Even better than the first book! I read it all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! An immensely likable and enjoyable read. I hope that the author continues to put out books like this for a long time.

Usually I find the second book in most series to be a link story. Carrying not much momentum. But this one is awesome. Can't wait for Kat to meet the second prince. Now, I know for sure that the third book won't be disappointing. God bless these upcoming authors for giving us great stories at this price.

When I stumbled upon Haven it was an instant favorite and I was thrilled that Dragoon was finally released! The story has everything a lover of fiction and fantasy could want. I laughed and cheered and cried and most importantly I loved it! I literally read all day and now I can't wait for the third book!

It was so cool to see Katelyn's sassy side this time around. The smart remarks between her and the other characters brought much needed humor when the story got more serious and the danger more real for them. I also loved Rune's character development in this book. I will be eagerly awaiting the third book in this series from a great author.

It's the little things that make a book great. Characters with an individual voices. Fallible and sympathetic heroes and villains. Scary unknowns. Creative new twists and believable world building. Ivanovich delivers! I can't wait for the next installment.

It seems like every book I read lately has the same plot or is very predictable. This book couldn't be more opposite. I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns this book threw at me. I will recommend this book to everyone in my book club! Can't wait for the next one from this Author.

Having read both books in this series by the author, it seems to be written in more summary fashion than in an attempt to fully flush out and develop the characters or the story. Though interesting, I find it a challenge to become emotionally or intellectualy invested.

I waited forever for this book to come out and I wasn't disappointed! I love that so many characters were back and felt familiar immediately. I read it in 2 days and couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the final book!

What's not to love a beautiful novel. Perfect.
I devoured this book in two days. The characters are strong and I adore Rune and his relationship with Katelyn is so bittersweet. I can't wait for the next installment.

This book is very vanilla. It has some interesting characters, but it is a stretch of the imagination to see them in some of the action that is depicted. I thought it was like a fairy tale for young adults. Unfortunately, I am an old adult.

0nce you begin reading DRAGOON , your appetite for more becomes insatiable. THANK YOU , A.R. Ivanovich we all need to realize that we must insure our actions are made for humanity's sake and not just our own.

HAVEN was better, but that's normal for sequels. I liked the ending; it leaves it open for a third book. Hopefully, it can all be resolved nicely in the end without killing anymore main or secondary characters, but I'm like that I hate it when authors kill someone off. I understand it and it makes perfect sense but I don't like it.

So obviously I picked up the second installment right after the first! Gah and still it rocked my socks! I loved and devoured it right away. I do have to point out some inconsistencies that confused me a tad. The book I read is called Paper Glass I’ve also seen it titled Dragoon. That is all and well but when I read the synopsis of both books though they were the same I was more confused. If anyone can help me understand please, please, help! The blurb reads that Kat was attacked by a classmate and this exposed her powers (that is not how it happened). There was an attack on Haven and several people were hurt. Kat used her powers of the Pull to locate and help people. Her classmate identified her powers but the person behind the attack was not her classmate. The Blurb also says that Haven prisoners are sent to the Prince of Shadows but that is also not what happened. Haven citizens have been missing and Kat is tasked with finding them. I’m not really going to dwell on those inconsistencies because the author crushes it again and delivers an epic read! I would like to know why the blurb reads the way it does though.(OKAY Y’all I’m a dumb dumb) I found a blurb that matches the book I read and its at the top. Maybe those other blurb’s I read were for previously published different editions? Who knows but yay mystery solved!

The Story, well, well, well, if it isn’t the Haven Defense calling the lodestone Katelyn Kestrel. Talk about a juicy conspiracy unlike anything Kat expected. I will try to keep this review spoiler free but cut me some slack folks I have to talk about the books right? Kat is approached to help find what has happened to a team of explorers, this is the last thing she wants to do but knowing there really isn’t any choice she decides to go at it alone and not risk any more lives. Back to the war torn lands Kat discovers she isn’t alone but with nothing to be done about it Kat travels to find this Prince of Shadows and save those from Haven. We are reunited with RUNE Lol though that doesn’t happen until later. Dylan is also back and he blames Kat for his current predicament although he harbors negative towards her he will help keep her safe and retrieve her people.

The Characters, we know Kat well we get to know more about the people in her town. Her friends follow her to the outside world and they will play key parts in the achievement of her mission. I enjoyed all of the characters once again. We get to meet more dragoons and even a Margrave. Kat continues to shine she is very powerful and her gifts continue to prove as very valuable assets indeed! The prince of shadows is particularly nasty and we get a glimpse of what its like to be a soldier of the north. Kat has a wonderful way of fitting right into whatever role is demanded of her and she will not rest until she can rescue those from Haven and bring them home safely to once and for all be rid of the outside world and their 700 year old war.

