Unseen fell flat about midway through and never recovered. Especially annoying was the exaustive detail of every single meal eaten by every character (I am not kidding). Don't read this book if you are dieting! Otherwise a good read but by far not his best work.

. . . you don't mind one dimensional characters holding fast to ideals like "good guys are conservative right-wingers, dumb guys are weak-willed liberals, bad guys are dark-skinned Muslims."

. . . you don't mind erratic plot pacing that can cover one 3-day mission in 200 pages, and the next mission in 2 pages.

. . . you like absurd comic books expanded into 500 page novels.

. . . you like Tom Clancy's stories, but don't care for Clancy's nuance, drama, realism, or respect for the reader.

The only reason I completed this book was to see how the literary train-wreck ended; a sort of morbid curiousity.

This is the first Patrick Robinson I have read and may be the last. While he does spin a reasonable techno-thriller, the story jumps often and leaves many unfinished threads. His story is not smooth and his research appears to be limited. As a former submarine officer, I can enjoy a far fatched plot, but don't really want to read a poorly developed or reached novel. Clancy still does it better than anyone. Forsyth's "Fist of God" is a well researched also.

This is another book that follows the same template as his previous book. IE a lone and very intelligent terrorists taught by a western admiral and is in love with the admiral's daughter. Very enjoyable though as the plot is quote original inspite of the template style. Author has a good understanding of submarines.

Amazing plot and beginning. This is the first Patrick Robinson book I've read, and will read others. However, while the beginning and middle were filled with excitement and suspense, the end seemed to grind to a halt. Still, a very good book.

Patrick Robinson, has created another excellent follow up book to Nimitz Class & Kilo Class. Detailed and well researched, this story continues the intrigue that was evident in Kilo Class. This book is well worth the read.
People have compared him to Tom Clancy, but this does not do Robinson justice.
Read it and enjoy.

There's a beautifully detailed journey, across Scotland and Ireland, before the book settles down into a smaller story of Adnam's personal quest for some kind of redemption. I find Robinson's telling fast, at times thrilling, but in the end cold and too technical.

The journey continues as Comander Ben Adnam returns to the icy depths with a new target.
Robinson takes you to the action like no other. Magnificent detail, clinical accuracy and chilling realism make this book a must in the Arnold morgan series.

I have nothing productive to say except that I finished the book on principle alone. I just wanted to be able to say that I had actually read the worst book ever written!
Sorry I can't recount a more detailed review but you have to read it to believe it!

A great read, something that is all to rare these days. Commander Adnam was a really interesting character. I am looking forward to reading the other books Robinson has written. I highly recommend this book and Nimitz Class!
