Troy the teacher and Grace the flower store girl that has hidden who she is and where she came from, the road to that discovery takes patience and trust. I loved this story as well as the rest in that series. Robyn Carr is a master storyteller.

My least favorite of the series So much more could be done with the story. This was a huge disappointment. Twice in the story the author could have developed it more to give some excitement, but she ended it right away. Hopefully her next book is better.

This book was a huge disappointment. It does not have a point. The story is good but there is no end. It is like a preview of the real story. I kept looking for something to tell me it was a sample. I'm a huge fan of Robin Carr but this was a very big disappointment.

SERIES READING ORDER APPEARS AT THE END OF THIS REVIEW!

Robyn Carr's books are "comfort food" for the romance reader. I have purchased every book that Robyn has published; of course, I have my favorites, so some are better than others for me. ONE WISH is a solid entry in the THUNDER POINT series and although I preferred The Chance and The Homecoming, I still thoroughly enjoyed this charming story of high school social studies teacher Troy Headly, on the rebound after being rejected by Iris McKinley, and Grace Dillon, the owner of a lovely little floral shop who has not told anyone in town about her past as a world-famous young Olympic figure skater.

Troy is a charismatic character; in fact, he's what any gal would love to bring home to mom and dad, despite his recent heartbreak. Grace, too, is an extremely likeable heroine, though she's vulnerable and carries a lot of emotional baggage caused by circumstances surrounding her decision to leave professional figure skating. Troy and Grace, strongly attracted to each other, gradually begin a relationship which morphs from friendship to "friends with benefits," and rather quickly turns into a deeper closeness than either of them expected to find so soon. Troy steps up to the plate with Grace very quickly; despite his former serious interest in Iris, as soon as he realizes that Grace's feelings for him are real, he gets over his former crush in lightning speed.

Miss Carr's strength lies in her ability to write characters who touch the hearts of her readers, and ONE WISH is no exception. Although the narrative relies too heavily on monologue to establish Troy and Grace's relationship and growing closeness (they spend a bit too much time giving lengthy descriptions of their pasts, their interests, and their intentions, and as I reader I'd have much preferred to see many of these speeches presented as action or plot rather than monologue), there is still no denying that I cared for these characters and was with them each step of the way as they made their way through more than one challenge (no spoilers here!) to find their way to each other and to their HEA. Was it predictable? Absolutely; even some of their crises were clichéd...but I don't care, because I have fallen in love with Thunder Point, just as I did with the Virgin River Series before it, and I look forward to every story. Thus, 4 stars for me.

What's to love in ONE WISH? The scenes with Al and Ray Anne; their romance is so heartfelt and so full of promise and appreciation that it made this book better for me. It's always a pleasure when Miss Carr brings back favorite characters in her series. We hear from Cooper and Sara, Scott and Peyton, Seth and Iris, and the "golden girls" of Thunder Point who gather for their occasional "wine and whine" session! We are also introduced to a new character whose story tugs at a reader's heart...Ray Anne's cousin's daughter Ginger, who has been through two crushing heartbreaks and is sent to Thunder Point by her distraught parents who are praying that "Aunt Ray Anne" can help Ginger find the will to live again. Ginger is one of the most compelling characters Carr has written, and I can't wait to see her journey. ONE WISH also includes a visit from Virgin River series characters Denny and Becca, and a mention of the other folks in Virgin River, as Troy talks about potentially travelling that way to see some acquaintances who share his love of outdoor activities and sports...dare we hope, Miss Carr? Finally, the end of the book takes us to a special wedding (we knew it was coming; not Troy/Grace) at which a number of our Thunder Point friends meet the extended family of one of our other beloved Thunder Point characters...which sets up the next story very nicely...but no hints here! I will say that I am truly looking forward to the next storyline; it sounds like it could be one of Carr's best. Robyn Carr is my #1 "feel-good" read!

AUDIOPHILES: I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook narration (I purchase the ones I want to re-"read" from Audible.com, but they are all also produced in audio CD versions carried by many public libraries). I've listened to each title in the series; they're narrated by the incomparable Therese Plummer, who brings every character to life. And if you haven't read the VIRGIN RIVER series, RUN to your book provider and find it! For a list of the correct Virgin River series reading order, please click on my name (above) and see my review of the first book, titled VIRGIN RIVER; for me, it's Miss Carr's finest book.

THUNDER POINT SERIES READING ORDER (this series is best read in order):
1. The Wanderer - retired Army pilot (Hank) Cooper & pilot Sara Dupre
2. The Newcomer -- Deputy Sheriff Mac McCain & waitress Gina James
3. The Hero -- coach Spencer Lawson & single mom Devon McAllister
4. The Chance -- auto mechanic Eric Gentry & FBI agent Laine Carrington
5. The Promise -- Dr. Scott Grant & PA Peyton Lacoumette
6. The Homecoming -- Deputy Sheriff Seth Sileski & HS guidance counselor Iris McKinley
7. One Wish -- HS teacher Troy Headly & florist Grace Dillon
8. A New Hope --(expectedly, Ginger's story) to be published 6/30/15

Very disappointed! Normally I love Robyn's books... This was way to amateurish.....like a first harlequin romance.... Robyn normally does much better with characters and story lines. All of a sudden...it just ended. And I was glad. Again...very disappointing! ???

One Wish is part of the Thunder Point Series by Robin Carr. These books can be read as stand alone or as a series. One Wish is the first book that I have read in the series and I had no problem following along.

Throughout this book we follow Grace and Troy. Two people who have gone through so much heartbreak but for such vastly different reasons. Sometimes that is just what it takes to bring to people together.

While following Grace and Troy through their trials and tribulations we are introduced to a lot of supporting cast. The one that plays the most prominent part is Ray Anne a local realtor in their little town. I found that the characters were well written and described, and that enough of a background was given so that you understood what/where they were coming from.

The most growth I believe throughout the entire book though was Troy. Always the easygoing and fun one, he learns that all is not what it appears after he beings seeing Gracie (as he likes to call her) and he loses his easygoing ways at some of her revelations. The character that he develops through this process makes him my favorite character in the book.

