This was another fantastic effort by Julia Spencer-Fleming. You really need to read the series in order to follow the relationships of the various characters. The only problem is that the author doesn't write quickly enough!

This series continues to be top notch! But, seriously, I'm so glad I read this book in the summer since the plot takes place in a deadly cold winter. I absolutely recommend this book and the series.

This book is not up the level the author established for herself. Not the best writing convoluted and she has thrown in everything except the kitchen sink to try to save it...COME BACK JULIA we miss you...

I love this series, but this book blew the previous ones out of the water. I couldn't put it down and am DYING for the next instalment ! The mystery perhaps wasn't quite as well crafted, but the character development was amazing. BUY THIS BOOK.

I was disappointed in this title for I really liked the others in the series. The relationship between Clare and Russ was more interesting when they were not married. Now they have nothing in common except sex.

I love the way Julia Spencer Fleming writes and I love her mysteries about Claire and Russ.. This one doesn't disappoint. It continues their saga and has a plot full of twist turns and suspense. My only problem is it takes so long until another adventure will appear.

Loved this novel, like all of her others. This was a case of "If anything can go wrong, it will." Many places where I couldn't read fast enough. Hated to have it end and waiting impatiently for the next chapter in the lives of Russ and Clare

This latest installment in this series of Claire and Russ's journey together brings back the magic of the books earlier in the series. Great mystery. Great conflict. Great resolution. And a hanger to look forward to for the next one! Welcome back Julia! This one is a winner.

Julia Spencer-Fleming has done it again. She continues to bring us stories of Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alystyne that keep me up into the wee small hours of the morning, reading until my eyes cannot focus. I am not complaining, just stating her books are almost impossible to put down until you get to the last page. Then you find yourself looking to see if there is another book of hers you haven’t read yet.
This story covers a period of about one week for the folks in Millers Kill during an ice and snow storm of the century. The weather problems are compounded many times over by murder, arson, drug gangs, ex-husbands, a kidnaped child and other problems that you will have read to find out about. I do not want to give anything away to folks that have just met the folks of this small Adirondack community. BUT, get this series of books and enjoy, enjoy.

I love this series!! The continuing saga of Russ and Clare is never hokey or contrived. The author keeps the characters on course and provides intricate plots, interesting scenarios, honest dialogue and a twist or two you don't expect.

Mrs. Fleming has an incredible way of leaving you wanting more. Russ's ambivalence about Clare's pregnancy, their jobs in jeopardy, a horrible ice storm, and Hadley's huge worry create an amazing cliffhanger.

The characters are true to form (they are as compelling as ever) and the novel lives up to its title. It's a dark tale that makes Russ and Clare's marriage difficulties pale in comparison. Verisimilitude -- why dost thou speakest so?

This seemingly unlikely pair of town leaders have enchanted me from the first novel, In the Bleak Midwinter, to this most recent one. Don't wait for the paperback. This whole series is worth the cost of buying in hard cover. Will give more details later.

As Julia Spencer Fleming is a practicing attorney, part-time author, we often have to wait for a year, or more, to read of the escapades of Reverend Clare Fergusson and Police Chief Russ Van Alstyne. As always, "Through the Evil Days" was a great thriller with action in our local cities and venues (upstate New York) with current, realistic issues -- such as proposed consolidation of law enforcement services. Since their introduction, Clare and Russ have been characters who draw us back for more -- not just me (the mystery reader) but also my husband (a retired police sergeant). Can't wait for the next chapter!!
