Ms. Carr keeps adding to the family of Thunder Point. This was a feel good story that you won't want to put down. Iris and Seth have you rooting for them from the beginning. With her flare for drama, Ms Carr, wraps this story with a bow, a Christmas bow.

I loved this last book in the Thunder Point series. I have loved her three series of Thunder Point, Grace Valley, and Virgin River! Of course, I wish she would write more in all three of these series!!!! Loved her characters and the way each continued to the next one but you could also read any one of the books without having read any of the other books. I am a Robyn Carr fan!

I really love the Thunder Point series. I get very attached to the recurring characters from book to book. I don't like to go into a lot of detail on stories as I am concerned with spoiler alerts. But if you like the Virgin River series, you will like all of these stories as well.

I've read all of Robyn Carr's books, and enjoyed all of them, except the last two Thunder Point books. I can't even believe Robyn Carr wrote this book. It was boring, slow, lonnnnggg and did I say boring? Gosh I could not wait to get to the end, and when I finally did get there, there was two pages of excitement, maybe! I'm done with Thunder Point, and I think Robyn should move on as well. I am shocked at all the 4 and 5-star ratings for this book, as it was a 1 star, only for the effort of sitting down at the desk and writing words. This is a common problem amongst authors who continue to write these long drawn-out series. Sometimes it's just time to pack the suitcase and move to a new town with new friends!

I really don't understand where all these amazing reviews are coming from! I bought into this series (Thunder Point) because I liked the Virgin River series, however, this series keeps getting more boring as new books and stories get added to it. In this book, the author, keeps repeating the story of Seth's accident and Iris misfortunes over and over, with no new point of view or more details. I found myself skipping paragraphs many times and feeling not only that I didn't miss anything but that I couldnt wait for the book to become more interesting but it never happened. Spoiler Alert - Seth keeps repeating to everyone that that one of the most important reasons that he came back for is to try to get a better relationship with his father, however there is not one scene where they are brought together to discuss why is his father really upset about it. Iris keeps complaining that she needs to add a new counselor to her team and try to, several times, to convince Troy to go back to school to get his degree and become one. They, and I mean several characters and Mostly Iris, keep praying what a great teacher and how invested in his students he is but how and why he doesn't want to do that. Again there is a lot of repetition in this book and they are very simple story lines that didn't need to be constantly reminded throughout the book. Gina is still the waitress in the diner and she has her degree in counseling but it never occurs to Iris to offer the position to her, what is it with that? There is no depth to the characters and the love story not only is flat and simplistic but it doesn't feel like there is a great passion from Seth, he just wants his best friend back. the author tackles issues that we deal in society on a daily basis, however she always find a very rushed and clean tidy way to close it for a happy ending, which it then makes it unrealistic and forced. I will not recommend this book and I am not looking forward to any more of them. Ms Carr lost me in this one.

I had read one of Robyn Carr's novels for the first time when I had read 'Four Friends'. I was interested in reading another of her novels as I really enjoyed 'Four Friends'. However, when I began reading this book, it just didn't do it for me like 'Four Friends' did. I found that this book was a bit mundane, and quite predictable. The chemistry between Seth and Iris was obvious, and the way in which they found each other again was not at all exciting, which made me wish for more of a 'climax' in the plot. It seemed as though this story was just a play-by-play of Seth, Iris, and Troy's lives, among many other secondary characters. The storyline between Rachel and Brett wasn't very intriguing, and much too predictable once again. The book itself was an easy read, and the characters were addictive as they seemed to portray charismatic characteristics which would keep readers involved for the entire plot. However, I just didn't feel that this book really spoke to me, and would have wished for more excitement, or surprises for that fact.

This was a difficult book for me to rate. In the beginning I was hooked, then the romance paid off and even though cozy romances aren't my favorite genre, I was prepared to give the book 4-5 stars because, as far as I could tell, this book nailed everything people who DO like cozies are looking for. But weirdly, the book just kind of kept going for ages and ages after that and my opinion dwindled along with it. And the longer the book went on, the more time I had to think about all the niggling little issues that had been bugging me. So I finally settled on about 3.5 stars for this one.

Let's start with the romance. Iris and Seth were BFFs all through childhood and Iris was secretly nursing a huge crush on him the whole time. She spent their high school years listening to Seth complaining about how this or that girl had broken his heart, all the while dreaming of the day when he'd finally open his eyes and realize she was perfect for him. (I had that Vanessa Williams song running through my head all through this book). Then one night it seems her dream has come true because a somewhat drunk Seth has broken up with his girlfriend and asks Iris to the prom....and then gets back together with his girlfriend and dumps Iris without a second thought. There's more to the situation than that but I won't spoil it. I will say that I thought it was explained very well and I really felt Iris's pain and humiliation to the point where I understood why she'd not only broken off her friendship with Seth, but then continued to avoid him for the next 17 years.

When the story opens up, Seth and Iris are all grown up and he's come back to their home town to take over as the town cop. He also plans to patch things up with both Iris and his estranged father. I found Seth to be a bit annoying in these early chapters. Because he was drunk that night, he doesn't remember everything that happened and thinks Iris is just still pissed because he didn't take her to the prom. He came off as being that same jerk high schooler he'd been all those years ago. His thought process is basically that Iris doesn't really have a reason to be mad. That she should have known his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Sassy, would get priority on being his prom date if they happened to patch things up before the big night. That's the thinking of a teenage boy who is trying to make up excuses as to why his poor behavior wasn't really his fault. Seth is now in his 30's and has lived through some very trying times that have allegedly shaped him into a much more mature and thoughtful man......and yet he still can't even SLIGHTLY acknowledge how terribly he'd treated Iris? That treating someone who is supposed to be your best friend like they're your fall-back girl if nothing better comes along is a douchebag thing to do? No, apparently he can't. In his words, "he apologized for it and it was a long time ago so she really should have gotten over it by now. Geeze, why are girls so hung up on the dumb prom anyway?" Like I said, this is a boy's thought process, not that of the man we're supposed to believe Seth has become and it didn't do much to endear his character to me in the beginning. Not to mention that it never occurs to him to stop and wonder if maybe there isn't a little more to it than "just" a broken prom date, which there is.

And his plan to get Iris to be his friend again is basically to try to annoy her back into it. He doesn't even try apologizing to her again, maybe this time with a little more true feeling behind it. Nope, he just starts harassing her. And when she finally tells him the whole truth about what had happened he.....does nothing. I expected to get a few scenes with Seth wallowing in self-deprecation or agonizing over the whole thing but that doesn't happen. He stays away from her for a few days because he "doesn't want to see her until he's got a plan" and that's the extent of it. I guess maybe this is a cozy romance thing, where nothing that happens can be too excitingly described. I mean, if you don't want to have car chases and gun battles in the story than fine, but I'd still like to see the characters react to things in an appropriate way...

Anyway, the romance progresses slowly and basically takes root because Seth just keeps turning up at Iris's door like a bad penny. I never felt much of a spark between them, but again, maybe this is a cozy romance thing. No time was spent with the characters thinking lustful thoughts about each other, etc. so it was difficult for me to see them as anything more than friends. Then, after they spent months hanging out every night together, I thought it was really weird that Iris had yet another freak out about needing to tell Seth to get lost before he broke her heart again. But, I guess something had to happen to push them into the BF/GF stage and that was it. So, they're finally together, but there's still about a third of the book to go! There was tons and tons of filler in this book. Pages and pages about Troy and his crush on Iris, but once she successfully gets it through his head that she's not interested, he finally notices her best friend, Grace. All of which was setup for the next book. Pages and pages about this girl at school named Misty who gets dropped from the story without much of a resolution and thus could have been cut out altogether.

The stuff about Seth trying to reunite with his father was talked up like it was going to be a big part of the plot but it was more or less forgotten until close to the end. Then the resolution between them was very short and, quite frankly, didn't make sense. The father's explanation of why he had barely spoken to his son in the last 15 or so years was completely ridiculous and unbelievable. No one on earth would have had the thought process the father had. I also found this whole scene to be pretty annoying because Iris freaked out and was crying and screaming about how she'd killed Seth's father by showing him a youtube video. It's completely insane for an educated adult woman to think that could possibly be true and her freak out was very ill-timed because it forced both Seth and his mother to stop and comfort the bawling Iris when the father was in the middle of a medical crisis. But then, Seth's joking around and easy-going manner was just as bad, considering what has happening around them.

