I just Love all John Grisham novels , so they are so well written. He not only tells a good story but all the details of the legal side. When i am done reading a book , i feel like i could represent someone in a trial , LOL

This book gives the reader a very good background on the death penalty and everything that goes with it but gets quite depressing at times with the long-winded descriptions of the old man's experiences on death row. But I suppose that goes with the subject, otherwise a good read with lots of suspense.

Very well written as usual for a Grisham . Makes one think if you really do believe in the death penalty.
Honor among theives came to mind...even tho he really was innocent..he kept his pledge to never tell.
Sad but real....made one think!

Rambled on with far too much irrelevant detail.
The worst ending of any of his books. Forgot about the bloke who broke into the house of Lee, and was never heard of again
poor for his standards

Grisham makes the USA judicial system very real and this book is the best
exposition against the death penalty that I've read. Criminals lack the
ability to view consequences of their acts, and thus are not influenced
by the penalty, so the death penalty is not really a deterrent.

The Chamber is one of the better courtroom dramas written by John Grisham. The family connection between defendant and lawyer makes it all the more poignant and, with the death penalty looming in every chapter, overall makes for a gripping read.
