I’m a huge fan of Michaels Hyatt’s work. I’m a free focus planner user, a BYE alumn for two consecutive years and a regular listener of his podcast. This book is like a compilation of the BYE course combined with the full focus planner metodology, a lot of the same examples and testimonials. I was expecting more new learning material and ideas. I you haven’t try the BYE course this is a great book for you.

Having gone through many of Michael Hyatt’s courses I assumed this would just all be the same info I have heard before. But in reality it was Full great stories and info that really motivated me to push for exciting and risky goals in 2018. Using his steps outlined in this book I lost over 80lbs and I am training for a full marathon. I believe it was his framework that taught me to close out the past and set real meaningful goals for myself.

I loved this book by Michael Hyatt. Very practical and actionable. I like the fact that he spends the first three chapters on mindset and ways to upgrade your beliefs so you can achieve the goals that you do set. This foundation is critical to the methodology Michael lays out in the rest of the book and to taking the action consistently necessary to create your best year ever.

I have enrolled in Michael's 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever online course and this book offers additional material to what I have learned in the course. I will be giving this book as gifts to my adult children and other friends so they can achieve their most important goals and have their best year ever.

Michael Hyatt is the one I turn to for advice on goal setting. I was extremely happy when I found out about this book and after receiving it, my expectations have been exceeded!

Michael offers practical advice in an engaging and actionable format. This book has made me the most excited I have ever been to start setting goals.

*I received a free copy of this product to facilitate this post, however you, my readers, come first and all opinions are my own.

I really like Michael Hyatt. The book, however, was disappointing. It's will probably be useful if you've never read a goal setting book. However, almost everything in here is available elsewhere. There was a lot of filler and book could have been a concise booklet. As a working mother, juggling work, childcare and renovations, I couldn't relate to the stories and worksheets. They seem better suited for someone where the partner is running the household. Unfortunately that's not me. I also wasn't a fan of the religious stuff.

If you're interested in Michael's methods, listen to his podcast and blog. I find them more useful than the book.

Good so far, but I am not happy with the e book. I will most likely break down and buy the hard copy. I tried but I think actual print would do this book more justice. Have friends that have the hard copy and love it.

This book is very basic. If you're a fan of the self-development genre and have read more than a handful of books, don't buy this book. It's a rehashing of old information that is found in tons of other books. The info is pretty good, but I have seen every single concept discussed somewhere else before.

Overall it seemed to go on and on without a lot of deep content. Basically I think Michael was asked to write a certain number of pages and he did. He could have given us the point in 100 words or less.

This is the book you're looking for if you're disillusioned about goal setting. Michael's Best Year Ever material helped me understand:
*how to identify what is truly a goal vs an everyday project
*how subconscious beliefs stop me before I ever get started (and how to change those beliefs)
*how the past impacts my current goals
*how to clearly define, and refine to a small list, helps me create actionable goals
*how setting the bar too low actually leads to failure
*how to keep my goals in front of me on a daily basis

This book provides all the tools needed to truly make a difference in your goal achievement, without having to invest hundreds of dollars to go through his course on the topic. It is literally worth hundreds of dollars just in coaching it provides. I've completed his online course for this topic two years in a row now and would immediately recommend this to someone who couldn't invest in the course.

Over the past year, we accomplished over half the goals I set for the year, some of which we had been "trying" to do for ten years or longer.

For those already students of his courses, this is like having the full, printed guide, with expanded examples and topic discussion beyond the course.

Book includes templates for clarifying goals and tracking them as well.

I hate goal setting - but Michael Hyatt's Your Best Year Ever moved me around my issues by getting me to focus on how I wanted to live physically, emotionally, and spiritually, not on the "goal setting." Also, starting the new year with acknowledging what I've achieved in the past year as well gave me a positive place to begin. Setting times to regularly review my actions and giving myself space to realize that some things on my list are no longer serving me in my larger purpose has allowed me to let go of several things I'd been carrying forward (but not doing) for several years.

The book is written sequentially but I've also found it helpful to take a specific project and drop into a section of the book that will help me move that project forward. I also use the book as a way to provide weekly inspiration by just opening to a random page and reading the section I land in - there is always helpful information that is relevant to my current project.

Since I stated reading the book and working with the ideas in it, I have accomplished more. This is definitely the best start to a year I've had in a long time and I'm looking forward to following an upward curve throughout the year! If you want a heart-centered yet practical guide, get this book.

Alignment is a big deal for me, whether reading or recommending books. To avoid "Management by Bestseller Syndrome," I look for books, blogs, articles, and podcasts that are in alignment with my core view of leadership and management.

"Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals," by Michael Hyatt, aligns with many of my core beliefs, especially my Results Bucket. And how could I not read this? I’m a big fan (and reviewer) of seven or his endorsers: Seth Godin, John C. Maxwell, Henry Cloud, Andy Stanley, Donald Miller, Andy Andrews, and Ian Morgan Cron.