And finally, the abuse subplot. I went back and forth about this one. At times I thought it was being told in a very appropriate and realistic way. Starting with a high school girl who seems to have a lot of "accidents" but always has a good excuse and escalating into having to report it to the authorities. The book went through Iris's conflicting emotions about wanting to protect the girl but also not to jump to unwarranted conclusions. And how the victim herself fought against being helped because of the cycle of emotional abuse and dependency that so often goes hand-in-hand with these types of cases. All of that was good. However, it really, really yanked me out of my suspension of disbelief that NONE of the trained professionals involved in this thing, (Iris, Seth, Troy, the other teachers, etc.), ever ONCE thought of the person who turned out to be the abuser. Iris even says after the truth is out that in the majority of abuse cases, the abuser is that person. So how, with all of their combined training and Iris's Master's degree that she's so proud of, did they miss even CONSIDERING this person??? It was unbelievable.

Also, I thought Seth's interview with the girl's father was very ham-handed and unbelievable as well. He literally comes right out and asks the guy if he's ever smacked his daughter around. That is the opposite of being subtle. If the father really had been the abuser, then Seth had basically guaranteed that the girl would come home to a fresh beating that night....just like in the story Iris told us to illustrate what a terrible guidance counselor her predecessor had been. Then when the father says, no, of course he doesn't beat his daughter, Seth asks if maybe her mother handles discipline in that way. Again, this is NOT subtle and if this were real life, the father would immediately demand to know why Seth was asking him such questions. But because this is a book, the father apparently thought there was nothing odd about this line of questioning...coming from the POLICE...and just answered the questions and went blissfully on his way. Come on!

The grand finale at the end was kind of a let-down too. There was more action in this scene than in the whole rest of the book combined, but I felt like we got jipped out of real emotion, yet again. Once the threat is neutralized, Seth jogs off to find Iris, who we as the reader know has been hurt. But instead of the next chapter picking up with him finding her and desperately hugging her or insisting on carrying her to safety or something else traditionally heroic, the next chapter is Seth calmly talking to one of the other cops about what a great job they all did mobilizing for the event. Seriously, is this the kind of thing cozy lovers like? Skipping all the parts of the story that give you the exciting emotional payoffs?? I guess I just don't get this style of book.

Like I said, this was a hard book for me to rate. For my preferences, I thought it was a boring dud. But I'm trying to be objective and recognize that other people have different tastes and not just down-rank a book they might love simply because it's not my style.

I was gifted three novels from this series. I like Carr's writing style and how she develops her characters, but I wish she didn't have so many characters jumping into bed with each other before marriage. Also, in the 3 books I've read, 2 have had bullying/abusive high school boys as secondary characters--and this is a small town!

Iris and Seth were childhood friends, but their friendship soured when Seth got drunk and took advantage of Iris then didn't remember it (because he was drunk) and went back to his cheating girlfriend whom he'd made up with. Seth returns to Thunder Point for his job and hopes to rekindle his friendship with Iris and is devastated when he learns what he did to her but vows to make it up to her. There's also a side story about high school dating and abusive dating relationships, as well as looking in on other beloved Thunder Point residents.

I've long been a fan of Ms. Carr, since the first Virgin River books. Wasn't sure how well I'd like the Thunder Point series as Virgin River was so good. My first Thunder Point books seemed a little less interesting than VR, however, as I got to know the characters, I became more invested in the stories. In The Homecoming we meet Seth Sileski, once a college football player with a major opportunity to turn pro. When an auto accident sidelines his career, he turns to law enforcement, eventually returning to Thunder Point, the town of his youth. He looks forward to connecting again with his school friend Iris McKinley. But things aren't as he hoped. Iris appears not to want to see him.

Years earlier, Seth and Iris had been best friends. Iris loved the company of the town's super athlete, but inside she harbored a love for him. It ended one night, and Iris cannot let herself fall for Seth again, even though the new Seth Sileski is a better, humbler version of his former self. But in Seth's mind, he realizes what he had with his next door neighbor was something he's never found elsewhere, and he's determined to get it back...and more.

I really immersed myself in this story and found the ups and downs of the characters lives realistic. About halfway through, I was totally hooked. Yes, I knew Iris and Seth would find their HEA, but getting there was a delightful ride. I enjoyed reconnecting with other characters and loved getting to know the selflessness behind the real Seth. I also found myself fascinated by the bullying incident and how Iris, a school counselor handled it.

Ms. Carr has penned another winner in The Homecoming.

I have really enjoyed the first five books in the Thunder Point series, but this one fell just a little short of the mark for me in terms of the attraction between Seth and Iris and my enjoyment of their romance. I love the interaction between Thunder Points' couples including the community members and the newcomers. The revelation of Scott's storyline after his accident, the history of his childhood friendship with Iris, and her crush on him was very compelling and I very much enjoyed learning more about Iris' career as a counselor at the high school. I found her relationship with fellow high school History teacher Troy sweet and comical. I have a feeling we'll learn a whole lot more about him in the book to come. Taking on the serious topic of physical abuse was a shocking and very dramatic part of the book and it kept me on the edge of my chair from both the school and communities' perspective. It's a powerful and dramatic subject that will reach and possibly help a portion of Robyn's fan who might see themselves in the character of Rachel. But, all in all, once Seth and Iris hammered out their past and came together as a couple the chemistry between them just sort of fizzled instead of sizzled.

The Homecoming takes a little bit to get into, but once I did I enjoyed it. This book is kind of dry and clinical, but something about that I like. I don't remember if the others in the series were like that as well, but it takes a bit to get used to.

Seth and Iris used to be best friends until he told her he would take her to the prom then backed out the next day when he got back together with his girlfriend. Seth thinks that is all that happened and doesn't really understand why Iris would still be upset with him all these years later. Unfortunately Seth doesn't remember that night so well as he was really drunk, something he almost never is.

Iris loved Seth forever. Then the fateful night happened and she thought she was getting her dream come true - Seth. She thought things would be different now, they would be together and everything would be amazing. Only he doesn't remember that night or what happened. She is angry with him and with herself for not realizing what a mistake it was. For not seeing that of course he was too drunk for all of the things that happened. When Seth comes back to town he tries to start up at least a friendship with Iris again, but she runs away whenever he gets near. Seth still gets to her, she still wants him, but she is afraid to let him hurt her again.

When Seth finds out everything that happens he is upset. He never meant to hurt her and will do anything to win her back. He knows Iris is it for him. He just needs to make her see that too.

They were cute together. Iris doesn't want to trust him easily, but it was fun watching them work things out. Like I said it is a bit dry and clinical writing wise, but I enjoyed it. You get to see the two of them work together to help some kids that need it. You get to see some of the other characters from prior books and how they are doing. You are introduced to a few new characters that I don't remember meeting before. Through it all you have Seth and Iris falling in love again. It was a sweet read.

I always know that Robyn Carr's Thunderpoint books are going to be a good escape from the craziness of daily life. I've always had these dreams of living in an idealistic small town (although in my dreams? It's usually in the Nebraska Panhandle, which isn't near as picturesque as this small town in the Pacific Northwest! It's slightly more rugged and the guys where boots and cowboy hats...) But none the less? This series definitely quinches that thirst for me!

Seth and Iris are both new additions to the town, which I found refreshing. (I love the way these people all intertwine, but I also found this totally new branch of the town to be a great new start.) But even better? Seth and Iris are one of my favorite romance cliches, childhood best friends! (And of course, they have this one super confusing moment that changes both of their lives when they were seniors in high school, and sends them as far away from one another! Which they needed, so they could both grow up and move forward in life.)

And while the romance is sweet and swoonworthy? What really made this book for me was all the other connections. Seth and Iris working together (along with Troy, which made for an odd love triangle that lasted maybe thirty seconds) to solve a mystery about a teenager being abused. Iris' best friend Grace, who has found a new home in this fantastic town.

If you're looking for a good way to kill some times this weekend, a great escape from whatever is goign on? Well, I can't recommend Robyn Carr's Thunderpoint Series enough!

This one isn't my favorite in Carr's Thunder Point series - I enjoyed it for the characters, their stories and the town but the romance between Iris and Seth was less fulfilling than I'd hoped for. The long backstory of friendship and of Iris being in love with Seth since she was a girl was sweet and the best part of their relationship. Current Seth was kind of boring - he spent most of his time being confused or apologizing. Thankfully, he wasn't in the book as much as you'd think. Iris was really the main character and I liked her a lot. She's the kind of school counselor we all wish we had: funny, thoughtful, caring and hands on.

