I have to say I’m disappointed with this series. I’ve read most of her other books and they usually come with an in depth story and emotions. These are lacking. These come across as an early writer before they develop. It makes me sad since these had such a good chance of being better stories. I would not have wrote this if I had not read her wild riders and knew she could do much better.

Another great read from Jaci Burton. Her books have never disappointed and neither did this one. Even though it was a little out my usual genre (auto racing) it still entertains and smokes! Highly recommend it.

Long boring story. There was not much to draw you into either character. There was certainly no big romance. Not any grand finale. It wad like pulling on and old pair of shoes, you know they fit, but lack pizzazz

Jaci Burton has done it again! I absolutely love the Play By Play series. The way she captures every character and their emotions. Its not just smut, there's a love story behind each one. And also.....who doesn't love fantasizing about hot guys who play sports and drive race cars! ;-)

Great latest addition to a great series. We were teased with bits of info on Molly and Carter in the previous books in this series and their story did not disappoint. Loved it and especially enjoyed the glimpes and cameos of favored characters in the prior books that all overlap, giving you a chance to reconnect with them as well. Can't say enough about these books and this author. She never disappoints, nor do her books, and I eagerly await the next addition to this fantastic series!!

If you've been reading this series from the beginning you had to have known this book was inevitable. And as the reader we are privy to enough to know the gist of what happened in the past with Molly and Carter, but it's satisfying to finally get the whole story.
Carter was so very patient with Molly. I totally get why she was upset with him, especially given their ages when everything went down. But she never gave a thought as to his feelings or gave him the support he needed. That actually didn't make me dislike Molly, again she was young when everything happened. Although this story takes place many, many years later, she still is stuck in that moment in time when it comes to Carter. I liked how the author had Molly realize she was viewing her whole relationship with Carter through that one moment...stuck remembering bad times instead of the years of good they had. That happens so much in real life. Even after it was acknowledged, Molly still had a problem getting past those feelings. Which I also liked since in real life, just because we know why we're doing something doesn't mean we can stop doing it.
We got to know more of the town this time around. There were a few girlfriends added now that Molly was in town since she's of a different age range than her sister. Plus, as with the last book, there was a lot of flirting going on with Bash and Chelsea. I was glad to see their story will be next.
One last thing, I love when an author references a character from their other books like an Easter egg. Jaci Burton has the characters watch a football game that has Nathan Riley, from the Play By Play series, as quarterback. It’s not anything you need to have read or know in order to read this book, but if you have read those books it’s a nice little wink.

Jaci Burton has the ability to make me fall in love with groups of characters. That feeling that they belong together and they are one happy family or group of friends always stays with me and gives me the warm fuzzy feelings. The Hope series is just like that! I’ve fallen hard for the people of Hope. When I first caught a glimpse of Molly’s character, Emma sister from HOPE FLAMES, I was immediately intrigued. What happened between her and her high school sweetheart that sent her running?
Let me admit something right now…I devoured HOPE BURNS in one sitting. Maybe it was the fact that Carter is an amazing hero, and that he knew exactly how to tame this wild cat, or maybe it’s just that this was such a sweet second chance at love romance. But everything about this book left me feeling happy and tingling.
As much as I loved the hero, I really liked the heroine too. Carter is truly a caring man. A man in love and dying for a second chance to make things right. A man who realizes his mistakes of the past and wants to move forward. But Molly is everything I like to see in a heroine. She’s tough on the outside but soft and broken on the inside. There’s years of hardening that outside shell that have gotten her to where she is today. And I suffered with her when her past was revealed. When her heart was broken. She’s done the best she can since then, and that has been running. Never staying in one place for long.
It was endearing to see them fall for each other all over again. Or simply let the feelings that never went away resurface. Confront their past. And their present. Something that Molly is not happy about and may not deal with in the best ways sometimes. But that’s what made this story even better. It was real. Molly isn’t perfect. But she’s real.
HOPE BURNS is the perfect small town romance! It’s the perfect second chance at love story! And it’s another example of how great of a storyteller Jaci Burton is. I am looking forward to reading more stories from Hope for years to come! Sexy and sweet! And probably my favorite book in this series!

After reading Hope Flames, which I really enjoyed, I have been becoming increasingly bored and frustrated with each new installment I read. They are all the same: someone has been hurt in the past and they don't believe in love but are ok with friends with benefits, but then they fall in love but something happens to pull them apart but it all works out in the end. Even the sex is boring.
And this book I was really looking forward to: Molly's big secret. Why was she running... spoiler alert, it was not 22 years of running worthy, and she annoyed the heck out of me. And how can someone who moves every few months get such great jobs when she is just going to leave again?