Michael Hyatt says that “great goals check seven boxes.” I’ve preached “S.M.A.R.T. Goals” for years, so how did I feel about this bestselling author’s two-upmanship? OK, I thought, lay out your case for S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Goals. Hyatt’s big seven:
--Specific
--Measurable
--Actionable
--Risky
--Time-keyed
--Exciting
--Relevant

My first thought: If S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Goals are smarter than S.M.A.R.T. Goals, then why not S.M.A.R.T.Y.P.A.N.T.S. Goals? (Then I prayed and confessed to having an arrogant spirit. Then I read Chapter 7: really good stuff!)

You, or someone on your team or in your family, will love this book—and for many, it could be a career-altering holy fork-in-the-road experience. The quotable PowerPoint-worthy lines ooze off the page:

--“Goals poorly formulated are goals easily forgotten.”
--“Dragging the worst of the past into the best of the future is another reason goals fail.”
--“Fitness centers sell yearlong contracts knowing the majority of customers won’t come for more than a few weeks. NPR covered one chain with 6,500 members per location and only room for 300 at a time.”
--The chart on page 37 contrasting “Scarcity Thinkers” with “Abundance Thinkers” is revealing. The latter “welcome competition, believing it makes the pie bigger and them better.”
--“…if you already have everything you need to achieve your goal, then your goal’s probably too small.”
--“Resources are never the main challenge in achieving our goals.”

I appreciate authors who declare their assumptions, because Donald Rumsfeld reminds us that “It is possible to proceed perfectly logically from an inaccurate premise to an inaccurate and unfortunate conclusion.” (Read Rumsfeld's Rules: Leadership Lessons in Business, Politics, War, and Life.) Hyatt lists five assumptions, and begins with “real life is multi-faceted”—his circle of 10 interrelated domains: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, marital, parental, social, vocational, avocational, and financial.

The book has ample doses of LOL one-liners, like the section on “There’s No Autocorrect for Tattoo Needles,” and this actual tattoo: “REGRET NOHING.”

More good stuff—and alignment:

--“An experience is not complete until it is remembered.” (Wow…this aligns perfectly with my 2017 book-of-the-year, The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact.)
--“The Opportunity Principle” (based on research) fits well with my recent review of Dollars and Sense: How We Misthink Money and How to Spend Smarter. Hyatt contrasts roadblocks with road signs. Great metaphors.
--“…the mere act of writing one’s goals boosted achievement by 42 percent.” (For more, see my 2016 book-of-the-year, The One Thing.)
--A written goal “…enables you to see—and celebrate—your progress.” More alignment with my Hoopla! Bucket.
--And for some personality types, why “Eat That Frog” may not be the best advice.

If you’re a March Madness fan—order the book today, and read pages 89-90 to your team at work or home. Hyatt shares a Coach K secret how Duke University’s Mike Krzyzewski leveraged the power of gratitude to inspire the Duke basketball team to win the 2015 NCAA Tournament Championship Game. You will customize his creative idea for your own team.

A few more:

--Quoting Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “It is only with gratitude that life becomes richer,” Hyatt journals his gratitude every day.
--“The only people with no hope are those with no regrets.”
--“It may sound simplistic, but I find it’s best to use a strong verb to prompt the action you want to take.” (Examples: fun, finish, or eliminate.”)

Finally—my favorite and most practical take-aways:

--The dramatic difference between achievement goals and habit goals.
--10 very practical pages of sample goal templates (pages 237-246)
--Myth-buster: you can perfect new habits in 21 days (research says its 66 days).
--The calendar chain concept. I’ve started using it.
--“We share our goals, but not with everyone.”
--Brilliant: use Activation Triggers. (Example: “Program the lights in my office to turn off automatically at 6:00 p.m. so I follow through on my goal of quitting work by 6:00 p.m.)

This is a must-buy.

There is something for everyone in Hyatt's newest book. Maybe a little too much for some, and maybe just what the doctor ordered for others. There are charts, real life examples and numbered steps or lists to follow. The aim is goal setting, and the tools will aid and assist you in that objective.
I have been a rather compulsive goal setter/planner for years and because of that, I have my favorite systems in place. I actually prefer having much more margin in my day than this plan allows for. I want to have room for God to redirect my path daily. I found some of Hyatt's templates and ideas to be much too rigid. I actually wonder how I could ever live that way. Then again, as I said, you might need that kind of structure in your life. If you have never really thought about your goals before, you will find plenty of tips in the book. My biggest takeaway? Goals and dreams do not lie in a comfortable relaxed zone. Hyatt makes this point, and he explains it quite well. If I gleaned nothing else, I see how many times I stay back where life is easier, instead of taking that step of faith into something better. I would imagine if the book and its concepts are a bit overwhelming for you, you will still be able to pull out useful ideas. Then again, you may take the plunge and employ everything. New Year's resolutions will never look the same if you utilize all or parts of Hyatt's plan.
(I was given a free copy of this book from the publisher and the review is strictly my own. I was not paid for the review.)

Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan For Achieving Your Most Important Goals
Michael Hyatt
Baker Books

One of my struggles for the past 30 plus years is getting in the habit of setting up my goals in life for success. Like many people in this world I have spent countless years trodding and plodding along to just get through the year in one-piece. I have read books, went to seminars and even had mentors help me, just to end up being organized and disciplined for a time and then I eventually giving up and going back to living an unorganized life.

For some reason this new book from Michael Hyatt got my attention and I figured, why not it can't hurt to read another book about achieving goals. When I cracked open the front cover of this book I had very little hope, because many of these "kinds" of books have good intentions and ideas, but are highly impractical. As I began reading I quickly realized this book was starting to read different than previous books I have read on this subject. The stories the author wrote resonated with me, the challenges were not so outrageous that I couldn't get my head around them, and the the content spoke to me right where I am today. The more I read, the more motivated I was to start implementing some of the 5-steps that I was reading about into my life. Recently I concluded the book and I can happily say that I am on board and on track with setting up a plan to have my "best year ever".

YOUR BEST YEAR EVER is a fantastic book that has transformed the way I work, take time off, and pursue the disciples of my daily routines (habits). I cannot say that I am exactly at the place that I want to be right now, but I am well on my way and I am excited to see how this year goes. The 5-steps that Michael Hyatt introduces are as follows...
Believe the Possibility. There is power in having a positive mindset and outlook in life.
Complete the Past. We can and should learn from the past.
Design Your Future. Goal setting is a must if we want to accomplish great things.
Find Your Why. What motivates you to do what you do?
Make It Happen. What next steps do you need to take? .

This book has been a tremendous resource to start off 2018 for me. Mr. Hyatt has crafted a book that is easy to read, yet also challenges me to not seek the easy way out in regards to setting and accomplishing my goals. Setting and achieving goals is not an easy task, and shouldn't be. I firmly believe that if your goals are too easy to accomplish, then maybe you are not setting the bar high enough.

As I near the conclusion of the first month of this year I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I am encouraged by the pages of Hyatts book YOUR BEST YEAR EVER and I am excited as I work through the companion FULL FOCUS PLANNER (Sold separately) resource to help me accomplish my most important goals. If you are looking for a practical and manageable plan that can help you accomplish the goals in your life, then I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

You have dreams. You have goals. I know this because you are reading this. I do not count the robots from Google reading this, but thanks. What we (and I say we because I count myself in this category quite often) lack is the ability to follow through on these. For whatever excuse we use, most of us will not ever complete the task we dream of doing. Michael Hyatt is out to fix that issue.

Sure, he may not be able to make the effort and work easier, but he can help us hit our goals. In his new book Your Best Year Ever, Hyatt guides us in proven steps to help us accomplish our goals. This book is relatively short and is an easy read, but the contents are worth more than what you pay. You could easily read this in one day if you sat down with your morning cup of coffee, but it should not be read that way. Instead, to grasp the full extent of the content, one must chew on it and digest it. Trust me when I say chew. It will be better that way.

Now is the perfect opportunity to pick this book up and do some planning for the next year. As we are still at the beginning of January, there is a lot of time left in the year to accomplish things. If we not only dream big, but make a smart plan, we can do a lot. Michael’s plan is a great way to fulfill those dreams.

I would recommend this book to people that are serious about tackling their careers, relationships, and taking control of their life. As a business major, I had heard of SMART goals, but Michael expands on this and uses SMARTER goals. That is just one of the things you can expect to read about to put into action to make your life succeed.

As a side note, I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The words above are my own and have not been influenced in any way by the author or publisher outside of the written manuscript.

I reluctantly began reading Michael's book "Your Best Year Ever" expecting to see things I have read in countless other books and publications dealing with "Self Help." However, what I discovered was a wonderfully explained and detailed life approach that speaks to every personality type, ethnicity, and any heart that is desperately seeking change!

Michael has expertly crafted a challenging yet delightful book that contains information anyone can understand and apply in their daily lives! It is a book that I plan on keeping close at hand for many years to come.

Do yourself a favor and purchase this book! You will not regret it!

Okay. I admit it. My family and friends might call me a Michael Hyatt groupie. But, hey! What’s not to like about getting training from one of the country’s foremost productivity and leadership experts?

Hyatt’s affable teaching style, his solid research in best practices, and his obvious desire to help other people find their “why” helps him develop devoted fans.

In his new book, Your Best Year Ever, Michael has done it again. I’ve read both his Platform and Living Forward books. I’m a student of his Free to Focus and Platform University programs. And, I’ve implemented his Best Year Ever principles for two years in a row.

Michael’s 5 Step plan helps you overcome limiting beliefs, guides you through putting past failures behind you, shows you a 7 part framework for SMARTER goal making, helps you find your “why”, and guides you through taking action immediately.

