I have read excerpts from his UT speech. For anyone who wants to build a business or accomplish their life goals, this is a must read. Discipline is everything and it starts with making your bed everyday, something I have done my whole life..

My husband has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia this past fall of 2016. While he was in the hospital it became my job to sell our home of 29 years, sell his dental practice of 42 years plus the building and pray for his recovery. This book has inspired us to look at what is possible for our future and that what we lost is outweighed by what we have gained!

Great learning tool for kids and adults. The concept of these 10 things can and should be applied to our everyday life. Awesome stories with many encouragements. Go and get this book, you'd be glad that you did.

I LOVE this book!! It's simple, practical advice put forth in such an interesting, down-to-earth way that I read it in one sitting.

Admiral McRaven is a retired Navy Seal, and many of the vignettes backing up the principles he puts forth in ten short chapters come from that experience. The book also includes his now famous 2014 commencement speech at the University of Texas.

These are the life principles on which I was raised and I love that a new generation is being reminded of them! I plan to give each of my grandchildren a copy of this book, and will revisit it from time to time myself.

Kudos, Admiral McRaven - well done!

Compact and to the point about the choices we all make each day that make us who we are. Some people make choices on what is the easiest method (and suffer the results) and other makes choices that are more mature and reap the benefits. These ten principles are not in themselves difficult but followed will make one a better human being. There are no shortcuts to doing what is right.

McRaven fleshes out the motto over my locker room door, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” He takes life lessons forged in the fires of adversity and inspires the reader to apply them in daily life. It all starts with a task properly completed.

Couldn't help 5 stars. May not be literary genius. May not be scientifically proven. May not be scriptural. But it is good sense and physically doable and inspiring. I challenged my son to read it and we'll discuss it this week.

I saw a video of the featured graduation address on Facebook and realized that this unpretentious hero had crammed decades of wisdom into mere minutes. If you want to "reboot" your life or "up your game" this book provides a unarguable structure. Most of us could never aspire to the challenges overcome by a Navy Seal but we can certainly apply the principles to our rather more mundane obstacles and opportunities.

A short but good read. Nothing special here other than a few old "war story" short chapters. Was a little expensive (I bought the Kindle version) for the short length of the book but overall I did enjoy reading it.

A page turning opportunity to look introspectively and decide that making a difference in this world starts with you, with the first task of the day, and with your own commitment to be a better you. Admiral McRaven's ideas are straightforward and apply to service members and civilians alike. A must read, no matter what stage of life you are in today. RLTW!

I bought this book for my teenage daughter who is in JROTC. She doesn't like to read all that much. She loved it. I read it first and also enjoyed it very much. It's short and sweet and has positive, no nonsense advice for all ages. It confirms that how we deal with what happens to us determines who we become.

Being prior service myself this book hit home with me, and reminded me of so many things I've experienced in my past. Though it sounds like a refresher course or a reminder of the past I thoroughly enjoyed this short read. Seriously short! You can read the whole book in about an hour or so but he knowledge contained within is absolutely spot on and worth the read.