When the excitement of the romance died early it was the characters in Thunder Point that kept me reading. As with all of Carr's books, she weaves in past couples and the town's population and there are a couple of small stories involving students at Iris's school that I liked. There were times I thought Seth and Iris's romance was so dull that I wanted to spend more time with Grace, Scott and Peyton or with Iris at school than with their relationship.

I liked this entry in the series but it didn't seem much like a romance compared to other books in it. It can be read as a standalone but since the best parts of it were from catching up with the other people in Thunder Point, it makes sense to read it as part of the series.

Seth Sileski is a man who doesn't give up. Whether its sports, his career or friendships. He takes what life throws at him and changes with it. His attitude about the bad things that happen to him made me like him even more. Now he's back in him hometown to start a new phase of his life and mend some old relationships.

Iris McKinley has had a crush on her neighbor for years. When Seth moves back to Thunder Point, Iris thinks there might be a chance at more than friendship. Unfortunately, Seth doesn't have a clue. I could feel for Iris with how frustrated she was with Seth.

As Seth and Iris forge a new, adult relationship, they discover how they have changed since they were kids as well as how there are still familiar traits each still has. Iris is the stubborn one in this relationship with Seth having an infinite amount of patience. That patience pays off in the end.

As with many small town romance series, we get the joy of catching up with previous couples and the goings on of the town as well. Thunder Point is a character unto itself, a place where many readers would love the chance to visit if not live. I know I would.

The Homecoming is a sweet, friends to lovers romance. One of my favorite romance tropes. Add to that the characters are engaging with a story line readers should find entertaining.

Just after I’d read The Promise, I got The Homecoming for review. I tried to resist it for a couple of days, but finally caved on a random Friday and decided to read it. I kid you not – I devoured that baby from start to finish, without stopping for anything. The novel had a potent combination that worked its magic on me: a fantastic couple to root for + familiar & beloved faces that made appearances + Thunder Point.

Seth’s recently returned to Thunder Point to take over as Sheriff. While he’s been in and out of town over the years to visit his mother, he’s decided to take on a more permanent role. It’s clear that he really cares about Thunder Point and the people in it, but he’s also back for two other reasons: to make things right with his father, and to make things right with Iris. Honestly, it was not at all hard for Seth to win me over. He’s funny (and capable of laughing at himself), he’s loyal, he’s smart, and he’s dedicated to his job and his family. Really, he’s just an adult version of the boy next door, and I found myself utterly charmed.

Iris, on the other hand, has stayed in Thunder Point and works at the high school as a guidance counselor. I love that she chose to dedicate her life to doing something good for others, and that she takes her role very seriously. She’s a smart lady, and reads people very well. I do love that she’s also a bit of a spaz, very forthright about what she thinks, and can also deck a grown man properly. (Seriously, that bit made me laugh!) But Iris has a good heart, if one that has been broken severely before… by one Seth Sileski.

Yes, Seth broke Iris’ heart when they were both still teenagers in high school. And I’ve got to tell you, the how of the situation was really surprising! Make no mistake, I was just as angry at Seth as Iris was for a time. But the thing is, people do make mistakes, and the best they can do is try to make up for them. Witnessing Seth make up for his mistake because he cared about Iris was really heart-warming, and wonderful, and eventually, like Iris, I found myself realizing that Seth Sileski was most definitely still the love of her life.

Clearly, this romance was So. Damn. Good. But it’s also not the only plot arc in The Homecoming! There’s also the matter of Seth’s relationship with his family, and some very serious issues that pop up in the town involving the kids and teens. I liked that these things all felt like an authentic addition to the story, and an integral part of settling readers into the small town of Thunder Point. It made me feel like I was immersed completely in this town and its residents all over again, and nothing could be better.

By the time I finished The Homecoming, I really could not keep the grin off of my face. I honestly just love this place & these characters so very much, and will basically read anything that comes out involving Thunder Point. I’m eager to get my hands on the next one already!

I absolutely love friends to lovers romances. They're one of my favorite especially when they're friends since childhood. So when I read the summary for this, I was excited to start reading. Unfortunately I was disappointed with it. The book wasn't bad. But it just felt bland to me. Uninteresting. I felt no emotion. I didn't feel any passion or chemistry between the main characters or any of the characters for that matter. I was reading words on a page but nothing more. The romance was also lacking. I was waiting for something to happen with them but it really didn't. When I first learned about what happened from Iris and that Seth didn't remember, I thought oh boy what's going to happen when he finds out the truth of what happened so long ago. But then he does and nothing. He leaves her some little presents, they talk a little bit and then they're together and so in love with each other. Boring. Honestly the story itself was lacking.

I don't think this book or the writing style was for me. It just felt flat, I felt no connection to the characters or the story. I didn't enjoy reading. I thought of just dropping it but continued on, skimming a lot, hoping it would get better. It didn't. This is the first Robyn Carr book I read and I don't know if I'll read another.

The Homecoming
Robyn Carr
Mira, Aug 26 2014, $7.99
ISBN 9780778316442

Seth Sileski left Thunder Point, Oregon on a football scholarship before joining the NFL. His professional career ended with a severe injury. Thus the thirtyish Seth came home to the coastal community after being away except for frequent visits to see his parents since he was eighteen. Recently Seth was placed in charge of the Sheriff’s Department Thunder Point substation.

However, not everyone welcomes back Seth. Thunder Point High School guidance counselor Iris McKinley refuses to speak to him though they were once childhood BFFs. When she finally reveals to him what he did to her while intoxicated, Seth is horrified as he does not recall having sex with the then virgin Iris before breaking her heart. Knowing he done her wrong (with homage by moi to Mae West and Cary Grant), Seth tries to persuade his reluctant beloved Iris to let him make it up to her for the rest of their lives.

The sixth Thunder Point Oregonian romance (see The Promise and The Chance) is a warm second chance contemporary. The lead duet is a likable pair especially the wary Iris while the townsfolk add local character to a charming leisurely-paced novel.

I have no will power where Robyn Carr’s books are concerned. Just like I often eat desert first as soon as I get one of her books I put all other books down and pick hers up. I almost read it in one sitting and I loved the story. Thunder Point continues to grow with new characters and the stories continue to be about people I would love to know.

The Homecoming is a story about second chances. For Seth Sileski it is a second chance in his hometown, with his father and most of all with Iris McKinley. Seth has changed and is back in Thunder Point taking Mac’s place as the deputy assigned to the station there. Thunder Point is not that large and Iris can’t help but run into Seth. The problem - Iris is still nursing a hurt from high school when they were best friends. Turns out Seth does not remember what happened and when he finds out he knows he has a long hard road before he is back in Iris’s good graces.

I loved both characters and look forward to seeing them again in future books. Having said that my only complaint about the series is how characters from previous books are not as visible. Just like I love Seth and Iris I love character from past books and would like to see more of them as the series progresses.

I really enjoy Robin Carr's Thunder Point Series. I have come to know the characters well and enjoy reading more about their lives and about the little town of Thunder Point.

In this volume Seth Sileski comes back to Thunder Point. He is the former high school football star that actually made it all the way to the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. But after a horrific car accident he was no longer able to play football. He has returned to Thunder Point as the town deputy (the Sargent in charge of the three other deputies). He has also returned to see what might be up with his old "best friend," Iris.

Iris is the High School Counselor and loves helping the kids. Her family are the 350 high school students and the teachers at Thunder Point. Her mother, who was Seth's mothers best friend, has died and left a void in Iris' life.

Seth is hoping to restore their friendship and maybe take it to a new level. But Iris wants nothing to do with him because of a very deep past hurt that he doesn't even remember.

The story is sweet. It is wholesome and true to real life. There will be lessons for everyone to learn, such as, can there be true forgiveness for past hurts? Can we set aside the past High School days of pain and become mature adults? Can love be more than a physical attraction? Can a man truly learn to change his ways and become more loving and caring?

Robyn Carr does a wonderful job of developing her stories and her characters. She also does well in incorporating past characters into the new story as well as bring along a few new ones.

Thunder Point becomes your home away from home and reminds you of everything that you miss about your old hometown.

Enjoy!

