The Yellow Wallpaper is one of the most brilliant, succinct stories that will haunt you and make you laugh in disbelief at the same time. I read it in high school, and then periodically ever since. It never gets old, and was a must have for my library.

I'm really not intrested in the whole femenist bit people in other reviews keep talking about. To me, this is just a freakin' good, creepy story. I like the subtle way things change throughout the tale, and the image conjured up by the ending has stuck with me for days. You should read this story.

First read this story in high school, and loved it. It is a really, really good, really interesting short story, and I would recommend it to anyone, especially people who are feeling disconnected in life.

While watching the first season of American Horror Story, I picked up the part where the ghost maid told the woman that she should read "The Yellow Wallpaper" to see one perspective of the oppression of women by men. It was very good, had a dark little twist. I read along while listening to an audio recording online, it makes the read much better and easier to understand. I love literature, so this was a nice short story.

Everyone should read this story at some point. An interesting study in the treatment of women and hysteria in the late 19th century with it's twists and turns leaving the reader to wonder exactly what happens in the story.

Only one who has traveled down the path herself can so clearly portray the futility of being a woman in the early 1900's. My recommendation is to read this, then read a bio of the author. Gilman is truly the strong woman.

A wonderful descent into madness. The author truly captures what it must be like to have a mental illness where you begin to trust what is going on inside your head, more than what is going on in the world. At the same time I felt like maybe her husband was drugging her in some way and that was causing the delusions. I may read again to get better insight.

A very well written and comprehensive gothic novella. Told from the narrator's point of view it was very easy to follow her in her downward spiral following the birth of her child. It has a wonderful sinister overtone, atmospheric and descriptive.

A very interesting and mind bending through perception read. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be insane, this is your book. It is like being in the head of a person who is tripping balls!

The author does a spectacular job of detailing this woman's descent into madness through the use of comments about the yellow wallpaper. Quick one-sitting read, 30-45 minutes.

I enjoyed the purchase of this book very much. The cover and the contents of the books matched exactly what was advertised. I count these things very seriously and I liked how everything was very clear from the start.

It's a really interesting book if you can understand the deep meaning behind this book especially understanding when this book was published and the true issues that Charlotte faced when she met a psychologist during this time.

The Yellow Wallpaper, a classic, was a very short story and I was glad when it was done (ending a bit weird by the way). While I appreciate that the author is likening the life of a 19th century woman to that of dull and boring wallpaper, I thought the story was repetitive and somewhat boring. Like wallpaper, a woman of her time was expected to be seen and not heard and act in a certain way. If she didn't then there must have been something wrong with her. However, the woman in this story sounds like she really is a bit off her rocker; and the longer she stays in the room the crazier she becomes. According to most of the reviews, I was expecting this to be a much better story but thankfully it ended quickly!
