The first of the story, had me greatly confused towards the end with a switch in perspective, but at the end with the explanation, well done. I have to say it is still one of the reasons Sir Doctor Arthur Conan Doyle will be remembered for a long time. Live in infamy Watson.

I have never before read a Sherlock Holmes novel but this was marvelous introduction. The characters are well thought out, the plot leaves no obvious holes, and the entirety of the motive is nicely covered.

I LOVED the introduction of Holmes to Watson as flat mates. Very interesting to hear Watson's initial take on Holmes personality, etc. Great imagery of London.....the part 2 section was unexpected (and a bit long) but the story returned home in the end.

I really enjoyed this book! It was an engaging read and I never felt it lagged. It had good plot development and characterization, but at the same time didn't drag on. This is a good place to start for anyone who is interested in Sherlock Holmes; it's Sir Arthur Doyle's in the series. The syntax in story reflects a late 20th century British style. This should not be seen as an obstacle to new readers of the classics as its a fairly simple read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a great mystery novel.

Great book, great price. Got the Kindle edition of this book and it is fantastic. The Kindle edition is just the book and normal book info. There is no additional notes form someone else talking about the book. It's just the book and I like that.

This was the first Sherlock Holmes novel Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote, and it's the best in my opinion. The story grips you from the start, you get to see the very first meeting of Holmes and Watson, and the ending is one of the most shocking ones I've ever seen.

This is the seminal work in the world of Sherlock Holmes. Here began all of the traditions of The Game. A moving tale of vengeance brought to light by scientific reasoning, the precursor of CSI and all modern criminal investigation. This gem opens a whole world of adventure and fandom.

A full-cast BBC dramatization, A STUDY IN SCARLET is spellbinding! Clive Merrison and Michael Williams shine as Holmes and Watson, bringing humanity and clarity to the roles. No idiot Dr. Watsons or overly-serious Holmes' here. What a treat!

I really enjoyed the beginning back story of Dr. Watson. How him and Sherlock Holmes first got together as roommates and began the fast track to friendship. I really thought the process of Holmes figuring out mysteries was fascinating. I found myself trying to pick upon the clues and figure them out before he did. I thought the second part of the book about the murder's story was quite sad. But I am looking forward to starting the other Holmes's books.

This book was incredible, with witty dialogue and well thought out sentences, it is a book for the smart at heart. The deductions are factual, and to read through every step that Sherlock explains sends a shiver up your spine.

I have seen most of the movies with Sherlock Holmes. I always liked them but I had never took the time to read the Sherlock Holmes book series. I had thought that the writings would be a little too victorian but I was wrong. It is true the writing is flowery and descriptive but it is still a good story.
