Robinson does it again -- one of his best. DCI Banks and Annie Cabot continue to be my favorite Brit mystery characters. Robinson has a wonderful way with words -- plot, character development. It's really hard to put down.

Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks novels always keep me entertained,I will buy his books without reading the cover!!This novel about the murder at the rehab centre was again an excellent read, well thought out and suspenseful to the very end.

Peter Robinson novels will draw you into the rural British lifestyle and keep you guessing at the same time. Inspector Banks comes alive as a real person as he takes you through his latest case. Always a good read!

loved this book, loved the approach of banks to the murder/mystery, no barging into the crime scene with vivid descriptions of the bodies. This writer make you use you imagination to draw conclusions and follow the detection process, Only one problem...too long between books!!!

I felt at times I was reading two different stories - - one about Banks and one about Annie. Moreover, I am tired of hearing about "bent" cops.Just finished an Ian Rankin (Standing In Another Man's Grave) where being suspected of being bent was the theme that moved the story along. However, a British cop in Estonia was surprising and different. It was a comfortable read but somehow very forgettable.

Peter Robinson has a knack of making the characters real life, normal people, and I've noticed, maybe more in this book, that he shows the technical aspects and thought process the police use to gather information and put the pieces together. A great story well told.

I have been an ardent admirer of Peter Robinson for years, and think I've read at least 20 of his Alan Banks-books, and can't wait for the next one when I finish one!
His use of the english language is both unpretentious and clear, reminds me of my other linguistic favourite John Steinbeck.
More of Peter Robinson!!!

Having read all the Inspector Banks books I feel like I know the man personally The author has allowed the character to mature but retain his personality and remain a likeable person but still with character flaws Another well written mystery

This is a well-written thriller which keeps one glued to the book until the last 2 pages. Only then does it slow down. It maintains the true character of DCI Banks throughout the story. Robinson is not just a story teller, but also engages the reader.

It is impossible to read this book without recalling Mankell's "Dogs of Riga". Alan Banks social issues are spreading throughout Europe, focusing in a larger reality than Yorkshire. It's a good book but somehow I missed the daily routines, characters and small town social relations that are so endearing. I hope his middle age crisis won't last!
