This series is so Great, I think if there really was a virginia river we would all be saving our money to go visit with Jack and the Gang. Hope you find ways to continue to write about them. Thank You

I love Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. I really do. However, this book is the same story - two people meet in Virgin River, fall in love, have a personal crisis, resolve crisis, and live happily ever after. I would like to see Robyn Carr provide a different twist from time to time.

This novel is an easy read; pleasant story. Relatively explicit sex ('he removed his condum from his pock....') Good relief from my usual 'murder mysteries'. However, my next novel will be a murder mystery.

Christmas just over 4 days ago and I wasn't ready for it to end so with my kindle fire I bought my first book and chose this one! Absolutely one of the best 'feel good' books ever. Loved it, she'd some tears because of the book and because I didn't want it to end!

This novel was interesting and kept the story pace fairly well. it drug the plot out at first and did not bring enough of the
sub characters into the plot. This book would do well for seventeen year olds aand up but not inteersting enough for boys.

I love to read Christmas stories during the holidays. This one was interesting to read with the two families involved in supporting the main characters and their relationships. Family is so important!!!

I was disappointed in the excessive use of foul language. Also, I do not enjoy reading all the intimate details of someone's lovemaking. It came across as rather pornographic. Too bad because the other parts of the story are well written & the characters were intriguing.

This is my first Robyn Carr book and I liked it well enough to want to read more of her work. It is a light read and enjoyable for a Christmas book. I liked her descriptions of the town and characters. Worth the price!

I'm a fan of most of Robyn Carr's books. I enjoy the complexity of the stories, usually inter-woven throughout each book, as well as the layered interactions. This book had none of that, and was simple and shallow. Young college age girl had a life threatening car accident and decides to argue with her mother, move to Virgin River, and meet hunky Patrick Riordan. Unbelievably gets involved in a plastic surgery and changes her life plans.
OK. That's it.
Save your money and buy this Used, or check it out from the library. Or skip it altogether.

I could not remember reading this book. i found it in my discard box. i only read 1/3 of the book and even that was 1/3 too much. too many irritating characters and the plot was silly. 'my kind of Christmas" is so unforgettable that i forgot it. don't waste money on this.

This is the first and only Robyn Carr book I've read and I expected more. More fully developed characters and more deeply revealing conversations between characters. Characters felt like they were at a first table reading of a script instead of an exchange of conversation between lovers, family and friends.

Over the years, I have read and reread the novels and short stories of Maeve Binchy. Maeve weaves a tale with lots of complex characters, heart , emotion and humor. I was expecting something similar with this novel but while it had great potential and a beautiful setting of Northern California at Christmas it just fell short. I wanted and expected something deeper.

NY Times best sellers stand for something like the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. However, this weak entry reads like it was churned out in a couple days to capitalize on the upcoming holiday season. Not enough for me.

Two of the things I love the most about the Virgin River series is the spirit of community in the town where everyone tends to look after each other, to a fault, and how each book revisits the characters from the past that we've enjoyed. This story doesn't disappoint in those respects as all of the Riordans and the Sheridans (and many others in the town) get in the middle of the developing relationship between Patrick, the youngest of the Riordans and Angie, Jack's oldest niece and his heart. Patrick is home on leave, staying in his brother Aiden's cabin after having witnessed his best friend and flying partner's death in a fire fight. His 4-year relationship with his girlfriend has also collapsed and he's now reconsidering his military career. Angie is taking a break from her mother who can't help but smother her after the car accident that left her in a coma for a few weeks and severely injured. Angie is okay but is reconsidering her decision to go to medical school as she wants to live life more fully. Mom thinks she's having a personality change stemming from the accident. They compromise and Angie comes to Virgin River to clear her head.

When Angie walks into Jack's Bar and sees Patrick sitting at the bar, they both have an immediate connection that no one seems to miss. Jack is going nuts as he's not keen on his niece connecting with one of those Riordan boys but Angie is pretty determined and goes full out after Patrick. He's a bit leery as he's almost ten years older and feels an obligation to his buddy's widow. But, Patrick is just as much drawn to Angie as she him.

There are so many funny moments as Jack struggles to deal with Angie's independence and intimate relationship with Patrick, who also has to contend with his meddling brothers and mother. There's a particularly funny moment when Jack shows up at Angie's at the wrong time. But, the real treasure in this story is the romance between Angie and Patrick who are both pretty clear eyed about what they're getting into. Angie knows about the widow and Patrick's misguided belief that he needs to take care of her and her son by creating a family. And, he knows that Angie has big plans for her life, whether it's med school or working to help people in underdeveloped communities. Following their journey from a casual but intimate relationship to one where their feelings become extremely complex was a really good experience. The ending was typical Virgin River style involving most of the Sheridans and Riordans but that's what we love about this series.

