A great follow up to the first book. Weeks ensures that the world for the protagonist grows considerably around him, but does not sacrifice character growth in the process. The action is great and slowly the deeper and more complicated world is unfolded in this second book. The story is griping and will keep you engaged. It is a great fantasy series that should not be missed by those that enjoy Sword fights, magic and assassins.

i really enjoyed book 1 in the series. watching kylar grow into his 'destiny' kept me interested from cover to cover. this book however is largely a snooze-fest. whoever convinced mr weeks that adding sex scenes and continually harping on kylar's fawning over elene would be a good idea, did him a serious injustice. i find myself at the midway of the book wishing someone would just kill her off already, and debating putting the book away.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF BOB WOULD SOMEONE KILL ELENE!!!!

I really enjoyed the series, some people said they were too long or too wordy, but I care to disagree. I think for the most part Weeks did an excellent job on character development and he introduced us to them in an easy way, which allowed for easier access to his story. I would definitely read it again, who isn't up for wet boys, love, magic, and tragedy? It's a good read.

Good sword and magic fantasy trilogy. Interesting, conflicted characters. Feudal/agrarian setting. Multi story line with "cliff-hanger" chapters jump between major characters so it's not a go-to-sleep book.

Author has created an intriguing world that mixes magic and violence with characters that still deal with basic values like loyalty and love.

One feature I would have LOVED for the kindle edition - have the "dictionary" feature help with some character or location references.

The book is a continuation of the first book, that was very good, but is weaker then the first.
This is the book not of a growing up of a boy and it's mentoring like the first - but a revelation of what exactly was it that the main character won.
But it's much more of a adventure book and less of a inner workings of the charaters book.
The book suffers from it and turns more into a action film like book, and less dark inner workings of the characters.
It's till a very dark theamed book with no happy characters in it like the first.

This book gets you interested from the beginning. I am not a fan of fantasy books but my son-in-law said it was a really good book so I thought why not? I really enjoyed the book and could not put it down. I bought the other two books and they kept me captivated, I was sorry there wasn't more books to this storyline when I finished.

Great book, only took two days to read! Would have been five stars if the book include game glossary of terms and people. The series has a bunch of new names for items and people that can be hard to follow or some that you just won't ever know their meaning....Other than that it is a great second book......now on to the third:)

Of all of my favorite books this one is definitely second in the trilogy. I could not get enough. Anyone who has read the first book and stopped there, wow, just ... wow. That would be a seriously dumb thing to do.

The epitome of second entries in a trilogy. Where as most simply start a new story within the overall arc of the plot to be completed in the third book, Shadow's Edge is a complete story within itself while contributing perfectly to the greater Night Angel story.
