Jonathan lays out a clear road map for those who want to become self employed. The book is somewhat long winded and, from my point of view, could use some editing. On balance, however, it achieved its objectives.

I have truly enjoyed this book. Not only is it very inspiring, it gives several practical ideas for generating income. I really didn't know how I ended up with this book because it isn't my genre. However, after reading it I understood. The law of attraction and several spiritual themes are in play throughout the book. I am truly hoping this book becomes life changing for me.

The author mentions numerous times that he has daily word count goals when writing the book, and you really feel it when reading it. It's disorganized and way longer than it needs to be.

He talks about what an amazing, persuasive writer he is, and how he's able to generate content so quickly. Again, this book would benefit from some tight editing and an author that is not so convinced of his abilities.

I don't have a lot of takeaways from this book. Anything in here has been said much better elsewhere - your time is better spent with books under the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section.

I read the ebook. It's not short but it's an easy read, so I read it all. The 19.99 USD price for the softcover is definitely not worth it.

The author lost some credibility with me when he talked about getting his start on the Warrior Forum, which is 99% aspiring info marketers peddling scammy info products. He made an info product called "Girl Gets Ring" and is a self-proclaimed dating authority.

There is a lot of ego in this book, and you get the sense that the author is engaging in a bit of a confidence game, which is very consistent with the Warrior Forum/info marketer style of doing business, where you decide to promote yourself as an expert, and then you over-promise and under-deliver.

It's not as easy to get a profitable info product going these days, probably because Google helps keep that junk from ranking. So now he writes a bunch of books on the store under pseudonyms - hopefully the store will eventually do some curating of their own.

He talks about things like CPA (cost per action) networks. I've generated lots of income with CPA offers in the past, but I'd never advised people to jump into that these days.

I think it's cool that the author lives on a tropical island somewhere (Philippines?) writing the store books. But I don't want to be a content marketer like he is, doing videos and podcasts and writing and writing and writing. I don't think it's that sustainable, and I think the result is products with questionable value. I'd rather build something of which I'm proud, not something that requires pseudonyms.

Well written with tons of practical advice on earning a living in nontraditional ways. It jumped around a bit but I found it a really good read. I would recommend to anyone young or old that wants to change how they earn and live life.

Jonathan- Excellent book. Love your no nonsense approach. When I saw this book was almost 500 pages, I thought it was going to take me months to read. I read it in two weeks. I’m looking forward to going back again and taking action on the things you spoke about.

I liked the direct communication style of the author but it seemed like he couldn't make a single point without using personal anecdotes. I suspect that the most frequently used work in this book was "I".

This doesn't seem to be a problem for a lot of readers who have left reviews but for me it was terribly distracting.

For example:
1. "I'm great at telling jokes."
2. "People have a tendency to think that I was born already successful at online marketing."
3. "I'm a pretty talented guy."
4. "The reason I succeed where other people fail is that I approach every task I take on with a street fighter mentality."
5. "I can't stand grammar mistakes."
6. "I can write fast, and I can write very well."
7. "I'm one of the best researchers in the world, and I write fast."
8. "I spent a few late nights and developed a plan for her to become a social media trend spotter and blogger. My plan would have her at six-figures within eighteen months."

I could seriously go on.

The author tried to counterbalance by talking about some of his past mistakes but I couldn't shake the feeling that the book was one giant humblebrag.

Glad I wandered upon this poignant and accurate book that blends self help with honest dialogue in a rather gripping way.
I would recommend this book to everyone (my father who just retired ALREADY included), so much useful info and insightful ways to make instant progress toward one's goals. Bravo Jonathan Green, bravo!

This book makes you think about the life you will live from this day on. I love the message, Would recommend.
4 stars because even though I understand structuring the many chapters is difficult, I think it can be done better. Also a few spelling errors/typos and explicitly asking for 5 stars made me hesitant about rating 5/5.