To keep you on track, Michael recommends weekly and quarterly reviews, talks about how to get through the messy middle and on the other side to success.

The book is full of illustrations, step-by-step action plans, and templates.

Michael’s clear, concise, and readable approach to planning really can lead you to your Best Year Ever. It isn’t hype. If you work the plan, you’ll reap the benefits. It must work, because there is a plethora of self-proclaimed Michael Hyatt groupies in real life who have implemented the techniques and are experiencing amazing results. Here’s to your Best Year Ever!

As always, Michael Hyatt is a fount of useful information. He provides not only the principles, but actionable steps to achieve your goals and make it the best year ever. I find his enthusiasm contagious. I've been a Michael Hyatt "fan" for several years now, enjoying his podcast and blog. I wasn't able to invest in the BYE course (though I wanted to) so I was very glad to hear that he was distilling some of that information in book format. I'm not at all disappointed in this book! I get the impression that Michael Hyatt genuinely wants to see people find success, which I find inspiring. Get the book, apply the principles, and you won't be sorry!

Note: I received this book at no cost as part of the launch team, but I was not required to post a positive review and all opinions are my own. I did not receive any other compensation. Honestly, I would've purchased the book anyway and I never recommend anything I don't personally stand behind.

I used to be the worst procrastinator. I would tell people that I was "so unorganized" as I finished every project at last second or ever late.

Well, I turned all of that around, and I've learned more about being a productive, successful, and happy person from Michael Hyatt more than anyone else.

Your Best Year Ever delivers.

Don't waste your time with New Year resolutions that you will almost certainly not keep. Pick up a copy of this book and learn from Michael's simple, yet smart philosophy on how to create and achieve your most important goals.

I cannot stress enough how this book has helped me prepare for 2018. I started reading this the week after Christmas. The week was slow and I knew it was the right time to review the past year and how I can change some habits in 2018. Most of us have that inner desire as we start a new season but not all of us have the gift of knowing where to start. I am one of those people. I knew what I wanted but felt I had no ability to create a blueprint to get these changes going. If you feel like you resonate with this -- I recommend that you give this book a try. It is like getting a GPS.

If you read this book and commit to the discipline, I am certain that this year's goals will be reachable for you. I have crossed off some of my mine already such as: reading 1 book weekly, decluterring 1 room of my home every 2 weeks, and a gratitude hour first thing in the morning.

Michael lays an excellent track to run on for winning with goals. Two items that made a positive impact with me are:

1. Chapter 15, Visibility is Essential
2. Connect with your "Why" or "Key Motivations"

The Weekly Review outlined in Chapter 15 was the key I needed in driving my goals forward. The Key Motivation was a great weekly reminder why I should keep pushing.

There are no shortcuts to discipline, but Hyatt provides the plan and the templates to get it done.

1. Buy the book.
2. Believe you can win.
3. Process your past.
4. Design your future.
5. Connect with your "why"
6. Follow the templates and actions to move your goals forward Daily, Weekly and Quarterly.

This plan works. Go for it!

An exceptional book for anyone. Whether you're a go-getter and want to move to the next level personally and professionally, or whether you're just tired of slogging through the same ol' rut, this book is a must-read.

I've set goals for years, some I've accomplished and some I haven't. I love the way the author gives tools to examine all aspects of our lives and find the areas where we want to take action. The book then takes us step-by-step through creating goals that stretch us, then developing a game plan to make them happen. I'm already starting my new goals and thrilled to see the progress I'll make!

Great book. Simple but useful plan. I received an advanced reader copy. Michael Hyatt gives an easy and doable five day plan to get you focused on completing your goal for the year. What I liked best was the fact that I created the plan myself based on his guidance. I decided what I needed, not his book. He just provides the framework. I fill in the details. That made the difference for me.

The basic idea of this book is an elaboration on a simple theme: if you want something, set a specific goal and measure your progress over the months/days/years. Mostly it was well-written, intelligent and readable, but I wondered if the ideas could have been outlined as easily in a 20-page article.

This book will change lives. That's no over-statement - it's not even really a prediction. It's more like a fact. The 5-step plan that Michael outlines "Your Best Year Ever" works. It's not just a theory written by some guy in crushed-velvet smoking jacket in a far-away university while smoking a pipe. This book is the culmination of years of work helping others reach their goals. Michael has trained thousands of students (probably tens of thousands of students by now) -- including me -- using the exact formula described in this book, and the results are dramatic.

As for the book itself, it couldn't be any better. In addition to being a productivity expert and leadership mentor, Michael is an accomplished writer and publisher. As a result, this book is well written, fun to read and approachable by anyone.

The bottom line is that if YOU want to have an AMAZING YEAR where you identify and achieve goals that you previously thought were simply out of reach -- this book if for you. I recommend this book without reservation -- and I bet you will too. It could change everything for you this year.