This modern romance is set on the Oregon coast, in the town of Thunder Point. While there are many locals known to us by now, the story focuses on two people so even a new reader can pick up the story easily.

The lady got a degree in social studies and returned to be guidance counsellor in the school she had left, determined to do a better job than the previous counsellor. The new deputy in town actually went to school with her but headed off to play pro sports, until a car accident ruined his chances. He still limps but does a good job in policing responsibly. Trouble is, he let this lady down when they were young and stupid. Can she get past it? He doesn't even remember what he did wrong, so how can he make it up to her?

The story becomes more serious as it explores the lives of teens at school - beware, there is rather more remembrance of school days, talking about school and being at school than we'd expect in a book for adults. However it does become an adult romance and ends with a drama. Anyone following the series will love it; too much school talk in this particular book for me, but teachers may get inspiration.

Ok, in my review of The Promise I stated that I thought Peyton and Scott were my favorite couple in Thunder Point… I was wrong… Seth and Iris are, for sure, or at least until the next book!

Seth and Iris had been best friends since they were small children. Seth was always looking out for his friend and as they got older that friendship didn’t fade. Through high school Iris counseled him with his woman troubles and he helped her and her single mom anyway he could. Then prom came along and the friendship that had been through so much, that had meant so much, was over.

Seth’s never known why prom ruined things permanently, Iris has kept her distance. After a short-lived professional football career that was destroyed in a car accident Seth has been in law enforcement and is back in his home town with a new job. He wants to make amends with the neighbor girl who had been such a big part of his life… but she’s not going to make it easy.

This was such an amazing story. I grinned like an idiot the majority of time while I read it. Seth’s attempts to woo his old friend made my insides warm and gooey. Their story made me cry and laugh, and laugh and cry. Iris’s every emotion is written so eloquently that it’s so easy to feel – it’s like you are her. There is no pain like a broken heart, but having it broken by your best friend is deadly. I could feel her hurt.

During the entirety of the book you can see the chemistry and connection that kept them best pals all those years. Watching them find that rhythm again was a joy. Reconnection stories are one of my favorites and this one was done wonderfully. Seth and Iris were funny, sexy and real… I’m still smiling!

The Homecoming is #6 in Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series. I love the title of this book, it so aptly fits the story, with Seth returning home, and as well there is a history that he has with Iris around the Homecoming week when they were still at high school. This significant event changed their relationship, one that had a big impact on Iris. Seth himself - not so much, but an event further along in his road has shaped and changed him. Now the two - Iris and Seth, friends since they were youngsters, meet again as Seth returns to his home town.

While Seth was always a good guy, in his youth he was pretty much driven by hormones and heady thoughts of the big time in sport. Now he has changed, life has dealt him a pretty hefty blow, and his values have realigned. He has arrived home to take up a new job as the local deputy in the sheriff's office. He also wants to renew his friendship with Iris - and soon is hoping for more. I loved the way Seth has grown into the man he is today, and I really loved his friendship with Oscar. I don't want to give any part of the story away, so I won't say how they met.

Iris was deeply hurt by Seth, and she is now very guarded with her heart when it comes to Seth. She is doing a great job as a local counsellor in the high school. She is a kind, caring person and very good at her job. Her mother is dead and she never knew who her father was. She has a good friend in Troy - another teacher at the school, who was hoping to be more than that. She also has a friend in Grace who bought the flower shop that Iris' mother owned before she died.

Seth sets out to woo Iris and overcome her resistance to him. Along the way their work brings them together and they find themselves caught up in a family's issues where there is a possibility of bullying and/or abuse. This part of the story was very well done, and the crisis towards the end had me reading on. The final unravelling of this aspect of the story did not leave me surprised.

Another engaging and warm love story, a story that also explores a wealth of relationships, and is full of hope and promise. Robyn Carr is the Queen of small town stories.

I received an ARC from the publisher.

I would have never known this was a book in a series! In fact I didn't know until I started putting together my review and looked it up for links. This is a great stand alone book, even though its the middle of the series, anyone can jump in and read this book. I really enjoyed the authors writing style, and if this book is any indication I think I am going to enjoy reading the rest of the series.

I'm a big fan of second chance books and I am also a big fan of best friends getting together, so put the two themes together and I am happy girl. So in this book Seth has come back home to the town where he grew up and was once the town's football star, only now he's a cop. He's a really solid guy, he's messed up in his youth, got in a car accident that ended his pro-football career and left him with a limp, but he's made good with his life. And he's back in town to find a way to repair the relationships he has with his father and his old best friend who won't even speak to him anymore, Iris.

Iris, she holds a grudge against Seth, she was basically in love with him in high school and he totally took her for granted, and thanks to one drunken night he ruined their friendship forever, or so she thought. Iris is a great character, I could totally relate to her, truthfully speaking she reminds me a bit of my mom, a do-gooder, a degree in social work, and just a good all around person (my mom to a T, and she's super awesome). It was easy for me to like Iris, she cares so much about the people around her, and who doesn't love that.

When Iris finally starts letting Seth back into her life, I was thrilled. I loved their dynamic. Iris is so resistant to anything with Seth, but he just keeps pushing forward. He's never to forceful, but yet he's always there. He helps out when she's sick, brings her meals, and in general is just trying to prove that he can be there for her and that he doesn't take her for granted. I loved that about him.

I also really loved the plot line with Iris and her students. It's kind of a way for both Seth and Iris to get involved in a joint issue. It's brought to Iris's attention that one of her students might be being abused although there is no proof and no idea who is doing the abusing. It's great to watch Seth and Iris come together to try and help this girl, and the conclusion of this story line was great.

All in all I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good contemporary romance, especially if you have ever had a relationship with someone you wanted to repair, these characters are totally relatable and easy to completely fall in love with.

I have read all of the books in Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series. "The Homecoming" is the latest book. In it, we get the story of Seth and Iris. They were best friends in their youth but a mix-up about a prom date destroyed the friendship way back when. At least, that is what Seth thinks. It turns out that there was more to the mix-up than just a broken date but Iris has been quiet about it for years.

Seth was the football star of his high school years and was shortlisted for the Heisman trophy in his first year of college - he went pro and then a horrible car accident cut short his career and almost ended his life. He is now a police deputy and is back in Thunder Point. He wants to reconnect with Iris, but she is still holding him at arms' length.

This is one of the funniest books of the series because these two characters are just hysterical. The way they snip and snipe at each other makes it clear that they were best buds from a very young age on. The question is, can they overcome the loss of trust that the "prom" incident created? Can Iris ever truly forgive Seth? Amidst a bunch of laughs, we find out.

The story also deals with the very serious issue of physical abuse in relationships and how that can cause of chain of abusive relationships to start. As with the other books, Ms. Carr gives us a lot to think about as we read the story. I like the way she updates the history of the other characters we have met in prior series, it really gives the set of books a feeling of real life that is quite frequently missing in book series. She also sets up the story to give us a taste of new couples we may see in the future. It looks like high school history teacher (an ex-marine) Troy may have met his match in the new flower store own Grace.

Once again, Robyn Carr draws readers in to the Thunder Point community full of quirky characters and small town fun. The Homecoming is another of the books in this popular series with a second chance at love for two popular characters. Seth has returned to Thunder Point as a Deputy Sheriff, when once he was a football star whose life took a life changing turn when he is involved in a tragic accident. His next door neighbor and best friend while growing up has grown into a beautiful and successful young woman and school counselor. What was a bitter parting after high school has brought the old hurts back once Seth and Iris are living in the same town.
The Homecoming is a heartwarming story with a cast of characters that are so likable and endearing. Robyn Carr brings the story and the setting to vivid life and made this reader feel like a part of the community.

Seth is a likable character from the onset. He is a handsome, noble guy who cares for his Momma. You know the type. As Carr peeled back his layers and revealed more of this man, I swooned ladies. I. Just. Swooned. Iris McKinley is a true sweetheart, and someone I could easily friend. She works as a guidance counselor at Thunder Point high and I loved the voice Carr gave her. Snark, wicked banter and heated kisses made the tale delicious. There is a little competition for Seth, and I liked that Carr did not push it too far, adding just enough tension to make things interesting.

While The Homecoming focuses on the romance between Seth and Iris, we do get some interesting side stories and one addresses a serious issue. Carr did her research, and enlightened while creating a suspenseful thread and introducing more characters to become invested in. I seriously want to back my bags and move. I love that I am now able to close my eyes and envision the main street, the local hangouts and the football field. Copy received from publisher, full review at caffeinated book reviewer.