How inspiring! Thinking about starting your own business is intimidating, but this book breaks the process down into manageable bits that even I can do. I mean, I definitely need to read it again because of how much information is in here, but I can do this!

Serve No Master provides great insight and advice into freeing yourself from the 9-5. An upbeat and entertaining tone make for an easy read. Even if you love your job read this book anyway. The viewpoints expressed are ones that we should all consider more often.

Jonathan did a great job of breaking down everything in easy to read chapters. He details his method in the book and you can definitely see he uses it on his own work. I would very much recommend this book to anyone feeling like the 9-5 life wasn't tailored to them.

Been listening to some self dev books and a lot are fluff, this one doesn't do hype to make you feel good. It tells you what you need to do, how to do it and doesn't shy away from the fact that you'll most definitely fail. But have to keep at it till you succeed.

Highly recommend!

Solid, practical directions , for creating the life you want. I enjoyed the direct and personal style of writing, it was like listening to an old friend. Anyone with a desire to change can benefit from this book. Five stars, for five stars worth of information! Action comes now, thank you.

This should have been a good book. Technically, it's fairly well written, although some editing could tighten it up. It even touches on a wide range of useful topics for the budding entrepreneur. Yet those nuggets of useful information are buried deep in ego. I get that this guy is successful, but I don't care. Lots of people are successful and success and freedom can be measured differently to meet the needs of the individual. This guy's constant flaunting of his tail feathers is actually a distracting detriment. Instead of being impressed and striving to follow in his footsteps, I'm totally put off by how excessively self centered he is.
The advice in the first half isn't even distinctive, I've read or heard versions of the same information in bootstrapping books and business seminars. Maybe the second half gets better, but I don't know. I got this book through the store prime, and I'm glad I didn't have to buy it. It's going to get swapped out for a new digital book from the store prime.

The tone is just as important as the content. Jonathan knows what he's talking about, so the content's there, and he puts it out in a no-nonsense , totally lack of fluff way that makes you sit up and take notice. Thumbs up! I already started.

This book is a must read for anyone who is ready to ditch the 9-5 in favor of pursuing their passions and building other sources of income. This book is equally insightful and entertaining. I read it through once then started it over and read it again right away. Loved it!

I really tried to get through the book but couldn't do it! Every time I thought I had gotten to the actionable content, he throws in another chapter about his job at the University (and how everyone was so jealous of his salary), or some other self-righteous tale that was probably already told earlier in the book. In my opinion, half the book has no relevance to the topic. I made it to chapter 60 before I quit. Maybe it's just poorly organized?

He also talks far too extensively about how no one's job is secure (to an extremely cynical degree) - how all bosses are selfish humans who would fire you in a second if it meant they got to keep their job, would forego giving you a raise so they can get a raise instead etc.

There are too many other great resources on starting your own internet business to waste your time on this book.

Have you ever thought about what life would be like working for yourself?
There are many opportunities showering your social media feed. Opportunities
like network marketing, direct sales, freelance writing, and many more.
What is NOT there is a tried-and-true manual, sharing with you statistics and
actionable tips.

At one time in his life, the author was barely able to make ends meet. Yet, he
planted his feet and sharpened his skill, like a blacksmith sharpens iron,
discovering marvelous lifestyle.

From a drone to digital nomad, the author shares how he managed to create his
"laptop-lifestyle" in a 155-chaptered book. While the chapters are only a few pages
each, roughly 1-3 pages, he shares his journey. In a memior-like style, wise words
are dropped like breadcrumbs for the reader to pick up and savor.

I liked this book. Having tried direct sales, I wish I would have come across
this sooner. The author opened my eyes to such things as the job security myth,
the art of favor, turning my skills into residual income, and scaling that income.

I do not recommend this book for everyone, as we are not all at the same fork
in this road we call life. If you are considering a "side hustle", perhaps this
book may be a good starting point.

Further, I do not recommend you read this book in one sitting. Read a chapter a day,
letting the seeds germinate in your mind.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so
I could give an honest review.

