These are wonderful books. Maisie and her friends are characters I would love to have as friends! The characters are well developed and the backdrop of the changing times in England and society’s changes during WWI and WWII is fascinating!

I have always enjoyed Winspear's books. Although there are no surprises, it is still a well written book with a well developed plot. The historical details are always a joy. You feel as if you are in the time period with descriptions of places and people.

Better than the last but still I yearn for Detective/Psychologist Maisie Dobbs to hang up her shingle once again. I need to hear how about Billy and Sandra, I need to hear more of her relationship with her in laws who supported and aided her during her transition as their maid to a person of consequence in a time where this almost never happened! Yes it's all about me! I'm paying??

I've enjoyed Jacqueline Winspear's books since I started reading them several years ago. Am glad this was set outside of London where Masie was in danger and used her wits to get herself out without betraying why she was there. I hope there will be many more books like this one.

This is the author who first got me interested in the history of World War I and the incredible burdens and losses imposed upon the soldiers, their families, and their villages. This book is a very good addition to the series. The main character is wonderful.

Wasn't expecting the twists. I think the stories get better and better. When I finish a new book, even one I enjoy, I can't help but think that there's nothing like the Maisie Dobbs series. I was concerned about the time period because I'm not wanting to read anymore about the horrors of the Nazi's but I felt Ms. Winspear handled this very well.

Another interesting view into the third Reich in 1938… Maisie goes in disguise to Munich and becomes enmeshed with various characters English, American, and German -it seems as if there's always new information and twists to that time period

I have read all the Maisie Dobbs books. This one is a good development for the character. It was good to see her progress in her life and into the next phase. Without giving things away, the story was uplifting in some ways and sad in others. I'm interested to see what she does going forward. If you like her books or even reading as a stand alone it was a good story.

Another winner from Winspear! Set chiefly in Berlin just before WWII, our heroine, Maisie, has grown into an assured, if still grieving, young woman. At the end of a most satisfying story, she is ready to start her detective career anew, with all of our favorite supporting characters. I can't wait until the next volume!

I had quit reading this series out of frustration with the story lines. For some reason, I wandered back and read this one and liked it a lot. In my opinion, it was much better than some of the books in the series. I will start reading the series again.

I actively look forward to each next book in this series. I have become a fan of Maisie and read these less for plot and more for the evolving character development. This has the additional bonus of a glimpse into Germany and the rise of Hitler- with an evocative scene of 2 young girls playing in secret- one is Jewish and the other not-so that their parents will not know of this forbidden friendship.

I enjoyed this story very much. It is really exciting, very hard to put down. Maisie is sent on a mission that could easily end in disaster, in those years when people stil didn't know what kind of monsters nazis were.

Good historical fiction and well-written. However, I thought the end of the novel was anti-climactic, after Mazie had found and rescued the man she had been sent after, and as a bonus did the same for the daughter of a man she disliked, a young woman who should have been piloting the aircraft Mazie's husband was piloting when he crashed and died.

Maisie Dobbs Novels are an enormous history lesson which doesn't seem like one as some of the observations are so current. Jacqueline Winspear is an inspired ,thorough, painstaking writer with great respect for the times , the styles, the atmosphere of which she writes.

History lovers will eat this up. What was going on in Germany? Shows more of their side, how frustrating and fearful it must have been! Some of the political mixups, how some idealists might have at first sympathised, how hard it was for people to know what was going on, what was the truth.

In my opinion, the Maisie Dobbs series is wonderful!! I've loved every book included in the series. I've also read a couple others by Jacqueline Winspear. It's really historical fiction as well as mystery ---- great research involved. I look forward to Jacqueline Winspear's next release. :)

The next installment of Maine Dobbs brings the story one step closer to World War 2. Maise is to help smuggle an important businessman out of Munich. As usual, there are twists and turns. A great story that also gives a clear picture of the culture of the time. A great read!!

Being a child during the second World War, and living with German grandparents (nationalized U.S. Citizens) who immigrated in 1927, I have always been curious and a reader of anything taking place during that time. I liked Journey to Munich, although I would have preferred "Maisie" to use better judgement than she did in the storyline.

A thoughtful novel that provoked me into wanting to read e very word ,hope it would just go on and on while I could imagine where the author was taking me. A nicely constructed read that could have become trite, but was not allowed to as it provided an intellectual sensitivity. Thanks to the author.