This is another lovely addition to the Virgin River experience. I want more and hope this series continues. I never tire of visiting this town and its wonderful collection of characters and community.

An important and fortunately cheap lesson to learn that just because everyone likes it and rates it highly, it doesn't mean you will too.
Weak trite story line with boring 2 dimensional characters. Hated it.

Thanks to the publisher, Harlequin, and NetGalley for the chance to read My Kind of Christmas early!

The author pulls out all the emotional stops for this 20th installment in her popular contemporary-romance saga featuring the drama-rich Northern California mountain community.

I got hooked on Robyn Carr's Virgin River series early on; Ms. Carr has the ability to maintain weave multiple story-line, characters, and plots into each book, while still making each one interesting. While you could read this as a stand-along - I wouldn't recommend it- each book is very much connected to the others in the series - as you can see below...

Angie LeCroix, is the niece of Jack Sheridan - Virgin River, #1 and Brie Sheridan - Whispering Rock, #3.

Patrick Riordan, is the brother of Luke Riordan - Temptation Ridge, #6, Sean Riordan - Angel's Peak, #10, Aiden Riordan - Moonlight Road, #11, and Colin Riordan - Wild Man Creek (Virgin River, #14).

It has all of the elements we've come to love in Robyn Carr's stories -great values, strong characters, and great follow through with earlier characters.

Note: Continued story. 20th in the Virgin River series of more than 20 books.
WARNING: Soap-opera style format is confusing unless you read the series in order.

EASY READ. Appealing, overcoming-tragedy storyline, likable characters, sometimes sassy dialogue, and a familiar supporting cast for those reading the series. HOWEVER, it is a typical Virgin River lust-a-thon, the hero and heroine are hot and sexy and can't wait, the language is bleepable, the hero's promise is unrealistic, and it drags a little in places.

THE STORY follows promising medical school student, Angie LaCroix, and Navy fighter pilot, Patrick (Paddy) Riordan. A year earlier, Angie was nearly killed in a head on collision and she's decided to take a break from medical school. Paddy is on leave, grieving the loss of his best friend and wingman. Each is at a crossroad, Paddy must return to his squadron in several weeks and Angie must decide if she wants to return to medical school. Because of their instant attraction and shared soul-searching, they decide to spend as much time together as they can. In between medical emergencies and interfering family members, a sizzling romance develops, while both try to figure out how to have the careers they want and a future together.

OVERALL, sweet, but nothing new. The VIRGIN RIVER series includes more than 20 books starting with Virgin River (2007).

You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, or E. Palfrey. For sweet, funny, heart touching romances, try Susan Fox, Cara Colter, or Nikki Logan.

My Kind of Christmas is by Robyn Carr. It is a Virgin River novel. All of Robyn’s books are great and this one does not break her roll. It is simply fantastic.
Angie LeCroix is determined to spend Christmas in Virgin River with her aunt and uncle. She needs to get away from her Mother who is constantly on her about returning to medical school and getting over her accident. Angie finds she needs the peace and quiet that Virgin River offers to help her in making her decision on whether or not to return to medical school. The horrific accident left her wondering whether or not her life should go on as she had it scheduled out. She has to convince her Mother to let her go.
Patrick Riordan has come home to Virgin River. Although the Riordan brothers were known for their wild and rough and tumble ways, Patrick was different. He was gentle and sweet-natured. He was also a Navy pilot. He had just seen his best friend laid to rest and he had promised Jared to take care of his wife if anything happened to him. Patrick took this to heart as he had been close to Maria as well. Patrick had to decide whether to return to being a pilot or take a different route or get out of the service all together. After he rests a few weeks in Virgin River, thinking about what to do, he would head for Oklahoma and Maria where he would take on the job of caring for her.
Then Angie and Patrick meet at Jack Sheridan’s bar. Jack is Angie’s uncle and takes his job seriously. He warns Angie to stay away from the Riordan’s, especially Patrick. Angie has no intention of doing so and no intention of making this a long-term association. She is out to enjoy herself and hopes Patrick is too. Can a temporary relationship truly evolve?

Angie LeCroix just needs to get away, her families constant attention is beginning to feel stiffling. Angie heads to Virgin River to figur out if she wants to finish her medical degree or find another path in life. After a horrific accident Angie isn't sure if her path still includes becoming a doctor.

Patrick Riordan has been broody since his best friend in the Navy died and he saw it. Now Patrick doesn't know if he wants to continue his career in the Navy, not to mention he is torn on what to do with his best friends widow Marie and how to give her the support she needs.

When Angie meets Patrick, everyone has an opinion stay away. Not because Patrick is not a good man, just because he is older and not who her family perceives is right for her. Angie and Patrick have a spark and when they decide to act on it, they know where each other stands but will it last more than a few weeks during the holidays?