I have read countless books, listened to seminars, attended workshops and listened to podcasts to continue to refine my goal setting and dream creating abilities. When I picked up the book I was skeptical that I would learn much that I had not learned other places. WOW was I surprised. Some classic ideas are there like writing down goals . But I had never spent much time writing out my limiting beliefs and consider how they were holding me back. Adding to the standard SMART goals is really making me better. (You will have to buy the book to learn what is added there.) Finally I finally found a solution to areas where I wanted goals but felt that they were difficult to put down on paper as concrete. If you are going to read one personal development book this year. This is the one.

An in-depth explanation of what it takes to set effective and achievable goals - for your whole life, not just your work life - and how to put them into action.

Shares some examples of effective goals in 10 categories: Spiritual, Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Marital, Parental, Social, Vocational, Avocational & Financial. Also includes detailed Action Plans to complete after each Step, and sample Goal templates to create both Achievement and Habit Goals.

This book is a great resource to build a well-thought out strategy for setting - and achieving - goals that help you to live your best life, and not join the majority who set goals, or create New Year’s resolutions each year, that are quickly abandoned or forgotten.

Highly recommended!

I've done Michael Hyatt's "Your Best Year Ever" goal-setting course four years in a row now. It has literally changed my life. This book has everything that is in the course.

We all know that just reading a book won't change anything, unless you change. This book helps you figure out what has held you back and kept you stuck and what your next steps forward are. Decide when you order it that this book won't end up in a pile collecting dust. Let it guide you in the process of making lasting changes. You won't ever regret it.

This is the first of Michael Hyatt's books that I have read, although I am familiar with his work in other formats. Overall, I found the book to be well-researched and relatable, with plenty of practical insights to implement right away (I now have Plant Nanny on my phone...) as well as long-term strategy planning.

I also liked the Action Steps at the end of each section. Unlike some other goal-setting plans I have tried, these action steps were concise enough to be undertaken in a reasonable time frame while still offering enough information to be helpful.

Here are some of the specific things I appreciated in the book:

1) Excellent research--I loved reading about current research on each topic. This gave plenty of support to Michael's recommendations, moving them beyond the realm of simple suggestion and into best practice.

2) Lots of examples--Examples help bring abstract concepts down into the tangible realm of daily practice. Michael not only tells you what he recommends, but provides examples of how to do it.

3) Planning templates--The planning templates in the back of the book, while not intended as a full planner, still provide a good jumping off point for launching goal setting strategy.

The book includes lots of references to Michael's other work, including books and seminars you can participate in. Take this with a grain of salt. It's good to know these other resources are out there if you want them, but they may not be for everyone.

Overall, a good strategy resource. If you've never done strategy planning before, this book will give you a solid framework. If you already have a system you like, you'll still come away with some insights to help you tweak what you're doing and make it more effective.

I plan to review this annually.

I have been following Michael Hyatt for many years now and am an avid reader of his material such as his book called The Platform. I also started setting Goals the Michael Hyatt way back in 2015. In just a few years, his thinking, process, and system have improved dramatically but stays true to the excellent fundamentals he has developed. This book pulls it all together. it is phenomenal and anyone serious about not just setting Goals, but Achieving them, has to read, digest and follow this book. it is a complete Action Plan. Outstanding.

This is Hyatt’s best work, in my opinion. It’s clearly actionable, no wasting time getting bogged down in endless words. He gets straight to the meat of what’s going to make this the best year yet. I’ll recommend this to friends & colleagues as more than a book, it’s an actionable tool that everyone interested in moving forward should be using.

Hands down this is the best goal setting resource I have ever seen in book format. I have taken the online course Michael offers for the last two years and always wanted a book that I could give as a gift to friends that might not be able to afford the classes.

I personally achieved more by using the principles taught in this book and I know you can as well. Just be warned that you’ll probably find yourself investing in more of what Michael has to offer after you see the power of this book.

The author makes a statement that "my governing assumption is that the you are an educated high achiever who wants to grow personally and professionally" I am definitely educated but not an high achiever. I was looking for something that will make me one. Wonder if anyone is a high achiever why should they read this book any way? But I think there are some useful tips if you are not one.

One of the chapters the author talks about scarcity vs abundance thinking. I think we need to take this contextually. Probably in Hayatt's context there is plenty(which is U.S) People living in Indian context and probably Asian expats in the middle east need to have balanced scarcity mentality.. Speaking from personal experience. I was sharing knowledge based on this abundance thinking that "there is more where it came from" proved to detrimental. People who hoarded their knowledge survived and still have job. While I was chucked out!! I would take this advise with a pinch of salt as they say.

Goal-setting can be daunting and discouraging–who hasn’t lost a battle with a New Year’s resolution? But Your Best Year Ever lays out a specific, targeted plan for setting up goals that are less likely to tank.

