Loved the series and enjoyed this follow-up book for additional information on some of the characters. Looking forward to another book soon, I hope. Make sure you read the three books before this one.

Love this book series...can't wait for The Rise of Nine. I also liked the way of placing an order...I didn't have to wait long for the book to arrive...I preodered the book and it arrived the day it was released. No wait what so ever.

I can see how a teen hero would make bad decisions and end up running for his life every time something goes wrong but this book is just lame. I'd still read the series to the end (even though it is a waste of my time) because I just can't NOT finish something I started and of course I do want to know how this is gonna end.

The only novella in the series that focuses on the Mogadorian side of the series. There are three different perspectives in the novel, two true born Mogadorians, and one vat-born one. By doing this, fans of the series get a chance to see deeper into the mindset of the Mogadorians, how they think and how they regard this invasion, this war effort. It gives the overall story another layer and showcases some of the villains who were merely mentioned in the novel.

The first part of the novel follows Phiri Dun-Ra, a high-ranking Mogadorian female warrior who has had many encounters with the Loriens. And yet, the reader knows nothing about her. Much of the time, Mogadorians are alluded to as robots, unthinking and brainwashed by their society and their leader. And yet there so much more to it than that. Here the reader gets to truly meet the ruthless female warrior. Now, while the story doesn’t add much, it does give a little insight and backstory into what was going on with the Mogadorians, With Setrákus Ra, and his defeat at the hands of the Loriens at the Sanctuary and how this deeply affected the Mogadorians. It also sets the stage for how Phiri Dun-Ra ended up getting her Lorien abilities.

Again, it doesn’t add a whole lot to the story, but it does give insight into everything happening behind the scenes. Now while, the first story adds, the second story, following a vat-born, doesn’t add anything. It shows the reader the new generation and their first encounter with the Mogadorians before they enter United as One and take over the story in Generation One. But it’s such a minor thing, it wasn’t essential.

Now, the third and final perspective is where more time should have been devoted. It follows Rex, who readers will know as the Mogadorian friend of Adam. The same friend who helped Adam save the Chimæra, the allies of the Lorien, the Mogadorian enemies. Rex is such an interesting character because while he is devoted to the war effort, the only truth he has ever known, doubt shadows his actions because of his friendship with Adam. It’s an interesting perspective because his doubt shadows his narrative. It’s an intriguing perspective and he’s such an interesting character is a shame that more time wasn’t devoted to his idealism, his doubt, and his growth. It’s possibly the best part of this novel and it’s shame it was at the end and yet it was the perfect way to end of the Lost Files series. In the end, it was thoughtful and following these three villains around gave a great view of the war. (★★★☆☆ | B-)

Oh, how I wish lists still existed on the store. It was the only way to keep track of long series and I am a series reader of five genres. This book should be read after the first book, I Am Number Four. The first book starts slowly. However, the short novellas in this book really help you fill in the gaps from the first book. I have started reading all of the lost files in between each installment in the series. I gave this one five stars. Engaging is the best way to describe this set of short stories.

For the first time ever, we finally get behind the scenes to how some of these characters began and how they survived during their years on the run! We finally learn what truly happened to these characters and what it took to survive against the Mogadorians! You will be reading each story until the very end, begging for more!

I love the main series! "I Am Number Four", "The Power of Six", and "The Rise of Nine", are the best book series ever created! Each one is freaking amazing and each one needs its own movie out in theaters right now! The characters are very interesting and (sometimes) badass as well! Take Number Six and Nine for example! We even have Sam, who has proven to be one heck of a fighter and loyal friend. And there is John (aka Number Four), who has a heart and the skills to survive. But lets not forget about the excitement of the storylines that come with it as well.

But just like other series, there are still gaps that have questions and even a huge series can't always tell us everything. That is why "The Lost Files" are here to help us know just what happened. They act as origin stories for three heroes, one of which we didn't even see coming. But when you get behind the story of Six and Nine, you can't help but just read through it. Even the new character, Adamus Sutekh, is very interesting and become lovable when you warm up to him. This is the best way to experience what happened to these characters and how they survived.