The End, everything leads up to an exhilarating show down. The most epic bad gal gets just what she deserves. This installment has some very sad moments but come heck or high water Kat will see justice is served. Rune I’m happy to report is just as dreamy and honor bound as before. He too will risk everything in order to do the right thing. Dylan is well Dylan, sour and broken I hope he finds his way…I know there is more to this character I hope we get the chance to truly see him shine. Kat is brought face to silhouette with the prince of shadows and this leaves her stunned. The end of this installment was full of betrayal and bravery I cannot wait to see what happens next. There is so much I want to say about this book but in the spirit of keeping things spoiler free I will not.

My Rating
5.0 Because what? Gooooooodness. This is just too good seriously stop thinking about it and just do it! Read this series! You will NOT Regret it!!

After the events of Haven, Katelyn is looking for a stress-free life. Even though she feels a bit disconnected and pines for Rune, she realizes that things were for the best and is ready to move forward. Now, a year later, she is pushed back into that hell, when she is sent on a mission to retrieve a government operative who is trapped in the outside world. This series, I have gathered so far, is a lot of adventure and so this time we have a sea-faring quest, with a literal flying (okay, hovering) ship. Unfortunately, she also has tag-along which she didn't want, but is now responsible for. This chapter in the saga takes them to the front-lines of the war, a place where a Margrave exists and so does the Shadow Prince, making it very dangerous for her if someone were to discover her real identity. Masquerading as a Historian, she sees with her own eyes how the Dragoons are trained and conditioned, and sees the real brutality up close

Our main character, Katelyn, is a strong smart girl - someone who is intent on doing the right thing. So when she thinks her estranged mother is trapped in the hellish outside, she sets out alone to retrieve her. When she goes undercover and mingles with the Margrave, she tries to find some shred of humanity in her. When she sees Rune trapped along with his fellow rebels, she goes to rescue him even though she would be in greater danger if caught. For all her powers, she is still vulnerable to the Commands. And discovering the truth about her home and the people there, and that of her mother, would have discouraged any person, but she endeavors to save her home and the tormented people in the outside world. This book also gives us more about Haven, and getting that explanation was good, because it was getting a little incredulous at first. About Rune, I am still not convinced about how his character is built; there are inconsistencies and their romance is anything but organic. Overall I would say, read for the story, adventure and the thrills - that's where it excels.

Paperglass in the second book in the War of Princes Installment by A.R. Ivanovich. This book is actually a newer, updated edition of her previously self-published novel Dragoon. The story starts where Haven left off, with Katelyn Kestrel, the main character, being safe and sound back in Haven. After dealing with the horrors of the outside world, Katelyn never wants to venture to the outside world again. However, a team of explorers sent to explore the outside never made it back to Haven and they were unfortunately captured by the evil Prince Raserion, the leader of the Western Kingdom. Because Katelyn has the ability to find anything she is looking for, she is chosen to go search for the team by Haven’s leaders, who apparently do know some information about the outside world and how to get there. So, Katelyn finds herself having to face her fears and once again venture into the outside world, where she hopefully will find the lost team, and reconnect with Rune, who was her love interest in the previous book.
All in all, I really did enjoy this novel. Just like the last one, it was intriguing, exciting, and gripping. This novel also thankfully gave more information about Haven’s history and answered some questions that needed to be answered. I do have to say though, I did think that the previous novel, Haven, was a bit better than Paperglass, but that being said, it was still an excellent follow up. I was lucky enough to be able to get all four books in this series and I truly cannot wait to read the other two books in the series and see what happens to Katelyn, Rune, and all of her friends.

Paperglass is the second installment of The War of Princes series by Ivanovich. Yeah, I reviewed the first one last week, but I am binge-reading this s***, so you're going to hear all about it. These books are incredible. You know how sometimes you read the first book in the series and then the next one isn't quite as good and it just gets worse from there? These are so not those books. They actually get better as you go, like The Hunger Games (books, not films-the reverse is true with the films) or the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield. Paperglass is even faster-paced than Haven, and the danger was more palpable since I already knew the dangers of the Outside world. Can I just say my heart pounded nearly the entire time I was reading because I was well aware the whole time of the tightrope Katelyn was walking? How often do you get that from a book?! Only when it is done extremely well, and Ivanovich has the stuff.

I didn't even take a break between Haven and Paperglass. I couldn't wait to return to the fascinating world A.R. Ivanovich created in the War of the Princes... (FYI... Dragoon, Book #2, has been renamed Paperglass for the digital release.)

