I did not like this book.
A comment from Wickipedia about E.A. Budge, whom the author sites as one of his sources, best describes the whole of this book. Of Budge the commentator writes, "The common writing style of his era - a lac of clear distinction between opinion and incontrovertible fact - is no longer fashionable." I agree with the author that the Hebrews and the Egyptians were black people, but I find the book to be a convoluted compilation of possible truth, conjecture, contradiction and some out-right lies. At one point he sites the Walt Disney cartoon movie, "Prince of Egypt", as proof that Moses, who lead the Hebrew people out of bondage in Egypt, was an Egyptian and not one of the Hebrew people. At best, the cartoon is questionable as proof of his assertion and on many occasions he fails to put forth any sources at all for his so-called facts. Unfortunately, he uses the same writing style as that of the writers who's accounts he is trying to refute.

This story will require 2 or 3 readings to digest all the information presented between the covers of this tome. The author verifies his facts using his research and that of other experts in this field. The author makes a presentation that is readable for the non academic.

This is an unusual book which traces the linguistic and ethnic roots of the Ancient Israelites to the Akan language and the Afrim people, respectively. The etymology of the word "Afrim" means to break away or secede from. This is borne out in the biblical Exodus when the Israelites left Egypt. The central thesis of Dr. Darkwah is that "the people that left Ancient Egypt in the biblical Exodus were mostly Akan people that were joined by other African tribes with no racial group of people from anywhere amongst them." (p.32) The conclusions are unsettling for sure, but captivating to one's intellectual and spiritual curiosity. The very nature of the author's findings is fundamentally arcane. Though the Ancient Israelites were a distinct people, their primitive theosophical paradigm was Ancient Egyptian, Darkwah argues. Darkwah also suggests that there was a Roman Catholic conspiracy to cover up the theosophical origins of Christianity (also fundamentally Ancient Egyptian) and that racism gained full momentum with the birth of Protestantism. Another intriguing fact introduced by Nana Darkwah is the Akan origin of the word "Essene," which was the esoteric branch of the Hebrew religion in Jesus' day. The etymological origin can be traced to the African tribe called the "Assin." Ground-breaking revelation, indeed. I am still reading the book, and will update this review when I am done. I can certainly see why this book is out-of-print. This book has the intellectual capacity to initiate another reformation within the pales of so-called "orthodox" Judaism and Christianity. We haven't seen the end of the discussion posited within this book. However, there is one serious and alarming deficiency in the thesis of this book so far, the author seems relentless to undercut the authenticity of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament. Darkwah seeks to point out contradictions without an enlightened understanding as to why they seem to exist in the minds of those not spiritually equipped to apprehend the mysteries of the Bible. I would agree that the roots of Hebreo-Christian religious concepts are centered in ancient Egyptian theosophy. However, Dr. Darkwah fails to grasp that the Most High chose a people to carry on His truth, and that was Israel (or "Asrae," as he interestingly calls her, which means "the visited one" in the Akan language). While vociferously indicting the Children of Israel as plagiarists, Darkwah [with a strange twist of irony] validates them as God's Chosen People with such pronouncements as "the visited one!" Egypt lost her place through idolatry. Biblical Israel was neither innocent in this matter also. Yes, God communicated his revelation first to the sons of Ham, namely the Ethiopians and Egyptians...but later called Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees to build a nation. I maintain, through careful research of the Bible and history, that the revelation of God was transmitted to the Israelites through Abraham and finally through Moses. He also seeks to undercut the biblical Exodus, the historicity and existence of Moses, sadly based on the twisted research of another beguiled Jewish author named Gary Greenburg, which is also equally disturbing. Why would a man who claims such an experiential authority on the origins of the Bible consult one who doesn't even believe in it? Is it because Darkwah himself is an unbeliever? I would venture to believe so.

The Africans Who Wrote the Bible is expertly researched and presented. It is a great tool for understanding the origin of bible concepts and theory. I am still digesting the information provided by Dr. Darkwah - it's overwhelming. This research has answered questions that I could not ask as a child without punishment because of the 'believe without question' doctrine in church. As a 63 year old black woman who grew up in the United States, I welcome a well researched explanation of the bible and our beginning . I accept the fact that the Bible was altered to pacify the whims of Europeans. Still digesting the strength of Dr. Darkwah's research due to early teachings but I accept his findings. Within my heart know that his research provides truth for all of us seeking historical knowledge of the bible and regarding the rich past of our ancestors. I strongly recommend this book for all looking for truth regarding our rich black heritage. I would rate this work at 10 stars if they would allow it. Thank you Dr. Darkwah!

