This book was a bit of a disappointment. It was very short; I finished it in about 30 mins. (It's true.)The pictures were good, but I wanted more pics of tributes in the arena... the book ended with Katniss in the launching room... overall, a waste of precious time and money. I wish I'd never gotten this. Is it possible to remove books from your account and get your money back too?
ps. If you're wondering why I gave this book three stars if I didn't like it, I haven't seen the movie and seeing everything was fun.

Ultimately, this book tells us little more than the movie did. There were few tributes that we did not get to know in the movie, and this book did little to tell us anymore. It showed pictures of the unnamed tributes, and also called them "Unnamed Tribute from District..." It was a little disappointing.

This book was a good book, with nice pictures, but I would no say that it was the ULTIMATE tribute guide, or even a tribute guide at all. I would call it either The Hunger Games: Movie review. or The Hunger Games: beginners guide, but the pictures were good and there was almost no info on the tributes.

As an avid Hunger Games fan, this book is a must have. I now have a pin, necklace, phone case, and a watch. All I was missing was something to read in all my new gear. THIS WAS PERFECT. I don't know what they were reading... but it was helpful, it contained a list of information, and do not listen to all those 1 and 2 star-ers. They just want something to complain about. It's a great read, and I recommend it to EVERYONE!

I ordered this for my son for the Kindle simply because he enjoyed the trilogy and was looking forward to seeing the faces with the names. It's even better now because I've recently purchased the Kindle Fire, so now we can see it in color!!!! We can't wait to see the movie!!

Item arrived on time and in good condition with only one aggravating thing. There was a sticker on the upper right corner that was hard to remove and, when it was, left behind a sticky residue that I have been unable to completely remove.

I am absolutely obsessed with The Hunger Games, and this book opened the doors to the not yet released movie, it has pictures that no one has seen, and great quotes, and info. I love it. If you want to buy, this or are questioning if you should, the answer is yes. It is worth it.

I already knew this stuff poi dogs are awesome!!!!!! I like ,herself and purple ninja unicorns. The book should have close ups of the tribute's opening ceremony chariots and info that you couldn't have gotten while seeing the movie or reading the books!

I read this book after reading all 3 hunger games books. After finishing them, I really wanted to read more about each district. So I looked around the kindle book store, and found this, downloaded the sample and decided to buy it...bad idea. I finsished reading the enitre book ( because it was mostly pictures) in about 30 minutes, which kind of made me angry, because it cost the same as the hunger games books.but besides that, the author was a very "enthusiastic" writer, in the most annoying way possible. It seemed like every other sentence ended in an exclamation point.
all in all, if I could, I would get a refund.

This is supposed to be the "ultimate" tribute guide. I can assure you it's not. The most you really learn about the tributes is a picture, district, their name, gender, height and what weapon they use in the arena (ie Katniss bow and arrow, Marvel Spear). Not much else. (As a matter of fact, most are just "Tribute Girl" because they die so early). The rest is a short recap of the event leading up to the games. There is nothing insightful here. Maybe a few interesting pictures from the movies, but most are already in the trailer or splattered on the web. It is also *very* careful to not give away any secrets (ie how Katniss earns her high score from the judges). It took me about 15 minutes to read the book cover to cover and learned nothing new. If looking for a good recap of all the tributes, check out wikipedia and various other sources on the web.

It's an OK book, written from an in-universe Capitol-sympathizing point of view. If you've read the original trilogy and seen the movie, then there's nothing in here that will surprise you or is worth reading about. I'd recommend this book only for someone who hasn't read the books and only has seen the movie.

Good: nice logos of all 12 districts and close-up face pictures of all 24 tributes seen in The Hunger Games movie - the reason I would recommend this book to someone who has already read the books and seen the movie (although you could probably find the on the internet too). Clear description of anything related to the Hunger Games event leading up to entering the arena, no spoilers as to who will win.

Cons: small format (about the size of a trade paperback) - it would have looked much better twice this size. Also, the binding is quite tight, which makes photos that spread over two pages are difficult to view in the middle. Spoilers about everything that happens up to when the tributes are ready to enter the arena. I also would have liked descriptions and full size photos of all parade costumes, but they get only brief mentions and a few small photos.

