♥ Natalie & Patrick ♥

Nat is a librarian in the quiet town of Hood River and Paddy is a Rock'n'Roll Superstar.

But 12 years ago Natalie was a 19-year-old waitress and Paddy was trying to make a living with his brothers and their band Sweet Hollow Ranch.
Natalie and Patrick had a very intense and erotic 2-week 'affair' but then she went off to college and he and his brothers went off to LA to record their first album.

Fast forward 12 years. Paddy is a world famous rock star and Nat has left her wild days behind and is now a librarian in Paddy's hometown!

As soon as Patrick sees her buying her daily drugs - aka COFFEE - he's fascinated again.
He never forgot her - of course there were a million girls between then and now - but now he's back home for a while and he wants to see what could happen between the two of them - again.

Natalie isn't all that happy about Paddy's flirting - she thinks she doesn't want the complications that come with being with a rock star - she's just a quiet librarian now - not this wild girl she used to be.

And then there's her less than happy past - with her addict of a Dad and her rich grandmother.
She doesn't want to be reminded of her life growing up in the middle of a house full of drugs.

But Paddy proves to be very persistent in his wooing....and she agrees to go on a date.
A date and another date and then there's the SEX too!! ☺

They start something pretty serious - and it all moves along really nice and problem-free.

With Patrick she seems to be able to let go - let go of her constant need to control every aspect of her life.

But Nat's past keeps getting in their way.
Thanks to her Dad, she can't take it if people around her get drunk....and Paddy - being a rockstar and all - there might be some alcohol here and there. But he's not an alcholic - he knows what addiction can do to a family because Ezra is/was an addict. (his brother Ezra's & Tuesday's story will be book #2 in the series!!!)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH NATALIE & PATRICK???
WILL THE TWO OF THEM GET THEIR HEA???
OR WILL THERE BE A HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER??? o.O
I'm not telling you that of course ☺

SUCH AN ADORABLE ROMANCE!!!!!

When I read the word ROCKSTAR in the blurb, I knew this book had to be read asap!

I just love rockstar romances - and Navy SEAL and CEO romances - pfff I love them all - but I REALLY love ROCKSTARS!!!

Nat & Patricks's story was really sweet and full of funny scenes and moving scenes and yes, of course - lots of sexy and romantic scenes!!

It was such a sweet romance - everything about it was perfect. The whole Hurley family for one. I would sooo love to be part of this crazy family! They're all so funny and cute and nice - plus, most of them are ROCKSTARS!!!!☺☺☺

Then we have Natalie with all her fears - she never wants to go back to the way she had to live as a kid - having to clean up after someone, taking care of someone who doesn't want to or doesn't deserve to be taken care of. She just wants to keep on living her quiet and nice life.
But now she's with a rockstar....things might not always be quiet and nice anymore.
Is it worth it???
I would say HELL YES - but I didn't grow up the way Natalie did.....but maybe/hopefully Paddy can help her through all her fears ...... ♥

When I started reading I was kinda expecting something different - something more exciting, or more ...hm no idea - more suspensy maybe.
But the book just flows along like one of those 90's rock ballads - maybe NOVEMBER RAIN by Guns'n'Roses... I really have no idea what I mean though☺ Maybe when I read the words ROCK STAR in the blurb - I kind of expected the book to be like SEX ON FIRE by Kings of Leon, but like I said, it's more of a long and slow ballad....BUT - that doesn't mean that I didn't love it - I totally did.
The only things that bothered me a bit were the overuse of ALSO and PLUS at the beginning of a sentence... I could live with one person doing that - but they all say it ☺
And the sex - while nice and sexy - I would've enjoyed it a bit sexier and dirtier - they even call it dirty all the time, but it's not dirty at all!

But all in all.....

THE BEST KIND OF TROUBLE - was a beautiful & adorably sexy Rockstar-Romance! You'll love Nat & Patrick!!!!!

I would totally sit in front of a TV every week if someone would make a tv-series out of this amazing Hurley Family!!!! Fangirling at rockstars every week??? HELL YEAH! ☺

And now - please hurry december - I soooo need to read Ezra & Tuesday's story - Tuesday btw. is Natalie's best friend!!!!

Lauren Dane has delivered another solid romance. I am already a fan, because I admire the way her characters always grow through the books. Sometimes I don't connect to the characters emotionally until partway through the story, and I think that happens in real life as well; people grow on you. Ms. Dane includes a support system of secondary characters that I would love to have as my friends, relatives or neighbors. This story is human, it will grab your heartstrings and tug many many times. The pacing is fairly even, the settings quite detailed, and the story itself well plotted and concluded.
*I was lucky enough to have requested and received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

The Best Kind of Trouble is the first steamy installment in Lauren Dane’s spin-off rocker series, The Hurley Boys. Although characters from the Delicious and Brown series make guest appearances, The Best Kind of Trouble can be read as a standalone novel.

