This is a five star motivating book! I was impressed with the writing and the skill the author offered to anyone needing a little extra push or a heavy duty push to get moving, face your fears and begin to do what you enjoy and what needs to be done!
I have a notebook full of tips and inspiration on taking that first step and continuing to create the rich and fulfilling life you deserve. Great book and a keeper to refer to throughout your life!

This book has some great ideas and techniques. It is standard self-help fare which basically means that it is armchair psychology. If you are so downtrodden to really need this book to change your life then likely self-help is not the thing for you. Professional-help is more apropos. If you are a highly functioning adult with quirks in how you approach the world you will still find a few nuggets of interest here, but likely a lot of it will seem a bit silly.

This is not to say the effort was bad. The book in and of itself is quite adept at explaining the nature of fear, the value of positive thought, as well as pointing out things that you may not be wholly aware of in how you interact with the world. Some things may appear obvious, but it is always good to be reminded of the behaviors that are detrimental.

Why I am not able to give rave reviews about this book is that the techniques are very plain and somewhat cumbersome. People in the self-help genre are notorious for trying to give the people what they want. Simple answers to complex problems. I think the techniques in this tome are simple yet much too cumbersome to maintain for a long period of time. I think people would be better served by having one technique to try for a while and alternatives to try if that one fails. This book has a slew of techniques for each situation and the reader is led to believe that all of them should be used at all times.

I read half the book and cannot find the motivation to continue. I have been having a lot of challenges at work that have caused fear which is preventing me from being myself. I thought this book would inspire me to really go out there and create positive energy inside of me. The 3 stars is because the book is not bad, it does have good insight. But it is not very action-oriented. A solution to becoming more positive is listening to inspirational CDs everyday, namely, Susan's other CDs. I did find that very inspiring. Also, Susan gives a lot of examples of people who have learned to handle fear and ones who have not, but again she doesn't say "how" other than listening to positive CDs and writing positive quotes everywhere. I found her choice of positive quotes lacking in inspiration.

I guess I was expecting more. When I read "Being Happy" a few years back, it made a big difference and I really felt like I needed to get out of my old patterns NOW. Susan's book lacked that inspiration and humor. I will try to finish the book, but overall it left much to be desired in terms of inducing action.
The life-changing self help book that's empowering people around the world to live an extraordinary life :: Flow: The Psychology of Happiness :: Feel the Fear . . . and Do It Anyway :: THE WISDOM OF INSECURITY A Message for an Age of Anxiety :: History of Tom Jones, a Foundling

I agree with the ideas that Jeffers puts forth in this book, but I just couldn't get through the vocabulary she uses. It's way too feely. I know it's a self help book, but it got to the point where I just couldn't take her seriously any more. It just got too ridiculous.

The author's credentials led me to buy this book. I was misled! It turned out to be mostly the 'usual tricks' found in such DIY self help books. There are the usual promises in the beginning and the space filling anecdotes. There is the inane advise of proceeding to perform some action whilst reading, the author apparently convinced that the reader is an idiot of some sort who would. There is the usual name dropping of other authors who write such books.
The title is attention grabbing and the initial few chapters are good. Then, there is a steep decline. A reader will be no worse for the wear for passing it.

After being "stuck" in an abusive relationship for years, reading this book gave me the courage to finally walk away. So I bought a copy for a friend and she also left behind her disruptive relationship. For me "feel the fear and do it anyway" marks a huge turning point in my life :)

LOVE THIS BOOK! I pull it out periodically and read it again - especially when going through difficult times or feel like I need a little "attitude readjustment" and/or "recharge" in my thinking and how I live my life.

Absolutely loved the idea of matrix in your life- always remember that your life is full, not just one thing that might disappear one day, but instead it's abundant with blessings, opportunities and paths that will lead to miracles:)

This book has been a tremendous help to me. With a troubled marriage and losing a job that made me feel good about myself, I thought I was sick and going crazy. I learned that I'm not alone nor am I crazy. Thank you for writing this book.

Before buying this book here, I had already read it. Not everyone is alike, so I'm sure not everyone will like it. So, that's why I recommend to borrow it from your library and see if it's good for you. However, I would say, that for me it will be kind of a bible from now on. That's why I purchased. It has many good advises, which I think will benefit anybody. Be positive, and repeat, and repeat positive affirmations to yourself. That's the recommendation a got from this little book. It takes time, but it works. It certainly did for me! good luck to you too. You deserve much better out of your own life, but remember, you are the manager of your own life, don't expect nothing or anybody to improve it for you. I even subscribe to the author's site.

The author gives practical guidance on how fear works in your life. She uses her own life experiences to help others that are just beginning on the path to wellness. The book is easy to read and understand. I love the exercises in the book they brought a deeper level of understanding to the theory. This book is real and very helpful if you are struggling with anxiety.

My life has changed dramatically since my reading this book. I considered myself "negative Nancy" before reading it. My negativity was definitely coming from a place of fear. But what I didn't realize was that my negativity and fear acted as blinders. I wasn't seeing all the doors and opportunities that were around me because I was so crippled by the fear/negativity...completely closed off. This book has helped me build a regimen (and that's exactly what is required for life-long learned behavior) that is allowing me to slowly, but surely, respond differently to anything that happens in my life. I read a little every day, I've got a daily 20 minute regimen based on Susan's teachings(self affirmations, exercises in responding to everyday life, and ways to look at challenges that help you "respond" vs "react,) and I've found myself handling everything that comes my way with grace and with a new found understanding that I choose how to respond in life. I just bought the book for my mom (I was a chip off the ol' block in terms of outlook on life) and I'm already seeing a change in her. I highly recommend this book for anyone and everyone... YES, everyone...from the most successful to those paralyzed by fear and negativity. Don't wait another second!