This was a delightful story, you have two characters who are at a crossroads in life. I liked Angie, she is a spitfire and is ready to be treated as an adult which is what Patrick offers. Patrick has a tough choice that he is making thinking he is doing the right thing. Robyn Carr's books always have a unique story and a ton of characters that you love.

I have been waiting and waiting to get back to Virgin River and FINALLY I was able to go!

In My Kind of Christmas we get the story of the last Riordan brother, Patrick. I love, love the Riordan boys and have been looking forward to Paddy's story, and Robyn does not disappoint.

Paddy is in Virgin River on leave from the Navy after witnessing the death of his best friend while in combat. Of course his brothers are all worried about him, but Paddy wants to be left alone. This is not a concept the Riordan boys, or their mother, understand. This is one thing I absolutely love about this family is that they let no one fall. Someone, most likely all of the them, will be there to catch you and pick you up. Paddy is dealing with a lot and trying to keep his brothers at bay.

Angela LeCroix is recovering from a car accident that almost took her life. Her mother wants the old Angie back, but Angie view of her life and the world have changed. Angie's mom wants her back in medical school. The sooner the better.

Angie heads to Virgin River to stay with her Uncle Jack so she can finally decide what she wants to do with her life. Her first night is town she see Paddy and it is over from there!

Paddy wants Angie from the moment he sees her, but know he has a promise and duty to fulfill and can not get involved with someone like Angie. But he does not let that stop him one bit.

I loved Paddy and Angie together. Again, Robyn writes a wonderful love story about first love that draws you in. We get to see some of our old friends. This was a different Virgin River story for me. This story is focused on Paddy and Angie, there are no side stories in their book, which I missed, but did not make me love this book any less than the others. This book will make you laugh, and how could it not, we are talking Riordan boys here, and make you cry. Another can't put down book in this series. I can not wait to see where Robyn takes us next in this wonderful series.

Happy Reading!!

I've always had trouble trying to like the Riordan family... this book makes it even harder... They're pushy and opinionated starting with the mother.
I really like Angie. She's the upper in the story and Paddy is the downer... ..
He was on medical leave after the death of his buddy, but his constant interaction with his buddy's widow grew to be ridiculous, till she eventually had to set him straight...
However, what peed me off the most was the immediate mention that he was staying in 'Aiden's cabin'. The cabin is not Aiden's. It does not belong to him or his wife Erin,,, who is also at the top of my hate list... It belongs to Erin's brother in law Ian and his wife Marcie from book 4,( probably my favourite couple in the Virgin River series), but being the bossy money bags, she took it upon herself to renovate it so SHE can have a place that suited her for a vacation... I know this is not a part of this story, but it still irked the heck out of me every time 'Aiden's cabin' was mentioned.

I am a HUGE fan of Robyn Carr and the Virgin River series. It is one of my absolute favorites and I anxiously await each new release. Every time I start a new book in the series, it makes me want to go back and reread the series from the beginning. It is like visiting with old friends and meeting new ones. I just love to wrap myself up in the comfort of these stories. I have reread the Virgin River series more times than I can count and will continue to do so.

I was so not disappoint in My Kind Of Christmas. It was everything that I look forward to and love about this series. I don't think that I have gotten through a book in this series without being emotionally affected~in some way~by the struggle of such wonderful and lovable characters and their journey towards a HEA.

Oh...Patrick *sigh* I just loved him and Angie so much right from the beginning. They were perfect for each other and captured my heart. I loved how each of them gave the other exactly what they needed. Patrick was able to find the peace he so desperately needed in Angie and she was able to find the strength and confidence she was lacking in Patrick. I was so rooting for their HEA!!!

The Riordan brothers are so funny and loving and dysfunctional. I love how they interact with each other and especially with their mother.

Each book in the Virgin River series continues to be fresh and new and I will never get tired of reading them or looking forward to more. As with every other book in this series, I was able to lose myself in the story and I wasn't ready to leave Patrick and Angie and look forward to reading more about them through out the series.

What I find myself loving about Robyn's writing and why I continue to come back to this series is the hope. In each of the books the hero and/or heroine are struggling with some tragedy/trauma in their lives and hoping to come to Virgin River to find healing and peace. What they find, usually pretty quickly, is the love of their life and so much more. That in this little tiny town, they find everything that they didn't even know they needed. Love this!! :)
I want Virgin River and these characters to be real and even as I say good~bye at the end of each book, I do so knowing that I will be returning. Thank you, Robyn, so much for that!! :)

Obviously, My Kind Of Christmas is going into my keeper pile alongside the rest of this series to be reread. BEST OF THE BEST rating.

