This zips along and is funny, funny in many sections (though some of the business sections get a little number heavy). Anybody standing in line to be picked for the next season of the Apprentice should dig into this. It's a fascinating take of The Donald and the writer obviously had lots of access to him and time with him. The chapter on the Apprentice is revealing and hilarious (why are we so swept up in this game?). Very interesting chapters on casinos, celebrity, real estate deals, and Trump's real background. I learned about how New York really works. Fascinating city. Every jet trip and car ride that Timothy O'Brien takes with Trump has a hilarious element to it. Fun ride, fun book, but an odd, odd man with an outrageous hairdo. The author describes it as a "bicycle helmet" hairdo. Hee hee!!! Great comedic touch.

Gives some insight to our President's mentality and his business ability. If people will give him the chance rather than trying to block his every idea, we may have a chance of pulling this country together and back to being great.

Wow. CNBC guys were carrying Trump's water today and the writer was on there. Faber, Kernan and Haynes were protecting NBC's "assets" (The Apprentice) in a super-biased way. Haynes said Trump had tons of real estate (NOT!) and Faber said Trump's marketing was super duper spiffy (why don't you marry him, David?). O'Brien offered intelligent, even-handed responses to the grilling. He also called Trump the Baby Huey of the business world!! Funny. He had facts and the CNBC team had thin air. Cool book -- TV guys can't read.

This will probably be remembered as the definitive Trump book. You'd never know that by the way the CNBC toadies tried to protect Donald on TV and goad the author. Who would have thought that the NY Post would be fairer than CNBC Squawk Box? Post article today by Keith Kelly was a treat!! Trump calls the Times writer a bad writer and then Trump misuses the word "infantile" in his own sentence -- priceless!!! Post quotes the Times guy on Trump's Mafia problems in the casino business and other new stuff. Really cool, informative book. I finished wanting more!!!!!!!!!!

Just finished this last night. Corinne Smith is a long-time Trump book reviewer on the store and I agree with her review below -- this is the definitive Trump book. It is clearly, entertainingly written and takes you "inside". Inside Trump is a weird place, but larger points are made: about New York, real estate, America's celebrity fix, media manipulation, and Trump's own zany personality. LOVED IT! Sounds like the CD has problems though -- may pass on that.

TrumpNation has gotten under Trump's skin -- maybe because a writer is finally showing Trump for what he is and doing it in a very funny, inventive way. The NY Post reports today about Trump's whining about the book's writer, a New York Times reporter. Trump is so off-balance and threatened he can only make personal attacks. He said TrumpNation is horribly written. Huh??? I don't know the writer but the book is divine and wonderfully written. Stop your sobbing Donald and act like a man!!! This is a classic case of an underdog journalist taking on an icon who thrives on lies. Fun in Manhattan!!

I agree, Kernun and Haynes were doing Trump's handiwork! Trump calls CNBC and chats with Kernun about their golf outings together all the time. He's covering for Trump! TrumpNation: thorough and fun to read (and balanced, unlike CNBCeedy). It's a great book, despite Squawk Box's attempt to undermine it for Trump. A reader's view: O'Brien wins this round, and he wins with guts. Buy the excellent book and make up your own mind.

The Donald is probably not amused buy this book, but I was!! This is biographical satire at its best -- and it pulls the covers off someone who has been faking it for too long. I liked the parts about Palm Beach and CEO celebrities very much and liked how O'Brien split apart every deal Trump has done and showed what a bad-- what a completely inept -- businessman he is. Perfect for a plane trip or a weekend.

Trump Lite. Or maybe the "real deal" on this guy. We New Yorkers know! Trump is all talk. This is a fascinating take on our local "mouth" and gets into many cool topics as they relate to him. Fun and involving. Best thing I've read this year -- the writer is tough on him, but in a very funny, even friendly sort of way.

After listening to this audiobook, I have to say it's definitely an interesting perspective on Donald Trump. Timothy O'Brien is definitely what you would call a "Negative Nancy"...he focuses on the failures of more than the accomplishments of Donald Trump. But hey, the evening news in every major city does too, as they love covering the latest murders, rapes & child kidnappings - as that negative stuff gets press & makes money. That in turn creates a distortion of reality...or a negative warped view on reality...which is what this book is. As I said, I think Timothy O'Brien is doing the same thing here...he wants to just talk primarily about the negative aspects of Donald's career. If he was more of an objective reporter, he would focus on the good and bad things. No, I'm not a die hard Trump fan, before you ask. But I have researched him quite indepthly & read many books on him, and this one is definitely one of the worst. But I'm sure some people will love it because the 'average joe' enjoys hearing negative things about successful people. So have fun reading the book or listening to the audiobook if you like such garbage.

Why is Trump "teaching" anyone about business or life? This book shows he's good at the celebrity game and bad at everything else -- a minor league player pretending he's in the majors. This is a fun, informative look behind-the-scenes. A writer finally got Trump right!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants: a lot of laughs, a thoroughly sketched portrait of Donald Trump as con artist, and some extremely interesting tours of the business world, Hollywood, Manhattan, and ego, ego, ego. Very well done, Mr. O'Brien.

Not knowing anything about The Donald I thought this would give me some insight....couldn't get through it however, since I have found him to be virtually despicable given his actions of late.... I just could not give over any of my time considering who he has proven to be since his run for office.

After reading (and thoroughly enjoying) Trump's own The Art of the Deal I went in search for more on the captivating man known as "The Donald." I leafed through the pages of TrumpNation and was excited to see a bit about Trump's personal life, so I bought it. Although the book was written by a professional writer, it was not as easy a read (i.e. entertaining) as The Art of the Deal. The author came across as full of himself as his claims of Trump being. I found it rather juvenile and boring that O'Brien often repeated phrases he obviously felt were clever throughout his book. On the whole, here was an author writing a book on a magical personality but completely failed to capture any of it. Instead, he overanalyzed the person behind the aura and seemed surprised to find, in fact, an actual person. Person or persona, O'Brien came off as envious of both. In my opinion, TrumpNation was a disservice to anyone that is a fan of Trump and therefore, the author should not be capitalizing off those who are. I will be returning my book for "spite."

Unfortunately, there is really nothing to gain or learn from this book. It appears that O'Brien is just capitalizing on Donald Trump's name and his "relationship" with him. I am as skeptical as any to Trump's claims, but O'Brien's portrayal is both a betrayal and a ridiculous attempt to capitalize on Trump. He deserves to lose any profit defending a Trump lawsuit.

Not a read for the ordinary working man. He borrowed great sums from the banks...and paid no taxes. BUT the book doesn`t explain how ordinary people could do it A poor read. It can only be appreciated by those who wheel and deal. Not for POOR treaders, , only wealthy ones

Nothing to learn or enjoy here and tedious. For example, we're supposed to be pearl clutching over Trump licensing his brand all over the world in building partnerships versus actually having his own crew constructing properties? It's still MONEY and control of the properties in the long run and he's still BUILDING.

For example, the old US Post Office building. A white elephant long neglected by the government that Donald Trump will bring back to it's original glory. Just like Wollman Rink.
