Hale has a great style of keeping you entertained and giving you a satisfying ending. I think the mark of a really poor writer is one that has to leave a cliff hanger to make you feel obligated to buy the next. I only buy Hale books because I *love* her stories! Each book can stand on its own, and each is so well written it leaves me wanting more!

Forest Born continues the saga of Hayden with a new heroine. Rinna adds her gifts to those of previous characters to save the kingdom from past enemies. The story is well told and packed with action from beginning to end. A perfect addition to the Books of Bayern.

The Goose Girl was an amazing book Enna Burning and River Secrets were just okay. So I wasn't expecting much when I picked this book up.

I loved it! It's jut as good as The Goose Girl. The characters are real and fleshed out, the plot is exciting with plenty of twists, and Shannon Hale has got back her magic!

I would suggest reading the other three books before picking up this one because otherwise some parts will not make much sense.
The Storybook of Legends :: The Princess in Black and the Hungry Bunny Horde :: Forest Born (Books of Bayern) :: Ever After High: The Unfairest of Them All :: Midnight in Austenland

I love how Shannon Hale is showing the good against the bad! A genius idea to end the series.
Rinna's struggle against inner darkness was believable and a theme that captured my attention instantly and had my brain thinking. In a plot of desperation, lies, and an intense climax, this book is beauty in its own.
I wish it wasn't ending!

Wow I was so impressed by the way this book played out and how she handeled the main character and what she has to go through and deal with. Great Job SHannon!

I think that this is an excellent conclusion to the Bayern books by Shannon Hale. What amazes and delights me is how Hale can use four different main characters and how absolutely different yet instantly relatable they are. Enter Rinna, Razo's sister who could speak with trees but after a grave mistake leaves for the city, yet longs for the life she left behind. She meets up with the fire-sisters and journeys with them on an incredible adventure. This is a tale of friendship, humor, family, love, finding who you really are, and power. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and love this awesome world Hale has created.

This book reminds me of myself. Rin feels neglected by the trees, I feel neglected in the world. Rin finds herself, I found my place. This book went deep and touched my soul. Rin helped me to find my passion for writing, even though I'm only 11. Now I wish to jump inside this book and tell her thank you. Rin's story is my favorite, and I know you'll love it.

Forest Born is both character and plot driven as it follows the story of a young girl who leaves home to search for inner peace. Far from finding peace, she finds herself in the middle of immense political turmoil. From the outer conflict, she is forced to serious introspection which leads her to new strength and resolve.

Easy, enjoyable read and it's great to see the Bayern characters brought back to life.