Their was one part of the book though that threw me for quite a loop. I was reading along learning more about Grace and Troy when all of the sudden the next chapter was about Ray Anne and her boyfriend Al. I found that the transition from one story to the other just wasn’t an easy transition. I actually wondered if I was reading two different stories. Further on in the story the author makes the connection to Grace and the main story that made me understand why they were included in the book.

I wish the transition back and forth between the two stories was seamless all the way through as it did make things a little hard to follow once and awhile, but I found the overall book to be a wonderful read.

Favorite Quote: “I’m writing a letter to the city council. I think it’s unprofessional for a police office to laugh until he farts.”

My Review: ✭✭✭✭✭
I have already read books 1 through 6 and 8. So here’s book #7 in the Thunder Point series. Robyn Carr is one of my favorite romance authors and this series is almost as good as her Virgin River series.

Grace Dillon is trying to make a new life for herself. She’s walked away from fame and fortune and is arranging flowers in her own flower shop, Pretty Petals. She loves her new life and all the new friends she has. But how long can she keep her secret?

Troy Headly is a high school teacher and is quite taken with the attractive florist. Is he up to dealing with the reality once the secret is revealed?

Ms. Carr did a great job of creating the characters for this story. Grace is a really friendly person with a background she doesn’t want to discuss. She’s got a way of keeping the conversation away from things she doesn’t want to talk about without hurting anyone’s feelings. Ms. Carr does a really good job of making her a little different in her speech and thoughts since she had such a strong Russian influence from her coach of so many years.

Then there’s Grace’s mother and her crisis. Her mother is a large part of the story, though she isn’t present until close to the end. Winnie is well-written. I felt great compassion for the woman dealing with her health issues and just trying to do what she felt was the right thing before it was too late. I thought Grace and Winnie interacted well, though I almost expected more fireworks from them. Their relationship was obviously based on love but terribly strained by the profession and finances.

Robyn Carr has a great series here and I strongly recommend it to any romance reader who hasn’t already discovered her talent with words.

I love the relationship that develops between Grace and Troy. Though they start as friendly acquaintances, they quickly and easily move into something more. Once again Carr captures the fluidity of real life, the ease of deepening feelings as time goes by. But unlike the average person, Grace is keeping a pretty big secret – one that will have an impact on her relationship with Troy. Captured beautifully, the way they figure out whether they can move on together is very touching and makes for a true Carr ending.

Emotional, full of warmth and heartbreak, offset with humor and fun, One Wish highlights why Thunder Point is one of my favorite places to visit.

I have enjoyed all of the books in the Thunder Point series, but One Wish is not Robyn Carr's best work.

The storyline focuses on the developing relationship between Grace Dillon, the owner of the local flower shop, and Troy Headly, a dedicated high school teacher who loves extreme sports and adventures. Unbeknownst to the town, Grace has left behind a stellar past as an Olympic Gold medalist figure skater to create a new life for herself away from the ruthless competition of professional sports and the pressures of her demanding mother. At first she and Headly are determined to focus on fun to keep the relationship free of long-term expectations: in other words, friends with benefits. Predictably they fall in love in spite of their intentions and reach a crisis point when "complications" arise in Grace's life.

While I found the characters likeable, I thought the storyline too predictable and the dialogue was often stilted and formal. For example, when Grace reveals that she is a virgin before their first love making, Troy's response seems too stiff and "canned" - more a proclamation than true communication about intimacy. The resolution of the challenges in their relationship also seemed overly simplified and abrupt.

I recommend the book for those who have been following the series, but if this is your first exposure to Carr's work, you may be left with the wrong impression of her talent. She has a wonderful ability to create believable characters, weaving together the lives of members of a small community in a remarkably entertaining way. This book is just not the best representation of that talent.

One Wish by Robyn Carr, is one of the best romance novels that readers will find. This one story deals with several issues such a daughter being forced to live the dream that her mother wanted but never had. Grace Dillon is a daughter of a wealthy socialite who is tough and demanding. Soon, they both lose a father and husband who was also a coach for his daughter Grace. Grace struggled with a kidnapping, stalkers, and now she is dealing with her mom’s health issue. Winnie only has so much time left to live and she wants nothing more than to apologize and be with her daughter Grace. Grace left the ice rink at age 23 and built a whole new life for herself as a flower girl. She has made great friends who help her through life as she reconnects with her mom and her new relationship with Jake. Grace dropped the bomb to him about her being pregnant but Jake is struggling with the issue if he and Grace still will be a good fit now that she has inherited a huge amount of money from her mom. Can two lives be connected despite their social differences?

Robyn Carr brings real life issues and shows that no matter what life brings us, that we can succeed and move forward if we are strong enough to embrace it. Grace started off hiding from her rich life and trying to bury herself in a quiet safe little bubble, but then fate brings her back to face her past. Readers can easily relate to this story. A brilliant and well written plot that readers will fall instantly in love with just like I did. Overall, I give One Wish a five out of five stars.

The next book in the Thunder Point series. Grace Dillon is a champion figure skater with medals to show for it. And a very wealthy, demanding mother. Grace left the skating circuit to get away from the pressure of being a skater, the drama and the media. Not to mention her overbearing mother, Winnie. Winnie was a skater in her younger years, but never made the grade. So she is living her life though Grace. Grace now owns and operates the very successful flower shop in Thunder Point, where no one knows where she came from or what she was prior. And that's the way she wants it. Troy Headly is the handsome History teacher in Thunder Point who enjoys the outdoors and is nursing a broken heart after Iris went off to marry her long time sweetheart. He has known Grace who was best friends with Iris, but now is seeing her in a new way. But Grace is afraid if she tells Troy all about her past, he will walk away. I think this my favorite book in the series so far. It took me away from some of the same story lines as were in the Virgin River series. I did though, like seeing her incorporate Denny and Becca from the Virgin River series as Troy's friend. This is a book of friendship, community, love, romance and forgiveness. A fast, wonderful, heartfelt story. Another of Robyn Carr's wonderful work.

4 STARS

I like the community of Thunder Point. This is mainly Grace and Troy's story. But does catch up on a few other couples we have met in previous books. There is some suspense and drama. But mostly just good characters, relationships and good humor. I really laughed at a couple of scenes. Also a few love scenes.