The intro talks about how the ozone layer is fake and climate change should be questioned. I wasn't trying to get a scientific opinion when I picked up the book, but it was clear that this would not be an author I could relate to.

This book feels like Tim Ferris's Four Hour Workweek, but with less concrete advice, more climate change denial, way more grammatical errors (the author brags about being a great writer while consistently using "you're" instead of "your"), and a self-admitted quest for a word count nearly entirely filled up with the author's ego. Given the positive ratings I read it to the end hoping to squeeze one new kernel of truth out of it. I found none.

Green presents his methods and viewpoints on how to become your own boss and make hundreds of thousands from relationships, favors, bribes, and taking advantage of available resources. The writer comes across as arrogant and self-promoting in his attempt to portray expertise and professionalism. The book is a collection of contradictions. One example is purchasing clothes. Instead of purchasing multiple pairs of shorts, the author purchases one pair, brings it to a seamstress, and has the seamstress make several more pairs. He fails to recognize the difference between homemade versus tailor made clothing. Another example is the need to be able to provide what the customer needs. Yet he really likes automated billing, because the client has to take some action to stop the payments and a lazy client will keep paying for another month or two. Some might say this writer is trying to make a buck by taking yours. Green does provide a couple of options for getting back the money spent buying the book, plus a tiny profit.

Read to get some actual insight and ideas but instead ended up reading half a book of a douche gloating. He may have some insight at the end of the book but be ready to take on an onslaught of bragging and mediocre writing at the beginning. Makes sense this thing was free. He really just wants you to buy into his program.

Difficult to read with several grammatical mistakes, and obvious filler inserted everywhere just to satisfy a work count minimum. I like a couple of his tips, though, and hope to accomplish a few of these side gigs myself. But I'm not going to fall for his obvious ploy to come spend money at his website because this entire book is just one super-long sales pitch to shill his products. Take his advice and limit all start-up expenses... starting first by getting this mediocre book for free through the store, and then leaving Mr. Green's useless attempts to take your money through his online "lessons" behind. Worth noting - tried to do a basic Google search of this guy about 1/2 through the book and his online presence sucks. Go figure, taking advice from a guy whose online profile lacks serious recognition and credibility.

Dude is a joke and a complete waste of time. Every chapter says the same thing a different way. This "book" does not inform the reader on how to escape the 9-5 AT ALL! This is nothing more than one long, feeble, pathetic "infomercial" that strings the reader along sentence after sentence, chapter after chapter until you realize that the bad feeling you were starting to get in the second chapter is horribly true. Yep.Sorry buddy, you've been duped again. The most infuriating and disgusting part is this is supposed to be a learning experience and the whole time Jonathan Green is blowing smoke up your ass! In order to actually (allegedly) get the facts and nuts and bolts of the plan, You, of course, must pay Green more of your precious green. This lying snake oil peddler should be ashamed of himself. Caveat emptor! Don't let this clown-shoe chap your hide like he did mine. Thanks for less than nothing J.Green (pseudonym I'm sure coward) and the store.

Too many baseless rants. Global warming and the hole in the ozone as fear tactics? He asks where the ozone hole went? Really? He said ADHD was invented for children 30 years ago. Really? I'm a pharmacist. Although they're over prescribed and abused by some, these stimulants are helpful for many. Again, horrible book based on author's opinion and little research.

Before 9/11, I was a lowly National Car Rental reservation agent earning $7.25 an hour. Yet within 9 months, I became a top revenue producer earning the company $1.2M. My calls lasted anywhere from 7-30 mins each, meaning I spoke to significantly less customers than my colleagues but virtually all of my calls were converted to sales. Why? Because everyone had a story to tell about why they needed to rent a car, and most customers realized I cared about that story. When they realized I cared they wanted to do business with me.