And last, just a note: don't be surprised that most tributes in this book are identified only as 'tribute boy' or 'tribute girl' - they weren't named in the novels or the movie.

With the anticipation of The Hunger Games movie in cinemas soon I wanted to read as much as I could about them. Seeing this in our local book shop I brought it.

The book is full of pictures from the movie; it gives pictorially a great sense for the film. I loved the pictures and can't wait to see the captures on the big screen. The different sections of the book showed us more not seen before pictures and were brilliant for any Hunger Games Fan.

I really liked the profiles of the characters. I feel this section shed some light on the major characters from the film.

The written part of the book leads up to just before Katniss is launched into the arena. It is a much shorter less detailed version of the novel and I felt was written for a much younger age group.

I did enjoy the book and I feel that it is a good way to introduce the film and the start of Katniss's story.

I would give The Hunger Games: Tribute Guide a 4/5 - A must for ANY Hunger Games Fan.

This book was pretty good. It was kind of like a catalogue of all the characters. It was as if you were in the Capitol, flipping through a magazine about the tributes. It had some lines that the characters said and explained all of the characters weaknesses, weapons, and strengths. It made me wonder if in Panem they had books like this so they could place their bets on who they thought would win. If you were a fan of the Hunger Games series, I definitely suggest this. It's a really quick read and it's quite enjoyable.

I agree with most of the other reviewers that this isn't the "ultimate" tribute guide. My own copy hasn't arrived yet (today hopefully) but I've flipped through a copy at the local bookstore. It doesn't provide much information but the tributes, but it is just enough to get one curious. Personally, as an amateur costumer/cosplayer, I find the book interesting as I can see some of the details of each tribute's gear. That's what interest me the most, honestly.

My honest opinion is to borrow a friend's copy before you purchase this book. Some may find it a good investment, but others understandably do not.

I did finally get my copy, and some of the tribute pages are tinged green. I don't know if that's just my copy specifically or if a batch is like that. It's only about 4 of the boy tribute pages so it doesn't bother me much.

I don't know what people are having trouble with. The Hunger Games thing is huge so everything's getting split up. I haven't gotten the movie guide yet but the Tribute Guide is great. It's not really meant to do anything more than help you sort through the tributes and a couple other characters. I saw the movie first, but reading this after was helpful since some of the movie consists of jumbles of people running around like maniacs or people out of focus in the background. By the way, for those of you who didn't like the movie because of those scenes, that's supposed to happen in those kinds of situations. I would've preferred that all the Tributes have names but they don't in the books so there's no reason to expect that they would've done that in the movie or the Tribute Guide. It's good to see the faces though since the actors deserve to be seen even if they die really early.

I loved this book but you probably shouldn't get this book if you have read the books, seen the movies and are looking for some big inside scoop. The only differences I found in this book were small details like each tributes height, things like that.I love this book but the heights are not the real life characters height for example:in the book it says Peeta is 5'10 but in real life Josh Hutcherson is 5'7.But over all I really like this book.By the way if you are wanting a book that will take you a few days to read I don't recommend this book,I read it in about an hour and a half or two hours.

Personally I think it could have went into a little further detail, but come on. Do you really need an 8 paragraph essay about each tribute? NO! I think it gives you the minimum amount so that your satisfied and happy that you bought it. If your a true hunger games fan you will certainly love this, but if your very ignorant and picky than you won't. I think its perfect, but I am the hunger games #1 fan.

Like many Hunger Games fans, I was eager to read this book as well as the Illustrated Movie Guide and The World of the Hunger Games. I was especially anxious for this one because I struggled with character overload in the trilogy. There are so many characters and not all of them particularly well developed, so I thought this would help solidify the information in my brain.

The book is basically a summary of the first novel. While the novels are classified as young adult (and I would argue that the themes would make them adult), this companion published by Scholastic is geared towards grade schoolers or the casual reader who skipped the novels but wanted a little information before heading to the movies. It's a quick read at 30 minutes or so.

In addition to the summary there is a picture of each tribute and any vital information given about them in the novel. This was helpful and it was nice to identify each teen with their district and see a name (if there was one) with a face. There are also stills from the movie.