At the outset of this Paperglass, we discover a few notable things... 1. Haven has been receiving regular "deliveries" from the outside world. 2. Since those have stopped, a group from Haven has been sent "outside" in order to gather information.

When that mission goes awry, Katelyn is tasked with returning to Lastland in order to recover the missing using her unique gift of the Pull. Ever true to her nature, she does it on her own terms. I won't spoil what happens to Katelyn and those who were determined/tasked to join her, but I will say that this rapidly paced story left me ready to start Monarch (Book #3) immediately. If I'm honest, I already started it! ;-)

I really can't get enough...

I can't remember the last time I sat down to write a book review the same day I finished the book. I'm so eager to talk about this one though. That being said, I won't say most of what I want to talk about most because I want to keep this spoiler free as much as possible. It's always challenging to talk about later books in any series because I don't know if I should write as if the reader (of the review) has read the first book or not. I tend to go with the more cautious approach of not spoiling the first book, despite some spoilers already being in the synopsis, so this review may be briefer. It doesn't mean I enjoyed the book any less.

In fact, I'm more or less in love with this book. It's one of the sequels that made me fall in love with the series even more. I would consider it one of the best fiction books I've read recently, and it feels like the first time in a long time that I've enjoyed a fantasy series this much, which I'm very happy about because I've been craving a good fantasy series for a while now.

This is one of those series that has managed to surprise me quite a bit so far. I have this idea of what I want to happen, but I don't have a clear idea of how the story will get there. It's one of those stories where I can't tell where things are going, and I also feel like it's been a while since I've found something like that. I enjoy only being able to guess and not feeling like I have any great guesses at that.

That's all I'll say in my attempt to not include any spoilers, but I think I'm going to have to get my spoiler-filled thoughts out somehow in the future. I'm also happy to say that I already have the next book because I want to start reading it as soon as possible. I'm excited to see what happens next.

I received this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning felt a bit choppy. The heroine is in trouble for using her powers. The incident is mentioned in retrospect and we do not actually get to experience it in the narrative. Also, from being home a year to being back in the Outside seemed to take place at whirlwind speed. I have mixed feelings on that one. Dragging out the time in Haven when all the action is waiting to take place Outside seems pointless but, as I noted, somehow it ended up feeling glossed over.

Having said that, the story's strengths still outweigh its weaknesses. The author still manages to instill an atmosphere of fear, desperation, and urgency as they battle monsters, let evil deeds pass by for a greater good, and race to rescue those in danger. As charming as I find steampunk, I always find it a little bit illogical to have technologically advanced concepts delivered side by side with steam and other archaic methods. The main thread of the story was engrossing enough that I was willing to let the horse riding and flying ships exist without staring too hard at it. For those who do not care for the romantic element or prefer only a dash of it, this will work for you. While the hero and heroine are romantically involved, they are limited to a few kisses and, realistically, they are preoccupied with survival for the most part.

Looking forward to the third in the series which I assume will be the last.

Ivanovich knows how to tell an adventure story. I wish I could find more writers at this level of story telling. Its a good against evil story without being preachy. The characters are well written and the character values of the young people in the story are paramount to the story. I think you would still have to read the first book "Haven" to fully understand the relationship between Rune and Kat. That being said, I would recommend these fascinating and well written stories to anyone who really likes a good adventure with a lot of action and a story that upholds good virtues. I have read the first book twice, will probably read it again and I will probably ready this second book again. A good story is a good story. I am not a great writer so this is kind of a choppy review but I didn't spoil the story for anyone. You can't beat the price for stories this good. I can't wait for the next book to come out. The good thing about this author is that she does not just poop out books. She makes sure the stories are good before we get them. I like that.

Once again, an excellent book! The writing, plot twists, character development, and world-building are superb.

I especially like how Haven, the supposed utopia is shown to be slightly imperfect. I'm also impressed that most of the returning characters keep developing and changing as necessary. I thought the first book was great. I didn't know it could get even better! (Just to reiterate: the plot twists are awesome!)

I definitely recommend this entire series!

Going straight into this book from the first one I was already captivated by the story. The author did a great job picking up the story right where the first book ended. And the characters just get better! Needless to say I am hooked without a doubt and flew through this book and can't wait to start the next book. So that's what I'm going to do right now! On to the third book I go!

With all capital letters, I will tell you how much you need to read this book. Didn't like the first one so much you scrambled over yourself to get the next one, then I will tell you this: While I think Haven will always top the cake, Dragoon gets MUCH more interesting with a blend of new characters and plot twists. And, of course, slight humor.
Now, how much you need to read it-
I COMMAND YOU WITH MY ABILITY TO CONTROL MINDS TO BORROW IT, READ IT, BUY IT, WHATEVER AND JUST READ. IT. YOU ARE ALSO FRIGHTENED BY MY FEIRCE STALKERISH MOTIVES ON HOUNDING ALL OF YOU SILENTLY WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT AS YOU THINK OF THIS REVIEW.