This week, I spent two hours applying the principles in the book. Well worth my time investment. He describes ten main focus areas for improvement. I wrote a page for each area in my planner, and set SMARTER goals based on Michael’s system. What I enjoyed most is digging into the motivation behind each goal, and writing If/Then statements. That’s the main difference between the “plain” goal setting I’ve used on my own, and I believe it will help me actually reach my goals in 2018.

Example of my application:
I want to prioritize decluttering so I can enjoy fewer distractions and invite others over without fear. If I spend 15 minutes decluttering every evening between Jan. 1 and Aug. 1, I will reward myself with a new digital camera.

Do you have big goals for 2018? Or do you just want to truly kick a bad habit or keep a new one? This book can help you actualize your goals with specific targeting techniques.

I’m a big fan of Michael Hyatt. I took his Get Published course in 2015, and it set me on a professional writing track after years of experimentation. His book Platform is an essential resource for bloggers and writers, and his book Living Forward gave me a practical, wide-angle perspective on what I want to accomplish. I’m also a proud member of Platform University. So, I was excited to serve on the launch team for Your Best Year Ever. It exceeded my high expectations, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve spent the last several weeks working my way through Michael Hyatt’s newest book. Let me tell you one thing right off: Your Best Year Ever is an absolute MUST read!

I can’t tell you the last book I read that was this packed with smart and practical coaching about planning and doing the things you really want to do. Very readable, except for the nearly constant need to make a note in the margin as a reminder to do this!

Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals is what it claims to be. It is a very smartly designed 5 step plan.

I always like to do a quick flyover to get a sense for the whole road ahead. After finishing Your Best Year Ever, I’m working my way back through, starting from the beginning and putting the steps into action.

On the other hand, if you’re the kind of person that likes to do things one step at a time, you may want to take your time and do the steps as you go!

Every section concludes with an action plan and the plan is very practical (so practical that it begged to be worked on right then, instead of the flyover I intended!).

Your Best Year Ever concludes with goal templates (imported from Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner.™) True Confession: It makes me wish I had ordered the planner!

While any of the exercises and action steps would be helpful as a standalone, I have no doubts that taken together, this is a very powerful concoction and upon completion will set me on a course for my best year ever.

If you’ve always wanted to take things to the next level, Your Best Year Ever is an absolute must read and I highly recommend it!

I bought a planner where I can list my goals for the year. It sat blank on my desk. I was afraid to commit. Afraid of writing the wrong goals. After reading Your Best Year Ever, I was able to see what was holding me back and get unstuck. This book also kicked my butt in a good way. I often focus exclusively on work goals and career achievement. Your Best Year Ever helped me to examine all the domains and realms of my life. Now I have a clear plan to succeed in marriage, family, health, career and spiritual growth. This book is a winner.

Ok so I am 2 months into this book and I bought the Full Focus Planner with it. WOW. All I can say is WOW. I am a planner/business book addict and the concepts really bleed into the different books. I will say this is different and laid out phenomenally. I have been reading a chapter each day as I write in my planner for the day. I always say to my staff, "when you are overwhelmed there is safety in your checklist" and this has really not only helped me hone in on my daily checklist but IF anything on my checklist falls under my Annual Goals! This book really makes you more aware and brings more clarity in your desires for the year. Good Job Michael! You hit a home run on this one.

Michael has an amazing gift of taking difficult, overwhelming ideas and making them so clear and simple. Even though I coach and mentor people for a living, I was taking notes the entire time. If you can't afford a mentor, course or conference, this book with get you 90% of the way there. He makes the "work" easy and incredibly effective! As someone who lives and breathes this stuff, I still was highlighting on every page. Yet, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone who has never even cracked a life planning book.

How can you plan to have the best year of your life? Bestselling author Michael Hyatt has taught an online course for five years called 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever. Now some of this information is captured in the pages of YOUR BEST YEAR EVER.

As Hyatt writes in the opening chapter, “This book comes out of all that learning, living, and teaching. Based on decades of practical experience and the best current research on goal attainment and human achievement, this program is designed to help you find the clarity, develop the courage, and leverage the commitment you need to accomplish your most important personal and professional goals.” (Page 16)

The book combines personal stories, stories of others with detailed step-by-step how-to information. Also scattered throughout the book are pages with simple inspirational insights like “Goals poorly formulated are goals easily forgotten” or “Both achievement and habit goals can help us design the future we want.”

YOUR BEST YEAR EVER will give you what you need to isolate and accomplish your most important goals. I highly recommend this book.

When it comes to goal setting and achievement I'm not one to just want philosophy. Give me some actionable steps that I can immediately put to work. Michael Hyatt has done a masterful job of including actionable content on every page. Not only that, but he even provides links to online tools you can use. Philosophy and Action Steps... this is my kind of book!

Read the entire book in a day...and I’m not a fast reader. The Action Plan Steps at the end of each section summarize well the things I wanted to remember and put into practice.

A good mix of story, research results, and practical wisdom. It flows really well.

Ready to do what I often fall short on...take action. “Never leave the scene of clarity without taking decisive action.”

