I've read this book several times. This purchase was for a gift. Very thought provoking story of a group of townspeople who pledge to make no decisions for a year without asking "what would Jesus do in this situation."

What a wonderful multi-purpose book!!! On the one hand, it is a Christian classic, inspiring and story-telling and teaching at the same time. On the other hand, it is also just a great read, a real story covering people who will matter to you, over a period of years. Also, it's a love story, a business story, and a mystery! It offers everything a contemporary Christian might want in a book for pleasure. I only hope they keep reprinting it, because it was actually written in 1929! Enjoy it!!!!

I wondered where the question "What would Jesus do?" originated - and found this book in this search. I had always rejected the WWJD merchandizing campaign - while the question itself is something we all should ask ourselves. Good easy read - was perfect for a long plane ride.

This is the book that started the whole WWJD craze of the late 1990's. After asking "What would Jesus do?" before every decision, the members of Henry Maxwell's church realized how far from true Christian living they were, which called for major changes in their lifestyles. Today, the WWJD movement is strongly criticized by some Church people, often citing reasons similar to the opponents of the movement depicted in the novel itself. Hmm...sounds like the novel had some prophetic quality.

I highly recommend this book in its original form. There's no need in butchering the story as is done by the modern retelling that was more recently published.

This is the classic/original version of this story. Although it does not use modern language or have modern references, it is not difficult to read or is it difficult to relate to the characters. It is the story that inspired WWJD and I feel it is still inspirational today.

My wish would be for every Christian to read this book.a few years ago you could buy a bracelet with the letters WWJD on them but were fashionable for only a short time. This book truly explains what it would mean to live daily with the question to each circumstance being "what would Jesus do". A must read for each child of God.

In His Steps has probably had more influence on my walk with Christ than any other book except the Bible. In His Steps makes you ask yourself a question before you act. It is a wonderful book and I would recommend to everyone who wishes to grow in their Christian life.

This book has been "carefully edited and updated for modern readers". It has 24 chapters rather than the 31 chapters of other publishers. The publisher's decision to edit the original text should have been clearly stated on the cover of the book and in its advertisement on the store.

This book should be a classic in Christian literature. Although just a novel and written over a century ago, it aptly describes the state of Christendom even today. It gives one pause as to the state of one's own commitment to the cause of Christ in the world today.
Although I admittedly fail to live up to my own ideals of being a "good Christian" this book inspired me to at least try to do what Jesus would do. I highly recommend it to anyone who is contemplating going into the mission field as we tend to think of missions as being in some other country or far away places. But as the book so aptly describes it the mission field is as far as our next door neighbor or even the "wrong side of the tracks". And for the purchase price of $0.00 in Kindle it was a great value and bargin!

Love this book, would recommend it to every Christian. Concerns a whole town that was transformed by one incident in a church.
Just by asking your self,"what would Jesus do" when making a decision.

A TREMENDOUS CHALLENGE IN ANY AGE TO ALL WHO CALL ON THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST SECOND ONLY TO WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY SON THE CHRIST OF GOD. COMPARED TO FOLLOWING HIM WHAT IN THIS WORLD IS MORE IMPORTANT?!

An inspirational book. One that causes one to think and look at ones own life to determine if we are truly living as God would have us live. How much sacrifice do we make or am I content to live and give only what would be seen as convenient. This process is truly a test of the degree of trust that we have in God, to be willing to give up our man made security blankets and be
willing to live as he would, totally committed to the care, concern and service of others

The verbiage is, at times, a bit hard to navigate. It's set in an earlier time, so I get it but occasionally it's a tad hard to follow. It's a good story, the characters are sharp, the women are heroines, movers, know what they want, that's refreshing for a story set in that era. Very enjoyable read!

This book caused me to examine my walk with Jesus. I wonder what my life would really be like if I asked what would Jesus do in every situation. Very inspiring! Not just a read for me but a challenge.
