I saw all the high ratings and downloaded the book without reading what it was about, so take that into account with this review. It was a well-written story, but not my personal flavor. It seemed slow paced and somewhat juvenile. I'm not sure if it is marketed as a YA book (the heroine is 22 after all), but that's exactly what it felt like. So if you're looking for a strong female lead like Kate Daniels or Jane Yellowrock, this isn't your heroine. However, if you're looking for something softer, still well-written, but not as bad-ass (like I said, Young Adult), then you'll likely enjoy this. It reminds me of Rachel Vincent's YA series, which is a high compliment if you're into YA books.

This is a brand new series from Ella Summers, author of the Dragon Born books.
What drew me into this book is that it's something completely different and new to what I've read before. The title of the book did worry me at first as I thought it would be all about vampires (and they're not my favourite creatures) but really this book is more to do with Angels, but not as we typically know them.
There were some steampunk elements to this Urban Fantasy boo and I definitely enjoyed reading those moments as I am a huge steampunk fan, however it wasn't overly obvious so if you're not a fan you don't need to worry about it overtaking the book.
Leda, who is our kickass lead female is a great character with the right amount of sassyness and wit thrown in to make me laugh out loud several times whilst reading. Nero, who is the main male has got the right mix of bad and good to his character (I love me a bad male but who can also show some compassion and caring at times) I loved the tension there is between the two of them. Personally I love a slow build of romance it's all the will they or won't they that makes it so exciting, and there was definitely the right mix there to keep me satisfied as I really dislike a too fast romance (to me it's all that build up tension that I enjoy)
I have to warn you though that I was left with a massive book hangover after reading this book and I just couldn't pick up anything else to read. I really do need the next book in this series ASAP as I impatiently want to know what's going to happen next. This book deserves more than the maximum 5 stars I have given and I recommend you pick it up and try it for yourself too, just be prepared to not want to read anything else after finishing this one.

Ella Summers is quickly becoming a favorite author. I've read all her other series and I like Legion of Angels best so far. I've already read the next two books and coming back to give a review.

Leda, is a our plucky protagonist, she is a bounty hunter in a post apocalyptic works where angels, demons, and monsters exist. She was taken in and raised by Calli and follows her foster mothers foot steps. Calli is the epitome of motherhood, she raises her foster children, hunts criminals, and runs a business.

Leda and her brother were bringing in a criminal that turns out to be a vampire and sets off a chain of unfortunate events leading to her broither who is hiding his abilities being taken. Leda joins the Legion as this is the only way she feels can help her find and save her brother. Signing up for the Legion is not for everyone and there is an Initiation ceremony that she must survive. Gains the unwanted attention of an officer who she swears is trying extra hard to kill her. Her story is not all sad. She makes great friends and meets new and interesting people.

I found this book to be very different from others dealing with the supernatural. There are gods, demons, angels, dark angels,.witches werewolves, and a partridge in a pear green but seriously. At some point monsters are unleashed upon the Earth in a war between demons and gods that has left much of the Earth a barren, dark place. The war is over but monsters remain. The Legion is an order of fighters led by Angels and supernaturals that are gifted magic by drinking the nectar of the gods. Those that survive go on to heal and protect mankind and to try to serve the greater good. There is something about Leda, even before she drinks the nectar. Vampires are enthralled by her hair and she is stronger and heals faster than a normal human. Her brother Zane is taken and she joins the Legion on order to save him. He is telepathic and a ghost which makes him a hot commodity for either side. In order to find him Leda must ascend to the highest level and receive the magic that would make her telepathic too. If she can survive the Legion's training first. Fast paced with lots of action, intrigue, and a bit of romance: you will love this book!! Can't wait until the next one is out!