Paddy Hurley and Natalie Clayton spent a wild couple of weeks together back when Paddy’s band, Sweet Hollow Ranch, was just beginning. Fast forward twelve years and both of them are in very different places in their lives. Sweet Hollow Ranch hit it big soon after their fling and Paddy is a well-known rock star who enjoys the perks that go along with fame and fortune. Natalie is now a librarian who values her safe, calm and controlled life. When a serendipitous meeting in a local coffee shop brings the two of them face to face, they are still attracted to one another but Natalie wants nothing to do with Paddy or his rock and roll lifestyle. Paddy has done a lot of maturing too but convincing Natalie that he has changed his wild ways is next to impossible.

Natalie and Paddy’s relationship is a minefield due to Natalie’s tumultuous past. She has finally found a way to leave the chaos of her childhood behind and she has firm boundaries where her family is concerned, but unfortunately, they continue to try to manipulate her. Letting Paddy into her life is not easy for her, but he slowly but steadily gains her trust. After a few missteps in the beginning, they have an open and honest relationship where they actually talk to one another about their problems and they work together to find solutions that work for both of them. The conflict that arises between them occurs fairly late in the story and wow! Total shocker that pretty much left me reeling and wondering what in the heck sparked that very out of character reaction.

Natalie and Paddy’s sex scenes are well-detailed, scorching hot and plentiful. Paddy excels at dirty talking and Natalie is stunned by how much it turns her on. For the most part, Paddy is fairly laid back and easygoing, but in the bedroom? He is in complete control which gives their encounters a bit of a dominant/submissive vibe. Nothing too over the top, but when Paddy tells Natalie what to do, she is quick to obey and she enjoys every second of it.

The Best Kind of Trouble is a truly lovely romance that is sweet yet very sexy. The cast of characters is beautifully developed, down to earth and immensely appealing. The storyline is well-executed and very realistic. Natalie and Paddy’s relationship is believable and it is such a joy watching them fall in love. It is a strong beginning to Lauren Dane’s Hurley Boys series that will leave readers very impatient for the next installment.

I received a complimentary copy for review.

The level of heat in this novel becomes clear almost from the first page and I was prepared to dislike it, but the story line slowly and gradually pulled me in, just as librarian Natalie Clayton is made a loved member of Patrick Hurley's family even as he convinces her that he loves her, too.

Natalie's history with a drug-using dysfunctional father and a missing mother makes her distrustful of others, and Paddy's devil-may-care attitude at times is hard to take, which makes his near-destruction of what they have understandable though frustrating. I only wish that terrible father was finally dealt with. Perhaps that will happen in the next book in this series.

This book provided great entertainment for me and I shall read more of her offerings; it is not for the "faint of heart" (a Christian Romance). Though there was no suspense, there was lots of great relationship "dealings" and I especially enjoyed the family interactions. Unfortunately the heroine's childhood hits to close to home for far too many which is a very sad thing - my heart goes out to these individuals who experienced an unfortunate childhood but I applaud them for rising above it. May God bless you!

I really enjoyed Paddy and Natalie.

Paddy is...well a rock star, need I say more? And Nat was just well rounded and one of the girls you just can't hate but do hate because she is too perfect.

Totally read the other before this one but that didn't make too much of a difference.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for review

I loved the Lauren Dane books I have previously read, but this one was just off for me. How many different times would they say push my buttons. It got old. Don't get me wrong the Hurley Boys are hot and they're rock stars, but there was just a little to much personal history angst in her. I'm looking forward to Ezra and Vaughn's HEA. On a side not we get to see Adrian Brown from the Brown siblings series.

The Best Kind of Trouble
Lauren Dane
Harlequin HQN, Aug 26 2014, $7.99
ISBN 9780373779345

In Hood River, Oregon librarian Natalie Clayton stops at Common Grounds for coffee on her way to work when Sweet Hollow Ranch rocker Paddy Hurley arrives in need of caffeine. Before even turning around, Natalie identifies by the voice a man she shared two weeks of love-making a lifetime ago. When Paddy sees her he recognizes her mouth from the greatest two weeks of his life. She denies being the tattooed pixie who worked at a dive in Portland; as she muses to herself that was a different Natalie.