Grace owns the flower shop in Thunder Point. I had no idea about her past before. I like Grace how she is independent, hard worker, good friend and talented. Grace likes Troy but he liked her best friend Iris who just got married.

Grace has a surprising past as a famous figure skater. No one in Thunder Point knows that because she is using only her middle name. Her past catches up to her though.

Troy is a high school teacher, and works at Cooper's bar part time. He is into extreme sports. At first he seems just like a play boy. He wants to show Grace a good fun time playing.

I had to finish reading One Wish till I was done. I enjoy reading Robyn Carr's books. She makes you like the whole community of characters. You never know when a different character would come into the story,

The setting is a small Oregon beach town.

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give a honest review of One Wish.

I really didn't care for this book. I haven't read any other books form this author so I was a little lost several times in the book and honestly, I skimmed or glanced over lots of pages waiting for something interesting to happen. The characters aren't that likeable. Troy decides to teach Grace how to have fun and that fun ends up mainly being making out and having sex. He's an adrenaline hound and it was fun to see it backfire on him at the beginning. Grace is okay as a character. She has never had a boyfriend, due to her upbringing in competitive figure skating, yet she has no trouble making out with Troy at every instance. She has a lot of hurt in her background and that just gets re-hashed all through the book. I'm still not sure who some of the characters were because they randomly pop in and then all of a sudden have a whole chapter. It's really confusing, especially for someone who hasn't read any other of Ms. Carr's books.

This is one of my favorites in the Thunder Point series and probably the only one that might be up for a re-read. I loved it for Grace, one of Carr's best characters. She's both strong and vulnerable, innocent and jaded and shy and sexy. Her relationship with Troy the teacher and friend (and former beau of Iris) is fun and while it follows some of Carr's predictable formula, it has some sad and hopeful moments. Grace's relationship with her mother is a nice touch that I hope Carr runs in the future, since I know she has characters popping up in others' books.

I didn't feel like I got to know Troy as well as I wanted although this was as close as I'd ever come to knowing a hero in any Carr book. She always seems to make them too apologetic and wishy washy which I wish she wouldn't do. Sometimes men are determined! Still, he was as likable as any of the heroes and I loved how he supported Grace when her identity was revealed.

It was nice to read a book in this series that's a potential re-read. As always, it's possible to read this as a standalone (and this more than others) but as characters from other books appear here and there it's always preferable to read it in order in the series.

Grace Dillon was once a champion figure skater until she walked away from it all, leaving her past behind as she forged forward to a new life, a life not filled with the ruthlessness and competition of the sport. Now living in Thunder Point, she runs a thriving flower shop and she is quite proud of the life she created.

High School teacher Troy Headley is determined to show Grace that she needs some excitement in her life, she finds herself drawn to him even as she enjoys all the fun they have together. But when Grace’s past comes back to haunt her, can Troy find a way to show Grace that she is more than a friend with benefits even as love finds a way to steal these two daredevils hearts in the process?

I got to hand it to author Robyn Carr, when she comes out with a Thunder Point novel I always wonder who would be next to find love and happiness. In her new novel set in this picturesque little town, the readers get the chance to see locals Troy and Grace find their way to one another. I enjoy finding out more about past couples as well as seeing some surprise appearances as well in ONE WISH. This time we find out just who Grace Dillon was once upon a time while finding out that falling in love was not part of her plans for a new life sans figure skating. The characters are what make this series so enjoyable in my opinion. They are diverse, complicated and just about as real as you can get. I swore I wanted to go visit Thunder Point and just enjoy the quiet little town with its diverse residents. This author’s writing is tight, delivering a fast paced storyline with a few twists to keep the reader intrigued as well as flipping the pages to see what happens next.

ONE WISH is truly a great read in her Thunder Point series and one that I keep enjoying regardless if it’s my first time to the place or a return visit. The characters are what draw me to this series. They are multi-dimensional and diverse plus quite enjoyable as well. I could see myself walking to the diner or maybe getting flowers from Grace’s shop one afternoon as I took in all that makes Thunder Point so amazing. The characters are really life-like and that is what I think sets Ms. Carr apart from other authors. Her characters are ones you might live next to you or shop/dine in on occasion. This is an author who knows how to let her characters take the lead and let them tell the story.

We met Grace and Troy in past Thunder Point novels and I was thrilled to see them finally getting a happy ending of their own. Grace has secrets from a past she doesn’t talk about but after the hectic life she had growing up, the pressure to perform, compete and win, Grace is determined to live a life of her choosing. Grace is a delight. She is independent, enjoys her and has a nice set of friends. What she didn’t anticipate was finding herself falling for her self-professed ‘fun coach’ Troy Headley. Troy challenges her on all levels and it helps that he is easy on the eyes as well. He was a perfect foil to Grace and one to shake up her safe and predictable world. The sparks flew fast and furious between these two from the moment they decided to be friends with benefits and yet even I could see that these two were meant to be together. The author does a great job in capturing the vulnerabilities of Grace and Troy as well as their strengths. The characters fairly jump off the page and into your living room. The secondary characters continue to charm me and give a hint into their lives even as some new characters turn up that I am really hoping show up in future books.

ONE WISH is truly a great story to curl up with on a lazy afternoon and while to he world moves on, take a visit to this sleepy little town and find out just what makes this series such a delight for many readers. Now I can not wait for the next book in the series to get here as you get a hint of who may be next in cupid’s sight.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement

This was my first Robin Carr novel. I picked up the book because the main character was a figure skater before moving to Thunder Point. As a former skater, I like to read novels that involve the skating world. In my opinion, the author did not seem to know much about skating. While she apparently researched other topics, such as flower arranging, she seemed to have done very little to make the figure skating parts of the story ring true. For example, she referred to Grace as a professional figure skater when she was actually a competitor. The lines between pro and amateur have blurred in the last 20 years, but Grace had supposedly competed in the Olympics. She also used very limited skating vocabulary. Names of skating moves were limited to "axel". All of this being said, the plot was not really affected. It just made the skating back story seem less credible.
Since I have not read this series before, I was lost when the plot skipped suddenly to another group of characters. For those who are regular followers, the transition may not be as awkward. However, I wondered what the connection between these people was. It did not become clear for a while. The book does not stand alone very well unless you skim the catch up sections.
Personally, I found the sex scenes a little cheesy.
Overall, a quick read that is reasonably enjoyable.

