The loveliest story. Beautifully written, lovely characters, beautiful story. It really is like a perfect cup of tea. I could have read it in one sitting but I wanted to make it last. I can't wait to read her other books and plan a trip to Scotland. Scotland sounds like my perfect place.

Just the introduction made me want to sit down and have a chat with the author. Colgan does a nice job moving her characters through their assorted problems and bringing it to a satisfying conclusion. I chose this as a change from the murder and mayhem that I usually read and I'm glad I did.

I would definitely read this book again! Captures the unexplainable joy, comfort and satisfaction of a good old fashioned book. Then you wrap a romance with it and you have gold. Would highly recommend this book to anyone who has an ongoing romance with books!

This is a good, light read. Not completely predictable. Nina loses her job at the library due to funding, and strikes out on her own. Her emotions are well done, she's not an adventurous person, so this is hard. She is out of her comfort zone, and yet it works.

There is nothing better than romping around unknown landscapes with interesting characters on personal journeys. Add the book shop and brooding love lines and you have a delightful tale which is hard to put down. I recommend the audio purchase. The accents are great fun and add depth of character you might miss if reading on your own.

This is a great read. Loved the author's writing. Loving books sets a young woman on a life journey. Loved taking the trip with her. Full of unknowns but loving books was the thread that bound all together. Highly recommend.

This is a delightful book to read. Our main character knows books inside and out. Her love of books leads her into adventures and people in another locale. There, she makes her mark and finds true love.

I adore this book! The plot has such wonderful twists and turns and I found it hard to put down. It takes in Scotland where one woman goes from social nobody to social butterfly who discovers her true calling simply by following her heart. Would recommend this book a thousand times over!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jenny Colgan is a new author for me. This book, set in Scotland, had more than a few reminders of my childhood holidays spent there. Beautiful narrative, with a fun edge to the story. Looking forward to another title.

So different from anything I've read before. The characters and storyline are wonderfully expressive and romantic without being soppy or vapid. I love books as much as Nina! I would recommend this for reading romantics everywhere! :-)

Ms. Colgan makes us care about (and maybe sometimes loathe) her characters. I've been reading romantic fiction for a long time. It's not a criticism of this book, but I wish the genre today was a bit more decorous and innocent.

There seemed to be a disconnect between the beginning and the rest of the story and I lost interest somewhere around a third of he way through the book. I believe a younger person would enjoy this story much more than I did, so I would say give it a try.

I usually read books written by Richard Paul Evans. But i was drawn to the cover. It was a great read. It made you imagine the landscape and read the way they spoke. I ordered this book for a friend also

I enjoyed the characters and the setting very much. It seriously made me want to move to the Scottish countryside. Only reason I gave the book a 4 was that I found the plot to be fairly predictable (though still enjoyable).

Enjoyed it! Makes me want to travel to Scotland. I loved the book references and relating to librarian struggles in today's world. Good summer read. Shades of Pride and Prejudice 21st century. Knew how it was going to turn out, but enjoyed getting there.

Wonderful! It is like stepping into booklover heaven. It would be great if this became an inspiration for areas where it is hard to access a library. I love the computer but books have a different place in my heart.

I loved the intriguing idea of a young woman jumping off the success-treadmill of urban life and running a mobile bookshop out of her van in a remote Scottish village. The portrayal of the rich life of the community and its characters was satisfying. I enjoyed the contrast and humor of Nina's advise-giving urban housemate, and the fun of seeing her jump into country life. I loved the unique subplot of Nina's budding romance with a Latvian train engineer, and their hanging gifts on tree branches for each other. The tension of the slowly developing relationship with Lennox, the handsome farmer, worked well, with a series of passionate & tasteful sex scenes. All in all, a great read!

I enjoyed the spirit of the heroine of the story, especially the way she persevered in the face of adversity. This was definitely a "follow your dreams" type of story, with a different, but happy ending.

I always read my ebooks when exercising for an hour on the recumbent bike at our local Recreational Center. As I read this book, others would notice a smile on my face and an occasional chuckle. Several commented “That sure must be a good book...”. It surely was!

The bookshop on the corner is well written with unpredictable moments, sweetness and sorrow. The story felt real, the characters had depth and didn't just begin with the first page. Enjoyable summer book, and a different idea for the main character. I will be looking for other books by the author.

A love of books, an unexpected adventure, a beautiful, perhaps romanticized description of Scotland, and what happens when our book-fueled romantic fantasies meet reality (of sorts)... what is there not to love in this book?

Delightful, unique and easy to relate too. Loved reading about Scotland, it's inhabitants and traditions. The main character was able to see a need, fill it with gusto and in the process find her true self.

Lousy ending that just stops in its tracks, as if the author simply didn't feel like writing anymore. Further, far too detailed descriptions of nature that go on for paragraphs. It's in a beautiful setting: we get it, ok?

Lovely tale about a librarian whose library was about to close, and she would most likely be out of a job. She loved books, and had collected so many that her roommate threatened to kick her out. She came up with an unusual solution.

Do you know how people have their own things? Their own word, their own outfit, etc. Well I think I have found my own book. That one that you fall in love with and want to read over and over again. I enjoy her writing style, descriptions, character design, plus so much more. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed this book especially the way it ended. A realistic romance, not soppy or improbable. unfolding the fits and starts of a relationship, being self-employed and the joy and satisfaction of pursuing one's passion.

Nina is a librarian in Birmingham, England. She loves her job and she especially loves finding the perfect book for each person. She is a bit shy and has never met her Mr Darcy, but she is comfortably happy with her life. She has her friends and her books and that is enough for her. Until she loses her job. It's time to pursue her secret dream of owning a little bookshop, but she can't afford to rent a storefront. So Nina travels to Scotland to buy a used van for a mobile store. She ends up staying there, renting a barn remodeled into a house, and driving her mobile bookstore in the town of Kirrinfief. She revels in the sense of community in the small town and the people embrace her and her mobile store. She changes her life by stepping out of her comfort zone and finds acceptance and true love in Scotland.

I really enjoyed this book. What reader doesn't enjoy a book about people who love books? I'm sure you will like it, too.

Nina's library is downsizing. She's losing her job as well as her life's work of matching people to books they love. She's young and unmarried, but what can she do now? Filled with hopes and honesty she tries to move forward.

I was totally unprepared to open the pages of this lovely book to find Ms. Colgan had so masterfully captured the very essence and heart beat of those of us the world refer to as book worms.

A thoroughly charming plot with loads of heart and well drawn characters. I would recommend it to any avid reader, or anyone approaching a crossroad in their life. Her glowing descriptions of Scotland make me want to purchase a plane ticket and leave immediately.

A delight to read! So cosy, and the descriptions are lovely and you kinda visualize everything. This is an easy read, it's a book about a book-worm who wants to save books with a twist. I loved it! If you like "The readers of broken wheel recommend" , you will like this one too

I loved that even though the heroine found herself without a job and being kicked out of her home, she was able to discover a lot about herself, follow her dreams and find herself in a much better place. It was a delightful book with interesting characters.

LOVED this book! Downloaded it and was so pleased that it was such a lovely story. The descriptions of the little town and the people there were like being there myself. It had several messages and some excellent vision into Scottish life. I am ordering another of her books today and hope they will all be as enjoyable. I love Maeve Binchy, Marcia Willett and Dorthea Benton Frank.

I love this book. Usually, when I finish a book, I pass it on to one of my friends. I can't let this one go! Really enjoy stories about women who need to take charge of their lives, make a change and make a success out of it. Plus the Scottish setting is somewhere I enjoy learning about.