****ARC provided by NetGalley and Harlequin MIRA~Thank you so much!!! :)

What a great holiday story this was. When Patrick and Angie meet at Jack's bar the connection was instant and not everyone was happy about that. Angie was in Virgin River first to get away from her overbearing mother and also to rethink her future. She was in medical school before she was involved in a horrific accident. Now she isn't sure she wants to return to med school. She spent all her time being the perfect student and had no fun. After an accident such as she was in you tend to rethink what you want from life.

Patrick is back in Virgin River to try and get his life back together. He is in the navy as a pilot and watched as his best friend 's plane was blown to bits overseas. Now he feels he must take care of his friend's wife and son. But while he is recuperating he meets Angie and she turns him inside out.

I really hated to see this story end. I fell in love with Angie and Patrick and everyone else in Virgin River. This is a story to melt your heart.

My Kind of Christmas by Robyn Carr is a WONDERFUL Christmas Read. I loved this book! Of I think I've loved all of the Virgin River books and anything by Robyn Carr.

Angie LeCroix is in Virgin River to celebrate Christmas with her Aunts & Uncle, & to get a little space from her mother. Since Angie was in a series car accident her Mom is a little overprotective of her and is ready for her to get back with life plans of being a Dr. Angie just isn't sure that is what she wants to do right now so she choose to take some time to herself to think things over. Shortly after arriving in Virgin River she meets Patrick Riordan, who is in Virgin River to make some plans of his own. He has recently lost his best friend and is having some issues dealing with his grief.

When these two meet it's instant attraction. I love how Angie rather shy normally has no problem starting a conversation with Patrick. They plan to enjoy spending what time they have together until the holidays & then go on with their lives whatever they may be. These two are such a cute couple, who could help but fall in love with their story?

Will the go their own ways come Christmas or will they work something out so they can be together forever?

A very heart-warming Christmas story that will surround you with warmth and comfort, just like a big, soft, fluffy blanket you love snuggling into.

This is the story of 23-year old medical student Angie LeCroix and Navy pilot Patrick Riordan and their journey to overcome their insecurities and reach for what they really want. After recovering from a life-affirming car accident Angie decides to visit his Uncle Jack in Virgin River for the holidays. And if you have read any of the other Virgin River books, you know who Jack Sheridan is and how Virgin River welcomes those who are on a quest to discover themselves.

Patrick decides to spend his medical leave after the accident that caused his best friend's death in his brother's cabin in Virgin River. He is conflicted to say the least. He feels guilty that he survived and his friend didn't and in an attempt to make amends he has gotten it in his head that he needs to take care of his wife and son and that maybe his life in the Navy is not the kind of life he wants to pursue anymore.

Their story was one of trust, of giving into their wants and just letting go and living in the moment. They've both been through awful events that in one way or another changed the way they saw themselves and their life. From this common ground is where their relationship blossoms. Through their laughter and humor they connected with each other easily. Neither of them went looking for love and it was great to see how they found it, ignored their circumstances and embraced it in the end.

What I enjoyed the most was how easily they connected. I am not a fan of the 'insta-love' scenario, but I don't think of their connection as such. They started this because they were attracted to each other and their chemistry was palpable from the very first moment they spoke. They had an easy way about their relationship, they knew what to expect from each other and I think it was that acceptance that made it easier to believe their story. I loved their banter and humor. Their dialog was very enjoyable and my Lord, their chemistry was off the charts.

The writing was very good, although the change in points of views included some of the secondary characters. Not enough to affect my rating, but enough to cause me confusion. Mostly, I think I forgot that in Virgin River the secondary characters have a voice too! Regardless, I enjoyed how it all played out like a soap. Where everybody got together and helped each other.

I admit that I drifted from Virgin River at the end of book 11. But after reading this title I will be going back. I forgot how much I enjoyed the sense of community, the camaraderie between the citizens, their banter and their welcoming hearts. And this book had that and more.

Angie LeCroix survives a horrific auto accident and finds she needs to re-evaluate her life and get away from her mother who badgers her about returning to medical school. The fact is, Angie's no longer sure that being a doctor is what she wants. For now, she wants to kick back and enjoy the small things in life--things she had no time for in the rush to excel. What better way to discover what she wants than to spend time in Virgin River with her Uncle Jack Sheridan and Aunt Brie Valenzuela?

Patrick Riordan, the youngest of the rough and tumble Riordan boys, is the sweet one. He's also a Navy pilot about to be reassigned to a squadron. It used to be what he wanted; now he's not so sure. He's just been dumped by his girlfriend of four years s and he's in a quandary about his future. For now, he's on an ordered leave of absence and spending it in Virgin River near his brother Luke seems like a good idea.

