Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen (1996-01-01)

I liked how descriptive the book was, it was like i was there with Brian through his journeys. I also liked how this book actually taught me a thing or two about survival. Would recommend this book to anyone, young or old, that loves the outdoors and/or survival.

I enjoyed reading the book myself. I teach 7th Grade Language Arts and most of my students enjoyed reading the book as well. Students who enjoy the outdoors and adventure will like the book. I would suggest that people read Hatchet first. I have read Brian's Return and The River and I think that students will enjoy these books, too. Many of my students like to read Gary Paulsen.

The whole Gary Paulsen series beginning with "Hatchet" contain stories that really seem to grasp the imagination of young men. I use them regularly in tutoring young men in reading and reading comprehension.
