This book exceeded my expectations even though I do own many other FOR DUMMIES books. It starts out on what your body is made of and how cells reproduce and create energy. After a decent introduction to some cell biology it moves through each system of your body and tells you all about it and at the end list some common disorders and problems associated with it. I learned a lot about myself and how my body works. I would recommend for anybody interested in a good introduction to Anatomy & Physiology. I am 32 and just have an interest and learning and I liked it a lot. I would probably say anyone studying the subject in school or college might not find this book useful, because it is just a detailed basic introduction. If your wanting to go really deep or further into it I would say spend some more money on an extensive research book into the subject.

I bought this as a supplementary text for a college level course I am taking in a foreign language so that I would know what the English terms are and how they are spelled. It is a pretty simple and straightforward book and it suits my needs, but it is definitely not all that comprehensive. I don't need or want a comprehensive book--just something that will help me understand the basics and not give me a lot of extra information I don't need to know for the tests. I am relatively happy with it, though it doesn't always contain all of the information I need to know.

Thing is, I haven't read or studied anything about this subject since high school. Now that I read quite a few on different subjects I needed badly a brush up on anatomy and physiology and that was exactly what I found in this easy guide. I was able to refresh concepts and learn some others, although you can't remember every name or specific detail, but the book is always handy in case of need. It's startling to realize how complex are human beings, particularly at the level of cell interactions such as metabolism and the immune system, that makes you wonder on life itself. Human body also fail and this book dedicate a space to explain the common diseases of each system and provide some tips to stay healthy. Great overview.

Anatomy and Physiology for Dummies

Great book! Easy to read and understand! Used it while taking an EMT class, and it was very beneficial.

Informative and insightful, verbose but cogent. And I learned a great deal about what the title suggests and then some. There could be more humor as teaching involving humor is better memorized/understood. However, the authors seem to have a disdain, or an in your face disgust, for anyone who believes in a creator of any sort. This was of no concern to me until I got to the last chapter, page 323, where the authors say humans are apes. 'Compared with other apes, the human buccal apparatus (mouth) is puny.' Looked as I was able in any other book or dictionary and apes are never defined as another type of human or vise versa, except for the ape like behavior of sports fans. This was very disappointing to find at the end of an otherwise well written book. Pitiful that the authors are so closed minded to others beliefs on the creation/evolution of the human body. They could have easily dropped all the references to this and the result would have been even more sales. Never let ego get in the way of profit! I will, however, continue to shop for the dummies books. My classical education should have been this much fun.

I bought this to supplement my human anatomy studies, as I find the textbook horribly bland. this book certainly adds levity to a mild subject and provides more than adequate information to help with my introductory human anatomy course. but like any science subject, reading only gets you a third of what's needed to pass. the other two-thirds involves rigorous study, haha. if it included audio transcripts, software based practice tests and flash cards then I would have given it five stars.

I passed this course with an A!!!!! My professor asked how was I able to pass this course with me being out of school for such a long period of time.
I told him about this book and I brought it to class. When I went back to class the next week the majority of my classmates had this book.
This book was very helpful book.
I recommend this book for anyone who has been out of school and who has trouble studying Anatomy. I will make your life easier.
I will purchase again from the seller.

This book is very good and informative. I reduced one star because author should have explained the concepts with more diagrams then and then. And some concepts are more little professional which ay not needed for readers who read for general knowledge.
