To one knowledgeable in literature this would be a fascinating book. I missed a lot by my lack of knowledge and unwillingness to take the time to do related research. Hope to read this again when I can spend more time enjoying the process of conversion.

In this book Lewis describes his lifetime voyage to his most profound self. His description of how lifetime was in England at the time is amazing and takes us to the places and the time.
His most honest description of his feelings, fears and doubts is an inspiration for anyone trying to find real joy.

This is an autobiography of C.S. Lewis' life. You see what shaped him and the struggles he faced in his acceptance of Christianity. From this book you will better understand what shaped him and thus better understand his other works.

CS Lewis masterfully tells the story of God's pursuit of him. All Lewis' experience led him to one grand conclusion, God is personal, God is a person, God is the conclusion to which all religion and paganism strive but fall short. Christ is the conclusion, the fulfillment of joy.

Excellently wtitten, honest account of Lewis' early life, education, and formative years. His thoughtful and honest approach to his own struggle with faith/disbelief is engaging and at times painful. His intellect and reasoning shine through on every page, and his conclusion, while not inescapable for all readers, certainly is for himself. It may be an uncommon path to devout faith, but it is clear that there could be no other path for Lewis, and this in itself offers hope and encouragment to each of us that if we honestly seek faith, God will meet us where we need Him, if not where we expect Him.

This book is C.S. Lewis's testimony - not autobiography. He takes great care to make it so. It is filled with humor which lightens some of the darker times. I did feel that I needed a classical English degree to really understand many of the references and quotes he uses (including the epigraphs). And I will definitely n MCeed to read it again. More importantly though, this story, his story, reveals how God is faithful to chase us down and claim us as his own despite ourselves.
