This book breaks down the basics of the small mental challenges we face that slow ourselves down. This book helps me understand when I am not in the zone mentally and being mentally lazy. I feel now that I am more conscious of my mental state and can keep a positive mindset. Mathis is a great read if you are in sales or management also. It will also help the golf game

Excellent selection of sayings and instruction from top athletes, sports psychologists, coaches and managers. Good instruction on the mental game. As Yogi Berra said, 70% of this game is mental, and the other half physical!!!!

Great handbook for young (and old) athletes. Winning is a mind game--everyone knows this. The stories to illustrate the points in the book are excellent. We gave one to each grandchild with his/her Christmas gift.
The classic guide to the mental side of peak performance by W Timothy Gallwey (5-Sep-1986) Paperback :: The Inner Game of Golf :: The Inner Game of Music :: Don't Make Me Count to Three :: Slapstick or Lonesome No More!

This book is tough to review because people have different expectations with sport psychology books. If you are looking for a neatly organized system of beliefs, principles, and exercises to begin applying to your game tomorrow this might not be the book for you. Maybe you should check out With Winning In Mind or 10-Minute Mental Toughness? With that said, I loved this book. Once you start it you might not be able to put it down. Its a motivational book that weaves sports psychology principles into stories to illustrate the importance of each principle. This book inspired me to write down an effective system of beliefs and checklists I can go through before a game. The important part is the system and beliefs are mine.

Borrowed from the library after a ex-college player recommended it. My daughter loved it, wrote quotes all over her room to inspire her. (She is a high school golfer) My husband enjoyed it too, easy read. Bought it for her to mark up and reread!

As a basketball player one of my biggest problems wasn't skill but it was rather fear. Mind Gym has help me with the mental part of my game and gives you the feeling that you can take on anyone. This book will make you a better athlete but most importantly a better person in life.

Actually, the book was recommended by one of my former athletes, a state champion. I read hers and purchased one of my own to use for athlete motivation so I could flag and highlight in it. I bought the most recent copy to pass along to one of my current athletes who has found it very helpful; four state medals in two years. She is sharing it with one of her teammates and friends.

I shared the title and some excerpts at a coaches' clinic at which I was presenting and got good feedback from those coaches who also purchased it to use in their programs.

Makes a good reminder and reinforcer of ideas/memtal thoughts that I already knew. For someone who is wanting to use the mind for better athletic performance, it is a good starter and is is an enjoyable read.

This book is increadable! I have read it three times already and I cannot believe the impact that it has had! It has made me a monumentally better athlete as well as helping me as a person! I suggest that everyone should read this book if they want to take their skills to the next level!

My daughter loved this book. It has really helped her focus on her skills and not the what if's that sometimes come during competition. I have started to read it as well and think it is very good. Easy to read - recommend to all, not just athletes.

This book is excellent for all athletes looking to improve their mental game. Sent our daughter off to college with this book to help with her college sports career. Great book to pick up right before a game and read a quote put of!