Another reviewer mentioned that the writer was very "enthusiastic." That is to say, there are a lot of exclamation points. I actually found this to be the most interesting and thought provoking part of the book. I'm not sure if the author was enthusiastic, didn't read the novels, didn't understand the novels, or is a socialist. The novels clearly warn of big government and socialism. I think they could be the modern day Animal Farm (and much more interesting to boot!). I'm surprised that Collins approved this as it seems to be a infomercial for all the things she appears to be against (based on her writings). For example, the book talks about how each district plays a vital role, produces something important, and that the Capitol collects the goods and redistributes them so that everyone has what they need. And yay! Katniss gets to be prettied up for the Games! Isn't that exciting! And look! There are avox servants! How wonderful! And it just goes on and on. It was really nauseating.

If I were writing a paper on the novels, this would be a very interesting source.

The Hunger Games Tribute Guide is a quick read and it sure got me excited to see the movie! It was a nice refresher of the details of how the Hunger Games work. I felt such irony and sarcasm coming from the pages. But more than half of the tributes didn't even have names. Seriously - this is a TRIBUTE GUIDE. How can they not have names? They need freakin' names. The pictures are nice and I'm totally ready to see the movie now! I also enjoyed the way it was written - like it was a pamphlet that people in the capitol would read.

It's been a while ... I got a copy of The Hunger Games Tribute Guide to refresh my memory on what happened in the first novel of The Hunger Games trilogy before watching the movie. I think calling it the "ultimate" guide is a bit of a stretch. It kind of reminded me of the play bills that you get at a theater. You get a high-level overview of the game (from how the tributes are chosen and groomed, up to just before the game starts) and pictures of the movie characters. It's spoiler-free.

Pictures: If you have been following the progress of the movie on the Web (even a little bit), you've probably already seen most of the pictures in the book (in stills or in the trailer). There is not much new to see. There are pictures of each tribute with a caption listing their name, district, gender, height and weapon of choice in the arena. Unfortunately, most of the tributes have no name listed. Even though many of the tributes were only referenced by district number in the book, it was still somewhat of a letdown to see "Tribute Girl" or "Tribute Boy" listed on most of the profile pictures.

Having already read the book and seen most of the pictures, The Hunger Games Tribute Guide didn't really add much to my fan experience. I liked the The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion better.

Recommended for:
- People who have not read The Hunger Games
- People who want The Hunger Games collector items

Everyone else:
- Flip through it at the library or bookstore

I like to think of the Tribute Guide as a cheat sheet for anyone who has not yet read the Hunger Games but is interested in the movie. While fans of the books will enjoy the movie stills and commentary, anyone who has not read the books will get a little background into what the Hunger Games is all about. Though, I would strongly recommend reading the book first, this little guide will be a wonderful read for all.

The guide gives a little history about the games, walks through The Reaping and how it works, travels with the tributes on the train to the Capitol and then gives an illustrated look at all the tributes, districts and the training that they go through to the point leading up to the games.

I found it delightful and I think it will be a great experience for anyone who has interest in viewing the 74th Annual Hunger Games.

If you are expecting some profound insights into the world of The Hunger Games or hidden gems of information that you might have missed when viewing the movie, then this is probably not the purchase for you. However, this book does help you get visually acquainted with all the district tributes even the blink and you miss them tributes that get the ax pretty early. The movie stills are nice and the district seals are an interesting addition. The general information that is given provide a refresher course to the casual reader but does not really dive into obscure factoids. For the price of the book you might not be satisfied with the content but for avid fans any piece of the Hunger Games mythology is a must have.

At first I though there would be a bit more writing to this, but when I read it, it ROCKED. My favorite character is Clove so this book really did show ALL the tributes. I am really happy that I learned more about my favorite character! I am planning to download this on my iPad for full color. I am not joking. This is NOT a waste of money! It is perfect for Hunger Games fans like me. This still gave me more information (about other characters, not just Katniss) even though I've read the series 14 times, the first book 36 times, the second book 24 times and the third book 15 times. This is a must must must must must read book! I learned alot about Clove (my most favorite character)!

