This is a well-written and investigated work based on a true story. Jerry Bledsoe is certainly a talented and gifted writer. He examines all aspects of this story, from the main characters, their background and lives to those who were in charge of investigating the crimes. The fact that the people involved were affluent, socially prominent, well educated and well known adds to the mystery. Though they were upper middle class and wealthy, they were good, Christians who certainly did not deserve to die in such a horrific manner, being mutilated and stabbed. The plot centers around the Sharp, Newsom and Lynch families whose common thread is the marriage of Susie Sharp Newsom to Thomas Lynch. Their marriage lasts 10 years, but proves to be full of conflict and dysharmony with both parties fighting for custody of their sons. Ultimately this will lead to disastrous results as Susie loses her grip on reality and descends into a world of madness. Along with Fritz, they plan the murders of their family members.

I have read many fiction mystery and suspense crime books, but none have had the deep effect of this book. It will haunt your dreams and the images of death will stay with you long after you have read the last page. I encourage others to read this book.

Started reading this book and was wondering where it was leading to in the first couple of chapters. The more I got into the story I found I could not leave the book down. Terrific read but terrible tragedy in a family. Jerry Bledsoe is a great writer and I will certainly be reading his other books.

Great read but it becomes a bit confusing aver several chapters. I don't think there was a less complicated way to present all the family members, dates and events. Very hard to simplify but once it started coming together - Wow!

My grandmother gave the true story to Jerry Bledsoe so he could write this true story book. My grandmother worked for this family in the book that got murdered, and Mr. Bledsoe barley or i dont recal seeing her name in this book. If it wasn't for her he wouldn't have much in this book to write about!!! He promised her things that he didn't keep. She should have been in this book!!!! The book is amazing because of the information he got from my grandmother.

A twisted. twisting convoluted tale that would be too incredible for a movie thriller. The interesting part is that the whole story is not known and never will be with most likely perpetrators dead in indistinct conditions as to just who killed who.

This was a very compelling story told by a gifted storyteller. However, the book was poorly edited with numerous misspellings and outright misused words, most likely the result of the dreaded "typo." It does neither the page-turning story nor the wonderful author any justice to publish this book in such a sloppy fashion.

This author does a great job trying to understand the whys that regrettably never have an answer. If we live long enough we all have instances that happen that we never have an answer for. You can make yourself crazy trying to find that answer "why"

The one problem in this book was sometimes losing track of how one person fit in the story. There were too many people that were effected by this tragedy. But this book delved very deeply into all aspects of this crime. This also included the lives of the police officers that investigated the crimes. This book and its relating of the multiple crimes will remain with me for a long time.

At first I had trouble following all of the connections among the different characters because there were so many, but it finally clicked. I was very interested in this whole story because of hearing about it along with the haunted house attraction of the doctor's clinic in Reidsville. Crazy. Very sad story overall.

This was a very unusual and interesting story. I remember when this happened as I live in the next city over, but I did not realize what all was behind it. It is scary to think there are other people like this out there.

After watching this story on cable, I had to read about this almost unbelievable case.
This book is very well-written and the author makes you feel you know the characters
and feel empathy for them. It's amazing how 2 people can cause so much destruction of
innocent lives. Highly recommended.
