sure. Happens all the time. A woman who pretends to be dumb when it suits her gives all woman a bad name. Makes me want to scream grow up Blair! Nobody cares that you were homecoming queen 10 years ago. Ex-husbands new wife is jealous of you, sure thing! I usually read murder mysteries and this is not even close.

I am usually turned off with first person narratives, but decided to give this one a try. This is a thoroughly entertaining and fun story! Wish I had it to read all over again. I'm recommending it to all my friends and co-workers as one not to be missed. You'll enjoy it too!

I liked the romance, I liked the suspense. Sometimes the main character Blair was a little clueless, but okay. The hero was very hot and they had some funny banter. Not sure we need a sequel, but I may check it out.

I loved this book from beginning to end! The main charachter is sooooo funny. In a way I was reading it laughing out loud thinking why can't I be more like her?? A good read and thoroughly enjoyable!

Linda Howard's books are amazing. She combines the right combination of suspense, romance and humor that will have you turning the page all night. If you have read this book and none of her others then you must at least read "Mr. Perfect" and "Open Season".

latest l.howard is funny & witty. after her disaster with her last novel, this book was a good surprise-with the usual l.h. flair for story telling. will look forward to the stories of the other 2 sisters. dewey zapf-germany

I was disappointed by Kiss Me While I Sleep; but this book just went too much in the opposite direction. It is fine for someone who is not used to the execellent quality that Linda Howard usually porvides in her novels. Until I regain confidence in Ms. Howard I will not purchase any more hard cover books by her; instead I will wait until the second hand paperbacks are available.

I normally really like Linda Howards books, but if I had read the first couple pages before I would have never bought the book. I hope her next one is better than this. The character is very shallow. I kept expecting that the character would wake-up and a person with depth would appear.

This book was pretty bad. I have read other books by Linda Howard and they were great. The cover looked like it was a serious book with suspense. Instead, this was a silly, and unrealistic book. Also, the constant bickering between the main characters was very tiresome.

My first reaction to this book was the same as the other "critics", but as I kept going at it, I found that I really liked the format and style. This unique perspective gave me an insight into the heroine. Linda Howard hasn't lost her touch yet.

I agree that the last few Linda Howard books haven't been that great - no plot, or just plain boring, but the sex at least was hot and steamy and it made up for the horrible story, but her new book, To Die For had a really boring first person story and what the heck happened to her hot and steamy sex scenes?? She glossed over the sex like it was a Harlequin novel. I feel cheated!

I didn't like the first person point of view that she uses in this one. The story was kind of lacking and the steamy sex that is characteristic of Linda Howard is missing . I have been a long time fan and this will be the first of her books that I will donate to charity.

If you're a die-hard LH fan, you have to read this book, it's worth it. But if this is your first book of her's read something else. It had it's funny moments, but I wish LH had made Blair a little bit less ditzy. I caught myself rolling my eyes at one point or another.

I BUY LINDA HOWARD BOOKS JUST ON THE NAME, DONT EVEN READ THE BACK. BOY DID I MAKE A MISTAKE THIS TIME. SHE WROTE IT IN THE FIRST PERSON, WHICH IS SOMETHING SHE'S NEVER DONE BEFORE. CAN'T READ 1ST PERSON. I REALLY ,REALLY TRIED BECAUSE I LOVE HOWARD BUT COULDN'T DO IT AND I'M REALLY UNHAPPY THAT I SPENT $ 8.50 FOR A BOOK I CAN'T READ. I'LL BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME AND WONT JUST TAKE IT ON NAME ALONE.
