This book is somewhat different than the others in the series. I love the series but this has to be the authors best work. This one is much more intense. I almost felt like I was reading a criminal minds episode. It's just so amazing the way history repeats itself but now it is done in a more sophisticated way. We want to believe that the horrible things that happen now didn't happen long ago. Sadly untrue. I absolutely could not put this book down until the end.

The Gaslight series are among my favourite books, and this one does not disappoint. SPOILER ALERT - Malloy is unceremoniously dumped from the Police force after knowledge of his new wealth is leaked. However, before the "firing", he and Sarah had already become involved in a new mystery, and they determine that they will continue to investigate this. Maeve is able to help and is given a bigger role in this book than in previous ones. Good triumphs over evil, as always, and there is a surprising development in Sarah's relationship with Malloy's mother.
Only problem with the Gaslight series is that we are limited to one a year!

I have read all of the Gaslight Mysteries ans have enjoyed the building of the characters. This one is the first after Frank has inherited money which changes everything for him and Sarah. While glad for the romance to move on into marriage, I was concerned it would not have the same interesting plotlines and settings as the previous ones. However, this book maintained the enjoyment as the others. I look forward to the next and the next books.

Victorian Thompson keeps her gaslight series stories fresh and wonderful, and keeps me waiting for the next. Not really an historical fan, I became hooked on this series years ago, after an accident and only had books to keep me from going crazy. The characters jump off the page and gives us quite in insight how Irish police came about. You cannot help but fall in love with this Irish cop,the
heroine, her daughter, nanny and her nosy, warm and caring next door neighbor,

I have never been disappointed in any of Victoria Thompson's Gaslight series stories and look forward to the next and the next and the next. I am impressed on how she has developed the relationships through the evolution of each book and that they gently tie the first to the latest. It is like watching a family grow. I also am impressed with the exposure to the life and times of that period which is close to when my grandparents immigrated here. It was a challenging time with many class distinctions and "castes". It is a reminder that as a society we have been moving forward in acceptance and tolerance. It also points out the necessity of having some common goals to unite people and give them goals to reach for and attain. We seem to be lacking that in our current times with more emphasis on the differences that exist instead of the much more plentiful similarities that we all share.

I enjoyed this book very much. I really liked the period of time and the characters. I look forward to more books in the Gaslight series. Mystery lovers should really enjoy reading Victoria Thompson's books. She writes a very good story with little quirky pieces and always good endings. Keep on writing, Victoria Morgan.

I order Victoria Thompson books for my mom. She loves her style or writing and has a problem putting them down. That being said, Murder in Murray Hill did not disappoint her. She would highly recommend to anyone that loves an old fashioned mystery. My mom can't wait for the next one to come out. Mom is 85 years young and hopes many will enjoy this book as much as she did.

I love the headlights series! I wondered how mrs Malloy would react to Sarah & Frank's engagement and the way the author set it up was very good. Mrs Ellsworth finding them a house in Sarah's own neighborhood was a nice touch too. The crime was realistic too, unfortunately, but I like how all was resolved. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Frank and Sarah are getting ready to change their status in many ways, and the prospective is daunting for both. Some mysterious disappearances and their subsequent solution provide a deep insight on the society of the time, and yet another test for the resilience of the couple. One of the best books of the series.

Victoria Thompson is one of my very favorite authors. Her stories flow so seamlessly. The characters all make you a part of what's going on and you don're want the book to end. Frank Malloy and Sarah Brandt are part of my family.it's a good mystery with an emphasis on characterization. I'm looking forward to the next book already.

this series is so great Victoria Thompson cant write enough for me. The characters flow, the details about the location, the period in time etc slip in "knowledge" scattered among a truly great read, my only criticism is a little loss of sleep and not doing my chores on time, cant put it down til I know "who dunnit"

Ms. Thompson continues to provide we mystery readers with excellent fare. She picks up where she left off with Malloy and Sarah, now planning their wedding. Of course they are interrupted with a murder. The story takes you on an interesting path which once again reveals some of the history of the period. Another worthy read from this author.

Just enough mystery, action and interactions among the characters. I loved it. Explained everything and didn't leave you hanging. Looking forward to reading about them again when they go on the next adventure!

Continued excellence in two areas:

- the Journey towards their marriage

- the new role as private investigator, with new professional and personal relationships.

Always a well thought out conclusion.

Another one of Victoria Thompson's great gaslight mysteries! I never want these stories to end. Especially now that Mrs. Brant can actually join Malloy in his murder mysteries. Can't wait for the wedding!! Eagerly awaiting Victoria's next installment of her murder mysteries.
