This is a great book if you're planning on buying or building a small rural home or getaway. Even if you're not it's a fun book...but after you go thru this book you may decide "you" must have your own.

I bought the book because i was a big fan of the blog. Unfortunately the physical book let me down. The story and information is great, but the actual physical book is really low end. The quality of the printing looks like all the photos were printed on a home inkjet printer, very dark and low resolution...coming from a blog that was entirely beautiful pictures, this was a huge letdown.

For lovers of small or isolated spaces, this book is a must have. The featured cabins/spaces are organized by type. The best part of the book is the inclusion of an extended story about a space of each type, providing more background into what drove some of the decisions in locating and designing that particular person's cabin. I'm giving the book 4 stars because I would have loved more detail and photos about these highlighted spaces. Many times my appetite for details was merely whetted by the stories.

I just got this book today, and I'm so stoked to get into it. First glance, the reviews on the picture quality are pretty accurate. They aren't high quality gloss images. They're more matte, but I personally find it kind of interesting. (some are definitely more low qual then others, though)
There's more to this book than just photos, and I love that there are stories to go along with it. Can't wait to read it cover to cover.

The book is stunning. The photographs encompass the entire page and are excellent.

The packaging destroyed the dust cover. It was completely mangled. This book is a gift so that is the reason I took away a star. the store did not give the option to review the packaging separately from the product.

Impossible to read. The book is small in size - it should be large. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed and would have returned it, if that were possible. I love the idea, and the title, but as others have said, the printing quality is poor, as was the choice of size.

Coffee table type book. Pinterest bound. Nice to look at; but, not much in the way of information. Some of the photos are rather poor via being over stylized to achieve a cohesive/certain tone. An rainy day internet search for cabins would provide the same inspiration.

Most if not all of this information can be located on the Cabin Porn site. A great book for someone who is not familiar with site or as an introduction to small living. Does make for a pretty addition to table books.

Not so much what I was hoping- my own fault, though. I should have looked closer and paid better attention. Book was often presented in such a way in photos that I mistakenly thought it was a large coffeetable-sized art book. Not so though- a smallish/medium "regular-sized" volume. Also, cabins are a wee bit less than what I was hoping. Appears most- maybe even all- are pieced-together from re-purposed/re-cycled salvaged materials. I had hoped at least a portion of them might be more polished finished-appearing places. I'm sure this is a great book for folks going into it w/ more knowledge than I. But I was looking for something different.

Wish it had been printed on glossy paper for better photos, and also a larger size book so the photos would come out nicer. Still enjoy it, the background info and stories are nice, but I think I prefer endlessly scrolling through the website.

I love the content, but the binding cracked and one large section began falling apart the first time I opened it. After browsing I’ve had to start taping pages together to keep them from simply falling out. Good book. Cheap book-binder. Someone should be ashamed ... and send me a new (tested) copy.

lots of rather poor quality pics with little or no explanation, and what text there is is extremely small (get out your magnifying glass or page reader).
Maybe there is something in it for inspiration if you're willing to read the fine print and just like looking at external pic of structures and place settings.
The book is overall way too small. They could have included less pictures with more text and had a quality larger format paperback. To me this is just kind of an annoyance.

Photo quality was very poor, for a book derived from a photo blog. Could have been because they went with matte pages, rather than glossy? Also, the margins were weird and it was difficult to properly open the book. Returned it.

Meh. Not as good, in my opinion, as viewing the online site. The paper and print quality isn't great, and the variety of 'cabins' seem much more shack-like than online. I haven't read much of the text of the book but I am hoping that it will provide some information on how to locate, build, love and enjoy a cabin of my own!

I love the simplicity, authenticity, and purity of the structures in this book. The photos are even better than those on the blog, and the stories behind each cabin are inspirational. The landscapes are breathtaking; the forests, mountains, deserts, and cliffs are awe inspiring. A+!

This book would be better titled "Shack Porn". I was looking for design ideas for the tree house I plan to build. I built more imaginative interiors when I was 10. I was looking for more sophisticated Ideas than lining out can goods on cross beams or the frame. What a waste of money!

I have great interest in architecture, simplified living, eco-friendly building materials, and tiny homes in general. This book did not satisfy any of those interests. It barely scratched the surface of any of these topics, but spent tons of time telling a story of a few hipsters who built a few cabins in the woods without going into almost any detail of their techniques or inspiration. I have an issue with the images in the book as well. Most of the featured "cabins" are so basic that they are not even livable by anyone but a crazy hermit (think mud and twigs and nothing else). Not only that but the photos are shot in such low-light that only the most hipster of the hipster population would think these are good. Ultimately, this book is aimed at hipsters who live in the city, drink Starbucks everyday, and like to tell people they have a "cabin" they built in the woods out of locally sourced materials so they can increase their hipster ranking, and have this book on their shelves in the city so guests ask about it.