Both Angie and Patrick need time alone, but when they meet, sparks fly, and soon they are thinking they'd like time away from their families, but want to spend it together. A fling seems just about right, but fate has a different plan for them.

As usual, Robyn's Virgin River series never fails to intrigue this reviewer. I've loved every book and My Kind of Christmas ranks high on the list of favorites. Both Angie and Patrick are delightful characters, however, I was also glad to welcome back appearances from so many of the Virgin River characters from past stories. Then there's Angie's and Patrick's boisterous families who seem to know exactly what the two lovers need, regardless of their own plans.

Ms. Carr concludes this wonderful series in grand style. I was sorry to see it end.

Once again I’m just amazed how much I love Robyn Carr. I feel like I’m going home to my mother’s house every time I read one of her novels. There is just so much to love in her novels. You get to return to characters in past novels and learn about two new characters. Her writing is so clear and concise. It brings about emotions from me that I don’t get from other authors. I laugh and I cry; sometimes all on one page.

Angie LaCroix is Jack Sheridan’s oldest niece. Her mother is very head strong and domineering. After she almost died in a car accident she needs to go to Virgin River to figure out what she wants to do for the rest of her life. Patrick Riordan is on leave from the Navy while he figures out if wants to return to the Navy. Both are going through a lot and have suffered great trauma recently. Neither one is looking to fall in love but that is what happens.

Slowly but surely the magic of Virgin River gets to them and they have a quick and exciting love affair. What I find so awesome about how the two of them fall in love is that they are not doing anything elaborate but getting to know each other and spend a lot quality time together. Patrick is very sweet and loving towards Angie. He encourages her to go after her dreams. Angie learns a lot from Patrick but also learns a lot about herself.

I adored Angie and Patrick. I love how loving and crazy they were about each other. There love is the kind of love I hope to find one day. My Kind of Christmas is easily my new favorite Robyn Carr novel. I love strong hero that need to show their vulnerable side in order to fall in love. I cannot wait till the next installment of her Virgin River series. I do not know what I’ll do when she is no longer writing her Virgin River novels.

This is a sweet Christmas romance, it's short & sweet. It's written as a part of a series, yet you can read it as a stand alone. It references a few couples from previous books (which have been added to the 2013 to be read pile of course).

In this novel we meet with Angie & Paddy who are both recovering from traumatic events in their lives, Angie almost died & it's forcing her to re-evaluate her wants & needs. Many of her goals & plans are ones her parents pushed her into & she wants to see if they are the right ones for her or has she been living for them this whole time. Her mother pushes really hard for her to get back to 'normal' as fast as possible not even seeing that maybe this is a new normal. I liked that Angie was willing to fight for her own needs & took the chance to go & re-evaluate and not just jump back in because it would help others feel more comfortable. Although this rebellion led to some serious fireworks between her & her mother.

Patrick (Paddy) is trying to decide if being up in the air is still his love & dream. After watching his best friend being shot down he is understandably having a hard time. He takes sometime to rethink his life plan & also reconcile his new life goals with what he is going to do to protect & provide for his best friend's widow & son. Ohhh Paddy is so sweet, to even have that as an idea is sweet (misguided) but sweet non the less.

When they meet they hit it off immediately because Angie has decided she won't let life slide by her anymore. Her family in town especially her Uncle Jake who still thinks of her as a little kid has a cow
Jake cringed " Ah, dammit he's playing around with her hair!!
Luke laughed a little harder "I've played with hair...you've played with hair..."
"She's too young!! I don't want that to happen" he said glumly.
"Out of my hand. He's a Riordan, That fact that he's always been a real docile & sweet Riordan makes no difference at all. That Riordan..if he's got his eye on a target__hey nothing any of us can do" Luke says
Can i say how much I laughed at this scene?? I could so see this happening. I laughed really well reading this book. This would make a great Christmas movie especially with the little miracle that gets thrown in, which helps Angie back onto her path. This wasn't cheesy or forced, it was a good read & the extended families?? had me cracking up. Especially when Paddy asks his brothers if they felt like dirty old men for marrying younger women. I swear the author knows my mother, the bossiness must be a mother trait.

I had fun reading this book it was a really good straight up romance, no weird action thrown in, or weird crazy happenings, just a good romance and a reason for each of them to go back to their lives healed & happy. I loved it & the ending of course just cinched it more for me. I can't wait to read the other 19 books especially Jake's & Luke's stories because they are interesting & fun characters.

How I loved this story. Although there were plenty of people trying to tell Paddy and Angie what they SHOULD be doing and how they SHOULD feel, there were plenty of others in Virgin River that just smiled and let them find their own way. And that's exactly what they needed.

I haven't been through it, but I could understand Angie's feelings about her mom. Even after her mom started trying to do better. Of course she felt as though it was a trick. So although I felt she was somewhat rude to her mom, I got why she was that way.

