I love Christi writing. This was a lovely historical romance, about finding love and helping someone find himself after a loss of someone he loved. I loved the richness of the characters and they love & understanding of family and what they can bring to each of us in our relationships both the bad and the good.

My very first Christi Caldwell book and it will most definitely not be my last. I truly enjoyed the tale she spun on this romance. I enjoyed her delving into the extreme love loss and the fight to get to the HEA of love found.
A few romance spots nothing over the top.

High five......stars!

Totally enjoyed this book. Everything you might be looking for in a book. A bit of romance, a bit of intrigue and some comical moments as well. A good book to enjoy if you're just looking for a light, pleasurable read.

“Katherine, the devilish imp and spirited vixen seemed incapable of guile. She wore her every emotion on her face. Jasper had the dark look in his eyes that would have made the most seasoned infantry many uneasy but his kiss was what drove poets to memorialize their words upon a written page and drove women to sin.” Ms. Caldwell is a delightful author and you should read the entire series. You won’t be disappointed.

I absolutely adore this book! So many emotions! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my kindle a time or two (of course I refrained because I love my kindle and would not do it harm lol) I enjoyed this book so much! A Must read for anyone who loves a good Regency Romance ♡

This is a gut wrenching story of love lost. Death can be cruel to those who remain behind. It take a strong person to to fall in love with someone for whom there is nothing left in this world to love.

The beginning of a wonderful series. I have read this book twice and enjoyed it both times. Christi Caldwell has a talent for building good story lines with strong lead characters. She always leaves room for the supporting cast to shine as well. A great way to start a series.

A beautifully told story of a frozen heart and the thawing of it. The characters are well developed and entertaining. This is a stand alone book with no cliffhangers. I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys Regency romances. Kudos on a lovely and happy ending.

First time reading a Christi Caldwell novel, the story line was an emotional one. The heroine of the story wasn't like most character females written for this period she had back bone and sass. Jasper hurt ran deep in him and he couldn't get the blinders off but Katherine was a good thing to happen to him.

The story was wonderful and put me right there with wonderful characters. Warm and affectionate romance between two characters who had not experienced loving parents was the basis of the story. The winter scenery felt real. And the story was well written. Thanks.

Christi Caldwell tells a beautiful but heart wrenching story about Jasper, the Duke of Bainbridge and Katherine in this novel. She shows the struggle that Jasper goes through with the loss of his wife and son before he realizes the love he has for he Katherine really touches your heart.

While the story was quite interesting I found it became boring with the wounded souls of the characters.
It would have been so much better with the other characters being more entertaining. They just appeared and disappeared in the book.

Be prepared for all of your emotions to display themselves! I laughed, cried, giggled, and felt horror for the wonderful characters in this story. I only put it down because my son came to visit and didn't appreciate it.

I read the other books with the heart necklace and was happy to read about the twins now young ladies . Christi writes heroes with deep scars and heroines to match. Never disappoints , happy reading.

A lovely historical novel on the theme of Beauty and the Beast.
Christi Caldwell crafted a great romance with sensitivity. The characters she used stand out strongly.
I will be reading a lot more from her!

I really enjoyed Jasper and Katherine's story. When you least expect it, you might find the right person. Neither is looking for love, but still find their way to happy ever after. I'm looking forward to reading more by Christi Caldwell.

Excellent novel! Kathrine and Jasper's story was unique and well written. I enjoyed the character and qualities of both the H and h, especially appreciated that the H was not 'the usual' rake or womanizer (get very tired of that!).

Another good story with a twist in it.Some reviews did care for it but I decided to go for it and ended up liking it very much.Different story of 2 people who had to overcome some problems before they can reach any kind of peace together.

Loved it! Katherine was a strong, witty, and headstrong young woman. Jasper was the broken-hearted duke who saved her, then she turned around in the end and saved him! Doesn't hurt that Katherine had a strong right hook...

Wow! I loved this book so much! Christi Caldwell's writing rivals my favorite historical writer, Lisa Kleypas, and that is saying a lot! Lisa Kleypas is the reason I love historicals. I will most definitely be reading all of Christi's books. Now I have to decide which one I should read next?! Decisions, decisions! : )

After reading a string of dark romances and predictable contemporaries, this book was like a breath of fresh air. Jasper and Kat are the perfect mix of strength and vulnerability. Watching them grow as their love developed is what makes this such an enjoyable read. Well done!!

The story of Katherine and Jasper is a wonderful account of how our hearts are capable of loving again. Jasper lost his first wife and child during childbirth and vowed never to marry again until he pulls Katherine from the Thames River. Love begins for both. This is a wonderful story.

Katherine and Jasper have a beautiful story you will want to read. Their journey was a hard one, I cried, I laughed and laughed some more. Katherine's sense of humor and stubbornness was a great addition to their story.

Katherine the unremarkable twin. Brown eyes, brown hair in ringlets. She is the younger always getting pulled in to follow her twin sister Anne. If dreams & wishes would come true maybe they can capture the heart of a Duke.

Very readable. this book has a spirited heroine and a tortured hero. The romantic tension between the hero and heroine could have been resolved a few chapters earlier if they'd just used their words. Sex preset but never felt gratituious.

The story was fun to read and clipped right along. I had a great time reading and it kept me up late at night. The characters were over the top but believable. I look forward to reading more of Caldwell's book.

I happily read this novel within a day. While there were a few inconsistencies and typographical errors, the storyline was generally strong. However, I struggled with the believability of the hero's perspective at times.

This book was incredibly great! It has a story of love, history of a pendant(which gives it a sort of magical twist) a heroic rescue, passion, a handsome gloomy duke and a spirited women who helps him see life worth living again. Which of course leads to some great passionate moments. An absolute must read!!

This hero vowed to remain unwed and celibate due to the loss of his first love, his wife. Christmas held nothing but, sad, horrible memories. Everything changed when Lady Katherine 'fell' into his life and it would never be the same again. A great read.

Love the series! Sisters, a charmed necklace, romance, ...... what more could you want! I love that Ms. Caldwell makes her women strong, loyal to their family, and determined to go through whatever they have to to pull the family out of debt. Love the humor --- I actually laughed out loud in some parts.

The surly Duke of Bainbridge, Jasper Waincourt, was such a boor and fixated on living a gloomy life in dedication to a dead wife and child. Katharine Adamson seemed overly patient and desperate. I was bored. There was no spark in the relationship between Jasper and Katharine and very subdued reactions by others to the Duke's treatment of Katharine. I could not believe there was no confrontation or dialogue between Micheal, Aldora's husband and the Duke. Not sure if I like the writing style which was devoid of conversation, focusing more on the H/H inner angst which was tedious as it bogged down the romance aspect of the book. I would not describe this as a beautifully written story.
