Especially in 2016, it's important that the production of a book is respected. So, the the book was we received had the cover at the back as the book was pages were printed upside down. I think I'll make my own book, correctly.

Dad's Playbook isn't just for Dads. It is a "must read" for all managers, especially those that manage in a blue-collar environment. All too often it is the lack of "positive coaching" that causes disdain and diminished productivity in our workforce. I am an HR Manager, raised by a father that mentored and motivated me all of my life......I don't get football (and don't really care to) but I get Tom Limbert's message. Tom, I hope that you sell millions of books and that every person that buys or receives Dad's Playbook, reads it and learns from it. Surely, the world would be a better place.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is a 'sports' book - you don't have to be an athlete to benefit from Dad's Playbook. At its core, this is a book about parenting, and through the clever device of coaches quotes it conveys clear and inspiring messages about approaching fatherhood. The coaches quotes and pictures of famous athletes and coaches will draw in and engage many fathers who might otherwise be turned off by a "parenting" book, but the simple message of striving to do your best, focusing on fundamentals, and finding areas where you can improve will keep you turning the pages (well, that and wanting to read all the quotes!). The book is broken into chapters that address different aspects of parenting and with simple guidelines, no preaching or talking down, common sense - and humor! - the book gets you thinking about your own approach to parenthood and ways you could improve. As a father of three young kids I was really impressed by Dad's Playbook - like a good coach it inspires you to do your best.

I have to admit that I am not a big fan of reading. Truth be told prior to Dad's Playbook I hadn't picked up a book in some time. This was suggested by a friend and since I am big fan of quotations and sports I thought I would give it a try. Flat out this is an easy to read, fun, inspirational book that I find not only useful in my most difficult job as a father but it also provides general common sense lessons on how to teach, influence and engage people of any age and in any situation be it personal or professional in nature. I would suggest this to any parent and anyone who needs to manage people in any way. It is a book that you and your family will cherish for generations and you will continue to consult for advice. The most successful coaches have the skill to influence their teams in a positive way to be the best they can be. Tom Limbert has provided a glimpse into the psyche of these sports legends and in turn provides us with a playbook on how we can manage and influence in a positive way as well. I highly recommend Dad's Playbook!

I brought this home and placed it on the coffee table like I do with all the books I buy. To my surprise my husband picked it up (without an invitation from me) and began to read it aloud. Before I knew it, I was sucked in, as well as our son! Listening to my husband read it to us was amazing. My husband then made this a routine for the next few days until he finished reading it. He loved the message the book sends out to dads. And being such a busy family, I loved the 3 days in a row of family time! It is an easy, yet inspirational read! I recommend it for all audiences. And oh, did I say I enjoyed the forward by Steve Young? He is known to be an incredible father and husband.

This is an excellent book full of inspirational passages as well as witty quotes from famous athletes and coaches. It is full of wisdom with an entertaining twist.
The author hits many highlights, each chapter covering key points that we need to teach our children....things that will be with them forever.

"You decide what kind of values to instill, which goals to set, and how to go about reaching those goals. You have a tremendous impact on your family.
Through your example, every day you show your children how to treat each other, how to handle adversity. and how to get things done." Limbert writes.

I highly recommend Dad's Playbook to everyone..moms and dads alike. It will make the perfect fathers day gift this year to the special dad's in my life.
My husband and father will love all the quotes - and the passage from Steve Young (as well as the mentoring the book provides of course.)

Get this book, you'll be glad you did.

As a maternal child nurse for over 25 years, I have read a wide variety of books for dads. Many of them talk down to dads and others tend to lose the dad's interest early on. But I found "Dad's Playbook" to be refreshing and spot on- full of relevant, practical parenting advice for dads as well as fun and interesting quotes and photos for sports lovers and non-sports fans as well. I highly recommend this book to both expectant and experienced dads. It's full of wisdom and valuable life lessons!

This is a great book for new fathers, parents and teachers of all sorts.
Tom does a stellar job using classic quotes from " all time greats" in the world of sports to emphasize positive motivation techniques and good common sense in how to encourage children and adults in a variety of settings. Whether its in sports , school or just daily life Tom Limbert has sound advice for staying postive , limit setting and having mutual respect for one another. As a father to a ever challenging 3 year old and basketball coach, Toms book has provided me with great advice for controlling my emotion in a positve way which has translated to postive performances from my players and a more enjoyable interaction with my son. Thanks Tom!!

Great advice for dads, especially the sports fans. Good books are a combination of insights and good communication style. Limbert has managed to do both in a way that will be appealing and fun to dads everywhere (and probably some moms too!)

This book is fantastic, easy to relate to, and so relevant for fathers. As a father myself, it really makes me consider how I treat my son, what expectations I have, how I communicate those, and how I react to his mistakes. As a former basketball coach, I have to consider how I treated my players and make sure I'm showing at least that much encouragement and respect to my own children.

As others have already stated, you don't need to be a sports fan to enjoy this book - I even sent it to my mother who has already raised three children and isn't a sports fan and she loved it. Beyond the inspirational quotes, the author provides some really fundamental advice on parenting that we sometimes lose sight of in the day to day tasks of child rearing. Reminders of our responsibilities as parents and maintaining a positive perspective as we coach our children through life. Great concept! Keep it in the bathroom, keep it by the bedside!

I coach girl's lacrosse and field hockey, and would love to read a similar book that included quotes from the many women coaches & players in college and professional sports. I'll buy the Dad's book because the quotes can be applied to any sport, but would have liked to see names I recognize, like Beth Anders, Beth Bozman, Cindy Timchal, Kelly-Amonte Hiller, and Abby Wambach.

As a sports fan and father, I can think of no better way to receive a daily dose of entertainment and inspiration. Dad's Playbook will take you down memory lane with quotes from all time greats as well as coaches who are still competing for championships. Limbert's experience and expertise as a parent coach comes through, making the quotes even more memorable and meaningful. A book any sports dad in your life will enjoy!

I am so glad I read this book in time to send it to some of my good friends for Fathers Day. The book combines solid parenting advice and it relates it to quotes from the greatest coaches of all time. I really liked the layout and photos as well. It is a perfect book for dad sports fans but really applicable for everybody. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Thanks for coming up with the idea.

This book is great. I love the photos and the quotes and I'm not a dad, or a sports fan per se... but, the best part for me is the written advice. It often makes me laugh and I feel like its right on.