Once in a while the old softie surfaces and craves that nostalgic, cozy sensation only a small town romance can deliver. And if the small town romance happens to unfold in, say, a craggy beach town in Oregon, it probably means that another Thunder Point novel has dropped. One Wish falls seventh in Robyn Carr's continuing saga about the challenges and quiet complexities of life in a rugged community. It introduces another character with whom you're guaranteed to fall in love. In Thunder Point, unassuming Grace Dillon operates a modestly thriving flower shop. Grace keeps a secret. She used to be a celebrated figure skater who once won championships and gold medals. But that was a cutthroat world, and Grace became disenchanted - and maybe her ever pushy mom played a part in that. Some years ago Grace chucked it all - fame, fortune, thrill of competition, sports goddessery, martinet of a mother - for the solitude and serenity of a new life in Thunder Point, a place where no one knows she once was famous and a place where, I guess, no one had ever read about or seen a professional ice skating event on TV or YouTube.

But, of late, a smidge of discontent has snuck up on Grace. She's missed out on so much for so long, what with her all-consuming career on ice not having allowed for the normal pleasures of growing up. She'd never had a boyfriend, had barely gone out on dates. To the rescue comes Troy Headly, sexy high school teacher and avid outdoorsman. Troy harbors a ruined heart, casualty of the marriage of his longtime crush (and Grace's BFF), Iris, to another man (in The Homecoming (Thunder Point)). Two lonesome singles, Troy and Grace agree to be friends with benefits, easy-peasy, no strings attached. But what happens when Grace's past catches up to her? I guess someone in Thunder Point found out about YouTube.

As per usual, and one of the recurring delights of this series, we get to catch up with past characters. What with the citizenry all up in everyone's business, the book devotes moments to how heroines from past books are in various states of pregnancy. So, yay, life goes on. But, of course, the narrative always comes back to Grace and Troy. As the romantic male lead, Troy is meh to me. Sure, he's a stand-up guy, but, really, there's nothing about him that separates him from the generic good guy love interest. It's Grace who grabs my attention with a vise-like grip. Maybe it's because Robyn Carr really is exceptional at writing her female protagonists. Maybe it's because I used to be an avid fan of figure skating (sue me, yeah, it's morbid, but that whole Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding scandal drew me in like old folks to Salonpas pain patches). But I really cared about Grace. I sympathized with her cold, barren childhood and how, basically, she never had a childhood. There's an innocence and a vulnerability about her that I found endearing. At the same time, I appreciate that she was strong enough to change her fate and escape her old life and make a new one for herself. And when a family crisis arises, oboy does she ever step up. Oh, man, it's always a challenge to review a Robyn Carr book, and I end up saying the same damn things. Robyn Carr at her word processor is like that good cook who crafts comfort food. Robyn Carr writes with humor and populates her stories with wonderfully etched characters that feel like they could be your neighbors around the block. In these pages you'll find a sense of solace, adventure, and adversity, and a slow burn romance, and condemnation of stage parents and perhaps the forgiving - if not the condoning - of them, and catching up with old friends, and a hilarious taser incident, and, always, always, the steadfast spirit of a community that pulls together. Yeah, it's another good read. What else is new?

With "One Wish", I had another lovely visit "home" to author Robyn Carr's fictional community of Thunder Point, Oregon. Amid the rugged coastal beauty of this charming little town and its surroundings, longtime residents and newcomers find friendship, a real sense of belonging, and sweetly sensual romance. "One Wish" tells the story of Grace Dillon, who moved to Thunder Point to leave behind a troubled past and make her way to a happier future. Unbeknownst to those in her adopted home place, Grace was once a championship figure skater. She walked away from the fame and glory at the height of her career, greatly disappointing her hard-driving mother, who had also been a renowned skater. Grace wanted more from life than the punishing hours of practice and personal sacrifices that came with being on top in her profession--she wanted a real life, a life that offered her the freedom of making her own personal choices. Troy Headly, a popular high school teacher, had come to Thunder Point because the teaching position offered him a chance to be close to the water, where he could pursue his love of the outdoors. Grace and Troy had a mutual friend, Iris, from whom Grace had purchased the flower shop which, although demanding, gave her such satisfaction. Grace had a serious crush on Troy, but he carried a torch for Iris, who married her childhood friend Seth. Things change, however, and as awareness of Graces grows on Troy, she hopes that she's not just a rebound romance. Grace, for all her former celebrity, actually has lived a very sheltered personal life. Troy treats her with respect and gentleness, bringing out her fun side and her great laugh. Grace already knows she's in deep water with her feelings, and Troy is trying to sort through all of his unexpected thoughts about a real relationship with Grace. The things you run from always run right beside you--you can never really leave them behind until you face them down. When the past finds Grace, will the companionship and attraction between them prove to be something much more? Will a future filled with loving joy be theirs for the taking? Come home with me to Thunder Point. I promise you will enjoy the journey, and it's one that you will want to make again and again.

Ok first I have to say I was taken out of the book for a bit when I realized that Troy is Denny’s friend, Denny from Virgin River. Troy’s full time job is high school teacher, but he works part time at Cooper’s bar.

9780778317722_p0_v2_s260x420Um ok wait a minute. I know Ms. Carr likes to connect her books and I like that but this felt a little too much of a push to me a bit contrived. Cooper and Troy never met during the Virgin River series but both stopped in and yet they both end up in the same small town in Oregon? Really? Just a bit too much “it’s a small world” for me. Denny even visits during this book and stops into to Coop’s place to say hi. Fortunately this is a very small part of the book and one I was able to get past fairly quickly.

Grace has been hiding something from her new friends in Thunder Point, something she really doesn’t want anyone to know. Grace is a former world class, gold medal champion figure skater who wanted out of the spotlight. She was miserable in that life and has reinvented herself. Her flower shop is exactly what she wants and while life isn’t as fun as maybe she’d like Troy is determined to help her with that.