The blackman's exodus from Egypt after the implosion of the kingdom and the Ptolemaic dynastiy about 332 AD saw them move from the open desert into the refuge of the fthick forests of sub-Saharan Africa. Back to the bible in a Nigerian tribe (Ibo language} GENESISI means "go to the very beginning" The abstractness of some words could be uncovered with intensive research involving African tribes.

This book is an interesting compilation of information concerning the african orgins of the bible, the origin of the books contained in it and also the circumstances surrounding the characters and the situations portrayed in them. Additionally the author traces the various biblical names back to individual African Tribal Oriigins.

The author painstakingly showed other schools of thought not widely acknowledged and or known.

Although the author is redundant and shows excessive emotionality in his explanation of events and characters, his work is definately worthwile and IS A MUST in anyone's study in religion, spirituality and faith.

This proves from DNA that Black Africans are the Jews and the people in the bible then the so call Europeans and American Jews which comes from the Black Africans. The book quotes:
"Statistically, the Lemba people from Southeast Africa are more Jewish than European Jews. In a particular Lemba Clan known as the Buba Clan, 53 percent of the males carry the unique DNA signature of Jewish priests. Males form the Lemba Tribe carry a higher incidence of the Jewish priestly DNA signature than the European and American Jewish population".
The truth will set you free...from many decades of lies.

This is a very powerful, wonderful book. I give nothing but applause to the author. The book is well written and very informative. (I only wish the author would not repeat himself so much. This becomes very annoying) However, despite that minor distraction, the information is essential and should be considered required reading for every man, woman, child, boy, muslim, jew and christian in America.

A ten star book! Highly detailed and worth much, much more than its current market value. The only people you'll find giving low ratings about this amazing and very well researched book, are people (and you know who they are) that consistently have trouble with historical TRUTH and of any kind that goes against the lies they were taught as children!

There are many books, bibles and information available to us regarding Jesus and his family, so this book also warrants our attention, thought and additional research. I would like to thank Nana Banchie Darkwah for asking us to think and reason a little more deeply than we already do.

What comes across in this book is that because society gives us a description of Jesus as fair/red-headed and white we just naturally assume that the information provided to us from various sources is in fact the truth? That is one BIG assumption. After all how many people from a Middle Eastern/African continent would be of this genetic makeup especially during the time Jesus was born with limited contact with Europeans and limited mixing between the races of people as it would have been frowned upon in their respective communities? We must continue to explore possibilities, research and search for the truth. As the Theosophical Society motto goes "There is no Higher Religion than truth". How apt.

This book attempts to do a critical revision of traditional viewpoints on how the Old Testament came into being. The author obviously, is very concerned about the marginal respect that Africans have received in the development of the Biblical narratives as well as the development of the Judeo-christian world. These objectives appear to be the major concerns engaging the work of the author. I think the major flaw of the book is that, it makes bold assumptions not rooted in any verifiable and rigorous research.
To think that the author's native Akan language is the basis for interpreting the thoughts and philosophy of the Old Testament is rather shallow and without depth.
As an African and an Akan myself, I am overwhelmed by the some of the correlations of the author's logic. How can anyone use similar sounding words in the Akan language to define world history and explain wide ranging civilisations as that of Egypt, Middle East, Europe and Asia -to the extent of even rooting the Japanese monarchy within an Akan culture? I see that as a gross over-stretching of an inconclusive hypothesis. Such over-stretched logic is what Europe used to bastardise our African culture and self-understanding. We must not allow the pain of our alienation to spawn within us the reactionary desire to get even at the expense of respect for all races and tolerance of others.
Much as I share the author's concerns for righting the centuries-old mischaracterisation of Africa, I do not subscribe to the theory supporting his revisionism.

