What else can one who loves this author expect. This author presents familiar and new characters in further adventures. I for one often wish I was able to inhabit this world and, indeed, I can by immersing fully into her books.

So glad Mercedes Lackey is continuing her stories of Mags, Dallen, and all their friends. Quite inspired to start a new series of Mags the Herald, yet continue what began in the Collegium Chronicles.

I have been reading her novels for years. This is as good as any she's written. Anyone who likes Sword and Sorcery would love this. Her depictions of people are excellent, but her special talent lies in her understanding of animals.
Joust (The Dragon Jousters, Book 1) :: The Fire Rose (Elemental Masters Book 1) :: Home From the Sea (Elemental Masters) :: Closer to the Chest (Valdemar: The Herald Spy) :: With You Always (Orphan Train Book #1)

Excellent story line. The story was complex and had some unexpected turns to it. Really hated to be done reading it. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. It is an excellent addition to all the stories in this series.

Not as sharply written as many of the other Valdemar books, but has some fun twists & turns. Some big and small changes in life in Valdemar. I was almost put off reading it by some of the reviews, but many are off-track in their comments. Worth reading all the way through.

This series long ago became predictable, but it is the usual pleasant mind candy. I do wish the author would not replete herself so often. The intended audience may be the 10-16 crowd, but even they don't need to have everyone beaten to death. Really Ms. Lackey, just move the plot along without the baggage.

Mercedes Lackey has continued the story of Mags the orphan turned spy. I have enjoyed learning more about what's happening in his life. Anyone who loves the Valdemar books will be delighted with this one.

Mags & Amily are shaking up Herald tradition, and its all to the good. I'm waiting for Book Two just to see what Nikolas gets up to next. Any romance in his future? (Jakyr & Lita were a hoot in Bastion) .

Granted, Mercedes Lackey has never been a fantastic writer, but to rip off Shakespeare? Big disappointment. Hardcover is definitely not worth the price... Now the paperback, that's a different story (no pun intended.)

Ms. Lackey continues her Foundation series set at the beginning of Valdemar's Collegium. This book is well written, and gives a good look to the lives of Valdemar's Heralds, Healers, Bards at the beginning of the "modern" timeline of her original series. I truly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