This was another Robyn Carr book I purchased for my mom. And once again, she has read it in 2 days and then she tells me how really good the book was to read. This is a new author that mom had not read before last week and after reading 2 or Robyn Carr’s books, mom wants to make sure I am getting her all of Robyn’s books. The Homecoming is about Seth Sileski coming home after making some mistakes in life. Seth must repair his reputation in his small hometown of Thunder Point. The kind of small hometown that everyone knows everyone and everyone knows everyones business. Seth was the superb athlete and scholar before leaving Thunder Point and is returning to try and repair all the damage he has done in the past.
This is another well written book by Robyn Carr, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author.
I will continue to get my mom any of Robyn Carr’s books.

Robyn Carr’s Series of Romance Novel’s set in Thunderpoint, Oregon near Coos Bay is a better than average set of novels or I wouldn’t be reading them. I’ve visited the area and loved it. Her characters are well developed and continue to appear in succeeding editions. In short these aren’t cut out figures used as a means of writing about bedroom gymnastics. It’s there of course but these people have lives outside the bedroom.

That being said this particular entry is totally predictable, the outcome telegraphed from the opening chapters. Boy next door is best friends with girl next door. Fails to appreciate his true feelings and hurts hers. Years later they reconcile. This isn’t a spoiler, the plot is self-evident from the beginning. What make the book worth the read is the fact that both the lovers in this tale have professional lives and family and friends who interact with them. Thunderpoint is a small town and everyone knows everybody.

When I can't put a book down until I finish it, it's clearly five stars. THE HOMECOMING, latest in the Thunder Point series, qualified in spades. Perhaps why I'm so bleary-eyed today. Seth Sileski comes home to Thunder Point intent in getting his father to understand what really happened with a car accident ended his pro-football career with the Seahawks. A second goal is to make up with his former best friend. Since their senior year right before the prom, Iris McKinley, now a high school counselor, has had nothing but scowls for him. But he's always loved her. Or has he? Maybe what he feels is just what being a good friend should feel. (Guess again, Seth.)

When he finally learns WHY Iris is so prickly with him, he's abashed and will do whatever he can so she'll forgive him.

When two high schoolers become involved in a violent encounter, confirming what Iris had suspected, how both Iris and Seth, now the Deputy Sheriff in town, resolve the situation also provides the vehicle by which they come to the ultimate conclusion to their slowly-evolving relationship.

If you want to be grabbed by the scruff of the neck and FORCED to sit and read until you finish the book, pick up THE HOMECOMING. You won't regret it.

Robyn Carr's one of my all-time favorite authors and her "Virgin River" series I could read over and over again.
Small-town romance is this author's specialty and in the "Thunder Point" series she takes us to the coast of Oregon.
Seth Sileski leaves Thunder Point as a football star to play in the NFL and after a tragic accident returns years later as the towns deputy sheriff. One of his goals is to reconnect with Iris McKinley who had been his best friend since they were children. They had a hurtful disagreement in their senior year of high school, which destroyed their friendship, and now Seth is convinced that Iris is the love of his life. Can he convince her too?
Robyn Carr has always created such wonderful, memorable characters and Seth Sileski has to be one of her best. He is an admirable man with the best outlook on life.
I look forward to the next book in the Thunder Point series.

This is book # 6 in the Thunder Point series and details, almost exclusively, the relationship between Seth and Iris. It explores their childhood relationship, events of their adolescence and their adult rapport. I like that they both have realistic work lives and are well integrated into the life of the town.

I can only go 3 stars for this book because although I love the series, there was just not enough of the other characters to be cohesive. I missed Mac, Cooper, Sarah and Gina. There was a throw away line about Sarah and Cooper's baby daughter and I found myself wondering when that happened! This book could have been a stand alone without the backstory of the other characters in the town. I found that I missed them.

There is some great, solid work hear about domestic and relationship abuse. It is very well written.

I needed this book after the last book I had read (not in the same series but a different kind of book altogether). I am enjoying Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series. I think there's really only one book in the series that I've been bleh about and "The Homecoming" was definitely not that book as the 5 star rating attests.

"The Homecoming" has all my happy triggers in a romance: Old love, childhood friends, redemption, making things right and all that. Seth was the golden boy of a small town and then he wasn't when he had a bad accident that wrecked his promising athletic career. Being from a small town, the reputation he sowed is the one that has stuck. That's just how it is in small towns so his homecoming is one with many challenges.

I liked Seth a lot and I liked Iris, his childhood best friend and the girl who loved him. I like that Seth didn't get everything he had wanted and has to earn his way back. So he's the key for me and he was exactly the type of romantic hero that I could enjoy and if there are any other faults in the story, he more than made up for them.

Not sure if this is the last book in the series but if it is, it goes out on a lovely note.

I had to start this book as soon as I finished The Promise. I am hooked on small town romances and Robyn Carr is one of the best at this genre.

Seth Sileski is returning to Thunder Point as the Dept. Sheriff replacing Mac who is being promoted to head-quarters. Seth has been gone for 17 tears after graduating from hight school with only occasional trips back to visit his family. His life has changed quite a bit since he went to college and then became a professional football player. When he left there was a misunderstanding between him and his lifelong friend Iris McKinley. He can not forget her and occasionally dreams of her. She can not put him behind and move on with her life either. Now when they have both grown up, maybe they can resolve their differences.

The characters in all Robyn Carr's books really come alive and capture you in their stories.

A part of a series that I have come to love and I anticipate every new episode in this fun town in Oregon that is just the perfection of small town. Each book centers around a different person in the town - usually a new move in and this one centers around Seth who is moving back to this town where he grew up and made some mistakes as a kid and will now be the new deputy and have to show the town and some certain people that he is a different man.

Seth and Iris had an interesting story that was a little different from the others because it took the reader into a little history of the town through their friendship and high school days. Being a cop's wife, I thought this book would be right down my alley and I appreciated having a police officer as a central character, but this one just didn't live up to the ones before. The thing I love from Robyn Carr is the sweeping love story and for some reason this one didn't quite sweep me off my feet. BUT if you have been reading this series, I would still read this one because you may need some of the back story for a future book.

I've never been disappointed by anything this author puts to paper! Real emotion, devastation, drama and humor. Amazing characters with wit and sass. A few not so nice people but you get the jist, you just can't have one without the other.

I like the way Robyn incorporates the previous characters, just a touch. Developing new characters with all their baggage and emotions. I love a strong female character that knows how to throw a punch and a man that can take it. It's real easy to fall in love with the people from Thunder Point. I love Oscar! Great read! More PLEASE!

In "The Homecoming" author Robyn Carr hits another great note. In this edition, the focus is on Seth Sileski who is returning to Thunder Point. A former athlete and scholar, and local phenom, Seth left after a career-ending injury that brought his football career to an abrupt end. Pride got the best of him then. Now he has returned and is looking to mend his relationship with his father, even as he also has a chance to reconnect with his childhood friend Iris and see where they stand in friendship and potentially in love. Like always, the characters are well develop, with an appropriately paced and vastly engaging story line. I love that we also get to catch up with favorite characters of old from prior books. Another great one, leaves me waiting for the next!

I have read quite a few books from the Thunder Point series. My favorite is The Chance: Book 4 of Thunder Point series.

I wanted to like this book because I like the theme of people getting back together again later in life. I like the idea of a shared history. Seth and Iris were best friends since they were younger. Iris has been pining for Seth since they were young. It is a story of heartbreak and young and immature people. It had all the elements for a good read but it was just so slow. The book can be cut in half and still have all the required information.

Like the rest of this series, I have enjoyed each and every book along the way. I love becoming a part of a small town, in this case, Thunderpoint, and getting to know all of its residents. Most of the characters are introduced in one book or another and just as you are thinking that they need their story told, they end up with their own story, and off you go again.

The books are well written and if you enjoy a series, you'll enjoy this series. It takes place in a factious town named Thunderpoint located on the west coast. Beautiful scenery. Wonderful characters. You can't ask for more than that.

The Homecoming is another good addition to the Thunder Point series. It was quite different from the other books, I thought. Yes, there’s romance for Seth and Iris and they have issues to work through, but, at the forefront, is the issue of possible physical and verbal abuse – at Thunder Point High School. I thought Carr did a good job with this storyline. The novel culminated with a dramatic scene. As everything played out – the pages almost turned themselves.