First off, we have Number Six, who we are very familiar with in the main series. When we first met her in the first book, she is a badass and a warrior, but when we read her origins story, we see a whole new Six. She is gentle, nice, and innocent. Living with Katarina as they travel all over America. We see her train and even go through pretty hard times, one of which sets her down a road that will lead directly to the events of "I Am Number Four".

Secondly, we have Number Nine, who we see is a bit the same in from where we met him in the second book. Living in Chicago with Sandor, we see Nine not only train and do crazy things, but we also see him become charmed by love as well (or at least we think so). We even get to see crazy new technology from Sandor (who we will learn about in "The Last Days of Lorien" later on). It is filled with suspense and action-packed moments, along with some romance as well. We even get to see this story lead into the ending of "The Power of Six" as well.

And finally, we meet a new and unexpected character named Adamus Sutekh, who is a Mogadorien. At first, Adamus is just like every other Mogadorian. A selfish, bloodthirsty Mog who wishes to become like his father. But not only are we introduced to the new character, but we also get to see how the first three of the Garde die from his own perspective. We even get to meet Number One (in spiritual form) and also the other two as well. But the greatest moments are when Adamus begins to realize just how wrong his race is and ends up switching sides with the Garde. Not only that, but we get to see how Numbers One, Two, and Three really die and how Adam played a role in them. Trust me, you will like this new character that has been added to the universe of the "Lorien Legacies"!

Now, the question for most of you is this, is it worth buying? Yes, it is! But only if you are a fan of the series and are very interested. If not, well, it may not be worth your money. But I can guarantee that if you are a fan of the series, then you will love reading this!

Pittacus Lore delivers a compelling story of war in a battle for survival in three action-packed novellas with bone-chilling stories of your favorite Loriens in one volume. The story continues in this adventure filled with fantasy, excitement, and intense suspense. A brutal battle to save the world begins against the evil Mogadorians as they threaten to Rule the world. After heartbreak, violence, and vengeance, who will win? Despair and hatred continues with chaos and destruction, but the battle has not yet ended. Suffering and loss make the Loriens more determined to succeed, but do they have the strength? Thrilling from beginning to end with edge-of-your-seat suspense to find out who will survive, and who will be the Superior. Entertaining throughout, and Highly Recommended!

Conflicted on how to rate this. Love the world of this series, but it is becoming too commercialized. Meaning it was a straightforward story that provided only filler information that wasn't in previous books. It just rehashed scenes already seen in other books and filled in a few blank spots in Lexa's timeline. The writing was very medicore. The one scene where she gets the sh** was what I wanted to read, but it was superficially glossed over and poorly written. Left a bad aftertaste of what we've known for awhile, since the author split this author is just exploiting commercialism to make money on mediocre books that are set in past giving only filler information. The one scene that would have made this book worth buying (NOT for $3.99) was badly written and should have been longer. This book only reminds you of the series so ou want to read the next book Fate of Ten now. It does not tell an entertaining story that furthers the plot. 3.5/5*

Where do I start? well, let's start from the beginning:

Six's Legacy is not only the worst of the three in this bundle, but the worst of all the lost files novellas. Right down to the fact that the only interesting parts are ALREADY SUMMARIZED IN GREAT DETAIL IN BOOK 2! Therefore, the entire book is not necessary. And the story isn't very uplifting, or even that good. Only good thing is, and I can expect this from all the series, is the novella being well written.

Six's Legacy gets a 6/10 (haha)

Nine's Legacy is.... OK. I like the writing, characters, and storytelling, and I liked learning about Nine's past, even though I an not Nine's biggest fan.
But JESUS! this novella is WAY TOO DEPRESSING! It doesn't know when to stop!

Nine's Legacy gets a 7/10

Fallen Legacies is a drastic improvement. It to me is the very best of all the lost files Novellas. It's got a great story, the way Adamus decides to defect his own people is done in a way that's really clever. And it gave us everything we needed to know about the first three Garde, and executed their deaths really well.

Fallen Legacies gets a 9.5/10 (I'd give I am Number Four and The Power of Six the same rating. It's that good!)