THIS BOOK IS REMARKABLE. EVEN THOUGH I CANT AFFORD IT I HAVE READ A FEW OF THE PAGES AND I CANT SEEM TO PUT IT DOWN. I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN THAT EUOROPEANS COULD NOT CLAIM ANY PART OF THE BIBLE AS THIERS AND THAT EVENTUALLY THE LIES THAT THEY HAVE DISTORTED WILL COME TO THE LIGHT ONE DAY.I JUST HOPE THAT PEOPLE OF COLOR WAKE UP ONE DAY AND REALIZE THAT THEY OWE IT TO OUR ANCESSTORS TO SEEK OUT THE TRUTH SO THAT OUR KIDS HAVE SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF.I HOPE THIS BOOK COULD BE A START IN THAT DIRECTION THANK YOU!

Wonderfully written, thought provoking, and a must read. If your spirit has been lacking due to the voids that we often have in our lives, this book provides a means of setting it free. The common link to humanity can be found in it's content. Everyone needs and deserves to have "truth", and an open mind will allow this book to speak to the very essence of your being. Knowledge is power, understanding that knowledge opens everyone up to wonders that exist within this world, and the woners that existed before. Many people have a conflict with the Bible and it's contents, and every avenue I had taken left me desiring more truth about the Bible and how it came to be. I've found this book to be enlightening to say the least, and life changing to sum it up. Thank you for the many references that support your writing Dr. Darkwah, I look forward to your next book(s) in the future, and my life will never be the same. "Now Is The Time...."

This book is about the early inhabitation of black Africans in North Africa, (including) the so-called Middle East and actually southern Asia as far as China. Creating all of the "world religions", not only the monotheistic ones, but also e.g. Buddhism. It is about the Jews/Hebrews originally having been black-skinned, and therefore all of the important characters and authors of the bible. The author shows how Christianity/Judaism was created along ancient Egyptian religion and sets the record straight about some false assumptions of Western egyptologists, e.g. concerning the pharao Akhenaten (or Akenten). He claims a strong relationship between the ancient Egyptians and Western Africans who live in Ghana today, most of all the Akan. The book is also about the fakings of the religion and their own origin of the early Jews and the Vatican some centuries later, the latter of which especially designed the mass slavery of blacks for the purpose of concealing the origin of the bible.

For all of that, the book deserves full points and some bonus points. However, some subtractions have to be made.

For one thing, the writing is the absolute epitomy of repetetive writing I dearly hope to never have to be exposed to in my natural lifetime ever again. In fact, I had to tame my adrenalin gland because of that, while reading some sentences a couple of hundreds of times. The book could easily get digested to much less than a fourth without any sentence, let alone content getting lost. However, I am aware that in some African cultures this may be the normal way of writing, so ok...

There are minor inaccuracies. Linguistically, for example, the German last name "Bauer" would not be translated by any German as "builder", but as "farmer". (An easy mistake to make for non-German speakers.) Also, Germany did not have to give up its colony of Togo after WWII, but during WWI.

Using genetic science in his reasoning, the author should have known that there are absolutely no races among humans. Some wrong assumptions, also related ones, are derived in this book from that lack of overstanding. Being a historian he may have known that the concept of a "nation", as some of us believe in it today is little more than two centuries old or less, most certainly it did not exist in ancient times. Researching ancient religious concepts of gender, he might have cross-checked that with modern (yet largely censored) information, coming to the conclusion that different genders do not exist either. That would have been necessary to better overstand the respective ancient African knowledge/religious concept about that. Also, of course, religion did exist well before the ancient Egyptians, way back into the stone age, so it is daring to aver, the ancient Egyptians invented religion. And no matter wether it is true that the ancient Egyptians left Egypt to become the Akan and other West Africans (or wether there exists a relationship between the two groups, BEFORE splitting and one half of them actually BECOMING the ancient Egyptians), most certainly it is ridiculous to claim, the ancient black Egyptians became "the Africans" as in ALL of them. For example genetics should have shown the author that the so-called San (and so-called Mbutis) are the original humans. And of course, Africa was inhabitated before the black Egyptians moved to whereever.