The same with Patrick. If you've read all of the previous books you KNOW what his mom can be like. The funny thing was, the moms really had no intention of getting in anyones way!

Of course, in Virgin River fashion, it all comes together in the end for a wonderful Christmas.

I'm sad that it looks like this was the last Virgin River book...at least for now. Although I'm enjoying the Thunder Point novels and see there is a new one coming, I still hope there are more VR books in the future.

This Christmas is a time for healing in Virgin River as two souls descend in search for a path to take.

Angie LeCroix was injured in a devastating car accident. After months of rehabilitation she can finally get around on her own but now she's uncertain what to do with the rest of her life. Before the accident she wanted to be a doctor but now all she can think about is helping people right now. She wants to give back and years of medical school is not what she has in mind. Her mother's adamant refusal to hear this new plan of Angie's has her running off to her Uncle Jack Sheridan in Virgin River for some TLC and hopefully a holiday that will shed some light on her future.

Navy pilot Patrick Riordan was born to be in a plane but after his best friend dies in a plane crash Patrick is unsure about what he should do next. He vowed to take care of his friend's wife and child but first he has to get his head straight. His brothers' seemed to find themselves in Virgin River so he thinks that's the perfect place for him at the moment.

Patrick and Angie cross paths and sparks fly. They are both in need of healing but will they find it in Virgin River or will they only find more heartache?

Christmastime in Virgin River is always a special time. After visiting this series so many times, I feel like I'm coming home to family as I read each new story. I love the Christmas stories. All of the traditions that the town uphold always make me giddy. Angie and Patrick are both strong characters in need of a new direction. Each has experienced a monumental life change and they need to get centered again. However, when they meet in Virgin River their lives may become more complicated. I love the way their relationship proceeds. I love the way they open up to each other and how each time they share more their paths become a little clearer. Any Christmas in Virgin River is My Kind of Christmas! Fans of the series will not be disappointed with Angie and Patrick's story and especially those who adore the Riordan clan will enjoy this. It was great to revisit all of the Riordans and their expanding families.

My Kind of Christmas is a holiday keeper!
My Kind of Christmas can be read as a stand-alone novel.

My Review:
I'll admit, I've gotten behind on this series, but I make the holiday books a priority because it was a holiday book that I made me first fall in love with this series (I think it was book #4). That's the nice thing about these books...they all stand independently so you can read any of them at any time (as long as you don't mind spoilers about who winds up with who). (Although, I would recommend that any new reader to the series read at least book #1 because Jack and Mel are the backbone of this little town of Virgin River and appear in every book.)

This book features another one of those sexy Riordan boys...*sigh*.... Patrick is a fighter pilot on leave after his wingman and best friend is shot down and killed. He's in Virgin River for a month for some R&R and to get his head on straight.

Angie is there trying to escape her mother. She's had a life-altering accident that almost killed her. Now she's re-examining all her priorities and has dropped out of med school. Her mother is frantic over the huge life changes that Angie is making seemingly out of the blue and hovering. So Angie runs to Virgin River to escape.

Both of these characters have had really traumatic, life-altering events happen. They find a friendship through that, which leads to other things because of their chemistry. They both quickly realize that their relationship is so much more than they'd planned, but they also both realize that they have life commitments that aren't going to change to accommodate this relationship. So for both of them, they are just trying to savor the time they have and not worry about how much it's going to hurt later. Honestly, I liked the fact that they are truly never not a couple in this book once they hook-up. It would have been really easy to create conflict by the two of them deciding to stay apart. But that isn't the way that Robyn wrote this one. Instead the conflict comes from the fact that they know that their time together is finite and they just have a couple of weeks. It makes it a really happy book to read because there isn't stress between the two of them, besides the deadline looming on their relationship.

Like with any of the Virgin River books, there are some fabulous moments in this book that involve the town. I loved the glimpses of all of Patrick's brothers and how they all are giving the baby (Patrick at 33) a hard time about his girl. I also really loved the moments with Jack and his unease about this relationship. Angie is his niece and only 23...he's not happy that she's becoming involved with one of those wild Riordan boys, especially since he's so much older than her. Mainly, though, I loved Angie. She's had this huge thing happen to her that shows her that she needs to live her life while she can because you just don't know what's around the corner. She's not a natural grab-life-by-the-horns kind of girl and has to work at it, but she knows it's important. I liked that life-affirming attitude!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

In My Kind of Christmas we meet 23 year old Angie LeCroix whose recent accident has left her restless and indecisive. With her mother hovering over her and constantly urging her to get back to medical school, Angie decides she needs to get away, be alone, and think. Besides, she's not convinced she even wants to return to medical school. Where does she go? Virgin River, of course! Her Uncle Jack is not quite as protective as her mother but almost. At least he's willing to give her a little space.