Pittacus Lore's "I Am Number Four" series of books across the past few years has introduced us to the 9 (10) individuals from Lorien who have come to Earth & are fighting the Mogdorians to prevent them from conquering Earth. They are each identified simply in order by number & can only be killed in that fashion. In Lore's "The Legacies", he tells the tales of how Six & Nine got their powers & how they came into being once they learned them & also in the Fallen Legacies tells the stories of the first 3 & also gives us background on who the Mogdorians really are & what they are capable of. Each short story lives up the hype & pace of the previous 3 installments in the series & also fills in some much needed details in how the Legacies themselves found each other. Overall a very well written collection of short stories with promise for the continued success of this series.

*Caution! Minor spoilers ahead!*

The confusingly-titled I AM NUMBER FOUR: THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES is actually a collection of three novellas previously released in ebook format: SIX'S LEGACY (July 2011), NINE'S LEGACY (February 2012), and THE FALLEN LEGACIES (July 2012). A fourth novella, THE SEARCH FOR SAM, is scheduled for a December 2012 release. The materials in THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES were published after Book #2 (THE POWER OF SIX) but before Book #3 (THE RISE OF NINE) in the Lorien Legacies series - just to give you an idea of the story's timeline.

That said, you can either read THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES in order of its publication, or after finishing Book #3 - there's nothing in the former that will impact the reader's understanding of the latter. In fact, I saved THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES for last, and ultimately prefer it this way. Some of the stories in THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES altered my perceptions of certain characters - characters that weren't fully fleshed out until Book #3.

Narrated by Number Six, "Six's Legacy" paints a more detailed picture of Six's history than we were given in previous books - but not by much. We learn a little bit more about her childhood, as well as her relationship with her Cêpan, Katarina, and their capture and imprisonment in a Mogadorian mountain cave in West Virginia. Whereas I would've liked to be a party to Katarina's stories of life on Lorien, the author doesn't revisit these quieter scenes, instead focusing on conflicts and near-misses. Coming in at a mere 91 pages, I can't say that I walked away with a greater understanding of Six as a person.

As with "Six's Legacy," Nine serves as the narrator of his own novella, "Nine's Legacy." When I mentioned that this anthology is best read last because it may change how you view certain (previously unsympathetic) characters, I was referring primarily to Nine. Though he appears cocky, reckless, and self-absorbed in THE POWER OF SIX and THE RISE OF NINE, Nine starts off as a rather likable guy - teenage male bravado aside. It's only after a friend's betrayal leads to his capture and the murder of his Cêpan that Nine develops a thick shell of indifference and an unquenchable, unyielding desire for revenge.

"The Fallen Legacies" is perhaps the most interesting of the three. Unlike the other novellas, this story isn't told by a member of the Garde (namely, Numbers One, Two, and/or Three - the "fallen legacies" alluded to in the title), but by a young Mogadorian. As the son of a high-ranking Mogadorian General, Adamus "Adam" Sutekh is expected to follow in his father's footsteps: become an obedient, unquestioning soldier for the cause and, one day, a Mog ruler on Earth. Hiding in plain sight in a Mogadorian enclave on Earth (read: an exclusive gated community outside of Washington, DC), he's a witness to the deaths of One, Two, and Three, with varying degrees of involvement. In many ways, these events are milestones in Adam's life, markers on his road to adulthood.

Just eight years old during the "First Great Expansion" (i.e., the genocide of the Loric people), Adam is slightly older than the members of the Garde - children who he is at times expected to kill in cold blood. Indoctrinated by his people from birth, Adam is a fervent believer in the Mogadorian "cause" - that is, until an illicit experiment (sanctioned by his own father) gives him access to One's memories. In her mind Adam wanders for three years, with One acting as his sometimes-escort. Adam awakes only to find that One has taken up residence in his own noggin; she quickly becomes the proverbial angel on his shoulder. With her encouragement, Adam begins to question all he's been taught about Mogadorian supremacy and progress.

"The Fallen Legacies" is less about the murdered Legacies than one Mogadorian's struggle between right and wrong, between betraying one's conscience - or committing treason against one's family and people.

