Preston & Child succeed in creating a plausible suspense tale that reads very smoothly. The characters are well developed and very real. The story moves with interesting twists and turns that continuously excite the reader. I find these authors a joy to read.

I really enjoyed this story. Makes you ask yourself if it's worth it? Is there a pattern to these 2 authors stories? Not sure, but I will read a few more of their books and let you know. Preston and Child do know how to build the suspense. Enjoy!

Good story line. Typical child read with clear heroes , anti heroes and villains. I enjoy reading books like this one where the author doesn't twist the ending to be bad for the main character.. Keep up the good work. Sincerely,
Fan

Second book read by these guys. As good as Crichton, page turning and a really nice twist toward the end. Douglas and Preston have a sharpened talent for setting, I was there, man, I WAS THERE! Uncheesy dialogue, believable characters, attention to detail...loved it, will be reading more from them.

Anything from Preston & Child represents the best in science, intrigue & plot. This is the third time I've read this book since it came out - characters are interwoven from book to book - read them all in order...be warned, you'll get nothing else done! - C. Jansen

Well, I must confess I pretty much love everything these guys write, so I'm an easy sell. The writers merge history and science to create a tale that thrills the reader from the get-go. I hope to see Dr Hatch (main character) again in a future endeavor from these prolific writers.

I've read other books by Child/Preston (Relic and Reliquary) and found them fun but the writing just a little rough.
But Riptide, now--Wow! They have really hit their stride on this one. The pacing is great and the thought they put into how to approach the diabolically clever puzzle of the treasure pit is impressive.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book right to the end, even sneaking out to sit in my car at work to finish it!
In the first few pages of the book, we are introduced to the main character, Malin Hatch, as a boy, and see the gruesome tragedy that shadows the rest of his life, but that will not be fully explained until the end of the book. Then we skip forward 30 years. Ladies and gentlemen, THAT's what I call a "hook!" I was certainly hooked until the very end.
I'm certain you will enjoy this roller coaster ride of a book.
