This book is essential to any artist interested in studying the principles of design as related to 2D compositions. It is an easy and entertaining read also. The concepts will inspire you to push every frame of a story to its greatest story-telling potential. I wish it was a bit longer, but that's just because I want to hear more of what he has to say.

I found this to be a very helpful and informative book on storyboarding and composition. I have been a professional artist for over 10 years, but only recently have I developed an interest in creating my own graphic novel. I ordered this book expecting to already know most of the information about composition, but I was delighted that it had more things directly related to sequential art than I had anticipated.

Very good book. Not a drawing book. There are other books that do that (you know, the ones that spend 1/10 of the book on materials and tools and then proceed to teach the "secrets" of drawing). This s about composition, telling a clear story, clear and simple. It's like a Jack Hamm book. No bs, just the facts, ma'am.

Really a great resource for an overall understanding of how visual graphics can and should be used to propel a storyline. Condensed nuggets of important concepts, illustrated superbly, diagrammed and written first person by the artist, so very helpful for artists wishing to grasp animation and graphic novel illustration.

Attempting my first graphic novel and this has been incredibly helpful. I'd recommend it highly. However if you don't have some drawing experience, it may be a bit advanced. It assumes you know the basics.

Marcos Mateu-Mestre and Walter Simonson used to ink the early works that I glorified from the late seventies through nineties.
This book gives us just a glimpse of Marcos' technique and style. It's alike reading a graphic novel on drawing and inking. There are
different things to learn from the varying chapters. I just keep bouncing back and forth from one to another.
If you've ever even thought of entering the world of comic production and inking, it's a must-have.

This books completely explains everything you need to know about drawing a story. Everything is explained very well and there are many visual examples. If you have to get just one book this would be it.

The author does an amazing job of explaining the principles he talks about with great illustrations and clear explanations. The way he breaks things down make it easier to think in clear and dynamic ways.