While it's not quite up to par with I AM NUMBER FOUR, THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES is still an improvement over books one and two in the series - which I found rather formulaic, sometimes boring, and overall a disappointment, given how much potential I saw in I AM NUMBER FOUR. Fun summer reads, but not much more.

Perhaps I'm just too old for this series, given that the recommended age is 14 and up. I'm 34 and counting - but it's worth noting that I adore other "young adult" series, such as THE HUNGER GAMES (marketed 12 and up!). Maybe mediocre writing is just that?

For example, a chief complaint is that, through three books and as many novellas, I still don't have a grasp of each Legacy as a unique and individualized character; their voices vary in only the most superficial of ways. Additionally, the mix of supernatural magic and speculative science (fiction) - which has become increasingly outlandish, with not the thinnest thread of explanations proffered - is seriously beginning to strain my credulity.

3.5 out of 5 stars - a fun adventure, but nothing groundbreaking.

As an aside, the environmentalist in me takes issue with the "preview" chapters included in THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES - including twelve pages of I AM NUMBER FOUR and twenty pages from THE POWER OF SIX. Since these books were published prior to THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES - and it's not likely that a reader will jump into the series starting with the novellas and not, say, a novel, if not the first novel, period - this is nothing but a pointless waste of paper and ink. Seriously, guys, preview upcoming books, not those already published! How many copies of the first chapter of THE POWER OF SIX do I need?

I've been enjoying this series since the beginning. Having just finished book three, Rise of Nine, I thought I'd check out this compilation of back stories. I can tell you that now, it's going to be much harder for me to wait for the next book. The three back stories in this book are well worth reading. I thought Six's back story was good, but much of it could be discerned from the series. Nine's back story was a real revelation and makes me like him even more. But the last back story was by far the best, or at least the most revealing. I hope more of Adam shows up in the next book, although right now, I can't imagine how that's going to go. Read the book to find out what I mean.

If you're a fan of the series, you need... NEED! to read this too.

I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies is an omnibus containing the 3 novellas in the series so far (Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies). I really was excited when they released this omnibus because I didn't want to shell out $3.99 for each novella. The Legacies is an excellent companion to the Lorien Legacies because it helped me understand Number Six, Number Nine and Mogadorians better.

For those of you who haven't read I Am Number Four or seen the awesome movie with Alex Pettyfer, I'll give you a bit of info. A planet called Lorien was destroyed by an evil species of aliens called Mogadorians (Mogs) and Lorien's few survivors have fled to Earth. The survivors of Lorien have powers called legacies and are called Garde. A charm was cast so that the Garde could only be killed in order as long as they stay apart. That was enough info dumping for one review!

Six's Legacy was an interesting novella because Six is one of my favorite characters in the series. We find out alot more about who Six is and how her past affected her. Six is just of one of those characters that is so kick ass that you can't help but like her. Six's Legacy was a really intense and action packed novella that I really enjoyed. It was really interesting to see how different Six's personality was in Six's Legacy compared to in I Am Number Four. Six's Legacy made me realize why I love Number Six so much and I really hope she is a major part of book 4.
Nine's Legacy was as action-packed and emotional as Six's Legacy. I didn't enjoy Nine's Legacy as much as Six's Legacy because frankly Six is a more interesting protagonist. Nine's back story was an intense story that told of Nine's journey before Rise of Nine and it was a pretty remarkable story. I really didn't like Maddy at all and I couldn't feel sorry for her no matter what. Nine wasn't as cold and arrogant in this novella like he was in Rise of Nine and I definitely liked #9 in this novella.
The Fallen Legacies is definitely the most thought-provoking of all 3 novellas. The Fallen Legacies is told from the point of view of a young Mogadorian. Our protagonist of The Fallen Legacies is a young Mogadorian who starts to question everything he has been taught. This novella was my favorite of the three because it was very diverse from the other novels and we were introduced to Numbers 1, 2, and 3. #1 was definitely a fascinating character and I hope somehow she makes an appearance in future novels.

As a whole, The Legacies was a very entertaining and informative read. I really enjoyed how we learned of Six and Nine's backstory which helped the reader understand both characters better. As I expected Lore wrote 3 fast paced novellas that really were engaging. If you have read any of the books in the Lorien Legacies series I recommend you pick up this omnibus. If you haven't read I Am Number Four I suggest that you read it!