If it is a book on the Hunger Games, you can bet I am going to buy it and drool over it. When I received this guide for review, I did not hesitate in jumping right into it. Unfortunately, it was not what I was really expecting.

We get to see wonderful pictures from the upcoming movie, but nothing really new that we haven't seen from released trailers. It is set up in sections from explaining the reason for the Hunger Games all the way to where Katniss enters the arena. It has color photos of each tribute with little facts on each one leaving the reader with no more information than what we started with after reading the series.

While it is great as a refresher book to remind us of the original story we have already read, it wasn't something that really added to the experience. The photos were the only added bonus but not enough to make me really excited. If you are a hardcore fanatic for this series, then add it to your collection. Otherwise, you might want to pass on this one and see if something better comes out.

This is a fantastic book, it isn't too long or too short. When I first bought the book it looked okay. But the inside is insanely surreal. Showing pictures, and information of all the tributes and district 12's Haymitch, Katniss, Peeta, Cinna, and Effie. It is a great companion to the Hunger Games and all fans of the books or movies would surely adore this guide.

This wasn't so much a book to read as it was a book of photos of actors from the movie. Maybe a fun resource for younger kids who've read the book, but even high school teens who read the books and/or watched the movie won't be entertained by this book for long.

i am an avid hunger games fan so i thought this book would be great to find out more about the other tributes, but boy was i wrong. this book has all the information yo already know from reading the books. it just gives you a quick re cap and i hardly learned anything new at all about the tributes. the book only states the height, weapon, name of the tributes. this book was quite boring and i feel that i had my money wasted. the author could includeher theorys about the tributes and more, which would make it more interesting. so basically this book was a waste of money, based on info we already know and not creative at all.

This is a terrible book! All you have to do is read the real books and you could get this information and more. There were only few tributes she had information on, some we're even labeled "tribute gir "tribute boy". I also did not know why Foxface's profile said Foxface because that was only Katniss's nickname for her. If you want information buy the Hunger Games trilogy. This is a terrible excuse for the real books! She states her opinion on things such as when she said "a tall dark haired handsome man" (Gale) I hate that. Also if you enjoy the pictures you should watch the movie on the real books because that's all the pictures are, sections of the movie. You might enjoy how she doesn't spoil surprises but I do not. She didn't even know if Gale was her cousin or not! I mean really Emily watch the movie. I hope this is your first book because you have a long way to go. This is definitely not the ultimate tribute guide.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Being a huge fan of the Hunger Games trilogy, I decided to buy this "guide". I was dissapointed. It's basically a couple of pictures from the movie along with a badly-written summary of the first movie. There's a section with "information" about the tributes, which is just a picture and their district. Only some of them even have the tribute's name (important people like Katniss or Cato), the rest are just labled "Tribute Girl" or "Tribute Boy". Interestingly, Foxface's name is actually in the guide as Foxface, which makes no sense, because that's only Katniss' nickname for her.

This book is really awesome but I gave it four stars for the information and the cool tribute pics but the reason it didn't get five stars was because it's mainly focusing on the District 12 tributes and the book is way too short to get five stars.

But not as good as it could be. I'd like to know how they died, a little background info if any, and other things could've been better like if they had put individual pictures of their tribute parade costume on their pages. If they were a career or not. Things like that. A good quick reference, but not good if you read the book and saw the movie already and remember like 2/5 of it.

Some of the pictures were slightly intresting but the book itself wasn't great.I love the hunger games collection itself but this just was not worth my time and money and probably won't be worth yours.Certanly not the "ultimate"tribute guide. What confused me was the fact that the book ended before the actual games began.

Don't waste your money on this one. I really enjoyed The Hunger Games Official Illustrated Movie Companion, which had lots of new information and high-quality photos. This, on the other hand, is worthy of those talentless designers who kept putting District 12 tributes in coal miners' costumes. The photos are nothing new and are very poor quality; dozens of similar images with better resolution can be found on the web. I didn't see any new information, either. It was a reasonable concept, but the execution is so poor that Scholastic should be ashamed of itself. Really, they are making plenty of money on this franchise: why cheapen it with this kind of blatant low-budget promotion when they have shown that they can do so much better?