This series is intriguing because it not only has supernatural creatures like witches, vampires and werewolves, but also gods, angels, fallen angels and demons.
Leda, the main female character, lived in a town called Purgatory, close to a wall holding back demons and such. At the start of the book she's living with her family who made a living as bounty hunters. Her foster mom is head, she has two foster sisters and a brother who all help out. She doesn't know much about her birth family.
Her brother disappeared while on a date, supposedly taken behind the wall. Because of this she decided to join the Legion of Angels to help get him back. Joining is a lifelong commitment, so if she makes it through training and succeeds in finding him she will still be in the Legion.
This book was mainly setting up the story line, characters, possible love interests, and starting her journey. The world building has a bit of steam punk type inventions and the author has been very creative in developing the series.

I'm writing this review after having finished book 4 of the series, and I can say that it only gets better. When I read book 1 last year I wasn't that impressed, but the writing was good so I went on to book 2, then 3 & now 4 and I'm so glad I did! The characters grow and mature, that story evolves and mysteries slowly unravel book by book -it's perfect. This is by far my favorite series by this author for the growth and change I see every time I complete a book. I can't wait for 5 & to see where the author takes these characters next.

I love how each side character is full of their own depth and complexities -not just the main. I love how nothing is black & white, which is boring, but instead shades of grey, or in relation to the series, full of both light and darkness.

5 stars for this book bc of how much I love the series.

First time reading or listening from the author’s book Vampire’s Kiss.
I thought the story was good. It had a nice steady pace to the story. Once I turned it on to listen to it, I couldn’t stop. Sure I took breaks when needed, but no bed for me until 3am. I was that hooked. You get introduced to a lot of characters. Some likeable, mysterious, and some you just want to plain out drop kick them to the jail cell or the end of them if really bad.
I liked the character’s Leda and her brother. She sure goes to a lot to try and save her brother. Loved the twist and action the story had as well. I hope to read more from the author, and find I will stalk their book shelves for awhile.

Thank you for sharing your book with me.

Loved the story line. Unlike so many other novels our heroine whose nickname i adore "Pandora" isnt thrust into a world of supernaturals with power. She is just a stubborn human whose compasion and love for her family (a missing brother) caused her to join the legion so she can gain the power she needs to find him. Every bit of strength and power she gains comes through her own determination not to give up and it also with a price...as we all know, nothing is free! So far this book has a bit of everything (except those crappy grammatical errors we all love, thank God) It has a fair bit of action, friendship, romance, and of course the enevitable betrayal! Recommended Great read from an avid reader. Ill be looking for more from this author while NOT so patiently waiting.....?

I love reading fantasy books and recently tapped into urban fantasy. This book was recommended by Kindle Unlimited and I figured, why not? I am glad that I decided to read it because I thoroughly enjoyed it! The MC is my favorite type - stubborn, passionate, loyal to her loved ones, mysterious past, vulnerable yet strong-willed, and someone who is destined for great things or a doomed future (time will tell) and she doesn't even know it or is afraid to. Throw in a hot, mysterious, cold exterior with turmoil underneath type of angel who is attracted (to say the least) to our MC and vice versa, along with an ongoing war between gods and demons, and you get "Vampire's Kiss"!

If you enjoy urban fantasy with romance, action, mystery, adventure and drama, you have to give this one a try! You won't be disappointed! Happy reading!

This story takes place in a future Earth in which powerful magical being of good (gods) and evil (demons) battle for control. The gods bring magic to humanity and the demons bring monsters. Humans live behind a great wall that keep out the monsters with the help of the paranormal Legion of Angles. Leda Pierce is a orphaned young woman who became part of a foster bounty hunter family. When her foster brother is kidnapped, she joins the Legion to gain the power to find and rescue him. But the Legion has a high morality rate from monsters and from tests to gain rank and power. The story is fast paced and characters are fairly complex. I would have liked more information about how the Earth changed during the first days of the god/demon war.

Excellent start of a new series from Ella Summers! It's a fast-paced series paced in a world where gods, angels, demons, monsters, normal humans and magically enhanced humans coexist and struggle for power. The main character is likable and very proactive (and has a big mouth ;) ). I love the cliffhanger chapter endings, the action scenes are strong, and the dynamics between characters (romance, friendship, enmity) are very well done. The main character is growing over the course of the book, and there's a bigger overarching plot / conspiracy that will be interesting to follow in the later books. Solid 5 stars. Looking forward to the next one!