So what is my point? It's that this guy's so called advice offered in this "book" is not advice at all. It is common sense. If you want to get ahead in this world, be genuinely concerned about everyone around you. Save your time and money reading crap from Jonathan Green. The only person getting rich is him. Typical scheme. Empty words. Lots of bragging. Including his phenomenal writing speed. Guess what? It shows. Editing of the material would have been nice. And so would some content. Yawn and two thumbs down.

This book has some very good, pragmatic ideas and he uses his past mistakes as well as his successes to educate the reader. I was turned off by the cynical tone, especially about education. As an educator myself, I know that there is a degree of conformity and the factory worker paradigm...I also know that there are many people in the system who are changing this. I also know that the world is full of inspiring educators who want to help children achieve their dreams and be creative. The extreme negativity is unnecessary for the reader-though I suppose there is some part of his audience that is validated by it.

I went to his website to learn more about the tools he is offering and had specific questions, hoping it's a good jumping off point for research on book writing that are realistic. Lots of research to do.

This book is basically a platform for the author to direct more traffic to his blog. Half way through the book it becomes completely obvious that he is solely attempting to hit a word count, and clearly forgets the overall topic of the book. Disappointing and filled with simple grammatical/spelling errors.

Jonathon Green has written one hell of a book and laid out one hell of a dream.
Living life on your terms.
He builds layer upon layer, going deeper and deeper into how you can turn that dream into a possibility.
Jonathon has a nice easy way of writing but the message is layered deep.
At times I felt it may have repeated itself a little, but in truth it was re-iterating imprtant ideas and principles and really bedding them down.
Overall really loved Serve No Master and have already purchased his other books, excited to begin puting his ideas into action.
Thank you Jonathan.
I encourage everyone looking to expand their lives to read this book.

I am very impressed with your book, mainly due to your straightforwardness, inspirational stories and a 'Just Do It' attitude!! It's the best I've read so far and now realize that I've done enough reading and learning about online businesses...I just need to "DO IT!" . The two best pieces of advice to me were getting the blog started and learning copywriting (I have learned copywriting through the AWAI program a few years ago and think I'm pretty good at it but with practice will get better). Every product needs good sales letters and though there are many other things to do, I will tackle these first. Thank you, Jonathan

Being someone that is about to launch out on my own and leave a 9-5 job, I found this book to be highly motivating and full of insights about making passive income through strategic publishing of valuable online content.
While there are many books claiming to deliver on similar promises, this one actually does it.
I am a voracious reader and this book now rates as one of my favorites. I'll be reading it for the third time as soon as I am finished with his more recent books.

I have read quite a few books about creating an online business and I think this book is pretty solid. What I like is that he covers unique subjects that most authors don't touch on. For example: How to expand your network of high powered business partners, real specific goal setting, money management, fears that hold you back from success and more. I also really like his no bs, straight to the point writing style and got a lot of value
to use on future projects. In short, buy this book now.

Mr. Green does an outstanding job for anyone that is looking for results. That is the bottom line. Most people would rather feel good and dwell on the surface, because it takes hard work to really implement what this guy teaches. But like he says once you catch on to the process his very own business model will be yours, with a lot of room to scale up!

A very valuable book that you be sorry to have purchased. I read this through in one go, but will certainly return and re-read in order to implement specific steps or re-visit content once I’ve some experience in this area. This is a great book to help you start out in the information/content marketing area. More generally, it’s also helpful for strategically planning an exit strategy from your traditional 9-to-5 job and considering a range of ways to reduce your debts and increase your cash flow in order to make that happen. Excellent ideas and also motivation to help you get started. The book comes with additional supports/information via links to the author’s website.

As can be expected with a book like this, it was quite inspiring. At times the author likes to ramble on, but it was in a way that helped you to get to know his personality, his experiences, and his feelings; as a result, the reader feels more connected with the writer. There is good information present throughout this book, and I am happy I read it. I was able to learn a decent amount that will inevitably help in my road to online business success. I got through the book in a couple days.