Maisie is with us once more at full strength. Winspear's writing is clear and crisp. The fictional story in interwoven with historical facts, resulting in a gripping read. Start with Maisie Dobbs (the first book) and keep reading.

Immensely enjoyed reading this departure from Maisie Dobbs' usual endeavors. And have to say, I get sick to my stomach thinking or learning anything about Nazi Germany. Beyond the Munich Journey, Maisie's personal Story in this novel was a bit of a salve to the sadness previously.

I really like this series. Maisie lives in a fascinating time, and the characters and historical context are well done. Also a lesson about the impacts on war on soldiers, as well as their families and loved ones.

Starts off a little slow, but once you get through the first 50 pages, the pages practically turn themselves. Easy to read with lots of white space. Although it takes place primarily in Nazi Germany, the focus is on telling an engaging story rather than commenting on history.

I love the Maisie Dobbs mysteries and this one does not dissapoint. Its a gripping story of getting a man out of Germany at the time Hitler was getting ready to go into Austria. It was a great read and Im looking forward to the next one. I really like this Maisie Dobbs !!!!

The story held my interest throughout and had just enough back story to help me understand the background without weighing me down with tedious details. Maisie seemed a believable character with believable emotions.

I have throughly enjoyed the Maisie series.... I even liked the previous book where Maisie is struggling. In this book we see that Maisie has grown and deepened as a woman. She tackles her circumstances in a strong, thoughtful way. She thinks about others, learns to forgive, and is back to work.

I love the Maisie Dobbs novels, and enjoyed this one very much. However, as a bilingual German/English speaker, I was astounded at the ridiculousness of some of the German in the book. I'll actually be reaching out to J. Winspear to offer assistance with this.

Jacqueline Winspear writes beautiful stories of her character Maisie Dobbs. The novels give us such a great look into the life and struggles of a woman post World War I. The journey is also about Maisie's return to a profession that she has loved and has been very good at as well as her return to the people she loved, professionally and personally.

World events conspire to daily remind us of the importance of freedom, family and need for personal actions and wisdom. I await every Maisie Dobbs novel knowing I will visit with 'family' again and be reminded of life's important lessons. Now, I must wait for the next visit

Jacqueline Winspear is one of my very favorite authors! Every book is different but her excellent writing skills and the ability to make one feel as if they are there in the story, never disappoints!! At the end of the book she leads us to believe that the subsequent books will be a return to the true calling of Maisie Dobbs... I couldn't be happier for that prospect!

I always enjoy Massie Dobbs novels, I have them all. Characters are so well developed I find myself thinking about them as real persons. And the history intertwined within the stories is a wonderful bonus. Hope to read more soon.

Maisie goes to Munich before WW2 to rescue a person valuable to the British. Her adventures include bringing home a wayward daughter of a man she dislikes. It's a gallop of a tale that one cannot stop reading.

Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs" novels are always a pleasure to read. Maisie is not a static character. She grows--she changes. The reader knows her well, but never knows what to expect. I found Journey to Munich grittier than most of the novels, also events were complex. This novel was even better than some of the previous ones.

As a fan of Maisie Dobbs from the very beginning, I found this latest installment disappointing. There was no great plot twist, there was no derring-do. I kept waiting for some great act of bravery, as Maisie has displayed in the past. There was a bare minimum of suspense, and certainly no compelling reason to read after a certain point, as Miss Dobbs didn't actually do anything. A rare mis-step in an otherwise great series.

Not as good as previous books. Dark mood dismal surroundings, unhappy protagonist. There is nothing more depressing than pre WWII Germany the motive for Maisie to be there is improbable and so the story doesn't flow. Hope next one lightens up

Maisie Dobbs, the intuitive psychologist and investigator, is always inspiring. Her adventures are my "literary candy." I'm always a bit heartbroken when I finish reading one because that means I have to wait for the next one to be published.

I love the Maisie Dobbs novels by Jacqueline Winspear, and this was another winner in the series. Once again, I was intrigued with Maisie's adventures - this time in Munich! I'm looking forward to when next year's book comes out!

The Journey to Munich is an enjoyable read. This was the first of Jacquelin Winspear novel that I read and I definitely felt I had missed on some insights. The author made many efforts to explain events from earlier works but it seemed a contrived to make this novel clear. Still one can enjoy the historical nature of the novel.

Well things are looking up - enjoyed "Journey to Munich" far more than Winspear's last book. The intrique, excitement, and suspense were all present. One thing is for certain - once a Maisie Dobbs fan, always a Maise Dobbs fan!