I really enjoyed this new visit to Thunder Point. I loved watching Troy realize he’s falling in love with Grace, that this isn’t just fun anymore it’s so much more. Watching him be strong for her is a great thing. Grace discovering she can be all parts of herself and be accepted by her friends is easier for her to understand than learning how to accept all parts of her herself. Another great book, can’t wait for the next one A New Hope in July, dare I hope there is at least one Star Wars reference in the book due to the title, nah ;) Rest assured no matter what I’ll read it and be writing a review come summer.

Carr weaves magic into her stories giving you all of the feels without unbearable angst. Sure, the couple has struggles as each character needs to grow but it has a realistic approach. I adored the banter and wit that developed with their friendship and the slow surprising heat. Anytime a couple enters a no strings attached relationship I giggle to myself, we all know these things get complicated and I love watched it unfold.
Side stories that grab and hold you are plentiful in One Wish. Rae Anne’s niece of sorts arrives and while the thread was sad, I am anxious to see how it develops. Troy is friends with folks from Virgin River and they visit for a weekend. Carr updates us on previous couples, some vague and some we are feed more. We even attend a wedding, although the focus was on Grace and Troy it was nice to have these threads wrapped into the story. I love that Carr can weave all of these side stories in while keeping me satisfied with the main story. Copy received from publisher, full review at caffeinated book reviewer

"One Wish" is the latest book in Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series. I have read the entire series - some books are suspenseful, some are funny, while this one is more of a story that slowly builds from its starting point to a fairly predictable end. The two individuals in the story (Grace and Troy) get together fairly quickly and learn how to trust one another and share their pasts, their future plans, and their fears.

Their relationship starts as friends and slowly builds. Troy is a local high school teacher and Grace works at the flower shop (there is a fairly funny scene early on with her dressed as a witch at Halloween.) Grace has a past history as a champion ice skater that she is hiding from her new friends.

My only problem with this story is the speed with which Troy gets over his infatuation with another character and gets involved in a physical relationship with Grace. It made me think a little less of him and wish for something a little better for Grace. By the end of the book, I was on-board with their relationship but during the early phases, I was wishing for something else.

The story, while enjoyable, was pretty straightforward. It also had some updates on couples and individuals from other books. It introduced a couple of new characters and plot points for future stories. I really like this series and recommend to those who like romance books in an on-going series.

While I enjoyed this book, it seemed to drag a bit from the middle to the end. This is only the second book I read in this series, and it appeared that characters from other books, that I did not read "showed up" in this book. You can read the books independently, but honestly I did not care about the characters that showed up, since I did not know their back story.

I did not really care much for the title character in this story either. Too much sympathy was asked for her, which I did not honestly feel she deserved. Also I will add that the story could have happened anywhere. What I though of "Thunder Point", the beach etc, wasn't mentioned much at all.

Sort of disappointed in the story.

Book 7 of Robyn Carr’s Thunderpoint series. As the book begins we meet Grace, the florist shop owner introduced to us in The Homecoming but it’s as if we are meeting an entirely new individual, or learning new aspects of her life barely hinted at in the previous book. Troy, the high school teacher with interests in skiing and river rafting, was introduced in Book 6 as well but here the focus has shifted to their relationship. The timeline continues seemlessly taking up where Book 6 left off.

Romance is not my normal genre so there are conventions here that are new to me. One of them seems to be that the happy couple go through perilous trials on the way to marital bliss but that ending always seems to be inevitable. Somehow it doesn’t seem realistic to me that every liaison have a happy ending however....

It is the character development and the sense of place that makes these novels worth the read. These people seem real to us, they are not cut out figures who end up in twisted bedsheets with clothes scattered along the way.

What works about this story
I love it when the characters enter into a relationship with eyes wide open. Grace and Troy promised each other nothing but to enjoy their time together. No denials about getting serious, nor any discussion of commitments. They just got to know and respect each other. I liked both of them, a lot. And, I really liked their relationship. When things got rough for Grace, Troy stepped up as a friend first and then a lover.

The bottom line
I loved everything about the story, especially the romance. As with all the books in this series, other residents of Thunder Point have their moments and Rawley's was priceless. It's what makes the stories special...like comfort food for the soul. I never want this series to end.

This is the type of romance we dream of AND have a chance of obtaining for ourselves. I enjoyed seeing the mundane, everyday tasks mixed with the dubbing romance, giving a full-fledged real life feel to the story. It is an emotionally fulfilling tale that entertains you along the way. Carr writes in such a manner that you can’t help but become wrapped up in the story.

Carr’s characters are real people. I feel as if I could walk next door and chat with them. As if I was spending time with some long lost friends. She takes the time to develop her characters pasts and correlate them with the present. It was great to see Troy become something more than just a fun loving free wheeler was great. The intensity and heartache of Grace’s past life stands in stark contrast to who she is today. The complexity of this character (as with so many others written by this author) make the world of contemporary romance a joy to delve into. This well-developed presentation makes you feel right at home.

This story was great as a novel on its own and fantastic as part of the Thunder Point series. Carr brought me back to a world that was a joy to read about and definitely made a mark on my heart.

What I really love about the Thunder Point series is that I know that when I pick one of these books up I know I'm guaranteed to have a good time, they are quick, easy reads that are addictive and extremely hard to put down.

With a cast of characters that are both engaging and loveable, it's always a pleasure to re-immerse myself back into the small town of Thunder Point and it's residents.

Ex-Olympic gold medal winning figure skater Izzy Banks, now known as Grace Dillon and Thunder Point's florist, and local high school history teacher Troy Headly are both lonely, that's how they both find themselves spending New Year's Eve together, what started out as friends spending time together becomes something more, with Troy wanting nothing serious (or so he tells himself) and Grace hiding her world famous identity can these two get their act together and finally find their well deserved happily ever afters together.

With appearances from various characters throughout the series in this book including some subplots that worked into the story nicely, I eagerly await book eight and Ginger's book which I'm pretty sure will bring on the waterworks.

A great series that only gets better with each and every new release.