Every morning when Natalie stops for her coffee, Paddy greets her by asking her to go out with him. Though she declines he refuses to quit asking. After consistent rejections, Paddy erodes some of her resistance and Natalie agrees to go on a date. As they fall in love, Paddy knows he must somehow break down the remaining protective barriers Natalie constructed as a means to escape her ugly childhood, but errs in his efforts.

The first Hurley Brothers romance is an engaging second chance at love starring two to nice protagonists. The leads come from polar opposite types of families in which his nicely supports him, and hers, especially daddy dearest, mostly trashes her; the townsfolk particularly her roommate Tuesday Eastwood have become her surrogate loving “family”. Although the storyline follows the most obvious path, The Best Kind of Trouble is falling in love.

Lauren Dane is one of my favorite authors. You add that to the Pacific NW locations in the story, the great Hurley family and she knocks out another winner. You won't be disappointed in this book if you are looking for love, romance, and great characters.

I don't generally write reviews, but this definitely needs mention. The first time I read this I noticed a couple mistakes, but didn't think much of it. For whatever reason, I decided to read it again. I think it has a lot of potential, however, there are continuity errors, grammatical errors especially with the use of quotations, and the word "buttons" and surrounding conversation is used overtly much. I also have issues with the climax and the very few pages to the end, but that's my opinion not facts.

Disclaimer: I could not even finish the book. So this is 53% of my review of The Best Kind of Trouble

I realize that I'm in the minority of readers who did not find this a wonderful and titillating read. I will be the first to hand down a dissenting opinion and take one for the collective team.

Initially, I was excited about this series. I loved the Brown series, I was apathetic towards the Petal, Georgia series and I figured this would be a divine tie breaker. Upon reading the first chapter it felt like I started this mid-series. You know that impossible situation where you read the second book first, the first book second and by the third you feel like you got cheated by the organic flow of events. Paddy and Nit-Picky (aka Natalie) met previously in their youth where they had fantastic chemistry and fornicated like bunnies. Ok......Can we go back there, spend some time with this couple in the dive bar where they met because chemistry in modern day Hood River is something out of 50 Shades of Beige. I would love to see the back story rather than read about Paddy stalking Nit-Picky at the coffee house and bribing her with high caloric treats in order to talk about old times. Don't you know Paddy, that a woman's short haircut is the universal sign for you no longer know me even if we slept together. Hair above the ears means "move along" in almost any language. Still with what would seem like a dim-witted perseverance, Paddy continues to show up every morning before her gig at the library and then after work. Apparently, semi-retired rock stars have a lot of time on their hands.

Lets fast forward, oh who am I kidding, lets read what seems like forever to when Paddy and Nit-Picky finally can no longer fight their lustful yearnings for one another. Then we have to hear about Nit-Picky's endless boundary issues. Of course she's only letting us readers in on it. Paddy is left in the dark. Nit-Picky isn't going to tell him beforehand what her hot-buttons are, no that would be too easy. Instead, Nit-Picky is going to wait until Paddy crosses the boundary of no warning and she is going throw a fit and then pout for a week. Only, to call and say I have boundaries, by God, and you can't cross them. She's still going to remain somewhat vague, just to keep it interesting, but she HAS boundaries!

Then out of no where, we are inundated with nonsense like Group 1022, Mary's cooking, Ezra's goats and numerous flashbacks of Nit-Picky cleaning up vomit. All superfluous flora and fauna that just increased word count and my misery. Except at some points in the pointless conversations between Paddy and Nit-Picky, I did find my mind wondering what was happening with Ezra's goats. I guess if I can come by book 2 for free, I may find out. I doubt it though, because it centers around a character name Tuesday Eastwood. That's not even slightly believable. Although I'm not afraid to admit that I am intrigued by a sheep farmer looking for an interracial romance. We'll leave that for another review.

Lastly, I was truly annoyed with the whole Libraries are safe havens subtext. Please.... the majority of people will be reading this book on their e-readers which they digitally downloaded. How many of us have been in a library lately? Is anyone missing the magic that is the Dewey decimal system or the combatant old librarian who reams you a new one for crinkling the microfiche after she gave you a 30 second tutorial on how to load it. And, oh how my friends laugh about the joyous hours we'd spent looking up reference material only to be told you're not allowed to check it out. Ultimately, spending our weekly allowance a nickel at a time for photocopies. If Lauren Dane wanted to conserve the need for libraries, don't offer a digital format. Otherwise, we are all going to stay in our pajama pants, order our books online and teach our kindergarteners how to use Wikipedia.

A book isn't for you if A) you're thinking about a supporting character's livestock more than the main characters B) when you're having PTSD flashbacks from library trips gone awry and C) when you make it through 53% of a book and still have no idea what it's about, where it's going or why you should care. I wonder if goats like donuts.
