I love this third installation of the witches of east end. They are easy reads and keep me interested. I like how Norse mythology is interwoven with the witch aspect.
Very good books. Hope there will be another after this one. I've grown attached to the characters. Or I'll try one of her other books!

I love these witches, but the character depth was not there enough for us to understand all these things that were happening. I would have liked to know the background on each of them better, and would have better loved the book.

The story has a decent plot with novel plot twists.

That's about all I can say for it. I'm an avid fantasy reader and I had high hopes for this story, but I'm sorry the say the writing is simplistic and the author has an inconsistent manner when it comes to suspense. The chapters are divided like a tv show. I almost expected a blank screen in between chapters. Too often at the end of the one chapter, a cliffhanger emerge and the next chapter it was resolved in a simple sentence like "just kidding, she didn't really die, just looked like it".

Also, the end of the book seemed too hurried. After a whole plot of dancing around the secret, the author just starts writing the secrets out instead of the character discovering it. It was if the author had a page limit and was coming up against it.

This was a surprising twist to the standard witch tale with fun results. The characters are intriguing and capture your heart. I couldn't wait to proceed to the next novels. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Witches of East End began as a rather enjoyable read that quickly took a few bizarre and unrealistic events. I find that it was very odd, that the witches were "banned" from using any of their magical powers and the author leads the reader to believe that use of "banned" magical powers would bring down dire consequences from an aloof and mysterious Council. Yet, no matter how often these witches use their powers, from mixing a simple love potion to resurrecting the dead, this Council does nothing.

My next critique of this book focuses on the poor transformation of witches into goddesses. Even the most casual study of pagan religions, witchcraft and mythology makes this transformation from witches to gods as unrealistic and difficult for the reader to stomach. Overall, it left me with the feeling that a refund should be in order and absolutely no desire to continue reading this series..

This series just winds around your head and heart and takes you for a fun ride. It is full of surprises that delight and confound you. It's hard to put down and you can't wait to read the next one as soon as you finish.

This book really missed the mark for a conclusion to a series. It was almost like there was a completely different author writing this book. There was a disconnect with the characters and it was basically a bunch of useless information that didn't have anything to do with the storyline. I started to notice it towards the end of the second book. The characters dialogue was written more like 8th graders having a conversation instead of gods who have been around since the beginning of time. Even some characters are written differently as if the author forgot about them in the first book. For example, Kristy, in the first book was a single mother of four kids all under the age of 5 and in this book she just had two kids. It wouldn't seem important other than the fact that Freddie dated her. There was no consistency or connection with this book and the first book. Makes me wonder if someone else wrote it and how it was even approved by an editor. It was a very disappointing conclusion to what could have been a great series.

Melissa de la Cruz is an entertaining writer and this book is no exception. It is the story of a family of witches who try to blend in with normal people and live a quiet life. However, certain events that happen in their town prevent them from doing so and they must use their abilities to solve a murder mystery. The story is steeped with Norse mythology and there is romance blooming as well. It ends in a cliffhanger! Overall, a fun read indeed if you enjoy magic, mythology, and romance.

Exceeded expectations.

I bought it used for under $2.00, plus shipping.
It seems to be new. It sure looks NEW and unused. What more can one expect?

Would i buy from this vendor again. Yup.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. It captured my attention from page one and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. I am impatiently waiting for the next novel about the Beauchamp Family. Excellent read!

This is the third installment of the Beauchamp Family novels and I liked it just as much as I did the other two. There were many twists and turns, and I have gotten to know these characters so well that I was engaged throughout, wondering how the plot line was going to be laid out. I was not disappointed. It was interesting to go back in time to Salem Town during the Salem Witch Trials. I've done a bit of research on this subject and de la Cruz's portrayal seemed spot on...eerie and dark. Sometimes it's nearly impossible to believe that what reads like fiction is true to our history. This was an intriguing fictional spin to this time period.

Looks like there will be a television series based on these books...I can only hope that means there will be more to read in the very near future.

I enjoyed the story. If you are considering the book because of the television series, they are not the same story. There are some of the same characters but the story line is quite different. I bought all the books in this series. The stories are short, can be read in a couple of hours. The second and third books waste a chapter or two retelling the previous books. I have just started the third and final book of this series. I didn't need to read the first two. This could have and should been one book. Just now realized just how expensive this was. I think if I consider any of her other books I'll just go to the library.

I enjoyed this. I like all paranormal type books, and it is hard to find good adult ones. Most are "teen love stories" which I also like. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. It is a story of witches, but if you take out that element, it is still a good, mysterious read. I read all of the Blue Bloods series and enjoyed them all, and this book was just as good! I totally recommend it to anyone that likes this type of book :)

A nice romp in an alternate universe where witches have migrated from another dimension through a crack in the fabric of space/time. Not surprised it hooked into the Valkarie mythoes and very much liked the light and entertaining story with it. Found the books due to its link with the TV show, which I am glad to see is not following it to the letter giving me two stories of witchcraft base to follow.

I am happy to see a positive witch spin on the book, acknowledging those of us that do follow the religion are NOT satanic worshipers. There is no satan in Pagan belief.