Printing out my goal sheets NOW.

This book is a great way to plan out the year. I have been following Michael for several years now and he delivers great work consistently and this is no expectation. Pairing this with Living Forward would make for a very intentional plan moving forward in the new year. One of my favorite parts of the book is pulling out quotes and highlighting them individually. The process of setting and achieving goals is only one small part having a great year. First we need to challenge our own beliefs about what is possible and make sure we prepare our mind to challenge ourselves to achieve more than we have before. Then Michael leads us down the path of looking backwards to understand why we struggled and where we made progress in the past even if we didn’t meet our overall objectives. As we set our goals we need to look at all areas of our lives and Michael has 10 areas to consider when setting your SMARTER goals. His process gives us the road map to be able to take action and make forward momentum even when the goal appears difficult to achieve. The book is a practical set of processes that we can use over and over again in setting different types of goals for different achievements all while keep our mindset positive and protecting ourselves from losing momentum when hitting roadblocks.

Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt includes common sense methods with the latest goals planning research. Like most people, I’ve used other systems to make a list of yearly goals. This takes the 5 days to your best year ever and puts it into a useful and research-backed format that is easy to digest with simple action plans at the end of each section.

I have followed Michael for a while through podcasts and even with the personal BYE last year. I was concerned there wouldn't be a whole lot different with this book, and while the principles are the same the research and the book format took me deeper into the topic of reflection and goals and bringing change to my life.

I'm very appreciative to MH and Company for the many years of mentoring and help and look forward to 2018!

This book is a practical, step-by-step guide to not just setting and achieving your goals. It's a book that will change how you go through life and make any year your best one yet. The process that Michael takes you through in this book show how to take the 10 domains of your life and assess them then create what you want your life to look like through your goals. He shares that there are two types of goals - achievement and habit. He shows you how to look backward and complete the past and then move forward into taking action. I've used this system for three years now and it has been transformational in how I create and accomplish my goals. Don't just read through this book like any other. While most of us make New Year's resolutions, the reality is that many of us don't actually keep those resolutions. Then, we may end up frustrated and just floating along through the year. I know I have "been there and done that" in the past. I want 2018 to be different and I imagine that you do too.

Your Best Year Ever from Michael Hyatt mixes practical advice and how to apply it with encouraging personal stories. Hyatt breaks the goal setting process down to five action steps that are easy to follow and understand. Each step contains three chapters and explains all of the details necessary to easily complete the steps. Then, at the end of each spelled-out step, there is a summary page with each of the five steps clearly laid out with directions to follow to make the plan your own. The back of the book also contains templates to use to lay out your goals.

Michael Hyatt's offers concrete advice on achieving goals in all areas of your life through his new book, Your Best Year Ever. He has a proven plan that is one that anyone can set in motion. He also offers research and examples of those who have already completed the plan in the past as encouragement to the reader that it can be done and make a difference in the next year. This is one of the best books that I have seen on goal setting and accomplishing new things. Hyatt shares a wealth of experience and information that just can't be beat.

I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.

I wasn't sure what to expect in reading this book. The title sounded like hype, and I was, honestly, a bit skeptical. But I have to say that I got a lot out of reading it. Since I read Hyatt's blog regularly, some of the content was familiar. And some of it was goal-setting 101, so that it probably what a few reviewers have complained about.
The section I found most helpful was in the first part of the book on challenging limiting beliefs. I've never been a fan of just standing in front of a mirror and saying, "I am awesome." That doesn't ring true for me. But Hyatt's discussion did. He addressed beliefs like, "I've always been bad at ..." "I just disorganized." "No one in my family has ever done that." As a psychologist, I see so many people get hung up here and they never move forward with what they want to do in their lives. It's then easy to blame everyone else. Hyatt's book helps you identify those beliefs that are holding you back, that you CAN do something about, and move forward to set some reasonable goals for the coming year.

It's a lot of content, and it can be overwhelming if you think you need to do it all at once. But if you take it bit by bit, Hyatt's book will help you carve out a more satisfying life. Well worth the money you would spend on it.

What's your Why? What gets you up in the morning and keeps you moving? Without really digging into your own goals, motivations and visions, you will never make any real progress. In Your Best Year Ever, Michael Hyatt manages to access that energy and then take it to the practical, every day level of action. What three things will you set as your top priorities TODAY to move you toward your goals and actualizing your dreams?

A very refreshing look at goal setting! Don't miss out on Michael's wisdom on how to access your OWN wisdom to get you moving!

Michael Hyatt does it again - he walks you through the five necessary steps to help you achieve your most important goals. The book guides you through the possibilities, dealing with your limiting beliefs (and how to overcome them), dealing with your past so you can embrace your future, using the SMARTER framework and how to keep your goals in front of you.

Much of the material can be found in his signature course by the same name; however, I loved the extra research that was put into the book. At the end of each step, there is an action plan you can implement to help you prepare and execute on your most important goals.