Patrick Riordan, the youngest of the Riordan brothers, is also in Virgin River, where he has his own personal crisis going on. He's suffered a severe loss as a Navy pilot and is on leave for six weeks. He just wants peace, quiet and some alone time to re-think his own life and career path. The last thing he's looking for is a new commitment.

Yup, you guessed it! Patrick and Angie spot each other in Jack's bar and the sparks fly across the room. Against admonishing from both families and their own better judgement, Patrick and Angie become a twosome for the holiday season with the understanding that it is only for a few weeks and then life will go on.

Separately.

Uh, huh, Patrick and Angie. Keep telling yourselves that.

Romance stories are not usually my first reading choice but when it comes to Robyn Carr, I make an exception. I just happened to win one of the books from the Virgin River series and have not looked back. Every new one I read, I enjoy tremendously. Carr manages to grab my heart every time with her characters and the plot line.

I love this series. Even after 20 books, it still feels fresh. Carr has created a community filled with interesting and caring characters who feel so real to me. The sense of place is well done and the love stories are truly romantic; nothing over the top. I can picture all their homes and family in my mind. Even though some of the plot is predictable, it doesn't matter. It's the quality time spent in this wonderful community with it's own traditions. I'd love to spend Christmas in Virgin River! 4****

My Kind of Christmas by Robyn Carr
ISBN: 9780778313854
Angela LaCroix had changed since her near death car accident. She was heading to Virgin River to spend time with her sister and she stood up to her mother when it came time to go back to medical school. She needed some time.
Her aunts Mel and Brie at Jack's bar were happy to see her and have her for a visit.
While collecting a few staples from the kitchen she saw Patrick Riordan leave the bar and got the scoop on him. Her plan is to stay in the cabin-in the woods, no TV and very slow net connection. Peace and quiet for a month.
The annual raising the Christmas tree, such events where the whole town came out to meet and greet each other.
Patrick is suffering from the combat and he looks in every day at his best buddy's wife Marie and their young son to be sure things are ok. He's the boys godfather.
She has a coffee with him when she finds him staring at her and they talk about their past lives, the hurt of being left and their job choices.
Love this town and being able to catch up with everybody that lives in it especially around the holidays.
They get to know one another pretty well, as they share their inner most thoughts and dreams with one another.
She is concerned because they are 10 years apart but he feels very close to her just talking because of the things she's gone through in her life.
Hot lovemaking only adds to this story. Paddy is due to leave on the 23rd and stop to see Marie for Christmas. Angie has to get on with her life also. The emergency has set her in motion as to what she needs to do.
Loved learning about a new medical treatment and can't wait to try it.. love the care and share that went into this book, it's not only about the holiday, this town always has magic and miracles, even when the WHOLE family descends upon them all..

I'll just start off by saying this is book TWENTY. Yes, 20 in the Virgin River series. That alone should tell you that it is a wonderful book. How many series can keep going past 5 or 6 books without losing interest; not many that I've found! The New York Times Book Review's Print Paperback Best Sellers (11/11/12 edition) lists My Kind of Christmas at NUMBER ONE! Congrats to Robyn on that, and another fantastic book in the series!!!!

I find it rather ironic that I'm not a fan of Christmas, or snow....or winter in general, however I LOVE "Christmas" books. Weird, right? Oh, well. Patrick (Paddy) is in Virgin River staying in one of his brothers' cabins while he is on leave from the Navy after a very traumatic event. He is enjoying peace and solitude (as much solitude as you can get in Virgin River), and has firm plans in his head for what lies ahead for him. That is, until he lays eyes on Angie.

Angie is dealing with the aftermath of her own traumatic, life altering event and her family {namely, her mother} is not helping. She decides to take a break to think things over, so she escapes to visit her Uncle (Jack, the unofficial town mayor, and owner of the local bar), Aunt (Brie) and their families in Virgin River. The last thing she expects is to meet someone who can completely understand what she's going through, or to fall for him hard and fast.

Once again, Robyn lets readers catch up with characters from past books, which I thoroughly enjoy. She also finds a way to make each book FRESH. I don't ever have to skim through these books; there are no "dull" parts. I'll keep reading the Virgin River series as long as Robyn keeps writing them!!

I have been a fan of the Virgin River novels since their inception and Robyn Carr has never failed to hook me from page one. In my opinion this book is one of, if not THE best one yet. I think the characters are well defined without being stereotyped and as with any book in the series I knew something about them as they appeared without requiring an extensive description of who they were, etc. I also found the interaction within the members of the Riordan and Sherman families to be quite believable. I can almost hear the dialogue as I'm reading which, to me, makes it all the more real. This book enfolded me into the story every time I picked it up and I was swept right along with the events as they happened.
The story is touching at times, humorous, and Ms. Carr always includes some jewels of wisdom and understanding which are demonstrated by the thoughts, motivation and actions of her characters. I also like the way this story moves along without a lot of explaining or narrative. Things just happen. I truly enjoyed this book, and of course, will be on the lookout for the next Virgin River novel.

