This book is a treasury of relevant scientific theories and findings; none of the wishy washy vague nonsense they teach in other books, this is practical real world advice, that tries to back itself up with science, and is honest about itself. The exercises are all explained, so that the reader knows the how and why, and they work. This is a must have for anyone wanting to improve their art, regardless of the level they may be at.

Blah, blah-blah, blah-blah! This book could be so much more with a lot less words. Good reading if you want to go to sleep easily. It does contain useful techniques to help you see. The assignments make you go through the process of seeing to become better at drawing. It's a good compilation of techniques found in other books, just so very wordy...

I credit Betty Edwards' books on drawing on the right side of the brain with my artistic awakening. Her books provided me with the critical point missing from my jr high and high school art classes. I highly recommend any and all of her books.

Book currently used by Instructor here in Perth , Western Australia , as basis of Art Class . Have found it personally very useful for right/left brain crossover . Book is ideal for expanding creativity in ALL areas of one's life . Highly recommend it as a life skill resource . Also good as a way of starting Art . Not recommended for someone who only wants technical assistance for drawing

This is an absolutely amazing method of learning to SEE more accurately and then to draw what you see for accurate perception and realistic representation. As an art instructor, there is no greater thrill than witnessing the growth of confidence in anyone who uses this method. Years of intimidation can fall away like magic. Drawing well is truly a matter of PRACTICE and the author Betty Edwards presents a concrete set of lessons to bring that about.

The only problem I have is with the policy of the store in limiting the number of books that I can order of this title. Limiting my purchase to a total of only three copies is EXTREMELY frustrating when I schedule my drawing classes. PLEASE change this policy. I have already communicated by email and phone about this and there still is no change.

I've always been a horrendous artist. This book, studied and applied correctly helped me become less so. I love it. I'm no longer confined to the simplicity of stick figures. I actually doodle now. It's an amazing feeling and I highly recommend it.

Comprehensive summary on how to get yourself into drawing - It taught me in high school, and it's teaching me again now that I've gone off to college. I love this book and hope to share it with my friends who want to learn how to draw! It really does let you go from 0 to awesome.

My college art instructor tried to tell his class about drawing on the right side of the brain but he could not explain it nearly as well as this book does. The exercises contained in the book are very helpful to art students.

Book is good, arrived in bad condition. I would have preferred if the cover wasn't all worn and bent up. The book itself is fantastic, and a great tool for artists to learn from. But I recommend you don't buy used if you want to use it for schooling.

This book presents a very ineresting take on art theory. It is the authors opinion that Anyone can learn to draw, somthing traditional artists would tend to take issue with. She seeks to train the eye and not as much the hands. If you access the right brain mode of truly "seeing" she feels anyone can draw. And might I say IT WORKS. Try it!!!

Truly an amazing approach to drawing and creativity through liberating, developing and "tapping into" the right side of one's brain. My family is amazed at what they are seeing me draw. An enjoyable read with practical and achievable goals.

This book was originally a Xmas request from my adult daughter who had borrowed it from the public library, loved it and wanted her own copy. So we knew the book was right for a young professional who wanted to enhance her creativity. She shared some of her enthusiasm and insights from using the book with me.
Since this was my first time ordering a book on line, I was surprised and delighted about the ease in ordering and shipping. The directions were easy to follow and I felt secure. The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