This book's name is off. I never expected chapters on: How to live underground, how to revive a bungalow, how to live 30 feet in the air and how to build a yurt to name a few chapters in a book called cabin porn. I wanted to see cabins ! Not tree houses and grain silos. I wish I had known about the web site and saved myself the money on this book. I waited impatiently for this book and was extremely disappointed.

Where the blog is an endless scroll of incredible cabins in serene the settings, the book is a highly curated and catalogued collection of both beautiful cabins and incredible photography.

Not to be kept away on a shelf but front and center as an object of art unto itself. Stunning.

Yanno....I just received this book today. I am sure there is lots of great content in here but opening up my the store box grabbing the book and in excitement thumbing through the pages I was completely underwhelmed by the print quality. I would compare it to a high quality inkjet printing on matte paper. The photography looks dull and faded....which is disappointing to me because as the title of the book implies I LIKE Cabins so I want to see rich high quality Cabin photography! It truly is a shame as I am sure the content developers here worked hard on putting all of this together with a final presentation that is lackluster and not representative of the hard work put into creating the book.

Wonderful stories and beautiful pictures. I've seen a couple people complain about the name but that's one of the best parts. Don't be such a prude it's a great name. I bought this for my girlfriend after I saw it in a store and sent her a picture because she loves the blog. I know she'll love it but damn I wanna keep it for myself!

Let me begin by sharing that I am Zach's father, and as a result may exhibit a certain amount of bias in my enthusiasm for this book. It has been a unique privilege to witness how Beaver Brook has evolved. And, what makes it more enjoyable for me, is that when I reminisce about all the special moments that have been shared there by my family, and consider that this same amount of pleasure has been shared in all of these other locations, is overwhelming. Hats off, to all involved in making this happen. Cruise.

I bought it for a present for my son and daughter in law, who are thinking of buying 100 acres in VA. They are hunty, fishy, hikey types, so I think they will enjoy it. I am none of those things, but I am enjoying the book very much. It is full of the personal interest stories of the folks who made the cabins in the book. It is a good read, regardless.

I've followed the blog for years now and had high hopes for this book. While the authors could have easily phoned it in by making a book version of the blog, I was refreshed to find they went much deeper. The book does provide many stunning images, as you would expect, but it also profiles several cabins and their builders, diving into their inspiration and process for their passion project. I was also pretty impressed that they were able to make such a gorgeous printing for a relatively low price point. This one definitely recalls the hand made home books from the 70s and it really feels like an instant classic. Bravo!

This book was not at all what I was expecting. Based on the title, I assumed it would be beautiful pictures of cabins. Nope! In fact, most of the structures in this book wouldn't even qualify as cabins, in my opinion. Lots of boring "who cares" stories. A great big waste.

Written by a one percenter trying to be a trendy hipster 99 percenter. Lost all interest when they discussed there wood fired hot tub in the first chapter. Continued for some of the building information. Laughed at Japanese style cabin class. I'm a little jealous I don't have thousands to throw at my cabin projects but I am happy that I earn them with sweat equity!

This was a Father's Day gift, and I didn't realize until I visited him 2 months later (I live out of town), that all the pages came loose from the binding. Apparently this started happening right away, but he never told me, not wanting to complain about a gift. I wish there was a way to at least exchange this item as it was supposed to be a nice coffee table book. But now it's headed to the recycling bin instead.

I am really surprised by this book. I love any and all stories like this. I want to build my own cabin on my land I recently bought and have been seeking extra knowledge like this. What I can't figure out though is, did I finish the book in a couple hours because I love it that much, or because it is too short? I loved one or two stories much more than the rest, based off preference of building style. Maybe I expected something different from this book, but $15 and I was done in about two hours is kind of disappointing.

Poor choice for a book title.

Seriously, is this a new trend among authors? Adding "Porn" as a marketing gimmick to sell a book.

If this was a name they had all along for a literary project, I feel sorry for them. It wreaks of "simple minded loser".

Does the word "porn" have to be everywhere today? Pornography is a horrible, degrading, and often violent business that, unfortunately, has worked its way into our vernacular. On CBS This Morning (9/30/2016), the author admitted that his viewing of porn at a younger age was a mistake, and yet he included the word in the title of his book because it was catchy; in other words, it would sell better. What are parents going to say when their children ask what porn has to do with cabins? We are raising a generation of children who have been exposed to way too much at way too early an age. What kinds of adults are they going to be? Doesn't anyone consider that anymore, or does everything have to do with money? Maybe reviewing the title of a book is picky, but casually throwing words like "porn" around just promotes it, and that's not good for anyone.
