I downloaded this today and have already read it, it moved so fast. Almost too fast, it was nonstop action from cover to cover. Personally I would have liked a bit more steady pacing but hey, that's the thriller genre for you. I hear from looking at the author's web site that he is writing more, and I will be sure to get them. If he writes a book this good to start with I am sure the next ones will be even better.

I would have liked to learn more about Mary Jordan the cop on this one, and seen Leopold in a bit more anguish, both emotional and physical. The emotional because he seemed a bit flat most of the time, and the physical because he gets the living dogs***e beat out of him the whole book but seems to keep coming back, but I didn't feel it in my bones, know what I mean?

Some parts poorly detailed but still enjoyed the ride. Figure should read in order to be able to continue to unravel the madness that the father has created. All not sure ever was a beginning since boo o e had Mary believing in him and has his back. As also Jerome plays more then bodyguard and how did they hook up. S o far so good with cliffhanger aplenty.

If you like fast past Patterson-like mysteries, then the Leopold Blake series is for you. This book kept me interested and intrigued for the couple hours it took me to read. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!
The World According to Humphrey :: Odd Billy Todd :: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide - The Walking Dead :: A Parent's Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse :: The Savannah Project (The Action-Packed Jake Pendleton Political Thriller series Book 1)

Stephenson does a fantastic job creating visually, stunning scenes to life. Not melodramatic but enough adjectives to make it real. I could imagine turning this into a movie with a Bruce Willis type of character.

The book is so fantastical and unbelievable that it was funny. But the worst part of the book are all the typos, making it difficult in some places to even read because you have to go back and forth to figure out what it was supposed to be. There are typos in all of the Kindle books, but this was by far the worst.

very enjoyable read. Leopold Blake is quite a brainiac & likeable character. Also the characters around him varied & interesting. Looking forward to reading more about him & his detecting adventures.

A laughably absurd novel, but I kind of enjoyed it. The protagonist's Sherlockian leaps of logic are one thing, but he's a wealthy and well-known individual and they leave his battered car at the scene of a crime amongst other destruction -- and no one comes looking for him? He's running around coming up with military-esque attack plans (with no such background as far as I can tell) absolutely blindly, and his friendly NYPD sergeant is more than happy to follow him, break laws with him, and walk blithely away from the resultant destruction with him. If it were a movie, I would compare it to "The Expendables." It ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger (the main story is resolved, but wait there's more!), and I'm mildly intrigued about it, but I don't know if I'll bother.

The book entices you as a reader immediately. A filthy rich larger-than-life consultant is employed to look at the body of the third senator having committed suicide in as many weeks. Why are the senators being killed off and why? Who is behind this madness? This will keep your fingers flipping the pages as you seek to discover the who and why behind these killings. The book is very interesting, but the author does enjoy going into minute detail in all of his combat scenes. If you enjoy that sort of thing, then this is the book for you.

The detailed descriptions of the action scenes had me feeling like I was right there. I could almost feel the pain the characters were experiencing. I couldn't stop reading to find out what was coming next.

Having already been disappointed by book two in this series, I decided to give the author another chance and wish I hadn't. This is a fast-moving mystery that could have made a great read, but it is written more as a come-on for the rest of the series than a stand-alone book. It is the first in the series, and the author fulfilled his purpose well. Unfortunately, his purpose was to promote the other Leopold Blake books rather than to provide the reader with a great reading experience. He introduces the characters in the series and then leaves the reader hanging at the end. Too bad, the author has wonderful talent but places a low priority on sharing it with his readers. I'm not offering a third chance!!

Thrilling, this book had scenes more exciting than an action movie. I was on the edge of my seat, wishing I could speed read!! Already purchased the next 2 books, can't wait to start reading the next one.

A truly action-packed macho 'super-hero' book with no suspense, realistic characters, or reason to turn the pages. Every form of fighting is thoroughly described, be it by bombs, guns, knives, or meaty muscle. Every kind of pain, state of unconsciousness, bloody wound and injury is supposed to keep one's interest. Wrong. A boring book, not recommended.
