This book was required for a class, very good plus you have access to the publishers website where you can get quizzes. It was delivered quickly and excellent price compared to most college required books

This is the best history textbook that I have ever read. It is written like a novel, and I can't seem to put it down. From having bad memories of grade and high school classes I didn't want to take U.S. History ever again. But this book erases all of that! I found it interesting that capitalism actually started in England. I apologize to the people that already knew that, but I didn't know that. That's why I am in school.

This book also makes it clear that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Like one reviewer said, one can get dark on the people who started America, (I won't use the same words that he did). That being said, after reading this you will realize how decisions that men made hundreds of years ago are still being made today. Also, the troubles that plagued their society plague ours today. There are definitely parts of the story that will make you angry!

So, if you get a chance to take a U.S. History class look out for a professor using this textbook. "Give Me Liberty" also has a companion book which is a compilation of the important documents mentioned in the text: "Voices of Freedom: Volume 1."

Great book, if you are taking a history class. There are a lot of topics to discuss and Review Questions are good for re cap the chapter that you've learned. Basic and simple Paragraph Title gives you an idea what you are going to be learning.

This book is long winded and the chapters tend to drag on, but with the length of the chapters comes a ton of interesting and informative information
Its a good book for one that is required, lets just hope you don't have to lug it around.

Arrived as described and great price! If the store is responsible for packaging, this is directed towards them: I wasn't pleased with the packaging at all. I feel as though the items were assailable to environmental elements, or could have easily slipped out of the untapped packaging, or easily stolen.

This author was very easy to understand, and I learned a lot. I loved the supporting website that allows you to print chapter outlines, watch videos, take practice quizzes, and more! E-book was great!

My school required this book for HST 201, Early U.S. History. I've been out of high school for a long time now, but I learned a lot that my schools never taught. I'll be hanging on to it for future reference, even though I am done with the class.

A good overview of the period, but any "survey" history book will miss a lot of the important details that give crucial context for any young history student. Foner is a good historian, but not a great one, although the "Suggested Readings and Websites" sections help students delve deeper into this important subject matter.