The author's general claims are convincing, however, some of his specific conclusions are occasionally a bit of a fishing. Others are theories, in need to get scientifically proven. Which is not to say that the author is generally wrong about that what is mentioned above in the content paragraph. On the contrary, that's why the book still got almost full points despite its flaws. In fact, this book is one of the very most important ones to have been written around the turn of the millennium. No religious person of almost any branch of religion on this planet should miss it, most certainly no RastafarI, as I am one: There will be some surprises for RastafarI, confirming and challenging ones, all absolutely necessary to know and to grow spiritually. For example that "Jah" is the FEMALE version of God called "Jahwe", the male version, at other places. So much for the patriarchy of the more orthodox previous Rasta generations.

Some information I missed in the book. For example about the sign of life on the cover. Though mentioned and named and also mentioned that the Christian cross is derived from it, it would have been absolutely worth it to explain the different parts of its symbolism. (Which I did with other sources and I can only recommend the reader to do this and draw the conclusion, why the Vatican changed it, not only for concealing the origin of Christian religion, but also to conceal the before mentioned gender concept.) Also, I assume Ethiopia plays a larger role in all of that than merely getting mentioned.

I hope this book will be followed up by other books enlightening the original religion, which became Christianity and the other world religions, because clearly, Western egyptologists have largely butchered any overstanding of it and this book merely scrapes off the surface in this respect.

This book is absolutely phenomenal in terms of the information that it presents on the topic of the original writers and texts that compose today's Bible. The author convincingly presents incontrovertible information that really turns many of the basic premises of the Bible on it's head. In terms of books that reveal the "secrets" behind the Bible, this book has no equal. The only reason I could not give it five stars is due to the fact that the actual writing itself leaves some to be desired. The fact that the author is not a native English speaker is obvious by the structure of certain sentences. I loved the book and will always keep it as a reference. I can't relay how much I believe every Christian should read this book

I had always felt that it was ancient Negro/African's stories, that later became the Caucasian Bible. And that the stories (like so much of Western literature) were written to promote White Supremacy; while covertly justifying the continued exploitation of Negroes and Negro Africa. And such exploitation will continue to morph itself into new ways by new names, for as long as Negro Africans remain afraid, and meekly surrender the Rights to live our lives fully free. I felt that God would have to be an ungrateful Dictator to not acknowledge that the Jews (who were first welcomed in Egypt (and given fertile land, power and left alone to become wealthy) had overstayed their welcome, and apparently were not willing to share their wealth and wisdom with the descendants of the Egyptians who had enabled them to become who they were. (A situation no different than that of Europeans and Native Americans today. Who; from welcoming Europeans at first, Native Americans have long since become the worst and poorest in these so-called New World.

Therefore; although the Pharaoh in question was despicable, God could've taken the Moral High Ground, by removing His Chosen People to any of the many unoccupied areas that would've been plentiful in the world at that time. He had powers to turn any desert into fertile Gardens of Eden. An act which would've forever taught humans a better way to resolve conflicts and live in peace. Instead; it is stated that He resorted to the Negative Low Ground, (like mere mortals often do) and provoked and tempted the Pharaoh to act in strong defiance. Thus giving Himself "God" the opportunity to show how much suffering he can exert on a populace, for the wrongdoing of their leader, who was most likely causing them harm too. Today the same tactics are continued, where Nations claiming to have God on their sides, think nothing of convincing their populace that a leader (with whom they no longer agree) needs to be extracted. And for that thousands of innocent people must die in the crossfires, in order to avenge one Dictator with whom the invading Nation once colluded as friend.

After Egyptians of all ages, sexes, as well as their fields and animals experienced God's wrath, God then led His Chosen People out of Egypt to wander around for decades more. Before he invaded occupied territory, where he killed numerous other humans (again) of all sexes and ages; thus transferred ownership of their land. And that M.O. (established by God) continues today. Where supposedly Godly Nations call on God to be on their sides. When they decide to invade and terrorize other Nations, just to take whatever valuable resources they've decided that they should control.

I knew that such stories (always showing God on the side of white people, while meeting out disproportionate punishment to Black/Negros for questionable misdeeds; were just more pieces of the Universal White Supremacy subconscious programming, institutionalized by the trusted books of Western indoctrination, which a significant percentage of the world daily use. When I read Africans who wrote the Bible it just confirmed what I'd always known inside. I believe it 100%.

