Awesome story. This is very worth the read, everything tied up nicely from the first book and then more questions to keep you coming back. Looking forward to the 3rd book. If Taran Matharu ever reads this, you have written an amazing story here and I want to thank you for doing so.

Another great book in a great series. Don't read this book if you don't like cliff hangers because this book ends at the worst possible time. I am now stuck waiting for the next book in the series to come out because this one cut right in the middle of the action and we can only hope the next one is coming soon.

The characters are fun and memerable, especially Fletcher. The magic is also interestingly explained as well. All in all this was a freat read and i would definitely recommend reading it if this is your type of genre.
Apprentice (The Black Mage Book 2) :: The Mongrel Mage (Saga of Recluce) :: The Beautiful and Damned (Modern Library Classics) by F. Scott Fitzgerald (2002-02-12) :: Line of Control (Tom Clancy's Op-Centre) :: Rise of the Ranger (Echoes of Fate: Book 1)

This story starts with fletcher in prison and the trial that he is to go through. After many things are revealed during the trial the story jumps to a rescue mission in the heartland of the enemy. Only problem is fletcher has an assassins trying to kill him.
I feel this story fell short of the first book but still was not bad. I am torn between 2-3 Stars mainly because I hated the fact that fletcher didn't seem to try and figure out who the assassin is that was trying to kill him. Every time something happened he would shrug it off in stupidity. Even when he might have saved someone that might have had answers he doesn't ask questions.
There really wasn't that much action till the end, it was mostly a walk talk book. Though it left you on a huge cliff hanger that kinda leaves you annoyed.
If I were to do this purchase over again I would wait till the price drops because it certainly was not worth ten dollars for 250ish pages of read and 50ish pages of glossary.

This is an amazing sequel and just as addictive as The Novice. I couldn't put it down. We got to see a lot of dwarven culture in the first book, and I loved delving into the cultures of the different species in this one.