This book is a great tool for any leader desiring to help their teams establish and execute on their goals. Beyond the book as a leadership tool, this book will help each person go after the goals they want to achieve. The book is chocked full of examples from Best Year Ever alumni including some who became debt free, started important non-profits, ran their first 10K or half-marathon and so much more.

If you want to help your team, your family or you achieve the one nagging goal that never seems to get completed than this book is for you.

Did you know that changing your habits are easier when you set goals appropriately: with a pre-determined action and a specific time.
Did you know that in order to meet a goal, the goal has to have a "why." That's where the perseverance and desire come from. Know your why.
It will be hard to avoid superlatives as I recommend it to each and every one of you. It's not your typical beat-the-competition how-to book. Instead it gets you to think about who you are, what do you want, what do you believe...and invites you to make a doable plan that fits you, your family, your life-style, and your ambitions.

I found a lot of value in this book, especially from the perspective of someone who has a few decades under their belt, which means quite a few limitations that have more function than real form.

I liked that this book doesn't take the tone of perfection that says, "You can be great if you just try to be like X" but instead brings up the process of setting and achieving a goal as something that is doable. There are action plans, rather than platitudes. Highly recommended to learn how to really set goals.

What I feel like most goal-setting books miss completely, Michael Hyatt has done an excellent job of capturing. Success in setting and achieving goals begins with the right mindset. In Your Best Year Ever, Hyatt walks you through tangible ways to begin changing the way you think before you dive into goal setting. The five-step plan in this book gives you real tools that make you feel in control with some actionable steps you can take toward doing whatever it is you know will create the life you've dreamed of. It brings dreams out from the clouds, and down into your real life. Finally, a goals book that does more than encourage you to "have more will power". This is the real deal.

Easy to read and if you implement the steps outlined it will help you create a crystal clear path to your best year ever. I have done goals setting for over 42, since I had my first management job with Marriott. I just love the tracking of goals and not doing everything in January but spreading the goals over 4 quarters. It has a great way to track your goals and you just need to take the action!! Great Book!! One that changed my life, just like his book Living Forward, also a change my life book.

This book makes setting up a pathway to the next level in life without sacrificing things precious to you now. Stretching but attainable goal setting and achievement with a momentum building ‘take the next step - now’ approach. Really enjoyable and inspirational. Feeling better equipped for what is ahead and helping to direct the outcomes I’m called to.

I read a lot about productivity, and I learned a lot from this book. After reading it, I reviewed my goals for 2017 and could figure out exactly why I achieved some but not others, and this has led me to make some changes as I reflect on 2017 and look forward to what I hope to accomplish in 2018. Hyatt also provides templates for goal setting and habit sitting to use as examples. Overall, I highly recommend this book for its insights and tools. Read my full review at beingincommunity dot com.

How many of your New Years resolutions did you complete last year? How many do you even remember?

If your answer to either of these questions was lower than you would have liked then the book Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt should be the next book you read.

Michael Hyatt takes us through his 5-step plan for achieving our most important goals. He discusses overcoming our past and our mental obstacles. He shows us how to formulate goals for success, and he gives us the tools to help keep us on track through the finish.

For those of us that want to make progress in our lives and goals, this book gives needed insight. We do not understand how we are setting ourselves up for failure. Hyatt shows us that our limiting beliefs and our past can hold us back but do not have to define us. He shows us that the list of goals that we wrote out last year are not actionable and how to craft goals we can actually accomplish. He also reminds us that difficulty will come, but explains how to overcome that difficulty.

I highly recommend this book. It provides the knowledge base to succeed and make this "Your Best Year Ever."

This is essentially the book-length exclamation of the principles behind Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner. But the book is helpful without buying that planner, and thankfully, the book doesn’t feel like an advertisement.

(Having said that, the Full Focus Planner is the easiest way to implement these principles.)

Note: I received a free advance copy of this book, but I’m not paid or required to give a positive review.

Then I had to go back and take smaller bites of the insights, techniques, and wisdom found at almost every page!

Then this weekend, I spent two full days implementing that wisdom using Michael’s techniques and action plans from the book and as a result I can’t express how excited I am for tomorrow. Thank you Michael for listening to your daughter!

If you are looking to have a year unlike any other, this is a must-read. The simple approach that Michael has is incredible. Not simple in an easy way, he admits this takes work. Simple in terms of seeing what needs accomplished and going after it.
The layout of the book is really nice as well. If you like things broken down into steps, the "tabs" on the right of the pages make it easy to navigate where you would like to go.
This is a book to read again and again and buy for people close to you!
Well done Michael Hyatt and looking forward to a great year.

This is an easy read but that doesn't detract from its power. Balancing life and work is a never ending struggle and Your Best Year Ever provides a simple recipe for outlining and achieving your goals. I will be using the tools in this book to plan the direction of my year, rather than drift through the next 12 months.
