This is one of Christie's best conceived plots, and that's saying a great deal for she was a master of tightly woven unexpected mysteries .Imagine two passenger trains traveling together side by side on two separate lines just long enough for an older woman to witness the strangling of a woman passenger in the compartment of the other train.Suspense mounts when not only is no body discovered ,but only the intrepid Miss Marple believes that anything actually happened.Other than Hercules Poirot ,Jane Marple is Christie's finest creation. This mystery is among her best ,which means it far surpasses most mysteries.

Loving anything written by Agatha Christie, this book is no exception! It is a light mystery with interesting side notes as Christie's writing always is! If you're looking for a good, not too gory mystery, then this book will be sure to please.

This is not the best Agatha Christie book, that I have read, but it held my interest until the very end. I tried so hard to solve the mystery along with Miss Marple, but she was the better detective and always seems to figure out the murderer.

I love all the Miss Marple mysteries. Even though I remembered this one and who the murderer was, I still enjoyed reading it again. There aren't many authors today who write as good a mystery as Agatha Christie did

The Miss Marple books are just as funny, sharp and enjoyable as when I first read them 65 years ago.
In addition, I am enjoying the English version of the kindle book which I have just received much more than the Ukrainian version which I mistakenly ordered and received. Thank you, the store, for correcting my self-induced error promptly and easily! Within moments they had removed the charge for the first and I had the right version in my hand.

Despite being the main character, Miss Marple has another one off character do all the real work while she sits on the sidelines and only comes in at the last minute to solve the case. She's a bit more involved than in previous books I've read in the Miss Marple series but is still mostly on the back burner when compared to other main characters. The plot itself isn't bad but there just isn't enough there to keep you interested. The characters are fine but it's just such a typical story that's been done by Christie many times over. There's no real mystery or sense of adventure, It's just a kind of point A to point B mystery that doesn't break the norm.

This is a lovely murder mystery with very interesting characters. I especially enjoyed Miss Marple solving the murder from the sidelines amid the speculations of who was the victim and who was the murderer.

I love to read gentle mysteries without all the violence. Seems an oxymoron, but in Christie's books people get murdered but seldom get hurt. One can enjoy the solving, follow Miss Marples logic, and end up satisfied.

This is the first Agatha Christie Miss Marple mystery I have ever read. I enjoyed it. It didn't take me long to read it and I was surprised at the ending. I would recommend it to others who enjoy a good mystery.

I enjoyed this Agatha Christie novel because of the combination of Christie's descriptions and characteristics of the players in the story and the surprising resolution to the mystery. All the information needed to solve the mystery is noted within the story. It takes a bit a research to confirm Miss Marple's suspicions. Very pleasant reading.

Ms. Christie writes mysteries like few others can. In this Miss Marple mystery, the senior detective is mostly off-stage with a Mary Sue-like character taking the lead in the investigation, but the author keeps you guess to the end.
