This book was amazing with a twist that changed your whole vie of the characters. Eric is not given enough due diligence, his books are a non stop read that gets better and better. I will be looking out for a sequel.

This book captured my attention from page one. The story was phenomenal. I always enjoy the back story of the characters. The development of the characters is what EJD does best. This took me on a ride that I didn't want to end. IT'S A MUST READ!!!!

I have never read an Eric Jerome Dickey book that I did not like, until now. The Accidental Affair started off somewhat slow, but he has written other books that way so I thought it would get better. However, as I am now approaching the end of the book I have to say that this was the worse book he has ever written. If I didn't know better I would think that someone else penned the book under his name. Maybe it was the subject matter. As another reviewer wrote, no one cares about the inner workings of Hollywood.
The characters lacked substance. There was a very noticeable difference to his writing style. It seemed that he wanted the characters to be somewhat ambiguous. Not that it matters, but it was difficult to tell the nationalities of the characters. He often describes himself as a man without a home. This book seemed to imply that he wanted to touch a different audience perhaps the audiences of all the countries that he has visited.
Please go back to what you know. As the saying goes if it's not broke, don't fix it. There was nothing wrong with your pervious style of writings so why the change. I find that I have to force myself to finish this book. The book seem to go on forever, but the content was basically about nothing. The whole book was pretty unbelievable.
It seemed like he had to satisfy a contractual obiligation so he just wrote something. The content and character did not seem to be throughly complete. Definitely not his best work!!

EJD is quite possibly a literary genius. He has a special way with words that really make you think while reading, read and re-read sentences 3 or 4 times over because they are just that astounding. This story was a powerful page turner. From the very first page he brought you into James Thicke's world; and what a crazy world it was. James Thicke, or part time "Varg Veum" was the most diabolically sane hero that I have read. He was really flying by the seat of his pants, but was secretly calculating in all of his actions. The things that were happening to him just made you say wow, and the things that he did to others were just explosive. Even though he was a mastermind, he was also a very passionate and pleasing man, and please he did over and over to the women in his life. Regina Baptiste, also a complex character. I don't know if I ever fully figured her out, but her actions that led to the total chaos in this book was literally straight from a movie. She just seemed like such a lost soul, that needed James Thicke for validation.
Overall this book was just absolutely superb. The level of writing is superior. I have been a fan of EJD since I borrowed Sister, Sister from the public library at the age of 17, and now 13yrs later he just never ceases to amaze me. His writing style has totally evolved from then, and he is just catapulted himself to another level. The break between this book and Tempted by Trouble was too long, so please don't keep us waiting so long for your next masterpiece.
P.S. Bring Gideon back soon...I miss him!

Now, I must first say this. This book was better than that garbage called Geneivie and much better than the Gideon fiasco. The book started with promise but then it took a wrong turn and never find the right direction. Where is that author who wrote Milk in My Coffee, Friends and Lovers; and Sister, Sister. I have told myself that I can never buy another Walter Mosley book because I feel his books are not what they use to be. Now, I may have to put Eric Dick in that same category.

Excellent condition and very good price. I love this author, and although I haven't completed this book I would strongly recommend it. I am on chapter 19 and I have suggested this one to my book club. It's good!

Always love EJD books and this one just knocked me over. I couldn't stop reading this one. I took James with me to work, lunch...everywhere. The ending had me in stitches...it was funny, sad, crazy and just downright off the chains. Hats off on another winner.

I chose a 4 star rating for minor grammatical errors. I love, love, love Eric Jerome Dickey. My husband got me reading this author's books and I prefer books by this author over any other. I have missed 3 titles but, I am catching up on my reading. I would recommend this author to any and everybody. In fact, I loaned out 2 of my books while deployed in Iraq. I never got those books back and they have circulated that country. Great job EJD!