Better editing would've made reading much more enjoyable overall. The same facts were annoyingly repeated. But if one can prepare their mind to overcome the repetitions and keep reading, I think one will be satisfied. (That is; if you're a person who think that mere mortals should not be held-up to higher standards than the God we're supposed to adore. And a transcendental being should not be "as" or "more" petty, bloodthirsty and unjust than mortal dictators, whom we're supposed to agree to dispose of fast).

Unfortunately, those who still think that in 2009 they alone must decide what Negroes should read or know about ourselves, seem to have made this book unavailable and the author seem to have disappeared.

I expected a literary treat and I was not disappointed. I read the book very slowly 'cause I wanted to absorb every vowel, consonant, syllable, word, sentence and paragraph.

To keep the reader in perspective Dr. Darkwah provides a continuous summary of his curiosities that lead to his ideas that led to his theories that lead to his many researches that lead to the absolute truth in the undeniable proof that 'Ancient Egyptian Africans' are the 'think tank' that formed modern civilization as we know and experience it today,

I personally wrote Dr. Darkwah and his instant reply was kind...

He is correct, Akan is dominant. He is Akan and he is a great scholar. He took the time to research, confirm and prove biblical concepts that I'd always found 'suspect.'

He is [forever] my tutorial scholar, and I told him so....

Excellent work!!!
Many of our brothers and sisters may be bothered by the style. As an African from royal family I know that the repetition of the same thing over and over was and still remains a device to covey the information and make sure that the story doesn't change from one repetition to the other.
We praise you brother!!!
You have given in your book an excellent reason to African not to loose their native languages. I call upon God and our ancestors to bless you with long life and good health because they have already blessed you with intelligence and wit. Bravo!!!

Alafia,
I recently purchased this book. I find it filled with amateur opinions and devoid of any true cultural value. Dr. Darkwah, it seems to me, suffers from a syndrome that affects many continental Afrikans and diasporic Afrikans. This syndrome is "how do I fit myself into the Holy Bible and validate myself within a European institution." First, the attempt was to make Jesus Black, but in light of sagacious researchers and impeccable truth-finders, we found the New Testament Jesus myth to be just that - a myth. Dr. Darkwah is from the Akan people of Ghana, however, outside of some linguistic reference, the Akan people and their culture are barely discussed. The author bases all of his opinions upon linguistic similiarities, but such foundations provide very little in making authentic connections. One can, if willing, show that any group of people are related by finding the right words to illustrate relationship, i.e. Germanic Goths and Yoruba people. Even the data, Dr. Darkwah submits for linguistic grouping is inaccurate and at worse, misleading. Afrikans are the oldest branch of humanity, however, in his book, Dr. Darkwah gives a chart showing many Afrikan languages were descended from a language group known to have been younger, by mainstream scholars and radical-minded Afrikans. It appeared to yours truly that Dr. Darkwah was trying to hard to give Afrikans a glorious past. Do not reinvent the wheel! Our ancestors, whether they have been Akan, Yoruba, Ewe, Hausa, Songhai, Bakongo or some other Afrikan group, already have a glorious past. They have a past that does not need to be bolstered by imagined hard to fit fantasies. Dr. Darkwah chooses to find a people who only goes back 6,000 years ago and trys to make them the ancestral stock of a group of Afrikans, whose lineage shatters the 6000 by millenia. It is a disgrace and a disservice to Afrikan people worldwide. The most frightful thing is his book gets into the hand of some well-financed whacko to support or even start a neo ideology - Jews were the founders of the Akan states, Oyo Empire or even Old Ghana, itself. Basically, read, Jews were the ORIGINATORS OF AFRIKAN CIVILIZATION! ... Read the book for yourself and I bet, if you are a astute Afrikan, you will cringe, too. Not because of the controversial fact, but because of the blatant debasement of Afrikan people, the honorific position of Jewish tradition and names and the historical/anthropological inconsistencies. I refer books like: "Gerald Massey's Lectures", "Of Water and Spirit" by Malidoma Some, "Sacred Woman" by Queen Afua, and any book on Ifa.

Dr. Darkwah wrote a good book, but all reading this should know there are other books on this topic as well. For this, one should check Hebrewism in West Africa. Any way, Darkwah had a good book, and showed the African presence in Egypt as well as among the Afrim( as he would say)or Jews. I have talked to people from Ghana that live in the United States, and they told me everything that Darkwah has said in this book is almost common knowledge in West Africa. I have even met people with names that Darkwah has mentioned. At first glance, anyone that is not willing to do the research will just excuse this book as crap but if you do your research you'll see that Egypt, the Afrim or Jews, and West Africans all have one thing in common, the same anscestors.