I can’t wait to read Carr’s next book in the Thunder Point series and hope I don’t have to wait too long. Recommended to fans of Contemporary/Small Town Romance and Robyn Carr.

I always share Robyn Carr’s books with the women in my life so I can draw on their impressions. “The Homecoming” is one of the Thunder Point novel series set in the picturesque town of Thunder Point, Oregon. The man character, Seth Sileski, returns home to show his father and the people of Thunder Point that he is a better and more humble person than the high school football player they remember. Seth has an even bigger challenge when he tries to get his childhood neighbor and best friend, Iris, to forgive him for breaking her heart. Robyn Carr is an excellent storyteller. Her characters interact well and she lays the groundwork for future books. “The Homecoming” is an enjoyable read and leaves the reader looking forward to future tales from Thunder Point.

Thunder Point is a town that one might long to be a part of. Seth seemed to have it all, looks, popularity and an ability to play a great game of football. He signs as a pro but an accident ends his career and he returns to Thunder Point. He realizes now that his best friend Iris should have been the girl he was faithful to and he has a lot of past mistakes to make up for.

This book continues the series regarding the town and people of Thunder Point. It is a stand-alone book; but one comes to the realization that the people, their lives and stories are good to read about, even the curmudgeons are interesting.
This is a book for those who like people, and the story of life in an enjoyable place.

I simply adored Iris and Seth's story. What a wonderful man Seth is, with everything he's done. Even when I wanted to be mad at him, I couldn't!

It was wonderful how Robyn Carr brought attention to so many things young people face. Whether it's learning to take responsibility for your actions or speaking up when you see someone in trouble. Although this book and this series are geared toward adults, the message of this particular book would be wonderful for many young people to read.

My only real regret with this book is that I am caught up in this series and now have to wait for the next book to be published before reading more about this charming town and its citizens.

I can always count on Robyn Carr for a good, solid small-town romance, and she delivers again in 'The Homecoming'. Seth is a new character for the series, though we've briefly seen his family in previous books. Seth is finally back in town after over a decade away. He's taking Mac's place as the town policeman, while Mac has been promoted and will be working in a larger town not far away. Seth is very conscientious, spending a lot of time learning what has changed in the town, where the potential trouble spots are, etc. He's a really good cop and a fundamentally good person, and I fell for him immediately.

Iris McKinley is good at her job, too; as guidance counselor at the local high school, she deals with everything from hurt feelings and withdrawal after a friendship blows up, to bullying and domestic abuse. When she and a fellow teacher begin to suspect a student is being abused, they have to report it, which gets Seth involved as well.

Best friends in their childhood and teens, Seth and Iris had a falling out in their senior year of high school, and Iris hasn't wanted anything to do with Seth since. For a guidance counselor, she's really bad at dealing with her own feelings, and she's not able to forgive and move on. She has just cause to be upset - more so than Seth knows -- and I could totally understand how she felt, but I still wished she could put it behind her. Yet despite her anger and bitterness, she's never really gotten over Seth, and she knows it.

Seth comes across as the more mature of the two as the book begins -- and he has certainly had reasons enough to grow up. He made a dreadful mistake in college, one which cost more than his football career, and he took responsibility and grew from the experience. For all that, he's initially clueless about his real feelings toward Iris. All Seth knows is that he really, really wants to be friends again, and he's not taking "No" for an answer.

As is often the case in a small town, almost everyone knows or is linked to everyone else in some way, and the results aren't always comfortable. Besides the past that Seth and Iris share, Seth's high-school ex-girlfriend lives in Thunder Point, separated but still married -- and very much still interested in Seth. Her daughter attends the high school where Iris is a guidance counselor. Iris used to date the teacher who spotted the possible abuse, and he's still interested in Iris. The sometimes awkward connections make Seth's and Iris's jobs, and especially working out their personal relationship, a bit more difficult.

Watching Seth pursue Iris, first as a friend and soon as a woman, is a lot of fun. He's persistent, he has a good sense of humor, and he's not afraid to admit when he was in the wrong -- all characteristics he needs in his effort to persuade Iris to give the adult Seth a chance. Iris has some healing as well as growing up to do; luckily she gets a nudge in the right direction from a friend.

Some of Carr's books deal with current issues, and in this case, it's physical abuse, as Iris, Seth, and others try to determine who is abusing a young student and ensure her safety. But Iris, in her anger at Seth, hits out at him more than once during the course of the story. It's presented matter-of-factly and as somewhat of a continuation of their childhood relationship, but it really bothered me; violence is just as unacceptable from a woman toward a man as the other way around. However, I was pleased to see that both Carr and Iris address the issue in the end.

That one qualm aside, I really enjoyed The Homecoming and look forward to visiting Thunder Point again in the next book!

Seth Sileski had his whole future set at the age of twenty. He was popular, a signed up football player just waiting to become a star and so very handsome but one accident took everything away from him.
Now he is back in Thunder Point and even though many years have passed but the people of the town, his father and his best friend, Iris haven't forgotten his past mistakes.
Will Seth be able to prove that he is different now?
Can he earn the trust of his loved ones again?

This is the first book by Robyn Carr that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Although The Homecoming is the sixth book in the Thunder Point series but still it is a standalone story and I didnt feel any issues reading it out of order.

The cover of the book is lovely and catchy. The blurb is intriguing and after reading it, I knew that I had to read the book!

The story, although a bit predictable is handled beautifully and Robyn makes it her very own. I loved the beautiful sketches of Thunder Point that the author creates in the readers' mind. The cozy small town where time is frozen and where everyone knows everyone. The people of Thunder are nosy but still so caring and sweet. I wish to visit such a place someday.
The characterization is diverse and very vividly done. People are very often complex and this is what Robyn shows in the various characters in Thunder Point. I loved Seth. He was terribly hurt in the accident but still has never lost hope and managed to turn his life around. I loved his tenacity in trying to earn the trust of his father and Iris. The romance between Iris and Seth flows slowly and builds sweetly. They were once best friends and I loved the whole experience of watching them come closer again and finally acknowledge their true feelings for each other.

There is so much depth in the story. There are relationships that touch our heart and bring tears in our eyes. There are events that make us feel happy and satisfied. There is the moral of trying to live your life to the fullest and it is never too late to go after happiness.

All in all, this is a sweet and enjoyable story that can be read anytime, I give The Homecoming full 5 on 5 and recommend it to everyone. I absolutely loved the book and am going to checkout more books in this series and others by the author.

I enjoyed this book by Robyn Carr. I've read a lot of the books in the series, but I don't think you have to to enjoy this book. It is the story of Seth and Iris, a couple who get together after having been friends and then separated for many years.

It is a very light read. Nothing too stressful in it, which I like, just a nice pleasant book with a nice happy ending. I liked the characters a lot - Seth, a decent guy who had and then lost the career of a lifetime and the hometown girl who was hurt years ago. I found it very easy to read, and it kept my interest, which a lot of romances don't. The writing is very competent. I would recommend both the book and series in general.

Quick summary
Seth Sileski was once a high school football phenom in Thunder Point, actually excelling in college and playing with the Seattle Seahawks before a tragic accident sidelined him. Now he's back home as the new deputy sheriff in charge, hoping to repair his fractured relationships with his father and his once best friend, Iris McKinley.

Story conflict
Seth and Iris were best friends and neighbors since they were 4-years old until a heartbreaking incident involving their senior prom. It's been 17 years but Iris still hasn't let go of her resentment. (You just know there's more to this.) She's a high school counselor who's dealing with what looks to be a student suffering in some abusive relationship.

What I liked
Both Seth and Iris are extremely well developed characters, which is one of Carr's strengths in most of her stories, and even their broken relationship was nicely portrayed. Their journey back to friendship and eventually lovers hooked me because their individual transformations were so interesting. The secondary story of the student abuse provided insight about the challenges faced by school officials in how to identify and cope with the issue. And, of course, the updates about the other relationships are always a treat, another Carr staple.

The bottom line
The romance is the highlight here and is underwhelmed by the secondary storylines. Seth and Iris are pretty appealing and I enjoyed their banter. While the story about the abused teenager was well done, the ending resolution felt a bit rushed and I'm still a bit uncertain about one of the outcomes. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this story and return to Thunder Point.