I loved Carter but really got tired of Molly always wanting to run away. Really...how many people leave home after high school when they break up with their boyfriend and do not come home for 12 years. Then when they start seeing each other, as friends, she continues to have panic attacks that she cannot have feeling for him or he will break her heart again. I really think the difference between the ages of 18 and 30 most people grow up and are not living in their teens anymore. OK, other than that it was a good story, love this author, Carter was amazing character, and I probably disliked Molly more than any other character in a long time. I just wanted to yell at Molly, "grow up." This is a good series with many good characters that are in all the books and I recommend them. But when you read this one...hold on to your book or kindle and do not toss when you get frustrated with Molly.

"...Jaci delivers and then some." ~Under the Covers
I've been anxiously awaiting Gray's story since he appeared in THROWN BY A CURVE. Why? Well, the stock car driver thing for one. Having read a whole series (by Erin McCarthy) that centers around that sport, I already had a soft spot for that. I couldn't wait to see what Jaci would do. And as always, Jaci delivers and then some.
ONE SWEET RIDE is not just the story of a stock car driver. There are so many layers to Gray that we get to slowly see. His father is a politician so there's a lot of that in this book as well. Especially when Evelyn turns out to be working for his father's campaign and assigned to get the problematic son on board with supporting his dad and doing some media promo for the campaign.
Gray and his father have issues. Issues that come from Gray following his dreams in what appeared to be (and was for a while) against his dad's wishes. Their relationship is strained to say the least.
When sexy Evelyn is basically glued to his side to help work with him in his dad's best interest (she works for him after all) he's very conflicted. He wants her more than any other woman, but he also admires her ambition and drive. However, she's so deep in a world that has left a sour taste in his mouth for a long time.
Gray was absolutely delicious! I don't know if he will take any top spot for fave hero in this series but he is definitely hot and sweet. Loyal to his friends and family. Respectful and supportive of his tough girl as well. He doesn't try to keep Evelyn down, but lets her fly and reach for her dreams. Even when that means less time for him or a harder relationship to handle.
This book again brings back the feel of "family" by way of the friendship between this new group of guys. Gray and his friends are like a family and their interactions feel much like the Riley family used to feel. I look forward to their easy banter and the way they relate to each other. They may tease one another but in the end they'll be there no matter what. I cannot wait to read more of that.
This book also gives us glimpses into the next two heroes and let me tell you....I AM DYING to get my paws on both! *ehem* The books, I mean, of course.

Molly Burnett dreads returning to her hometown of Hope for her sister’s wedding, especially knowing she’ll have to endure a weekend with the one man she never wants to see again. It’s only a couple of days, so Molly will try to forget her painful past with high school sweetheart Carter Richards. Because despite the bitter memories, she still can’t forget what they once meant to each other.
But when Molly is forced to extend her stay, Carter sees this as his second chance to do things right, to start over again with the only woman he’s ever loved. This time, he isn’t going to let Molly run. Together they’re going to confront the past and put it behind them, and hope for a future as bright as the flame that still burns hot between them.
This book was a really sweet read. I enjoyed all the depth and feeling put into this book.
Molly and Carter had a long history together. Molly leaves under rough circumstances and only returns to visit. When her mother is injured, Molly decides to stay in Hope to help. Molly has her issues and deals with them the best way she knows-- keep everyone at a distance with just fun..
Carter sees Molly staying as a way of mending fences and a way to try and get her back in his life. He has made his home in Hope and loves it. Two people in love and one doesn't want to admit it. He works on her and tries to tear down those walls. He is determined to make her see reason and to make her see his love for her.
Molly and Carter are in my opinion, a match made in heaven or should I say Hope. I really enjoyed this book for the beginning to the end.