Novellas work well for fans of the characters in a series, and that is certainly the case with The Legacies, a compilation of novellas from the Lorien Legacies. Three novellas are included – Six’s Legacy, Nine’s Legacy & The Fallen Legacies.

Six’s Legacy delves into Six’s history, complete with an ending that broke my heart. Nine’s Legacy introduces Nine’s past as well, explaining Nine’s hard exterior and strong attitude.

But my favorite novella is The Fallen Legacies, simply because we get to meet One, Two and Three and hear their stories. It was written very uniquely, with an unexpected narrator. It was interesting to learn about each one of them.

If you’re a fan of the Lorien Legacies, then checking out these novellas is certainly a must. You’ll gain further insight into some of the main characters in the series, as well as learn more about Lorien and their enemy.

Pittacus Lore first introduced the world to the Lorien legacies in I AM NUMBER FOUR, and the battle to save the world began. Number four and number six decided to work together and fight back against the evil Mogadorians, the alien race who threaten to take over the earth. Now, as the remaining Loriens attempt to find each other and provide a united front, the pieces to their mysterious existence and presence on earth are slowly falling into place. A few questions remain, however, and THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES tells the missing stories of six, nine, and those who have already perished.

If you recall, six ultimately decided to seek out number four to help fight back, but that decision wasn't arrived at hastily. Instead, six's legacy reveals hardship and despair. After years on the run, six and her cepan (or guardian) Katrina are captured by the Mogadorians. Not knowing what number six is in the order, the Mogadorians are susceptible to the Lorien charm that protects each number from being killed out of turn. Attempts to hurt six backfire, so they decide to torture and kill Katrina instead. Confronted with heartbreak and despair, six is driven by the only thing left --- vengeance.

Unlike other Loriens who are constantly on the run, number nine and his cepan decide to hide in plain sight and for an extended period of time. While this provided some stability as nine waited for his legacies to develop, it also provided some frustration. This becomes increasingly apparent when nine starts becoming friendly with a local girl. The chance at a normal life, though, is soon swept aside after the Mogadorians attack. As nine is the last of the numbers, the Mogadorians can do nothing else but lock him away. That, however, won't stop him.

Finally, the book tells the stories of the first three fallen Loriens, but not from their point of view. Instead, readers get insight into the motivation of the Mogadorians as one of their up-and-coming fighters tells his story of meeting the first three. While there is a lot of violence, hatred and destruction of the Loriens, it's not what you would expect. The fallen legacies stories just might shed light on what's really at stake in this mysterious and underground war currently being waged on behalf of humanity.

THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES comes along at just the right time. Pittacus Lore has already shared two amazing books of survival and battle, and these three short stories fill in the missing gaps and answer some of your origin questions. It's easy to see why the Loriens are driven to protect the earth as all of them have already suffered heartbreak and loss at the hands of the Mogadorians. While you may get caught up on the history of the Loriens, Pittacus Lore also shows that the war is far from over. After reading the lost files, you'll realize that it's more important than ever that the Loriens succeed.

Read it for yourself to get the details. It's worth it. Having these mini stories helps pass the time waiting for a new book - which just arrived TODAY!

Just finished Guard and really enjoyed it. Got to see events I already knew about from a different perspective.

Gotta go. Gotta start Fate of Ten!

I always wish these books were longer, but their purpose is to tantalize you before the main story comes out. This book gives great background for several characters that I assume will be in the next volume. I almost felt sorry for #5 but of course he was a traitor so that lasted about a minute. I do enjoy this series of books but my main complaint is the use of swearing. I believe it is totally unnecessary, and since teens are the main readers of this series I don't believe this is setting a good example for them. A lot of them use these words in their everyday language and it never makes a person sound overly intelligent. It tends to be particularly bad at school and it is frowned upon in the professional workplace, so let's raise the standard when writing books for teen. Stephanie Meyer's books were wildly popular and she did not use four-letter words in any of her books, so I repeat : It is unnecessary!