The Homecoming by Robyn Carr is a delightfully heartwarming instalment in the Thunder Point series, focusing on the relationships of the locals of a small town, with each book featuring a different couple, we also get point of views of various residents throughout the book.

Seth Sileski is back in town as the new Deputy after years away, wanting to reconnect with his childhood best-friend Iris McKinley the local school counsellor, years ago when they were both teenagers a misunderstanding tore these friends apart and Iris hasn't spoken to him since, but Seth is determined that the girl he fell in love with years ago will hopefully return his feelings.

Filled with romance, action and drama this may just be my favorite book of the series so far, Robyn has created a cast of characters that will keep you entertained and happy to be back in Thunder Point, these books I easily finish in one sitting, I always know that when I pick up a book in this series I'm in for a good time.

I look forward to the next book, the next couple as well as my next visit to Thunder Point.

I read the first three Thunder Point books: The Hero, The Newcomber, and The Wanderer but somehow have missed The Promise and The Chance. I was concerned that I would be left behind without having read the precious two books but that wasn't the case. The book very rarely brought up characters and past storylines in The Homecoming. I really enjoyed both main characters Seth and Iris. The author gave them depth that allows the reader to feel like they know and understand them. It was a wonderful story of righting past wrongs and solidifying a past relationship. It was such a quick read because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen.

I just love this author and this series. Each series always introduces new characters which are woven into the intricacies of Thunderpoint. Such an interesting town. I love the character Seth. He picks himself up after such a letdown in his younger years and goes after his one true love. You really get to know Robyn's characters. Will I say that this my favorite in this series....well no not quite. There are some characters that aren't in this one that I really like...but hey it would get stale. But all in all an EXCELLENT read!!!

I am thoroughly enjoying the Thunder Point Series. Robyn Carr offers readers another solid romance with The Homecoming. Each book can stand alone, but I heartily recommend that you read the series. There are crossover characters but you will not be massively spoiled if you read them out of order. The Homecoming has an intriguing premise and the storyline completes the promise extremely well. As always, the settings are beautifully detailed, the characters multi layered and vibrant, the dialogue sharp and witty, and the pacing even and controlled.

My Review:
I think that this has been my favorite book in this series so far. I really liked this one!

Seth has come home for two reasons...
1. To find some way to connect with his father who has never forgiven him for losing his chances at his NFL career.
2. To reconnect with his childhood and adolescent best friend, Iris. They had a disagreement their senior year in high school over the prom and things have never been the same between them since, even though they were best friends since the age of four.

Everything about the backstory in this one worked for me. Seth was king as a teenager. He literally had life by the balls...fabulous football player and charming with great looks. The problem...he was a teenager so he had the lack of maturity that went along with all that too. Ultimately that cost him a whole heck of a lot, but he's older now and has definitely learned from his mistakes.

One of those mistakes was Iris and unfortunately, Seth has no clue the depth of what he really did on that night before prom...he was drunk and doesn't remember. But Iris wasn't drunk and she can't forgive or forget the fact that she was the only one putting forth an effort in their very one-sided relationship. That night was the final straw for her.

This book is all about second chances and making things right after everything goes completely wrong. Like I said before, everything about the back stories here worked for me. Seth is the character with the huge emotional character arc on this one, but a lot of that growth happened before the book ever started. He is so conscious of how he screwed everything up when he was younger. He only wants to fix that. There is so much to admire about this guy...his relationship and support of Oliver, his entire career choice which was never easy after his injury, his realization that he's never had a woman affect him like Iris and he knows that's something precious that he threw away.

But Iris isn't a pushover. She knows that her heart is in jeopardy when it comes to Seth. Her feelings for him, no matter how mad or hurt she was, have never completely dissolved. I definitely felt for her as she was just trying to protect her heart from shattering again...even in the midst of their rekindling friendship. I also love how up-front she is about everything...even though it can be humiliating. She's not afraid to put herself out there as long as it involves complete honesty.

There's also several side stories going on that I also really enjoyed...the high school abuse, Troy's crush on Iris. I'm hoping Troy and Grace connect eventually. I love Troy and think there's so much more to him that hasn't been revealed yet.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This is Robyn Carr in top form. Readers should be warned that she surprisingly uses a little heavy language for a couple of characters. This isn't like the author, so her fans need to be warned. Also, she doesn't update us as much as she normally does, so this isn't as good a stand alone as most of her books. More importantly, she delivers a very comfy book her readers can curl up with and enjoy. Secrets are here, of course, and the characters are given sufficient time to work them out. Naturally, this is basically a woman's book, but we guys can appreciate Robyn's writing and story telling skill.

I've recently become a big fan of Robyn Carr and the Thunder Point series. The Homecoming is another example of Ms Carr's well-written romance novels that are perfect for a quiet weekend to relax and unwind before the next busy week. In The Homecoming Seth returns home a duration after a terrible accident alters his path away from a football career. I don't believe in spoilers in my reviews, just suffice it to say The Homecoming is worthy of a relaxing read.

5 STARS

I love Thunder Point. The Homecoming did not disappoint. It was full of drama, romance, heavy issues and a community of characters.
I love the characters. There are always a main couple and a whole town of secondary characters that some are old friends and others are new characters.

Seth Sileski is back home. He is the new deputy that has taken Mac's place. He grew up in Thunder Point. Now he is home. He is single. Made some errors in his past. Wants to keep the town safe. He also wants to be friends again with Iris.

Iris is a guidance counselor at the high school. Seth and her were best friends till their senior year. She is still hurt from it.
She has no family left. She still lives next door to Seth's parents house.

Some of the issues that this book deals in is speeding and distracted driving how it took things away from two families. Abuse and other issues that effect teens.

I did not put the book down till I was finished reading. Robyn weaves stories that make you care about the people and makes you think about helping others, and reaching out to those around you. I am always sad to put the book down and say good by to new friends till her next book is out.

There is a couple of love scenes that I skipped over.

The setting for Thunder Point is a small coastal town in Oregon around Coos Bay area.

Good pacing of the story.

One scene in the book that I loved was at the medical clinic. When Seth needed stitches. Dr. Scott's kids were their telling Seth it would only hurt a little. They wanted to watch him get the stitches. They were so cute.

I would read more of Robyn Carr's books in the future.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give honest review of it.

Welcome back to Thunder Point. After reading this, I swear I’m moving here.

Carr brings this fantastic world to life in the most complete way. One can easily picture Thunder Point and its surroundings through her intricate yet natural descriptions. The storyline was captivating. Carr combines past heartbreak with present healing to take you on a very emotional ride. Throw in a dash of heat and some unexpected trouble and you have a winner. Carr also tackles some very difficult and touchy subjects that most of us try not to think about in our everyday lives. She does so with tact, but definitely packs a punch.

The history between the characters was heartbreaking. Seeing them go from what was & what might have been to what is was profoundly enriching. I could easily put myself in both the main characters’ shoes. Carr develops them in such a manner that you not only get to know them but can also identify with them. It brings this story to a whole new emotional level.

This is one of those novels that could be read as a standalone or as part of the series. Carr gives you all of the background on the main characters and tells their complete story in this novel. That said, for a deeper context and a more well-rounded view of Thunder Point and its inhabitants, I would suggest reading the series in order.

This is a heart-warming, heartbreaking, healing story. It’s the perfect tale to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea (or glass of wine) and enjoy. I definitely did.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Robyn Carr is a automatic buy for me and I am never sorry. I enjoyed this book very much. However, I could see where some readers might get confused by all of the flashbacks sprinkled throughout the
this book. I thought most of them were necessary to the story, but some might not and probably could have been eliminated.

However, I still enjoyed the book and will continue to keep her on my automatic read list.

The character development and attention to detail bring the reader into this charming town, and they quickly befriend each of the citizens! The everyday challenges and opportunities that are shared are the endearing foundation stones for a treasured mini vacation to Thunder Point! Thanks for an intriguing trip Robin! Can't wait to return! While this IS a snippet of a series it can stand alone, however, I recommend a visit to the full series,as each character is legendary and quickly loved!

The Homecoming by Robyn Carr: Seth and Iris were very good friends gowning up. They had a falling out around prom time and never made up. Seth was a football player and had a big head. One night he was driving to fast and hit a truck that had ran a stop sign.
Seth has come to terms with his life. But now he's been presented with an opportunity to return home. He hoped he could show Iris
that he has changed and get her back.
I like the way she handled the abuse at school.
Robyn Carr did a good job one this book.

