A very powerful body of Evidence proving the authenticity of the Bible and the Deity of Jesus Christ! Especially helpful in giving you Scriptures to support your witnessing the Truth to your family and friends. Fully documented with Scripture verses and highly organized to support every Bible category and subject. Excellent student resource material and very scholarly! Enjoyable to read. Easy to use.

Overall, I think this this book is very informative. However, when approaching this book it is important to understand the author's style. It is put forward in more of a bullet point outline style - not necessarily a classic prose style. The author is very open that he is not trying to be eloquent, however, instead get the information to you in a straight-forward and clear way. If the reader approaches it that way then it is much easier to read. That being said, this book has an absolutely ton of information to review and digest. In addition, the author points you to other very good resources to do further research. I would recommend this book to anyone is making an open-minded investigation of their own.

This is such an incendiary topic, religion, and the reviews are full of such emotion...
This book is scholarly yet easy to read; conveniently structured; well researched and highly regarded by many, some of whose opinions should be respected; and the summary of the various "sides" is much more than adequate.
If you were to read one book on this topic, from the believe's side, or even one book representing both sides, I recommend this one.

This book is packed full of good information for skeptics, doubters and believers. Easy to find the section you want, easy to read and understand. A great resource for all levels of bible understanding. It demonstrates the high level of faith it takes to believe that Jesus is not the risen son of God and the Bible is not the Word of God. Very good evidence well presented. An apologetic must. This book would not be a good cover to cover read for the novice on either side of an argument, but as a reference tool you will love it. It simply has so much information you need to absorb and explore it with other reading.

This is an excellent resource that you will come back to time and time again. Josh McDowell is great and the style is sort of an outline so you can jump around a little. It is overwhelming to read the whole thing all at once, it's huge, but definitely skip around and take what you want. I have used this time and time again to discuss with my husband. If you are a "current" Christian, you need this to solidify your faith even more and if you are a "doubting" or "non" Christian, you will be blown away. Great book. One of my all time favorites.

This book is bigger than an encyclopedia and delivers in every way. It addresses the case for dating the gospels early (before 70 A.D), proof of authorship, prophecies fulfilled by Jesus, early writings of church fathers, etc, etc. It's very well written and easy to understand but it also packs enough details for the most intellectual thinker. A must have for any student of apologetics or anyone who desires to increase their faith or defend it to others.

I am a fundamental, KJB, open air [ana]baptist preacher.
This book is a good resource to have for anyone interested in apologetics. There is a massive amount of information contained in this book that is not only based on evidentialism but also presuppositional apologetics as well. Many authors top thinkers are referenced in this book which also makes it helpful.
I would recommend this book to anyone dealing regularly with college students and even the general public who are Biblically illiterate. It will help answer some of the fundamental questions asked today.
That being said, I believe this book has some major flaws common to Christian academia.
1) It assumes that the major problem facing the sinner is information based.
The sinner is in rebellion against God not because of a lack of information but because of selfishness. His problem is moral and not theological or evidential in nature (Romans 1:20, 3:23, 6:23). Presuppositional apologetics and other philosophical approaches are more effective when dealing with the skeptic.
2) It assumes that the Bible is reliable because of manuscript evidence and not due to a special preservation
The Bible, like the God of the Bible, must be accepted by faith. Faith does not indicate a lack of evidence, but is grounded primarily on God's promises rather than man's ability to explain something. God promised to preserve His word and that His word is perfect (Psalm 12:6-7, 119:128; 2 Tim 3:16-17 etc.) I believe that Mr. McDowell, in attempting to provide manuscript evidence, actually does more damage to the reliability of the Bible by attempting to validate corrupt manuscripts that underly modern Bible versions. The Textus-Receptus is God's preserved Word throughout history and not the latest revision of Biblical texts peddled in the marketplace today.
Claiming the Bible is "almost perfect" is pointless because with a flawed Bible a person can only relate to the God of the Bible in a flawed manner. The Bible is either absolute or obsolete. This is why it is critical to understand the truth of God's Word being preserved through time in the TR/Masoretic texts.

Great book (a must read)for Christians and for skeptics as well who don't believe. The book was easy to ready and well researched putting forth both sides of the argument for the reader to decide based on the evidence and as the title of the book goes, evidence that demands a verdict.
I have studied the documentary hypothesis of both old and new testaments and the book clearly debunk each of those claims. It shocked me looking back on studying these theories in university and how they are taught as fact in christian courses.
Most importantly, the book also provides a different insight and perspective that I did not consider looking into as well as a strengthen of faith. Christian are to have strong Faith in the Lord, but that does not mean that faith does not have historical validity.
There were subjects discussed I did not agree with; but this did not take from the quality and standard in which I viewed the book.
Great Job Josh, I will share this book with all whom I know. As it answers lots of questions.

While most of the book held my attention the insights seemed to be accurately inexhaustible. I could, at times, only read ten or so pages before I lost my attention...but would always go back for further information. JG