One Wish by Robyn Carr is #7 in her Thunder Point series, and hopefully there will be a good number more. Robyn Carr is a highly skilled writer, and One Wish is a perfect example of how she spins a tale, with characters that I love and care about, issues that are real, and a plot that twists and turns and ultimately works out in the end.

One Wish is mainly about Grace and Troy. In the previous book Troy lost out in love, but now it is his turn to find the woman that is perfect for him, so long as he can work out what his self worth is and what he has to give to Grace that has real value. At first take it looks like they are perfectly suited. Troy is all about fun - his aim is to bring fun into Grace's life and enjoy the outdoor pursuits with her that he loves to engage in. However Troy does not know everything about Grace and when he learns all there is to know will it make a difference?

Grace might now be the owner of a successful business in Thunder Point but she has rearranged her name a little and likes to live out of the limelight. She has experienced the tough life of being a top competitor in a sport she loves but left. Although when the going is tough for her - then instead of falling in a heap - Grace shows her steely strength. Her father has died, and her mother - well that's an interesting point. Grace's mother pushed her and lived her life through Grace's success. Now Grace wants little to do with her.

What I love about these books is that we are given little insights into the ongoing lives of others in the town of Thunder Point who are like old friends. There is a little cameo of Rawley - loved that! Ray Ann the town realtor has a slightly larger and more satisfying role and we also have introduced her 'niece' Ginger who is dealing with a very heartbreaking issue - but there is nobody more suited to the task than Ray Ann to help her a little. We even receive a visit from a couple down from Virgin River - no not Jack! To top it all off there is a wedding thrown in and the population of Thunder Point looks ready to explode!

While I'd recommend the complete series, each book could be read on its own.

One Wish is a romance plus, it is more than a simple contemporary romance, it has depth to it, real issues that real people could face. There is a side serving of women's fiction thrown in. For me, my favorite kind of read.

I've been looking forward to this book since I finished the last Thunder Point novel!

Blurb
Grace Dillon was a champion figure skater until she moved to Thunder Point to escape the ruthless world of fame and competition. And though she's proud of the quiet, self-sufficient life she's created running a successful flower shop, she knows something is missing. Her life could use a little excitement.

In a community where there are few eligible singles, high school teacher Troy Headly appoints himself Grace's fun coach. When he suggests a little companionship with no strings attached, Grace is eager to take him up on his offer, and the two enjoy…getting to know each other.

But things get complicated when Grace's past catches up with her, and she knows that's not what Troy signed up for. Faced with losing her, Troy realizes Grace is more than just a friend with benefits. He's determined to help her fight for the life she always wished for but never believed she could have—and maybe they can find real love along the way.

I loved this book! Every time I pick up a Thunder Point novel its like I'm coming home and I get to catch up with everyone! I love the cozy feel, like the Virgin River novels! Oh by the way! I loved seeing Denny in One Wish! I might have screamed a little bit when they had a short discussion about Virgin River!! Virgin River is one of my all time favorite series so to add a few characters into One Wish it was awesome!

I loved the relationship between Grace & Troy.. I love the fact that she loved reading! Especially romances!!

Theres a few laugh out moments in the book and they might be my favorite part! Of course the scene with the taser! I think my favorite funny moment is the scene with the wave! I couldn't stop smiling! It was just perfect!

Robyn Carr paints a wonderful world! I want to live in Thunder Point! I think every book she writes I want to live there! I wish Virgin River & Thunder Point were real! Because if they were I'd move there in a heartbeat!

Robyn Carr is one of only 3 authors who I will pick up her book and buy it without even reading the back of the book because I know it will be that good :)

I thought that Grace and Troy each brought out the best in each other. However, the "dark past" of Grace was over exaggerated and should not have been the block that it was.

I liked also how other characters from other Thunder Point stories had small parts in this novel. This type of writing is what makes Robyn Carr's series so enjoyable!

The plot was more of "acquaintance - friend - lovers" type than expected. I also felt that in previous stories Troy had not seemed to be such a nice person and now he was so perhaps the previous stories did not tell the full tale. At any rate, it was a change that was a bit abrupt to me as a reader.

I received this product for free for my unbiased and honest opinion. I was not paid for this. I really wanted to enjoy this series but I do not think this is the type of story for me. The writing appears bland and just does not grab me. These will be likely a slow read for me so I will update if I actually am able to finish. I think it might be due to the fact I am from Washington but need something more from my books from the beginning instead of descriptions of beaches or North Bend.

Right, place me solidly in the auto buy column when it comes to Robyn Carr. This latest entry in the Thunder Point series proves my loyalty is well placed. It's a beautiful love story, set in the kind of I secretly want to live in. The lead characters are wonderfully layered and intriguing, as are the secondary characters - even the town itself has layers, and I discover more with each book. The book can stand on it's own merit, but I recommend the series.

I have been captivated by the Thunder Point series for my summer reading. Each time I finish one I think, "Yep, that was my favorite". I didn't know what to think about this entry when I first started it. The whole "I was a skating star who gave it all up and went for a private life" seemed out of reach to me. But, it turns out, you, guess it, "It's my favorite." In addition to the very in depth story of Grace's life, and the heroic Troy, I found out that one of my favorite characters in the whole series is Ray Anne. Can't wait to get my hands on the next entry in the Thuder Point series.

As in each book in the Thunder Point series, Robyn Carr draws the reader into the little town and captivates with the residents living there. Her stories have you wanting to pull out map and mark the route there for a visit.

Each book builds on the previous one and you won't want to miss any of them. The stories are heartwarming and fun to read.

I am not only giving One Wish five stars, but the entire series. It is one that I have enjoyed immensely, and I think you will too.

Another winner in the Thunder Point series. This time Grace Dillon, the poor little rich girl who had everything, including gold medals for her skating, has escaped to the little Oregon town where no one knows her past or the name she went by in her glory days. But were they really? She doesn't think so. Now she owns a flower shop and wonders if something exciting will ever happen to her, not dangerous-exciting. More like fun-exciting.

Enter Troy Headly, one of the high school teachers, who previously had wooed Grace's best friend, Iris, now married to the deputy sheriff. Troy decides that Grace needs to have a fun coach when he discovers she mostly spends her time working, thinking about work, planning her work, and so on.