I have decided to revisite this review based on the article written under the topic "Affirmative Action for the Bible."This reviewer denies that Hebrewism is from Egypt so in this next paragraph I will destroy him.

First off it should be said by, Biblical chronology and this book, that Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, and yes Jesus all wen't to EGYPT. The Old Testament was written at the Library of Alexander from old papyrus texts in EGYPT. The story of creation can be found in the deity Khnum in Egypt. Issac name in Egyptian(Ysach) means Ys-place, Ach-of offerings to the sun god Ra. If you recall Issac was going to be a sacrice. Noah was Nuak, and in Egyptian Mythology Nu was equal with the waters. Also Isreal is YSRAIL. In Egyptian Ys-place Ra-sun god Il-creation. So this very name already means place of Ra's creation. For verification on this information read African presence in Early Aisa(Ivan Van Sertima/Runoka Rashidi) Also you sould know, monotheism predated Moses with Akhenaton of Egypt, and Zoroaster of Babylon. The first flood stories were of that in Egypt with Ra and Hathor, and in Babylon with Utnapishtim and Gilgamesh. The story of Jacob the Dreamer is an old tale in Egyptian Hyrogliphics. Even with this Jesus is predated in the orchestration of his Bibical life first by Osiris, Horus, and Isis, and then by 16 counterparts(for more on that read 16 Crucified Saviors by Kersey Graves)

In the End both Faith and Love are Blind.

shepherdboy1 is full of "it" and obviously NOT an African or Akan. He/she is far to self-loathing to be such. The author's very much informing and eyeopening research seems alien to shepherd boy because NO ONE ELSE HAS THE NERVE OR COURAGE to write the truth!!! Face it shepherdboy and give credit where credit is due to the author and to African/Akan/African-American people the world over. By the way, did you notice the author has a PHD in this research field? Or does that matter to you. I am far more likely to believe what someone with a PHD has to say as opposed to someone with a NON-PHD.

Darkwah has cut a huge portion of the fabric that "world European lies" have used over the ages to conceal the greatness of the African people. His book seems to eloquently shed light on subjects that have been blurred for years. I recommend, not only blacks, but those who seek the truth to buy this book. This is the beginning of an information revolution. To those who have an ear, let them hear.

The Bible's origins (for the most part) comes from the Middle East, primarily Asia Minor. If you take the text LITERALLY, you recognize that the Israelites (the word "Jews" literally means someone from the Tribe of Judah) were a Semitic people of Syrian origins. The Bible also makes it clear that some of the narrative takes place in Egypt as well. It is mainly a tale involving people of color. But the people of color are brown, not black.

I do not doubt the universality of the stories. Many similar tales come from Mesopotamian literature as well as the Greek myths. And given that Adam and Eve came FAR more likely from Kenya that Iraq, close ties to parts of Africa are inevitable. But I find a hard time buying the book's central premise.

If someone is concerned that Africans are underepresented in the Bible then maybe they shouldnt try to fabricate the origins of the Bible but investigate why North Africans no longer have their own civilization. The reason Africans dont appear in the Bible, isnt becuase the Bible is racist, its because the Bible applied originally to a small tribe(although perhaps not small in those days) of people enslaved by Egypt, who then immigrated to Israel. The obsession with race has been taken to another level with this book that not only argues the Bible is Egyptian in origin but argues that Egyptians are Africans, whereas just becuase Egypt is in Africa doesnt say much about the ethnic makeup of the Egyptians in 2500 B.C. This is the problem when one wants to telescope our modenr day racial idelogy into a time before such things mattared. The Bible didnt mention race because its a modern theory, unless one takes the Biblical narrative of Ham to mean Africans, since Ham went to Africa. The Bible had a very narrow scope of the world, mostly concentrated on the various peoples of the Middle East and their origins. It is moronic to try to graft on a modern day obsession with africanizing everything, onto a book and a revelation that dates from a period thousands of years before the common era. This book is yet another example of historical revisionism and academic hoco-pocos.