Patrick Riordsn and Angie LeCroix have both suffered traumatic things recently. They both just want to spend Christmas relaxing and moving forward with their lives. They end up getting more than they bargained for in avirgin River.

If you have ever taken a visit to Virgin River with the fantastic characters that Robyn Carr has created, then this will be an extra special read to enjoy during the holidays. New characters are added - Angie and her special friend Megan - these two will make quite the impact in the small town of Virgin River. Angie has just survived a major car accident and needs to escape her parents home to recenter herself and find out what path she wants to go down next.

I have loved every book and every character in this series. It's great that Robyn writes a story about each member of the main families and keeps bringing previous characters back into the stories so you know how they are doing.

Just finished My Kind of Christmas and loved it. I'm always curious about what has happened with characters in past Virgin River books and was glad to see so many of them back. I loved Rosie from Sean and Franci's book and was hoping we'd see a little more than just a mention of her in this book. She was a character. Maybe in future books. I noticed that the next three Robyn Carr Virgin River releases are original books in this series. I loved them but hope there will be will new stories to come.

Robyn Carr is one of my top ten favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in her new book, My Kind of Christmas. Another in her very popular Virgin River series.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering until the very end whether or not the charecters would come together. Once again she weaves a spellbinding tale that I wouldn't mind reading a second time. And I just might!

I love a good Christmas romance and Robyn Carr did not disappoint with this one! So far everything I've read from the Virgin River series has been fantastic and this book was no exception. Both main characters were new to me, but I liked them a lot and loved the presence of the familiar residence of Virgin River.

I've enjoyed all of Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. Her characters are deep and ring true. This couple discovers what makes life worth living, and where their priorities will lead to or turn them away from the inevitable happy ending. A good Christmas story.

My Kind of Christmas is the last book of the Virgin River series and I hated to see the series end. From the 1st book "Virgin River" to this last one, Robyn Carr grabs you from the first page. Robyn gives each character in the books a very distinctive personality and you feel as if you know them personally. The story lines are excellent. If you like to read books with continuing characters, then you will love each and every one of the 20 books in this series.

I've read all the books in the Virgin River series, and I think it's the best series I've ever read. I've told both my daughters about these books, and they have told their friends. Everyone raves about the series. I can't wait for her next series to come out.

Such an easy and enjoyable read. A bit predictable but so what?! Such an awesome setting in the snowy mountains, so Christmas-like! This book was my companion during the last few freezing, snowy days and I enjoyed every minute of it.

So exciting to be back with Virgin River's core familes, the Sheridans and Riordans. Angie is adorable, Patrick divine. Although readers know there'll be a happy ending in Virgin River, this reader shed a few tears before the last page.

Love this book. Love both Angie and Patrick and love the ending. A little predictable but heart warming. Of the whole Virgin River series, I enjoy reading the ones about the Riordan brothers the most.

If you're a fan of the Virgin River stories, you will really enjoy this book. It's a love story with more substance than bodice ripper type love stories, and it's entertaining. Robyn Carr makes Virgin RIver feel like a real place, one that I want to go to.

Alright, I give up. I've become too jaded to enjoy this series anymore. It is too nice and neat and tidy. Everyone is too perfect...everything ties up with a neat little bow at the end. Sad because I really enjoyed the first few books of this series. I am ready for a story with a little more meat in it now.

This series is inconsistent. Some of the books are excellent, some ok, and a few not so good. This one was below not so good. Story barely got going, characters, usually a strong point in this series, were barely fleshed out.
I hope this is not the last virgin river book. I would hate to see it end on such a low note

This could be a really cute Christmas read; however, it lacks something...perhaps more development of all of the characters and the setting would help....and it depicts such low morals that the story is pretty much ruined for me. Everything stacks up to be a good little read until the author spends so much time on the "in the sack" descriptions (glossing over would play out well here!) and not enough description of what is presented as a beautiful setting, and ot enough of what could be much more interesting individuals in the cast of players.

I wish we all had a Virgin River to go to so we could unwind and think about the future. In this book we find two people who are at crossroads and then find each other coming together to complicate their lives further! I love seeing old friends and the goings on in this 'wish it were true' town especially at Christmas as we once again get this town putting up a huuuge tree filled with Military ornaments or various type, again showing the true feelings of Virgin River. Another great book in this 'fabulous, Darling' series.