Now, this we got all the creepiness out of the way, I will tell you the pros and the cons.

Pros- It was fast paced, a lot of plot twists, humor, action, character development, and of course romance. (I mean, what kind of book doesn't, right?

Cons-*Long, excruciating sigh* WHY DID ##### have to die????? HMMMM????? Or ######??? It's just so heartbreaking...

In all, cons are that it's so sad and heartbreaking with some of the plot twists and everything that happens.

Truly sad.

All in all, I give it 5 stars. Why am I this hysterical and hyper, you ask? The same reason I curse all of the evil, sick, twisted villains I have in my book and hop up and down in my seat when a good song comes on pandora.
It's probably 3 in the morning.

I am writing this review after finishing the series because it was so good! I don't normally write reviews but I felt readers should know about this series. You do need to read the books in order. This series revolves around an amazing fantasy world, believable characters, and a plot line with twists and turns that were unpredictable. I love being surprised, but it doesn't happen that often. I highly recommend this series for adults and YA who love fantasy and books they can't put down. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

I fell in love with Haven a year ago because the characters were raw and as real as having a best friend tell you how their day went. The sequel Dragoon delved deeper into the mysteries of the two worlds that inevitably collide. The characters are now molded into thought provoking individuals. Rune's depth is awe inspiring and to read his development has been a rewarding adventure! I love the story and the concepts behind the struggles with humanity, power, truth, and freedom. Ivanovich has a remarkable imagination and an obvious understanding of the struggle of survival and the need for love to overcome evil. I love it!

Dragoon is a good sequel to Haven. I was a bit disappointed at the end of Dragoon because I had the understanding that this was the second book of a two-parter. Dragoon ends rather abruptly with very little resolved. However, with the assumption that there is another book coming (I hope) I will say that its a good middle book and I hope the final (?) book is as good as Haven and Dragoon. Dragoon contains a lot of action and is quite well written.

I originally bought the first book, 'Haven', seeing it recommended from the store and was completely floored by how amazing and original it was when I read it. As soon as I saw the second book was out, I knew that I had to get it, and I wasn't disappointed. 'Dragoon' has a faster pace than the first book and keeps true to the story without resorting to romantic love triangles or rehashed material to continue the saga. I absolutely loved both books, and can't wait to get the next one.

I can't call myself an avid reader, but this book quickly showed me that there can be great difficulty in putting down and walking away from a solid plot and believable characters. I'm terrible at writing and writing reviews as I don't don't it often enough, but I will be purchasing the next part of this story shortly and any others that may follow. You won't be disappointed with this first from A.R. Ivanovich!

At faster pace than "Haven," the second story of Kat Kestral's harrowing adventures in the Outer World raises the stakes (oh, don't use that word!) at a breathless clip. It's a year later, Kat is graduated and trying not to moon over Rune, when a reason (excuse?) to go back to the other place falls into her lap. We get to see some familiar faces from the first book, and have the fascinating addition of Hargrave Hest as a surprising foil for Kat. A great climactic sequence leads into the tease for the next book, which I WILL TOTALLY DEVOUR as I did this one. These are great plots and a very intriguing world.

So why only three stars? Well, the writing is just still too uneven for me. The romance is not quite thrilling enough, the tensions between characters are sometimes forced or formulaic, and worst of all, Kat just doesn't make sense sometimes. And not in the frustrating tenager way (which I Think is the intention), but in a baffling, why is she inspired and deflated in the same moment--oh wait, how much time has passed?--ugh, nevermind just ride your butt into the palace and get on to the next action piece. It made me feel that some elements were simply too YA in an on-purpose sort of way, rather than as a natural result of using a certain level of vocab and certain age of protagonist.

Still, I am looking forward to finding out what is next in store for the Havenites!

This was a great book, very much like the first one. The intense action and unforeseen twist in every chapter make this book very engaging. It has a nice entanglement of medieval scenery, supernatural powers, modern technology, and heartfelt drama that people of all ages can enjoy. I highly recommend this book and the first (Haven) to anyone who is up for an exciting adventure.

I had been waiting for this forever!!!!! I'm so tired right now ( it is now 7:09 am and I started reading this at about 2 or three in the morning). I loved Rune so much in this one. He had more feeling to his character than he had in Haven and there were moments when I felt like crying. There were also moments where I cursed my inability to reach into a book and smack someone silly, but all in all I loved it! Can't wait for the next book!