Jaci Burton brings readers a second chance love story with the third book in the Hope series. Hope Burns finds the small town inhabitants of Hope, Oklahoma getting ready for a wedding. Happiness seems contagious except for the bride's sister, who left Hope in her wake many years ago. Molly plans to breeze in and back out of Hope in a whirlwind but Jaci Burton had other plans for her. Readers will love the small town setting, the love of family and friends and a love that has lasted through the years and the miles.
What I liked:
The small town of Hope, Oklahoma has really gotten under my skin. I love good small town setting for a novel and Jaci Burton has really provided that for this series. Hope is a place that might remind you of your own small town roots. In this series we get to know the locals through, the sheriff's department, the local vet, a surrounding ranch, the bakery, the local car mechanic and everybody's favorite hangout, the local bar. Readers will quickly fall in love with this backwater town and it's inhabitants. Burton has created a place many readers would like to call home.
The characters are also a fun group. In Hope Burns readers are treated to Emma and Luke's wedding, the main characters from book one of the series. Not only do the characters from previous books become a part of this story, but a very important part. Molly is Emma's sister. She has been away from Hope for a very long and really doesn't want to return now. I thought Burton did a great job with Molly's reasons for being away. I can see a woman running from her past in this way. Everyone is such an integral part of this town, Molly could never have avoided Carter any other way. I liked the long lost sister theme and I loved the way the town was quick to re-embrace Molly and want her to stay.
Carter was a great hero. Yes, he made a tragic mistake with Molly, right out of high school. But that's been a long time and he has grown up a lot. I wouldn't say that he has changed because he was a good guy back then too, but he has matured and become more experienced and seasoned in life. He knows more of who he is and he's comfortable with himself. His confidence and swagger were appropriate and hard earned. Burton did a wonderful job of showing the man Carter had become as opposed to the boy he had been.
I loved these two together. This is my favorite book of the series so far. There was just something about Carter and Molly that resonated with me. When you are in high school everything is emotional and chaotic. Bad decisions are easy to make and I loved that Burton gave them both a second chance. Second chance romances have become some of my favorites. I wasn't sure in the beginning how Carter was going to convince Molly to stay, but it all worked out for awhile, before the urge to run hits Molly hard. This is an emotional and heartfelt happy-ever-after that will have readers rooting for Carter and Molly, from the first day outside the bakery. An all around great read!
What I didn't like:
I'm not sure I am an advocate for sex without strings relationships. Yeah, that sounds good on paper, makes for some great reading sometimes, but is it realistic? Emotions always get involved and I think maybe there may have been another, better way to get these two together. But I still liked this book soooo much!
Bottom Line:
This is a great second chance romance that will have readers smiling from ear to ear, from the dolphin in the town square, to the skeleton's hanging from the tree's in Carter's yard at Halloween. There was so much home town spirit and comraderie among friends. I loved all of the relationships that were forming from the girl's day outs to hanging at Bash's bar. A really great addition to the series!

This is another winner in the Hope series, an emotional second chance at love tale that will tug at your heart when secrets are revealed.
Molly Burnett is coming back to the town of Hope for the first time in twelve years, her sister Emma is getting married and since she is the maid of honor she swallows the pain and regrets and returns home, she left angry and hurt, but never told anyone why. Throughout the years she has continued to run, never staying in one place, moving every six months. Her family always keeps in touch with her by visiting wherever she is but they let her know how they feel about her wandering ways.
Carter Richards still lives in Hope; he is now the owner of several full service auto shops in the area. He was always a hard worker and when the owner decided to sell the shop he bought it and continued to expand. He and Molly dated in high school, even planning to get married at one time, but when things got tough and the wrong things were said, she left town. They have a lot of unfinished business.
I like anything this Ms Burton writes, her books are usually full of sexy men and women who love and play hard while steaming up any scene when they are together. This series features a small town called Hope and the people who live and love there.
I love Carter; he is sexy and sweet and has spent the last twelve years building a successful business. He knows Molly is coming to town for the wedding and in his mind he has planned how they would met, unfortunately things never work out the way you plan and they meet by accident on the street, and it goes poorly. I really felt for him, all the years he was hurting but he never got the chance to say what he was feeling, he just listened to what Molly had to say before she left, and stayed silent. I like when he finally gets to say the words that have been stuck for so long.
Molly was harder to get to know and like, she kept all the hurt inside, never telling anyone what she went through, even Carter. So instead of getting over what happened she stuffed it down and ran away, and of course continued to run each time she started to feel anything, moving on like it was nothing. I thought she handled things badly with Carter so when she comes back and is rude and never talks to him, I wanted to throttle her. When they do finally talk, she realizes what she has done for all those years and I like how she handles it.
When these two get past the pain and misunderstandings, they fall back into the rhythm of their relationship and we can see the chemistry and how right they are for each other. But Molly gets spooked again and there is some soul searching to get the future right. Since this is a small town and many of the characters are related we get to see several people from past books, it is a nice and familiar feeling as we watch their relationships progress. This is the third in the series and it can easily be read as a standalone as the author brings the reader up to speed seamlessly I am very interested in the next two to be featured, Bash, who is the owner of the bar that many in the town frequent and Chelsea, the school teacher. What can be a better choice?