Leda is taken down a road, making lasting friendships, along with finding traitors in her midst. She's as stubborn as they come and won't stop until she's completed her mission. Family means everything to her. Along the way, Leda meets an annoyingly harsh, sometimes dreadful, but gorgeous Angel who might just be her downfall or her greatest mentor. This is an excellent start to what I'm sure will be a best-selling series! I can't wait to read Book two! 5 stars!

This book moves fast, does not dwell on the violence, and has great kick ass characters. The female lead is not perfect, but instead, she is mouthy, smart and an independent thinker. The whole concept of a world with gods, both good and bad, and the humans they train to fight for them is an old, tried and true plot. And it really works for this modern day tale.

I enjoyed reading this first book in the series. Book one just stops which was jarring. Guess this was done to build the longing for the next installment! This story has unexpected turns which made it fresh and fun to read. There is a lot of meaningless death but if you can suspend the discomfort, the story is still interesting. Just when I thought I had it figured out I was delighted with a different result.

Guilty pleasure here. I thought I might skip the next one but I downloaded it anyway. Think Twilight with angels and demons. Badass girl wants to be an angel and has a maybe romance with her angel trainer and guide. Better writing than Twilight. I'll bet I finish the whole series. It helps that the main character isn't a teenager and doesn't spend pages worrying about what people think.

I really enjoyed this book, very fast paced easy to get into. Some books I don't like for the first chapter or two but this one was great from beginning to end. I really liked the main character, Leda she's good. She likes to help people, not a rule follower.

Very different from my usual genre, which made for a wonderful surprise when I was pulled right in. This book made for a great base for a trilogy, but even by itself was a very smart read. The main character is a strong, determined woman, but she is also funny in her sassy, stubborn way. Her love interest is intriguing, as is the the back storyline. I couldn't put this down and anxiously await the next chapter in this story.

I really did enjoy this book. I am really anxious to read the next book in the series. It kind of started out slow but then picked up where I didn't want to stop reading it until I finished it. It sure isn't the usual vampire story line which I found refreshing. Can't wait for the next installment.
I would gladly recommend this book.

The story is formulaic. The author had an interesting idea, but didn't think it through and flesh out the details. Even in fantasy worlds, I like order and laws of nature. This story was uninteresting. I couldn't finish it.

Kindleunlimited read....

This may be a first, (if not the first it was so long ago I've forgotten ), a prologue giving the basic information needed to understand the paranormal plot. What a concept, and I loved it!

This story was action packed. No romance, but on to book 2.

This could have been great but the stilted writing style and lack of depth in the character building and interactions, as well as the plot left a lot to be desired. It's as if the author skimmed over the surface instead of dragging you down into the depths of the story.

Fantastic! I loved the world, the society, the interplay between characters. Quite a few twists I didn't see coming, which was nice because I dislike books that you know "who dunit" several chapters before the reveal. Really looking forward to the next installation, as I was entranced by this one!

Ella Summers made this story more engaging than I initially thought it would be. I hesitated in reading this novel but I'm happy I did as it was an inspiring and fun read. The characters and storyline was more interesting than I thought it would be. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

A very tantalizing series of books. From the first to the last, keeps you hooked on the plot and the "tension" between the main character that is an angel and romantic interest. Creative and well written. A must read.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

This book is all action, all with a kick-ass heroine with a sassy attitude and endears the reader to her pretty quickly. There wasn’t much romance in this book, but it is setting up and I am truly looking forward to this series continuing.

Dialogue is sometimes stilted, but the chemistry between Nero and Leda is good. Some unexpected plot twists. NC-17 if there were ratings for that sort of thing. No actual hanky panky but plenty of adult situations. I will read the sequel. 3.5

Love reading about the Legion of Angels. The story is full of action, intrigues, and suspense. Leda is a tough and independent female lead character. She's a survivor and has attracted a tough angel's attention. Can't wait to see what happens in book 2.

The book has no definition. The world and magic system is haphazard, there is no real feeling behind the combat scenes, and the characters make inexplicable choices.
