Great book! Jaycee has been making huge improvements since her last book. You can even tell by the way she writes... she is more knowledgeable and lively. I would definitely recommend to another person!

I have enjoyed this book very much. I was surprised to find a healthy outlook and sense of humor in it, especially from the start. It does not pick up from the last book, but I appreciate that very much. I feel it was more from an independent/personal outlook. Reading about all the new fears and frustrations, funny moments and silly thoughts, I was able to connect on a personal level in many different ways. I was slightly distracted by the grammatical errors. As a avid reader/writer it is a curse and a blessing. But, it does not take anything away from the novel in any way. I can help with that :-)

Jaycee Dugard's first book was compelling, but, unfortunately, there isn't much revealed in this sequel. My heart goes out to this family and all they've suffered, plus I admire Jaycee's foundation to help others. The book was a letdown, yet it's hard to criticize considering her amazing story.

I absolutely loved her first book. I was excited for this book and felt mildly disappointed during the first few chapters. I had trouble connecting with some of her experiences and the simple prose. But I pushed through, and I am glad I did. I appreciate her outlook on life and perspective - she acknowledges her contempt and anger but does not let that taint her positive attitude. She is human. She acknowledges that 18 years in "the backyard" affected her education (or more lack of) and maybe that is why she has such simple prose, but I find it to be refreshing. Because above all, she now knows who she is so she can be free to he herself. And that is the takeaway. Let that be a lesson to us all - we can all get stuck in "the backyards" of our own negativity or personal tragedies. But as long as there is hope and will, we can transform and evolve into our truer selves one new experience at a time.

Status update. What stands out is the implied celebrity status . Often thought she was recognized when it never happened. Even to the point of offering her autograph a nd have her picture taken and being mistaken. Living a nice life without no real job or skills. Has not returned to school. Happy as she is with her horses. Wonderful support group. Does not say where s he lives. Even the state is omitted. No reference who is the father of her two children. No reference of visits tion to the kidnapping father. Seems well adjusted s with a quick smile. Pleasant young lady e 8th two happy children, but a disappointing read.