Oh Jaci Burton. Cowboy, athlete, cop, biker or mechanic. Grumbly or easy going and a bit cheeky. She never fails to make me smile and leave me in just a little bit of a girlie swoon over her heroes and their stories. Hope Burns...whew, yeah, not even gonna lie there was a little mechanic lust happening as high school sweethearts Carter and Molly are forced to deal with each other after 12 years apart and face the fact that no matter the hurts they'd caused each other years ago...they still have a way of undoing the other without even trying.
I'm such a sucker for those second chance romances as yall know and, oh man, these two had a rough bit of history for sure. Something that destroyed their young love and all their plans for the future and sent Molly running hard for more than a decade. Refusing to come home until her baby sister was getting married and she just couldn't say no. It was so working for me even if I wanted this girl to stop running and face that delectable bit of man in front of her.
Carter was....drool worthy. No question. He's made something of himself over the years--built up a nice business, remodeled a home and just become a down deep good to his toes guy who's caring, pretty laid back and can have a wicked hot gleam in his eyes now and again. He's also a Halloween junkie which was entertaining and so dang patient and understanding. And Molly was a pretty good one too though she's a runner. When things get too serious or permanent she picks up, moves and starts over. But she's sweet and loves her family and most of the time is a straight shooter and direct--of course not always with her feelings but with everything else...she's solid.
The two really were great together. Worked nicely as a team on town projects and holiday events and other such things. Could tease and taunt and heat things up real good too once they agreed to try and put the past in the past. It was fun watching them getting to know each other again, spending time with their families and friends and enjoying the holiday season--Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gah that was fun. I would have liked just a tiny bit more at the end but all in all, Hope Burns was another charming romance from Burton and the town of Hope.

Molly Burnett left home twelve years ago after a failed romance with her high school sweetheart, Carter Richards, and never returned. Now she's back for her sister's wedding and isn't looking forward to seeing the man who broke her heart.
I enjoyed returning to small-town Hope and the dynamics of the close-knit friends. At first, my curiosity about the specifics that drove Molly out of town kept me in the story but that took too long to develop. Once revealed, it just didn't square with her staying away from her family that long. Carter was too nice of a guy for a woman who just wanted to run to nothing, especially after they resumed their relationship. Unfortunately, there just wasn't much else going on in the story to balance the weak romance, although they certainly burned the sheets!
The story was entertaining, just not remarkable. I'm looking forward, however, to the next book as those main characters should prove much more interesting.

REVIEW:
With Emma & Luke’s wedding on the horizon Molly has no choice but to return home for her sister’s wedding. You see Molly left Hope 12 years ago and never looked back. Never visited. Never seemed to care about what and who she left behind. But being back will change all that. The only question is will Molly let it change or will she run again?
It was so nice to get back to the lovely little town of Hope, Oklahoma. I am totally in love with Carter. He is just so sweet and thoughtful. Yet, he knows what he wants and is willing to take that leap of faith to get it. Even if that means using a sledgehammer to knock it into Molly’s head. Molly on the other hand is so catch up in the past that she can’t see what an amazing future she could have. I loved both of these characters so much. There is hurt that they both have to get over. But if they can do that they future could be so amazingly bright.
If you have not stepped foot into Hope yet you need to pack your bags and take a trip down here and see what can happen in Hope, Oklahoma.

One Sweet Ride, Play by Play #6, by Jaci Burton
Grade: B
"Can you die from a really great orgasm?"
Evelyn Hill has made her whole life about politics and has set everything, including her love life, to the side. Her new goal is to get Senator Preston a Vice President nomination and win the national race and she will do whatever it takes to get this accomplished even convincing the Senator's estranged son, Gray Preston to help. Gray is not what Evelyn expected at all. Besides being a very successful race car driver, he's sweet, funny and the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on. Evelyn knows what he job and goals are but she can't stay away from Gray or out of his bed.
Gray Preston turned his back on his father and his money when he was eighteen years old and hasn't looked back since. When the stunning Evelyn Hill asks for his help with his father's newest campaign Gray brushes her off but he underestimated Evelyn and how much she loves her job. The more time he spends with her the more Gray realizes he might be mistaken about his father and his view on their relationship. Evelyn proves to not only heal the Preston family but to knock Gray off his feet. Now Gray must find a way to win her heart and keep her forever.
I love the Play by Play book so much and once again Jaci Burton has delivered a great addition to this sports/contemporary romance series. For some reason I hesitated to start One Sweet Ride and it sat on my nightstand for weeks while I read other books. I am now kicking myself for doing this and I wish I had read it sooner rather than later. I struggled a little through the last book and I think thats what had me hesitating but I should know by now that these books are just as great as the sexy covers they always have. Seriously best covers in romance hands down.
We met Gray in Thrown By a Curve and I was eager to see what would happen now that we are branching away from the Riley family and I was not disappointed. Gray can come off like a jerk a little but we soon learn he's a secret romantic and I think he just needed the right woman to love and dote on. Enter Evelyn who I was afraid would let Gray walk all over her and then realized she's a tiger waiting in disguise and that I should be more worried about Gray than her. I loved these two together and they have some pretty funny dialogue about Evelyn and her lack of bad girl teenage fun and screaming orgasms.
I like where the series is headed and I loved how the next two books were set up. We got to meet Carolina and Drew, who are up next, and Trevor and Haven. I can't wait for Haven and Trevor's story, mostly because haven's father is terminally ill and I think this one will be a tear jerker in many ways. I loved seeing all the new characters interact with each other and they never took away from Gray and Evelyn's romance.
Once again a great book by Mrs. Jaci Burton! The Play by Play series is always a must read and the books just keep getting better and better as the series goes on. Sad I have to wait for the next book but I know it will be worth it.