THE HOMECOMING is one of my favorite Thunder Point novels. It moves away from some of our favorite characters and introduces us to Seth Sileski and Iris McKinley. Former best friends, they grew apart when Seth broke Iris’ heart. Iris is a guidance counselor at the Thunder Point high school and Seth is a police officer, recently returned to Thunder Point. Seth is no longer the same dumb and reckless teenager he was when he left Thunder Point. He’s gone through a lot, which has matured him greatly and he wants everyone to see the difference. Iris isn’t so sure about Seth and is quite busy trying to find out what is happening to one of her students. While I agreed with Iris’ reasons for being so angry at Seth, it was hard for Seth to understand as he had no clue what he did wrong. While the main characters weren’t any of the ‘regulars’, the regulars are an integral part of the town and had their own appearances. THE HOMECOMING dealt with topical issues which made sense within the theme of the story. A well-written story, with characters who fit the Thunder Point mold, THE HOMECOMING is a marvelous addition to this series!

Seth has returned home after years away. Hoping to reconnect with friends and finally get back in his father's good graces after the tragic accident that ended his football career, Seth hires on as a policeman with the Thunder Point police force. But what he really wants is to see Iris again. Iris was his best friend since childhood, but sometime in high school, something happened and Iris no longer wanted to be friends with him. Seth believes that it Iris hated him because he told her he would take her to prom when he and his girlfriend broke up, but they immediately made up and he took the girlfriend instead of Iris. What Seth doesn't know is that there was more to the story, he just didn't remember it.
Iris has lived her life happily in Thunder Point. She became a high school counselor and sold her mother's flower shop after her mother passed away (becoming great friends with the new owner). And Iris wants absolutely nothing to do with Seth. But Seth is determined to find out why Iris hates him and to get back in her favor. Iris was, after all, the best friend he ever had.

The first couple books in this series I thought were lacking, but I believe they are getting much better with each new one. I liked Iris, and I liked how much she cared for her students. I laughed when she punched Seth. That was hilarious! He got what he deserved! Iris was pretty ticked that Seth didn't remember what happened between them, but in a fit of anger she told him, Seth felt absolutely awful. It was around then that Iris began to forgive him. Seth is a rather persistent fellow, so he woos her, even if she doesn't realize it.

Iris and Seth were best friends from the age of four until they were seventeen, when something major happened and Iris ended their relationship and Seth had no idea why. Seth left for college on a football scholarship and was drafted into the NFL in freshman year of college. He was in a terrible car accident and he lost it all. He is now and cop and has come back to Thunder Point after being gone for 17 years. Iris is the counselor at the high school in Thunder Point, she truly enjoys her job and loves helping the teens with all their problems. Even after 17 years she is still mad at Seth and he is determined to find out why and to get their friendship back.

I enjoyed this book, all of the characters were great. I loved that some real life situations were addressed and showed the proper way of handling things. The characters were so real, you really felt that you knew them personally. I love story find chance stories and this is one of the best I've read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Homecoming by Robyn Carr is about a former high school football star returning home to the small town he grew up in. He’s looking to salvage the relationship with his father and rekindle his friendship with his former best friend Iris. Unbeknownst to Seth, Iris has always held a secret crush on him. This is comfort reading at its best. It makes you feel good about life, about people, and it really makes you want to visit the Pacific Northwest.

A real good, feel good, story. Robyn Carr always produces books that are fun to read, full of family ties and good friends--and always with a twist or two. The Homecoming is just such a story. If you like your reading to be relaxed, with a happy-ever-after ending, you'll enjoy this book.

Two people: Her trying hard not to fall in love again, and Him trying his best to get her attention. From sweet to sweeter, this story is great.

Three strikes...this is the third book I've read by this author, and I'm giving up on her. First, we have quaint, but mildly hardscrabble, town perched on the Pacific. Second, we have the usual bunch of unusually good-looking and hardworking men and women, most of whom are either the heroes and heroines of previous entries in this series (this is the 6th in the Thunder Point series) or will clearly be featured in the future. Third - and this isn't giving anything away - it's published by Harlequin MIRA, so you know before you open the book that it will focus on a hero and heroine, they will triumph over every real or imagined obstacle by the end, and there will be explicit sex. None of that would normally turn me off. Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series is bending one of my bookshelves at nearly 16 entries and I'm still buying them, quaint town, fine heroes/heroines, sex and all. But something about Carr's writing is just wooden. I don't feel any frisson between Seth and Iris. I don't buy into the premise that a badly injured man can become a law enforcement agent. The dialogue tends to hang in mid-air. It isn't particularly witty. The whole book is mediocre. If you want a brainless couple of hours in Romanceland, fine, but you could do better.

his is the next in the series of the Thunder Point series. Seth has come back to Thunder Point after his football career died after an automobile accident. He will be the new sheriff in town with Mac moving on. His father is disappointed in him for ruining his chance at money and fame. Will his ex-love, Iris, the love of his life and best friend forgive him and try over with him again? Iris can forgive but not forget the pain and humiliation and loss of her virginity when Seth was in a drunk and she gave him her ALL many years ago. Thunder Point has a way of renewing loves and old friendships. This book was okay, but lacked the suspense, excitement and fun her other books have had. After I have read some of her older mysteries, I would love to see her write some new mysteries, with romance of course, and maybe put away the series for a while. I can't say I am sad this is the last book of this series. It read too much like Virgin River Series.

For a series to be a consistent four stars means the author is definitely doing something right. Again, I encourage you to read these in order or you will lose a lot of character development that really helps to make the individual stories come alive. The characters return once again, and even if they are just side characters, it's fun to see how they are doing. But...this didn't seem to happen as much in this one - I wanted to see a little more.

This latest installment to the Thunder Point series was a major disappointment for me- stilted dialogue, borning protagonists, unrealistic conflict, etc. Seth and Irene were just boring, and the fact that Irene spend her whole life being crushed by her prom night experience only to forgive Seth once it all came out was just annoying. The whole abuse issue was poorly handled in my opinion- if my first thought on the ID of the abuser was correct, I'm worried about a trained counselor who never even thought about that possibility. The way Seth trolled about the town in the beginning made him seem less like a lawman and more like a stalker looking for trouble, and I definitely got tired of hearing Irene talk about her master's degree. All in all this book was shockingly bad compared to other entries in the series.

I enjoyed The Homecoming: Book 6 of Thunder Point series by Robyn Carr but it was a little slow. I felt she did not give the characters enough time for us as the readers to develop a true commitment to them. She makes a strong point about the problem of bullying in high school which children and adults face not only at school but at home. I wish she would have touch more on this subject in the book. It just seemed fractured to me. To many story lines in one book, but a good read....yet end rather abruptly so I hope we see the story continue for Seth and Iris.

I've had a hard time getting into the Thunder Point series. The problem in general has been that the personalities of the characters are almost indistinguishable from the others--for example, Spencer and Scott, and Devon and Layne. As characters are added, I start not caring what the ones in the past do. This book is by far the best in the series. Both Iris and Seth are well-delineated, and the plot is more interesting in this book than in the others in the series. I really liked feisty Iris. She was his best friend but somehow she has not forgiven him. Until a fit of anger does she tell him the truth. He is stunned. So now he knows why he is back. He has found the one. He now has to convince Iris that she can trust him. She does not make it easy. But anything worthwhile should never be easy. I love that her job as counselor syncs up well with his in law enforcement. Loved the ending. Also loved the shout out to Virgin River.

Excellent book. Highly recommend this book to everyone. Excellent story line kept your interest and attention making it hard to put down. Robyn has outdone herself. Ready for the next book in the series.

Another 5 star book to add to the Thunder Point series. Robyn Carr has written a book that brings romance, relationships and current issues, that are faced each day in the real world, and blended it all into a wonderful story. Seth and Iris could be your neighbors, your friends or 2 people who bring so much to small town America that it is easy to identify with them. Add them to the list of the wonderful characters we have gotten to know from all of Robyn's books.

Another great book by Robyn Carr. I have fallen in love with all the folks in Thunder Point. I just love to visit there in her books. The characters are so real and flawed that you just connect with them. I love that she brings an issue into each book. It makes you stop and think. Looking forward to the next visit to Thunder Point.

This is #6 in the Thunder Point novels and each one you meet different characters that you get attached to. With each book that Ms. Carr writes in this series you will always be excited to what characters you already know from her previous books and I love that.