In the midst of the fun he introduces Grace to, her life suddenly spirals into one complication after another, beginning with an ominous letter identical to the one that preceded her kidnapping years earlier. Things only get more complicated after that, to the point where Troy begins to wonder what he can possibly offer Grace when all she has to do is crook her little finger to get what she wants. But does she want that? Or just Troy and what he offers?

Can hardly wait for the next installment in the Thunder Point saga.

This latest entry into the Thunder Point canon was a definite miss for me. Grace's character was poorly drawn; I just couldn't muster up a lot of sympathy for a girl whose major life challenges were being really rich and winning Olympic gold. There was no reason I could see for hiding herself and her true identity the way that she did. Troy was also unappealing to me, bouncing as he did from crush to crush, and I found his determination to push for a relationship with someone who clearly stated she wasn't interested to be creepy. For me, neither the characters nor the story were up to Carr's usual standard.

I loved Robyn Carr's Virgin River series, but I was a little disappointed when I started the Thunder Point series. However by the third book, I had fallen in love with this community and its people. This is the seventh book, THE WISH, and it is a wonderful read.
I like Robyn Carr because she develops the characters so well, that we love their personalities. I, also love the fact that Troy (we met him in the last book when he was rejected by Iris for Seth) and Grace, like all of Robyn Carr's heroes and heroines are kind to each other and have great respect for each other even though they may not realize they are in love yet. I also love that Troy and Grace work TOGETHER to solve their problems. And even though Grace lied to Troy about who she was, he didn't become overdramatic, storm out of the house and vow never to see her again. He allows her to explain so that he can understand the reasons for the lie.
All-in-all, Robyn Carr's books are realistic and happy book where we can watch the love grow for the heroes and heroines. Finally, when reading ONE WISH, I had a hard time putting it down to do important things such as eating, sleeping and working.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Thunder Point and Virgin River books. However, this installment in the Thunder Point books doesn't capture my interest. At present, I'm 3/4 of the way through it, and am only now becoming moderately interested. I am not eager to read it. I don't find Troy to be a "hero" I care about or am interested in. For me, I have to "fall in love" with a hero in a romance for the book to be worth my while. I haven't found any depth to Troy. I also find Grace to be bland. There's no spark in the book for me.

Not Ms.Carr's best.

Being such a fan of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series, I have really enjoyed her Thunder Point series. One Wish is book seven in the series.
In One Wish, we get flower shop owner Grace Dillon and high school teacher Troy Headly’s story. I enjoyed getting to know Grace and Troy in the previous book The Homecoming and was looking forward to see where Ms. Carr took their relationship.

Troy decides that Grace needs a little fun in her life so he appoints himself her “fun” coach. As they spend time together they see that there is a major spark between them. They make the choice to let things progress naturally with no talk of commitment, just to have fun and enjoy each other. As they spend more and more time together they soon realize that they have found the one that completes them.

Grace is hiding something and Troy knows it. He lets Grace keep her secret until she is ready to tell him, but her past comes knocking on her flower shop door. I loved that when things got tough for Grace, Troy didn’t falter. He stood by her even when he learned her secret and it had him questioning whether they should stay together. He worked through his issues and realized Grace was worth it.

We get to visit all our favorite Thunder Point residents. We even get a visit from Denny and Becca from Virgin River! That really put a smile on my face, and made me want to go back and visit my Virgin River friends. We also get to meet Ginger. Her story is heartbreaking and I cannot wait to see where Ms. Carr takes Ginger. I will say that a baby BOOM is coming to Thunder Point! So this time around we get lots of baby news and a wedding. I have to say that I do miss the teenagers from the previous books and I hope we get to see more of them in future books.

While One Wish was not my favorite book of this series, it is still a great story. I did enjoy the love story between Grace and Troy. I had some trouble keeping engaged in the story at the beginning, but it is still a wonderful story that will make you laugh and cry. Robyn Carr is my go to author when I just want to read a great love story without all the added crazy.

If you are fan of Virgin River and have not given the Thunder Point series a read, be sure to pick it up. These stories are everything that I have come to love about Robyn Carr books. Family, friendship and love.

Happy Reading!!

My review sent around 1:30 a.m. this morning got kicked back - why I do not know as the store's guidelines were followed. I've had another review
kicked back before for no reason and I'm guessing they get new people reviewing(perhaps they are even overseas) and don't truly understand our language and its nuances. Here goes again! At the very beginning I was thinking "oh oh" and then it developed quickly into an interesting story that held my interest throughout. A nice read with no explicit sexual content that I enjoyed thoroughly. Thank you Robyn Carr for great entertainment!

Grace Dillon owns a flower shop in Thunder Point, but she hasn’t always owned the shop, and she hasn’t always been Grace Dillon. As Izzy Banks, she was a world class figure skater and a gold medalist who, at the age of 23, left the world of fame and competitive sports to settle in a place where she could be known for herself and not her fame.

When her best friend breaks up with Troy Headly, the high school teacher notice’s his ex-fiancee’s friend and begins dating Grace. He’s the professor of fun, and Grace, who always had a crush on Troy, accepts the adventure. Then Grace’s past catches up with her, and Troy must decide what he really wants. Is Grace simply a friend with benefits or possibly the woman he needs to share his life?

I thoroughly enjoyed the latest in the amazingly talented Robyn Carr’s Thunder Point series. It’s chock full of emotion and realism. I struggled with Grace in her efforts to lead a normal life and found myself tearing up when things didn’t go as planned. This is a book I couldn’t put down until I had read the final page. Love it!

My Review:
I really liked the set-up on this one. I felt so bad for Troy in the last book when he didn't win Iris's heart...although I loved her with her hero. But he's so good with Grace and I do like the way that Robyn Carr wrote their connection that began purely as a friendship and then suddenly grew to more...something that Grace has wanted for a while.

And then there's Grace and her whole backstory. LOVE the gold-medal figure skating history and it totally worked with her overzealous mother. I loved that story and how Grace has tried to separate herself from that world and persona, even when the skating is so much a part of her. The story with her mom, with her old coach, with her flower mentors in Portland...it all worked for me.