I really enjoyed "Hope Burns" by Jaci Burton. I have been a fan on Ms. Burton for a while now, having read a few of her others series. This book is part of the Hope series- centering on a small town and all the ups and downs that come with that. The story lines and characters in this series are well written and very engaging. I love how each book builds on the previous one and the characters come in and out as the plot dictates.
I would proudly recommend this book, this series and this author to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

Title: One Sweet Ride
Series: Play by Play bk 6
Author: Jaci Burton
Genre: Contemporary
To get what you want you have to move fast.
Gray Preston was born into money, but he's built his racing empire on hard work and muscle. Now, with millions of fans, his senator father sends one of his aides, Evelyn Hill, to elicit Gray's help in garnering votes for his upcoming national election. Gray wants nothing to do with his estranged father's campaign, but Evelyn can be pretty persuasive. She's willing to learn about racing, and maybe even get a little dirty.
Evelyn's number-one goal is politics, which makes working with Gray difficult, because his only passion is fast cars. As she and Gray spend time together, he teaches her about the sport he loves, and she learns a lot about the man behind the wheel. The more she learns, the more she wants him. But any desire that threatens to derail the carefully laid plans for her future is a dangerous one.
With the passion Gray and Evelyn share running hotter than either imagined, one of them is going to have to compromise, or run the risk of losing more than their hearts.
From the moment Grey showed up on the page in Thrown by a Curve I was intrigued by him and his story. And what a story it was.
For the last couple of books I've felt like something was missing, I wasn't sure what just that I hadn't liked them as much as I'd enjoyed other books in the series. As I got into this book I knew what had been missing in the other books. Amazingly hot sex.
The sex in this book is the Jaci I've come to expect and enjoy as it was hot enough to scorch my eye's.
Evelyn is heroine who doesn't let anyone get in the way of her goals, and Grey isn't falling in line with her goals so calls in for reinforcements knowing he won't be able to say no to his mom. Once she gets him on board and she starts to get to know him things begin to change for her and in ways she wasn't sure she was ready for those changes. She also has funny views about her sexuality that Grey delights in changing.
Grey wants nothing to do with his dad's campaign because of issues stemming from his childhood. He's created a life and a career he wants and not what his dad wants. So having a member of his dad's staff in his trailer and in his life is wrecking havoc on him. But more than that she intrigues him. As Grey and Evelyn begin to transverse a relationship Grey has to confront his past with his father, and resolve it so he can have a future with Evelyn.
One of the things I like about Jaci's stories are that they are simple love stories with two people falling in love and trying to figure out they can make their relationship with. There isn't a lot of angst, but there is a lot of scorching hot sex, and two successful people who live different lives falling in love and then needing to figure how to make their relationship work beyond the present.
The simplicity of this story made it page turner for me, and read it straight through.

Molly Burnett has made an art of running away from Hope. For twelve years now she's hopped from city to city, never staying too long in one place. And never going back home. Until now. It is Emma's wedding and she can't miss her sister's bid day. So she will face her dreaded past and see Carter again, even if it kills her. What she didn't expect was to meet him first thing and to find him looking even better than the last time she laid eyes on him. Carter never forgot Molly, or the ugly words they spoke to each other when they broke each other's hearts twelve years ago. But now that she is back and staying for a while, he will do whatever it takes to show her that they belong together and that her place is here with him. In true Jaci Burton fashion, Hope Burns brings friends, family and trouble together to show a sexy, young and surely resistant couple that they belong with each other. With enough heat to burn the house down, Hope Burns brings back Jane, Will, Emma, Luke, Logan and Des, the first couples of the series, as well as Chelsea, Samantha and Bash to keep things fun and interesting.