I also really loved the flower shop setting with Grace's little loft up above. The programs that she's created and the creativity she shows through her designs...it all made for a great ambience in the background of the story. It also showed just how creative and industrious she is. She's good at this business thing despite what her mom thinks.

I liked how Troy is an outdoor adventurer and their initial date on the coast was too much fun. I definitely had some giggles right alongside Grace.

There's also a side story with Rae Ann and her pseudo niece Ginger. It gave a lot of depth to the story and I look forward to seeing where the author takes Ginger's story. I have a feeling she is an upcoming heroine in Thunder Point.

My only real complaint about this book is that there are moments when it seems like Robyn Carr's editors just let her slide with her writing because of who she is. The story will be moving along great and then she'll slip into three pages of passive story telling. It's painful to read, especially when I know how much better she can write.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Four and half stars if I could. Robyn Carr's books are almost always very enjoyable, typically hits rather than misses, and this one doesn't disappoint. You can pick this up without having read any of the other books in the series as any pertinent details are filled in for the reader, and in such a way as to not take up the first half of the novel. The reading is easy and light, with some humor and a little mystery/plot twist. Overall this was a nice, light summer read and, as usual, Ms. Carr has given her fans another pleasurable visit to Thunder Point.

I've read a variety of the Thunder Point novels and this is a decent addition. The heroine is a former ice skating champion who has made a new life for herself in a small town as a florist. The hero works at a high school. I liked the woman's character but felt that the male character was a little short. Just some of the things he felt and said made him not as attractive to me as the average romance hero. The story was sweet and light. The beginning moved pretty fast although it did slow down a little once he found out her secret. Overall a nice beach read.

This series just keeps getting better and better. There are two scenes that were simply hilarious. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I think I laughed a good 20 minutes in the one that dealt with a taser. I had tears coming out of my eyes and my dog just kept side glancing at me wondering if I was going to be okay.

Definitely recommend this one. If you don't read any of the other series, read this one for sure.

I have recently become a big fan of Robyn Carr and the Thunder Point series. In One Wish, we meet Grace, a champion figure skater who returns to Thunder Point for the quiet life. Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series has produced yet another great read. Her characters intertwine from story to story so it's like old, familiar faces in each book, combined with new faces and new twists on romantic involvements.

One Wish is full of surprises, as the newly wed couple, Seth and Iris, from the previous book, mentor a new couple comprised of Troy, Liz's former boyfriend, and Grace, whose secrets are carefully guarded.

Lot's of mystery in this one.

I'm a guy. I've never read a romance novel in my life but I thought I'd give it a try at least once and ONE Wish by New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr was what I decided to pick up. I'd have to say I didn't enjoy this book one bit. Although the characters were well developed, the pace of the story was too slow for me. The story also had a few tangents that went nowhere. There were no plot twists and the story was generally quite predictable.

This was just a little too sweet, predictable, and cheerful for me. The writing style is very simple - short sentences, largely simple words. The characters are cookie-cutter (which I was expecting somewhat, given that it's a romance novel, but really). I read the entire thing in about an hour and a half, and I didn't particularly enjoy it. However, if you like shortish, sweet stories with sweet characters and sweet endings, you will probably like this one. It just wasn't for me.

I always enjoy a visit to Thunder Point. It is a great small town setting where neighbors help you out when you need it and gossip about anyone and everyone. Troy and Grace are friends who are soon more than friends. They are both loving and smart, but Grace has secrets. This series is a great read with lots of re-occuring characters. You don't need to read any previous books to like this one. Family is always an important factor in all these stories.

One of the more tender storylines in the Thunder Point series from Robyn Carr. This one revolves around Troy and a sort of friends with benefits with Grace, that eventually turns into a romance. Breaks away from the woman storyline, which is great. It was steady, and yet predictable, Warming love story.

I love Robyn Carr books. I've read each and every one, I do believe.

I do miss the Virgin River books, the author's last series, but I am enjoying "meeting" the residents of Thunder Point, Oregon.

ONE WISH is the 7th book in Carr's newest series. In it we meet Isabella Grace Dillon Banks, known to the residents of Thunder Point as Grace Dillon, owner of Pretty Petals, the local flower boutique. But the world used to know her as Izzy Banks, champion figure skater.

Turning Grace's head is local high school history teacher (and Grace's fun coach) Troy Headly.

Lots happens in this book - good and bad - so if you're caught up in the series (or just starting it) be sure to read this offering.

Great dialogue, steamy scenes without being gynecological about them, wonderful characters that are down-to-earth, happy and sad scenes that made me cry - all wrapped up in one book.

This book releases February 24, 2015 and the next book in the series A NEW HOPE will be out June 30, 2015 and book 9 WILDEST DREAMS is due out August 25, 2015. That's a huge plus on this series - they come out in threes, fairly close together.

NOTE: I received a free advance copy of this book from Harlequin, via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

Another good story in the Thunder Point series. This is Grace & Troy's story, it shows how growing up with all the money in world isn't all lollipops and rainbows. One Wish is a great addition to the Thunder Point series. I enjoyed this book very much. It was very nice catching up with a couple from Virgin River. Virgin River is the best series I have ever read and Thunder point is definitely one of my favorites. Grace and Troy at first look appear not to have much in common. Then they hang out and realize they are both athletic, love to have fun and being with each other. Their relationship has to endure quite a bit, Grace comes with a good bit of baggage but instead of tearing them apart it makes them stronger. A great read.

Oh Robyn. There will never be another Cooper, will there?
I STILL dream of my own Cooper. He was total man crack.
This guy (good grief I finished the book an hour ago and have already forgotten his name)……Troy! Yes, that's it. He is super unlikeable. He's not sexy at all (I can't even remember a description of him). He seems self absorbed and superficial--even a tad slimy.
Grace was fairly bland. And weepy.
So many sections in this book seemed to be like term papers written on the floral arranging business and how to settle an enormous estate. Good research! Boring reading!
Even catching up with old characters was a chore. Some are getting married, some are preggers, ho hum. I enjoyed them in their previous books but this dragging out of their stories sours the original sometimes. I'd almost rather they lived on in my imagination. It is obvious by introducing Rae Ann's cousin that you are setting up your next book, too.
